Hey, Sisters! Well, I went to the hospital at 7am last Tuesday morning. Only needed 1/2 a trank.... It took about an hour of prep. Every thing went fine they said. It was supposed to be a day surgery (outpatient) but they kept me overnight for "observation," since my blood ox kept going below 90. In hindsight, I think they overdosed me on pain meds. They gave me 2 oxycodone and my usual dosage for my knee is 1/2.... Anyway, I had a good nights dozing which I'm sure had a lot to do with the meds plus I was on 2-liters of ox. I did wake every time someone came in the room. I had "the roommate from he11" - she was 74, and was not happy with anything or anybody and didn't hesitate to let everyone know. The nurses & I exchanged sympathetic smiles. The next day, I realized she wasn't aware I was there - the curtains were drawn around her bed, the shades were closed (the light hurt her eyes), and I am not a loud person & neither is my DD who came around noon. I told DD I was going to be released, but we all know how hospital time works. My neighbor let the TV run all the time and she watched programs I like - I had a TV remote also, but I certainly wasn't going to try to compete for "power". I had a brief moment just before we left, of introducing myself but I got over it. Thursday, I was taking the pain meds every 4 hours, but Friday, I only needed a couple doses. My main irritation was my throat from being Intubated during surgery - there were other small aches & pains. No problems - I go in Wednesday for another CT scan so they can see if the kidney stones were blitzed to powder. I'm hoping they're gone - I am so tired of the urinary catheter and I can't get rid of it till they remove the stent after passing all the kidney stones. TMI, I'm sure, but it helps me talk it out. Thanks for being there.

Mostly mom good to hear your surgery went well and you have recovered from your roommate. I hope your CT scan shows only dust.

Mammaray thinking of you and hope you have a good July 4.

Loverly good news on your husbands health, that must of been very scary for you.

mostly mom, hoping for dust and no more cathader. Yucky. Hugs your way.

Chevster, meant to thank you a long time ago. You posted once that when you brush your teeth, you shouldn't rinse your mouth out after. I can't ever visit dentist again, so for the last five years I can't care for the teeth. But that info has been great...my teeth haven't had any problems. Working great. Thanks :

mostlymom - so glad your procedure went well and you're home in comfort. Here's hoping the CT shows ZERO stones!

Ever since I've been home from rehab, everything I eat salad, meat, cereal, etc. leaves a bitter after taste. Has anyone else ever experienced this?

Susan.... did I say that? So what was that? That you don't rinse your mouth out after you brush? If I said something, and it actually worked, that's GREAT! Hah! I know I only rinse, after I use that Breo Inhaler... You HAVE to do that or you get this "sand" in your mouth and throat....

JazBug... I know that if you take antibiotics or sometimes Prednisone, things just don't taste the same...

Awww, poor Mr. G....did you make him smile for the picture??

JunieB, that was tarsier, a nocturnal primate. The first time I saw them was in the island of Bohol, Phillippines. I think they are the smallest primates. The eyes are so huge that they can't rotate them, so God gives them a neck that can rotate 180 degrees, just like an owl. They are on the list of endangered species. People often refer to them as "the smallest monkey in the world", but they are not monkeys.

Ms. Chevy is right, some drugs, especially antibiotics can leave a yucky metallic taste in the mouth. Any drugs that cause dry mouth can also do the same.

Mostlymom, that catheter got to be annoying and uncomfortable. Hope you get it out soon.

MammaRay, I don't like the noisy fireworks either. The ones that sound like gun shots are the worst. They remind me of the times I lived in "the hood" when we first came to America.

Hello and happy 4th of July to all. I haven't posted here in months but I try to follow along from the sidelines. Everything I post is from my phone (home internet is still iffy...goes in and out so I use my little phone). So...that explains why I stopped posting because I can't do split screen....too small to read....and this thread is very much a close knit family and everyone's post addresses messages to each member. That is really cool but I can't keep up and I certainly wouldn't want to post and leave someone out.....so generally I just lurk. But recently I got some good news that changed my dx. At my 6 month follow up appt with my BS I found out HER2 was never tested.....don't know where I got the notion that it had....so technically I am NOT triple negative. I am so relieved that I just had to share it.....especially since I had never had an MO consult (long story). Anyway I feel like a huge worry has been lifted from my shoulders.....I feel truly blessed and thank God especially for this particular blessing among all the other blessings He has bestowed on me and my family. So today I am celebrating with my family.....with fireworks included! My prayers continue to go out for every person touched by this disease. Thank you all for "listening" to me.....no one else in my family truly understands what this new corrected dx means, but I know you all understand. May you all have a blessed day!

    Cyber hugs.....

MammaRay ~ I like the fireworks when they are where they belong - not by the house where they can be heard! Hate those firecrackers too. I'll have to give my kitty and doggie anxiety meds tonight so they don't get too upset. I'll take some to so they won't feel singled out, hee-hee! So happy you are visiting with us here again. Prayers and (((hugs)))

Loverly ~ No wonder MammaRay can't rest! (shaking finger) all the dang fireworks booming and then you posting yucky surgery pics and that gosh darned nasty bug-eyed thing! On the EMT thing....I would have been worried about making hubby presentable too! Hope he appreciates you looking out for his decency. I'm so bad about "propriety" that I wouldn't go to the ER after my fall until my make-up was done. My mom stayed with me to help with the birthing of DS. She was soooo mad at me when my water broke. It was 5:30 in the morning and I wouldn't go to the hospital until 4 hours later. I ate a BIG breakfast, took a shower, did my make-up and hair first. My lipstick was perfect and so was my newborn :)

JunieB ~ After anesthesia I have found my sense of taste to be "off". Chevy had a good point about the meds too . I think the real problem is Loverly's pictures of yucky things making the bile rise up on you!

Wren - Scary stuff to faint from that nerve when you get stomach issues! Is there anything you can do to prevent it?

Lookie ~ you baaad girl! I want to sit in YOUR garden :)

    DR. Chevy in the house!

Jazzy - your are so patient! Did your green sandals ever materialize?

    Susan ~ Awwwe!

    Teka ~ crispy marshmallows mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

MostlyMom ~ Sending gentle hand squeezes, you sound too tender for hugs :( Catheters are not nice, hope yours comes out soon.

    Sassy ~ How's the nose?

    Hello HiHo!

    Hi Feline!

Wenchie ~ Wishing you an awesome day with your loved ones. Gotta whoop it good before Wednesday <3

    Hey to ya'll! I missed

Wishing a true Independence Day for all of us - Freedom from pain, worries and stress. Fun, comfort, happiness and lots of relaxation for all!

Annie- glad you got some better information about your pathology. Glad you popped in to say hi and sounds like you are having a nice weekend.

Shepkitty- no green sandals yet, closets are still a hot mess. Going to finish them in a few weeks when I am off from work for a week. Yay for time off!

Annie ~ Hooray for good news! Hope you enjoyed lots of pretty fireworks. Great way to celebrate! Our "family" includes regular posters, occasional visitors and lurkers too :)

Jazzy ~ My walk in closet is such a disaster I need safety rails in there! I keep planning on mucking it out and getting it in order. I am an excellent planner. The doing part, not so good.

Hope everyone behaved over the holiday weekend :)

    Wow! I'm 4 pages behind!!

Shep, I wish they could get your back squared away a lot faster! It's way to long for you to be in constant pain!

MommaRay, I hope you are doing well and taking care of yourself. You are in my thoughts and prayers!

M0mmy, YAY! Congrats on your updated results! Once a year visits! AWESOME!!!

Smaarty, I love, love, love the owls!

Sassy, uummmm, I used to enjoy my joints better when my nose wasn't on fire! Gotta make sure all is clear before lighting!

Got to go watch the fireworks here last evening. In my memory I can't remember the last time it was sooooo cold on a July 4th. Usually we are sweating like crazy. Weird weather.

wenchie, that was the part I was afraid of. But they should mix it with lidocaine so it will be just like a normal pinch when you get a shot. You'll be asleep when they do the blue dye. What I didn't realize was the first couple of times you pee it will be emerald green! So don't freak! In your pocket and be a good girl and do NOTHING for at least 2 weeks. You'll be doing good just to wipe your own a***. Have plenty of fruit to counter act the drugs so you don't get constipated. Have you read any on the constipation thread? Lots of help and info there. Is this an in and out for you or will you stay overnight? What time tomorrow?

Had a nice fourth. My baby boy turned 41 yesterday. Boy, I'm beginning to feel old? We went to his house. Had a nice fireworks show by a couple of his neighbors who had illegal fireworks.

Thinking of you all. Be good out there!

Oooh, very nice cushion. What is the name of the thing again? It looks comfortable. Perfect size for a cat to lounge on.

Lori, I could hear the excitement in your voice. I don't remember any probe insertion prior to surgery, but I do remember the dye injection. My surgeon wanted to do it herself prior to surgery and warned me to the possible minor sting. I only felt the sting of the needle. Not only did I get bright green urine, I also got bright green doodle too. Not sure why my surgeon looked at me funny when I told her. I think I was her first (and possibly the only patient to report that). May the Great Physician guide your surgeons' hands and grant them wisdom to carry out the surgery successfully.

    MammaRay, don't listen to ShepK.

ShepK, I didn't know you were so vain. May I make a suggestion though? Back off on the black eye shadow. You look like a raccoon or me when I'm tired. Btw, I watched The Life of Pi with DH. Interesting movie. Made me think and that makes my head hurt. DH didn't like it because he is more of a straightforward and literal guy. He prefers action movies with zero plot.

Ms. S, I don't mind watching the movie again with you. You should come over one day when you are free. Anyway, aren't we all that one friend who is not right in the head in our own ways.

Annie, I post using my phone also. Most of the times I remember less than half of what I read and forget to address everyone. Just pop in anytime and talk away. Just don't do what Ms. Sas does. She goes away for a few days and then she drops in and writes a book with this crazy energy. I always get a head spin reading her book and tend toforget most ofwhat I read.
