To those who celebrate, wishing you a wonderful Christmas. I hope it is everything you want it to be!
My brother is home. I think all told he was in the hospital 26 or 27 days. Now let's hope that he stays out of the hospital for long time.
No white Christmas for Denver. We tomorrow morning to see out favorite munchkin and her parents.😍
Safe travels to all traveling

Echoing all the well wishes and blessings in the new year to all. ❤️🎄😊 Having moved south, we are experiencing a New England Christmas with family right now. I'd forgotten what " cold" really means! ❄️🌨🧥🥶

Had a nice time at my aunt’s for Christmas dinner. Already have ideas for gifts from me and hubby for next year. Was thinking cookies or baked goods.

Good Morning, Loungettes! Happy Thirsty Thursday! Happy Boxing Day! I just got a message that the hose to fix my windshield washer didn't come in, so my appointment for today has been rescheduled. Just as well as far as I'm concerned, I really don't want to have to go out anywhere today anyway. The puppers and I had a pretty good overnight visit with Mom. Mom may not have dementia but It's become clear to me that she has significant memory issues. We got lobsters for Christmas lunch, I picked them up Christmas Eve. Mom wanted to start cooking them right after breakfast even though we wanted them hot for lunch. She'd gotten the big pot out to cook them in before I got there, and she got up and went looking for the pot that was sitting on the stove several times Christmas Eve and Christmas morning. We must have had the same conversation about what we were going to have with the lobsters (some chips and cheescake for dessert) a dozen times. During the night I got up to let Colt out to pee, and thought I had been able to get that done without waking up Mom, who sleeps on the couch or in the recliner in the living room. Apparently I wasn't totally successful. A few minutes after we got back to bed Mom opened the bedroom door and let Colt out into the living room. I woke up a while later when she opened the door to let him back in with me. Mom did talk "someone" trying to get in bed with her during the night, and not letting her have much of the blanket!
Teka—happy Christmas snow!
MOmmy—did the snow hold out for you?
Miriandra—beautiful card!
Karen—so glad your brother is out of the hospital! Hope you had a great visit with the munchkin.
Thank you, Jazzy, and I wish the same for you.
Reader—yeah, I had forgotten what "cold" really is, too!
MOmmy—really? Planning next year's holiday already? you are an overachiever!

Mommyof3, you definitely made the right decision for you in returning to live in Wisconsin. You seem very happy.
We had a pleasant day yesterday with my younger sister and her dh at their home. Her son and his wife and two small children came for a brief hectic visit at meal time. The little boy is autistic and seldom stops moving and his little sister is a handful, too. It's fun to see them and a relief when they leave. Neither child ate anything. Their parents took turns eating and carried home ample leftover food. My sister had gifts for the children. I bought them a gift certificate for Chuck E Cheese which they enjoy a lot. The little autistic boy loves all the noise and flashing lights.
NM, I'm looking forward to your account of Christmas with Mom.

We made the drink with cinnamon syrup, cranberry juice and ice tea. It was good. I wouldn’t be able to tell you what was in it but it was refreshing and not sweet. We had enchiladas Christmas Eve before one grandson and his wife drove us around to see the lights. Christmas Day another grandson fixed my license plate and I’m legal again

Yes, especially being able to spend holidays with my Daddy’s side of the family.

Good Morning, Loungettes! Happy TGIF Day! The puppers and I had quite the uneventful day yesterday. I was feeling so lazy that I even did my weekly grocery shopping on line and had it delivered to the house. I suspect today is going to be another totally lazy day, too, but will try to do a bit more than I did yesterday!
Carole—it sounds like you had a very nice visit with your sister and her DH's family. Seems like they have their hands full with the two little ones, but have worked out some good ways to manage everything. Working on the Christmas with Mom stories may be the order of the day today.
Wren—glad the drink was good! Even more glad that you are driving legally again! We used to drive around on Christmas Eve to see the lights every year. Seems like not so many people are putting up lights at Christmas these days.
MOrning, MOmmy!

NM, I went back and found your post about Christmas with your mom. Lobsters. Yum. When I check my discussion forums on BC.org, sometimes the forum will open on posts already read and sometimes posts will be skipped.
Wren, enchiladas on Christmas Eve sound like a good meal. I enjoy seeing Christmas lights. We have a lighted wreath that comes on and turns off with a timer. When I took the garbage bin out to the street last night, I admired my wreath. LOL.
We're having a drippy overcast day. It's supposed to rain off and on for the next couple of days and tomorrow could bring storms. Good weather for soup except it's 70 degrees. I may make soup anyway since I brought the small turkey carcass home from Christmas dinner.
Happy Friday.

Thought this was funny given I bought a Toyota. It was in town Tuesday but still waiting to hear it's at the dealer

lol
That’s like my mom trying to push hubby and I into buying a Ford when we are Chevy people. We owned one Ford vehicle and it was a huge PITA, after that we said never again.

Good Morning, Loungettes! Happy Saturday! It was bright and sunny when the puppers and I got up this ayem, now it's gloomy and cloudy. The weather guessers are predicting rain and sleet overnight, then temps in the 40s to melt off all the snow. Not my idea of fun weather, but I guess it could be a lot worse. At least I don't have to go out into the mess at all.
Carole—the same thing happens to me when I log into BCO since the last upgrade, too. Sometimes the forum will open on the first unread post, sometimes it opens at the end of the posts. One of my favorite meals was Mom's turkey and rice soup that she made with the Thanksgiving and Christmas turkey carcasses. One of the things that really struck me about Mom's decline was her inability to manage the turkey carcasses and make the soup this year. Between arthritic hands and dodgy memory, she just couldn't do it and wouldn't let me help. I can't imagine it being 70 degrees outside right now. I agree, though, that soup is good no matter what the weather is like!
Jazzy—LOL! Waiting is hard. . . .
MOmmy—Fords seem to be like the color purple, either loved or despised! One of my uncles used to call Fords "Found On the Road Dead" or "Fix or Replace Daily" cars.

Good afternoon friends:
Hope everyone is having a good weekend in between the holidays. Made it through the work week, some drama came up later in the week but we got things resolved by yesterday morning. Monday should be super quiet, or at least we hope. Then we are off again for 2 days again next week.
The car is still at the railyard drop off where it's been since early this week per my sales guy. He said they are waiting to hear and hoping it will be here this weekend. He said he wants to get this to me by end of the year (and thats in three more days) but we know every sales job has it's incentives by end of the month, quarter and year which we have all three. Toyotathan ends 1/6 though and my delivery window is through next friday, 1/3. So we continue to wait and yes NM, the waiting is hard!
Mommy- my dad was totally a Ford guy and we had a few growing up. I bought one as my first car (one of the early SUVs, the Bronco II in the late 1980s) and had a lot of problems with it. The new Broncos look great and a friend bought one but not sure how it's going for her and not gonna ask. I have mostly bought foreign cars in my lifetime and this will be my first Toyota.
Time to hit the gym and hopefully back soon with good news. Oh I also had my annual mammo this past week and waiting to hear good news there too. As you know, you either get the letter or a phone call to call you back for more imaging. Fingers crossed!

DH just bought a Ford 150 pickup, one of the most popular vehicles in the US. His last vehicle was a Toyota Tundra truck. I'm a Toyota fan. I've had two Camry's and now drive a Prius hybrid. Actually, dh drives it, too, if I'm not going anywhere. It's so maneuverable and easy to park in the parking lots designed for midget autos.

Good Morning, Loungettes! Happy Sunday Funday! Waking up to no ice, sleet, or freezing rain this ayem, despite the weather app insisting there is precipitation going on. I don't really want to have anyone dealing with that kind of craziness. The same weather app is telling me my brother and his wife are under a Torndado Watch this ayem! I did not expect to see that this time of year, but I guess with global climate change all sorts of weather patterns are changing. I think I would still rather deal with snow and ice than with tornados, we get a lot more warning for snow and ice and it seems a lot less scary.
Jazzy—I'm sure the salesman wants to get your car to you by the end of the year for all those incentive deadlines. It's always bothered me when incentives and such depended on things outside of the control of the worker. He should get credit for the sale that he made, and not have it held hostage to the actions of a whole different industry! I bet you're getting excited to have the new car. Fingers crossed for the letter from the mammo! I remember getting a mammo one time and filling out the form letter (name, address, everything but checking off the box for "all clear, see you next year" or "your report has been forwarded to your PCP for follow up." I even had to address the envelope it was going to be mailed in!
Carole—I love the mental image of "midget autos"! I drive a Jeep Cherokee, big enough for both dogs and the kayak, sits high enough to see over snowbanks or bushes at intersections, high enough clearance to get through mud season without getting stuck. But I bet they are way easier to park!

I’ve heard those bout Fords and this is what I said after the disaster with their Freestar for numerous times in for fixes, “”Fresh Out of Repair Disaster”

I’m driving a 2003 Ford and am hoping it lasts. So far it’s been a pretty good car. That’s not to say I would mind driving a new car with backup cameras. I drove SIL Hyundai in LA and really liked it

Wren - I too drive a 2003 car - Toyota Camry. I'm about to have the the struts & springs replaced since I really do not want a new car - other than the back up cameras. I love having a "real" key and a CD player. I know there are "Ford People & Chevy People" - but we've always had good luck with Fords.

Good Morning, Loungettes! Happy Monday Monkey day! Very gloomy today, temp in the 40's, pretty dense fog as all the snow is melting off with the warmth and the rain coming down. Colt and Zoe both wound up with ice balls in their toes after the ayem potty trip. Lots of slush everywhere. Very Yuck. Looking forward to another lazy, low excitement day here.
MOmmy—LOL, funny new Ford acronym!
Wren—It must depend on the particular car/owner combo if Fords work well or not. Or more likely individual experiences with a brand are generalized to the whole brand, which we all know is not a realistic thing to do. I don't find the back up camera all that useful much of the time due to the camera lens being coated with mud or snow or dust or dirt and not being able to see anything anyway!
Minus—there is something to be said about older cars with "real" keys and having a CD player. I thought i would never get used to the key fob thingy rather than an actual key, and I still have moments of panic looking for a key as I head out to my car!

The back up cameras in new vehicles are awesome. My 2014 Prius and dh's new pickup won't lock the doors if a key fob is in the vehicle. I love locking my Prius by touching the door handle on the driver's side and unlocking it by slipping my hand into the handle. I never take the fob out of its place in my purse unless I need to use the house key to lock the door as I leave home. It used to take me about a month to get used to needing a key when our only vehicle during the summer in MN was dh's Tundra pickup. Now both vehicles will be keyless. We don't have a carport in MN and we will hate having to park his new truck in the weather if we go back to MN this summer. He's a real believer in parking under cover. It amazes us to see homes with two late-model vehicles parked in the driveway because the garage is full of junk.
DH is 85 and I will be 82 in March but we like some modern change. Not all. I still like making a pot of coffee in the morning, for example. We have a one-cup-at-a-time Keurig but it's not on the counter. Too much expense and waste, for us. Works well for some other people.
DH installed a Ring doorbell on our carport door, which is the main door of the house. We both have a phone app that alerts us when anyone is on the carport. It's not really a safety feature because it could be easily dismantled by a determined intruder.
Rest in Peace, Jimmy Carter.

Native, used to think the world of Ford’s but after the disaster we had, so glad we went back to Chevy. I love the Traverse model.
Carole, we were told by the police in the town where we lived in Connecticut on how to prevent vehicles with fobs from being stolen by either putting the fob in a coffee cup or in a drawer to block the signal from going to the car from the fob making it harder to steal.

DH is a solid BMW fan. I just want something that will get me from A to B safely and with decent gas milage. 😆
Long ago when I lived in Memphis, I had a Corolla that I loved. A friend's brother (and a bit of a good ol' boy) told me, "Congratulations. By buying that car, you put an American autoworker out of work." I replied, "It's a Toyota. It was probably made here in Tennessee."

Good Morning, Loungettes! Happy New Year's Eve! Happy Twofer Tuesday! Here's wishing everyone a Happy and Healthy 2025. The puppers and I aren't going to do anything special, I don't like being out on the roads on holiday nights if I can avoid it. Much more relaxing and fun to stay at home and do what I want when I want, I guess. I used to sit up and watch the ball drops on TV, but then I discovered I can see them all on New Year's Day without staying up late.
Carole—I think it's great that the vehicle won't lock with the key fob inside! I don't use a purse regularly, so I've needed to train myself to check my pockets for the key fob when leaving the house and leaving the car. I agree, some modern change is good. I don't have or want a Keurig, I like using a pour over set up and make my morning coffee right into my travel mug, keeps it nice and warm until I finish it. I enjoy choosing what beans to grind for each cup. I would really like to have something like a Ring doorbell. I'd love to know when someone comes into the driveway, especially after dark. Not some much for safety but for being able to see who or what is out there. Thepuppers are pretty good at letting me know when something is going on, but often I can't hear or see what they do, so I suspect it's critters, and I'd love to see what's visiting.
MOmmy—I had a disaster of a Subaru, and feel the same way about that brand now. I have become a huge fan of Jeep now. I hadn't heard of blocking the fob signal to the car to prevent theft. It does make sense, though.
Miriandra—Good comeback!

Happy New Year to everyone. We will also be staying home but it definitely won't be a quiet evening. People seem to spend a lot of money on fireworks. If I walk outside I can see explosions in the sky coming from affluent neighborhoods around us. I'm sure it drives some pets crazy.
NM, you could probably have a security company set up a camera in your driveway but it would probably be pricey. Does sound like a good idea for a woman living alone.

Mirianda - I have an old friend whose now partner thinks everyone should buy American everything. When they visited a few years ago he gave me a lecture about importance of buying American. It was at the end of our day together and a nice meal I gave them and wrapped up the visit. My new car was assembled in Huntsville AL and my previous car (the Outback) in TN. I see she bought a Ford Bronco recently and am sure he had a lot to do with that 🙄

"Made in the USA" is such a fuzzy phrase today. If one small part of your product is produced by or assembled in an American company, you can claim it. I know of an online boutique that decorates clothing with paint and other embellishments. They claim "Made in the USA" because the work that makes each piece unique is done by an American in America under an LLC incorporated in America. But all their supplies - the paint, the jewelry hardware, the clothes they alter - are all imported from overseas. The only American thing they are bringing to the product is their artistic vision. But that's enough to qualify, I guess.

Met some friends for a spontaneous outing before dark. Champagne was half price. Happy New Year 🎊
