Today is DH and my 65th wedding anniversary. When I went to see him in memory care they were having a New Years party. We had crowns and a festive snack. Someone announced the occasion and the singer sang a special song. It was very nice.

Wren - Congrats on your Wedding anniversary. Fantastic that a singers sang a special song!!!

Wren - congrats on 65 years!
Jazzy - enjoy your new car and drive it in good health. What model is the car
Kim - I miss dogs for letting us know when someone is near or at the door
We are home from a week with our kids. It was a great visit except for rain all day Sunday! It was raining Monday morning so we took GD to an indoor play place and spend about 1 1/2 hours having fun. My GD is so much fun. She has so much personality. I already miss them. My daughter went back to work this morning and our flight was in the afternoon. We ran a couple errands and packed up. The car service came at 1:45 as our flight was at 4pm. We got into Denver early, but had to wait for our son to pick us up and I told him the wrong place to that took extra time so we didn't get to the house till after 7pm. Lots and lots of picture.
Hard to believe 2024 is coming to an end - and already over in many places.. I can’t say I’m sorry to see it go as it has had its challenges health wise. I just hope things settle down in 2025 but I’m not certain. My labs for my nephrologist were wonky and he wants them repeated in 3 - 6 weeks. I hope the results were just a fluke. My glucose was way high out of normal limits and my eGFR was lower and Creatinine higher than it's been. I have labs for my hematologist on Jam 7 and I see him on January 13. I just need a boring year health wise.
Wishing everyone a happy, healthy and all things good in 2025.

Native, the advice from the cops was given to me and my former neighbors because there was a rash of vehicle thefts for cars that had the fobs and keyless start. They also said if you had a garage and the car could fit in it, use your garage. When we owned our old house, we always used the garage and did as the cops advised, especially if we were warming up the car in the morning. We never left the car running and the fob in it.

Good morning friends and happy New Year. We made it to 2025!
I love, Love, LOVE the new car. I was out and about in it for a trip to the gym for some yoga, then to some errands and the spontaneous mid afternoon meet up with a couple friends. I find those spontaenous things can be fun and most of us have too much going on to do things without planning, but yesterday, it happened. We enjoyed some half price champagne and happy hour apps and it was perfect to get home by 6 p.m. New Mexico has a huge DWI problem and its a problem any time of the year, but of course, worse on NYE. In general, most people don't go out but do things earlier or today. There were a lot of fireworks in the hood last night and the usual shooting of guns in the air at midnight which is a not good thing here as the year changes. Today is home organization day and decided to skip the "polar plunge" at the gym this morning (eek!)
Wren- happy 65 years of marraige. The memory center made for a special celebration for you. Blessing to you both in the new year.
Karen- I am glad you had a good visit with the family. I hope you have a boring health year too, and I would love a boring year in general. My car is a Corolla Cross Hybrid XSE (sort of the middle of the road with trim features).
Mommy- my sales guy talked about the importance of being sure I never leave the key fob in the car (my last primary vechicle was a key type). I put my house keys on it. We have a lot of cars being stolen here and there were some cars I looked at but avoided because they don't have as good security and frequently stolen here. I just heard about a bunch of cars stolen over the past few days. Garage everything you can.
Teka- happy new year and hope all is well in north country!
Blessing to everyone here as the new year starts!

Karen, glad you enjoyed your visit with daughter and gd. Hope the blood results are improved on the next testing.
Happy anniversary, Wren.
Nice car, Jazzy! Hope you enjoy driving it.
Another horrible mass killing on the New Orleans News this morning. Ten very unfortunate people won't have a 2025. Many others injured. I'm sure it will be on the news all over the country. Our political leaders will offer up thoughts and prayers.
Thankful that 2024 wasn't a bad year for us despite some health issues. DH has his 2nd knee replacement scheduled for January. We're hoping it goes as well as the first surgery. I will be spending some time (and some money) in the dentist's chair in January. Not looking forward to that.
Good news on weight loss on this first day of 2025. I'm finally down another couple of lbs!
Enjoy the day whatever you're doing!

Got to get moving on a special present I am making for one of my maternal aunt’s. Her birthday is at the end of the month.
Saved a little money by trimming my Nugget’s nails. He was nervous but I talked to him as I was doing it and he let me finish and was rewarded with a treat.

Happy New Year !
I haven’t been on for a while. I did try to catch up on everyone, but it was quite a lot.
NM- I love hearing about mom. A lot of what you are going through, I am right there. My sister gives all of us a planner/calendar every Christmas for new year. This one was laid out a little bit different and my mom said she didn’t understand it. I went to her house and explained the whole calendar to her, and I said “You know ma, it's a calendar they have been around forever, I think you can figure this out on your own”. We went over the lay out and how the bookmark worked. I admire your patience, I have 2 sisters close by and we all share the mom thing.
Christmas was busy with family and I have quite a few grandchildren so it is hectic but fun. My mom is on a very limited income and thinks she needs to buy for everyone. There is too much family for her to do this. I told her just to bake something and that can be a family gift. My grandmother did this and we looked forward every year to it, my kids loved getting it. She said she is going to do that next year. (I keep thinking that is what she said last year)
I stayed home for News Year eve and heard the fireworks and guns, not just at midnight, they start really early in the afternoon and last till way after midnight. When I was a kid, we just went out and banged pots and pans and shouted.
I am trying to lose weight, I am not on any special diet, just trying to cut down my calories and portion control. I have not stopped eating carbs, but have cut way back on them, and I love sandwiches and have not had any bread for about 3 weeks. I have lost a bit and am trying to stay committed to it. Carole – I am interested in how your WW is going, I have often thought about trying it.
Have a great Friday!

Mistyeyes, your Christmas with grandchildren sounds lovely. I think children "make" a Christmas family celebration. My mother was like your mother, not financially able to buy everyone a nice gift but every Christmas that was her wish. It was up to me to come up with an idea. Whatever we decided, she was never satisfied. In May she will have been gone six years. I still miss her and have conversations with her.
WW has changed. There is no longer an emphasis on meetings with an inspiring leader. It's mostly an dividual effort using a phone app to track daily points and create recipes and find recipes. The app is helpful when grocery shopping because you can easily look up almost any product. I'm paying only $10 a month. I started before Thanksgiving and have managed to lose 7 1/2 lbs. It helps that dh is managing his own diet and losing weight. Good luck to you in dropping some lbs.
It's 52 degrees this morning and sunny. I plan to go to the gym today and attend a senior exercise class that is challenging for us oldies. Molly gives us a workout.
Happy Friday.

I have finally started losing my AI weight by going low-FODMAPs. I've had SIBO (one of the conditions under the IBS umbrella) for years. Now my digestion has slowed down enough to get access to more nutrients from my food. I'm not as hungry as I used to be, and I think I'm getting better sleep too. Now that I'm off of anastrozole - yay!! - I hope my weight trend will continue downwards.

Good Morning, Loungettes! Happy Saturday! Yesterday was take Mom shopping day. For me, that means driving her to whatever stores she wants to go to, then loading the groceries/purchases into the car, then unloading them into her apartment. She doesn't need (or want) me to go into the stores with her, so I take my iPad and amuse myself with games or reading while she shops. Which is fine, except that it now takes her a VERY long time to shop. An hour and a half in the Dollar store. Three hours in Walmart. She walks through the Dollar store using a cart as a walker; she uses one of the electric carts in Walmart. She is exhausted by the time she gets home. And, she complains about how hard it is to find anything or get any help and how she can never get everything on her list. Making out her shopping list is a whole 'nother process and story! I'm going to see if she will try online ordering and pick up or delivery for the next big shopping trip. I know she likes to get out of the apartment, but there are things she can do besides shopping, like visiting her sister or some friends, places she wants to check out, that I am more than happy to take her to. And I know she doesn't like the idea of someone else picking out her food, and I can undertsand that, so maybe I can get her to order non-perishables online, then go in and pick out the perishable things when we go to pick up the online order. She's just not going to be able to keep up with 3 hour shopping trips like yesterday much longer. She's going to need most of today to recover.
Carole—some places do seem to spend a lot of fireworks, don't they? A security camera for the driveway would be pretty expensive, or it was when I looked into it a few year ago. I did just buy a video doorbell and a motion sensing flood light with a video feed to set up that's a couple steps in that direction and not terribly expensive. If those work reasonably well I may look into seeing if something lie that can be set up for the driveway at not too much cost. I'm missing Goldie, too.
Jazzy—BEAUTIFUL car!
Morning, Teka!
Miriandra—good point about the definition of "made in the USA". A person has to be pretty savvy to understand all the advertising terms used these days that are misleading at best and downright deceptive at times.
Jazzy—looks like great fun!
Wren—Happy Anniversary to you and your DH!! I hope he is doing well in memory care and you are doing well at home. So nice of the people to recognize your anniversary!
Morning, Minus!
Karen—my puppers do pretty well alerting me when someone comes up the drive, and that is handy! So glad you had a good visit with GD and family. Waiting to get picked up is never fun, and miscommunications always add another element of excitement to travel plans. Praying for a boring health year for you in 2025, and a quick resolution to the current wonkly labs.
MOmmy—I do have and use a garage—it's also the basement of my house. I'm not so worried about the car being stolen or broken into here at home, it's when I'm out and about and leaving the car in parking lots and the like that I worry. Mostly, though, I worry about losing the fob when I'm out and about. Still, so far so good, I've only lost the fob here in the house and eventually found it. I do have a second one that lives here in the house for such emergencies.
Jazzy—so glad you are so happy with the new car! I hear you about the DUI thing, it's a pretty big problem around here on New Year's as well as most major holidays. I much prefer to stay home and not have to deal with crazy drivers and sobriety check points and the weather.
Carole—I was so shocked and saddened to read about the New Orleans terrorist attack. Such a horrible way to start a new year. Good luck to you and DH for your respective procedures/treatments. Congratulations on the weight loss!
MOmmy—good for you for being able to trim Nugget's nails!
Teka—thanks for validating my decision to stop making New Year's resolutions!
Misty—yup, lots going on here, but you know the rule, no need to ketchup, just jump in any time! I've noticed that it's getting harder for Mom to process changes of any kind, no matter how small, particularly since she was in the hospital. Do changes throw your Mom off, too? I'm glad you have sisters who are involved in your Mom's care. That must be a big help. Good job with the portion control and carb reduction, I'm sure you will gradually lose weight as you go on. I'm not a big one for being in big groups, but I do miss the big family get-togethers around Christmas and the 4th of July. The cousin connection is getting more important as our parents age and need more help, but getting together regularly is getting harder and harder to arrange. I remember the big family gatherings as lots of fun something we all looked forward to every year. I especially remember the year that one of my cousins exposed all the rest of us kids to chickenpox. Guess how many of us were home sick 14 days after Christmas that year?!
Carole—I remember seeing when Weight Watchers changed to "WW" and now I'm seeing commercials on TV calling it Weight Watchers. Have they changed the name back to Weight Watchers? It seems like the point system in use now is very popular. Congrats on losing the weight, good job!
Miriandra—glad to hear your digestion is improving off the AI therapy!

Teka, I smiled. I love that winter photo and if I posted, mine would show a sunny beach and say, see you in October…not far from the truth for me, LOL.

Hi all! New on this forum and there's YEARS and thousands of posts to go through so thought I'd just jump in and say hello!
Is this more for support, venting, etc. and how is it different than some of the other forums other than it's about drinking, and/or sharing cocktail recipes?

oh, nice! thanks for responding :)

Good Morning, Loungettes! Happy Twofer Tuesday! Typical winter weather going on here. Cold enough for there to be a wind chill factor with breezes as low as 5 mph. It's funny, I can stand out on the deck when the puppers go out and it's chilly but bearable at 19 degrees, but the second the breeze comes up, we are all headed inside just about as fast as we can go! When I talked with Mom last night she was still recovering from the 3 hour grcoery shopping trip and actually agreed to try online ordering and pick up for non-perishables next big grocery run. Then it shouldn't take her very long to pick up the produce she prefers to pick out herself and leave her with enogh energy to go out again later in the week and visit with friends or do something social.
Teka—LOL! I'd make it May, too!
Wally—LOL!
Klrtts3p—welcome to the Hot Titties Lounge! We're mostly a social group that happens to have breast cancer in common. Venting and support going on as well as celebrating each other's successes and good times intermix with talking about current events, family and work life. We have an imaginary Lounge, complete with Tattie Tenders who stock our favorite drinks and wait on us, connected to a pool with a swim up bar and a casino with an ATM that automatically dispenses $$ whenever someone walks by. I like to post a DOTD (Drink of the Day) with some connection to the current topic of conversation. Anybody can post a DOTD any time they want to, DOTDs are not limited to one a day! Sometimes we talk about different drinks or liquours, wines or beers. One of our guiding principles is that no one is expected to ketchup on past posts, there's way too much there and would take too much time! Jumping in and pulling up a bar stool is recommended. The HTL is a safe place to talk about anything, bc-related or not. So, pull up a bar stool and tell us what your favorite drink is and a little bit about yourself. And BTW, not everyone here actually drinks alcohol, and actively drinking is not a requirement to join us.

NM, DD made the mock tail that had cinnamon syrup, cranberry juice and ice tea. It wasn’t bad and we’ll make it again.

carolehalston - thank you! nice to meet you.
NM - thank you as well for the info and nice to meet you! I'm happy to join the HTL, sounds just like the place I'd like to be right now :) I'm 42, dx'd at age 39 in 2022. Just over two years cancer free but still suffering side effects from treatment as I'm on Anastrazole. Hot flashes and insomnia are two things I'm dealing with the most for side effects and they SUCK and I'm likely going to have them for another 7.5 years.
Four cats, no kids, been married to DH for almost 19 years. We are in Indiana and also have a lot of snow and cold weather right now! We got around 9 inches yesterday and it's the light 'n fluffy snow so country roads keep getting snow covered d/t winds.
Favorite drink- Hendricks and club soda (preferably topo Chico). I'm currently drinking more than I'd prefer but I'm self-medicating so I can sleep! Fun grass isn't legal here and sleep aids are worse than a hangover, lol.

Good Morning, Loungettes! Happy Hump Day! Wednesday, Women, and Wine get-together is this evening and I'm looking forward to a lively gab session over dinner with the ladies. I'm going run in and see Mom before, she needs some bread and milk, some jars opened, and a couple of other things taken care of. Other than that, it should be a quiet day. Still cold here, which means I'm going to have to give in and find a heavier jacket to wear tonight for walking across the parking lot at the MyPub where we are meeting. At least it's nice to see the sun shining!
Wren—the mocktail sounds just as good as the cocktail! I may have to try that myself!
Klrtss—I hear you about the AII side effects. I dealt with that for 5 years, then a couple years after getting done went through menopause, and it was like, really? I have to put up with this twice? It sounds like you are on the 10 year plan. For what it's worth, gabapentin helped me with the night-time hot flashes and sleep disruption. Four kitties must really keep you on your toes! What are their names? My current read is the Patricia Fisher Cozy Mystery series written by Steve Higgs. The protagonist is an older-than-50 British woman whose favorite (and frequent) drink is gin and tonic. The brand of gin isn't mentioned specifically, but now I will have a mental picture of her drinking Hendricks! Love the "fun grass" euphymism! Sorry it's not legal where you are. I hear it can be really helpful with sleep issues.

Good Morning, Loungettes! Happy TGIF Day! I had a great time at the monthly Wednesday, Women, and Wine gathering. Another of the group has joined the Retired club. I think that makes 4 or 5 of us that have retired in the last year. It was great to get caught up with everyone and see new grandbaby pictures and hear the coming year's travel plans. The puppers were not so happy, I left home around lunch time to pick up a couple things for Mom, stop in and visit for a bit and take care of a few things she needed help with, so I was gone quite a while. They forgave me pretty quickly though, when I got out the treats!
Jazzy—HOORAY for the good mammo report!
Morning, Carole, rischaller, minus, reader, teka!

Morning all! We got some snow the night before. I think around half an inch. We are way behind for snow up here in NW Wisconsin. Giong to be getting more tonight. Calling for 2-4 here, want more but I will take whatever we get!
Been trying to find some legit part-time work from home jobs but it seems like everyone is demanding you have to have at least 1 year+ experience. So frustrating and the most I am seeing that would fit for no experience is Customer Service Reps. I really hate talking on the phone and don’t want to deal with people who can get nasty at times (guilty of that at times myself). What I’d really like to do is write and publish my own books. I wrote two really good stories back in college that I would love to expand on for a book. I kept one story but got rid of the other one long ago, but I still remember the premise. Afraid if I go the writing path, I’m not going to make much money.

My 14 y/o son is going to a pool party. Mind you, the snow may be melting off, but there's still snow on the ground, and it's still freezing temps. DH looked him over and the following conversation happened:
DH: Do you have your trunks?
Son: I'm wearing them.
DH: And what about when you're done swimming and they're wet?
Son: I have pants in my bag.
DH: And what about when you're standing around in the cold before swimming?
Son: OK, I'll change.
DH (to me): I never thought I'd have to tell my son, "What are you wearing? You're not leaving the house like that. Go put some clothes on."😆😂🤣

I don't think I've posted since NYE. We went up to the mountains on the 2nd to the 5th - took way too long to get there as Loveland Pass was closed so they were doing planned shutting of the tunnel so haz mat trucks go could through the tunnel. 4 hours instead of 1.5, so we didn't get to hike Thursday afternoon, but went for a couple walks. Hiked Friday and Saturday and left early Sunday morning. Needed to get back into the regular routine and get ready for the work week. By Wednesday, I was so exhausted, I called in to work and stayed home. We had wanted to go to the mountains again on the MLK week-end but decided not to due to exhaustion and now the weather is reporting to be bitter cold, single digits and 0F in Denver during the day so even colder in the mountains. Actually, it will be nice to have the time to relax.
It's been cold all week so at night, I'm wearing my snow pants and heavy coat on our walks. Mornings are around 12F. I walked with a gf on Friday morning and we were both bundled up!
I see my Hematologist tomorrow morning - CMP was better than a couple weeks ago for Nephrologist. But not sure about the MM numbers - have several questions for Hematologist. What do we worry if numbers are trending up/down and when is a change significant. I've been worried about this appointment so waiting for confirmation that all is good. I will have my labs repeated for Nephrologist on the 24th which will be a month from the last ones.
Not sure what our plans are for today, but going to ask DH if he was to go see the BD movie. I guess I should see what times it is playing. 12:50 and its a long movie - 2 hours 20 minutes. Who has seen it?
Well, best get moving - time to jump in the shower.
Have a great Sunday.

Mae: Thinking about you and worrying since our temperatures are so weird. Hope you are OK & to hear from you soon - here or on the dinner thread.
