I completely agree with the Vatican's statement and concern. But let's be honest. The Church has more money than canonical Jesus would ever want them to have. They could cover the immediate expenses and get the food moving again until we get a sane person back in charge.

I think some watching may go on for any info used once the order comes down, but I don't know for sure. I also hope that someone is keeping/making copies of much of our older materials as well as things the other side could erase as in the case of things they are doing — although heaven knows they seemed inclined to heavily believe in themselves so much that they might choose to not bother.
All the chaos is supposed to paralyze most of us, but so far it sounds like a great deal of push-back. I hope enough that when time comes people will step up. Glad that a great many Reps. are getting the boot or cast out heavily. Not sure why they ever dreamed they'd be by-passed. I'd almost think most of them never took the time to read through 2025 and understand what Musk was doing by showing up to wield the ax.

BREAKING: A federal appeals court deals Donald Trump a major black eye by rejecting his demand that they overturn a lower court's decision ordering him to unfreeze federal grants.
America's judges are drawing a line in the sand...
"The defendants do not cite any authority in support of their administrative stay request or identify any harm related to a specific funding action or actions that they will face without their requested administrative stay," the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 1st Circuit wrote.
"In these circumstances, we assume we have jurisdiction, and deny the motion for an administrative stay without prejudice," the court added.
Trump's DOJ made the request to McConnell on Monday, whining about the block on the White House's order to pause disbursement of grants, as well as an order for the government to "immediately" end its funding freeze.
This is why we have checks and balances in this country. Despite Elon Musk's attacks on the American judiciary, these courts are crucial to the survival of our democracy. They provide a backstop against the worst authoritarian impulses of this MAGA regime and we must support their continued independence.
