    Taco, I sent a PM.

    Chris, Tippy is adorable.

I went on a wander to Clearwater with my niece to extend my birthday for a week. We went to a Foreigner and 38 Special concert. Since they have been around for 50 years, Boomers and X's can both enjoy them. The audience was a field of gray. (LOL)

Thanks for the chuckle about being a pacifier, Chris. I can remember those days as well. Glad you see yourself as envisioned. Are you still sewing?

petite1, my BFF's mother once she reached 80 celebrated her birthday for the entire month of July. She figured it made up for years when it wasn't such a celebration. She lived well into her late 90's and her DD threw her a party every July where we were able to throw snowballs they had frozen during the winter. We lobbed them at a tree, not each other, though. So make the month your celebration and enjoy it. I like Foreigner so I would have enjoyed that concert.

I'm doing laundry today because I have too much on my plate tomorrow with eye doctor and PT and on Thursday I have PAT and PT so busy days. Today was the only day where I can attack this and some cleaning on the first floor. So I will vacuum and dust down here in between loads.

Did major clothing drop at Green Drop today and still have a few boxes in garage that need to go as well. Tried my best to find a place that would help women transitioning to the workforce but one only accepts donations from manufacturers and the other which was a domestic abuse never returned my call.

Today is sunny but only 50 degrees so cooler. My daffodils by the back door are in bloom and they make me smile. They always come back. The big bed down by the road is popping out of the ground and will make for later blooms. The hyacinths are also just erupting. Just love this time of year.

Hope everyone has a great day.

I'm here late today. Had a sort of busy morning. I was able to do quotes but not get back till now for anything else. Today was Lil' Red's beauty shop appointment. Good for us to be able to run errands for a bit un-encumbered. I don't know how long he 'whines' after we get him put into his assigned crate, but it is so loud in the 'shop' that it doesn't bother anyone I don't think.

After dropping him off we did errands. Two bank visits, two store visits, and one gas station. I did a panic number on myself — sigh !!! I thought I might be bouncing a check so I took a carton from my room with all my loose change — when my wallet coin purse gets too full I drop it all in the carton. Well, I turned it in and it came to $46.00 — plenty enough to keep a check from bouncing. Then afterwards I found out that the last deposit I made I forgot to write in — I could have left all that change in the carton. Oh well, as I have to say so often now.

Petite, Betrayal is right. Longer birthday celebrations are a good thing. I would have liked the Foreigner concert too. Glad you and your niece could 'rock' together.

I envy anyone (thinking Betrayal right now) who can move whatever donations they have out and away. I'm filling boxes but have had to hold onto some. SIL knew a woman who really needed some clothes and I had some ready to go. Unfortunately, there was some sort of flare and SIL is no longer interested nor feels he needs to give this helping hand. I don't know the lady — so it is what it is. The box will go to Goodwill along with some others. I also have some nice pans and a few other odds and ends in good shape.

I would have a yard sale but our house is a bit hard to find and it really is a 'lane' as in one lane road to my house and the next house is a dead end. Not great to have much for traffic here with how we are set our here around the lake. Also, I like the fact that we are tucked in an out of the way place. Almost no one ever comes down our road by accident.

Weather is beautiful today but tomorrow sounds icky. Cool again with rain. It is 75 right now and will warm a bit more at that. I'm not looking forward to rain. We are just getting dry from the last rain.

I hope you all have a wonderful afternoon.

No sewing, betrayal. My thumbs have gotten terribly painful with arthritis lately. But my plastic surgeon gave me a cortisone shot immediately after I went unconscious. So that was a double win.

Good morning. The day looks to be a gray one — certainly starting that color. We were to have rain but none is showing in the forecast now. That seems to be our standard here this time of year. It will do what it does no matter what the weatherman thinks or predicts. Water (rain) I don't mind so much in a way, but too much gray gets to me within a day.

Canary, loved your picture as well al the rest of the St. Pat ones. I have tapes of Celtic music which I do enjoy. I have to admit though I'm a music fan of most music (not heavy metal or some brass ) but otherwise I have lots of interests. One of my all time favorites is Zamfir. He plays Pan Flute and is renowned for crafting his own flute with a couple of extra notes on it. He is older now and I don't know how much he plays, and I doubt most people have even heard of him. He was pretty popular back in the 80's though.

Nothing much on for today. On Friday I go see the Oncologist. My radiation Dr. transferred somewhere else so I'll see the chemo one. He will likely order the same test she does to check on my lung nodule and make sure it is staying clear. I presume (maybe I'll remember to ask) that it is the same as with most cancers, meaning a 5 yr. span of checking.

Lil' Red once again came home looking marvelous. He was looking really rough this time before grooming. We are thinking having her 'trim' his beard just a bit more and hoping he won't get such a forgotten refugee look to him before he finally gets his appt. My daughter is a former groomer — did it for many yrs. but went to work in the factory here as she makes more money. She did not keep her equipment, drat on that or she could at least keep him a bit neater while waiting his appt.

Hope you all have a really good day and that Spring is giving you lots of nice surprises in the yard and your weather.

Get yourself some equipment, and start trimming him. Have your daughter give you some help with learning. All you have to do is trim him as far as you and he feel comfortable. You can do it if you dont expect to be able to do a complete groom the first time.

I also remember Zamfir and Led Zeppelin. lol. I like some heavy metal and rap! As well as good opera and the classics. But there is something about Celtic music that just speaks to the soul. Even the sad tunes are uplifting.
I agree about getting some trimmers or proper clippers and have your daughter give you a wee tutorial. A bit of touch up between the groomer is good. I had a Persian cat once named SugarBear. He hated being brushed. Loved going to the vet and groomer. Lil monkey. He got a lion trim once and I was going thru a McDonalds drive thru with him and his bandana on in back seat. The gal at the till said “ you have a baby lion back there”. Haha. Furbabies give us such joy.

Very grim day out. Wind has started. Gotta go take a picture of my cherry tree before it’s bald!

    Have a good day everyone.

canarycat, love the photos and I am a big fan of Irish music. Looks like you enjoyed the day. Love the story about the Baby Lion. Misty needs to be brushed daily or she coughs up fur balls. Fortunately she likes to be brushed and will nag me until I get to it.

Had eye exam today and had a talk with staff about failure to send results to PCP. The doctor I saw today sent the letter right at the end of the exam. Glaucoma runs in my maternal line but today she informed me that I have naturally thick corneas which prevent glaucoma. This was the first I learned this and was happy she shared it. I will continue to see a retinal specialist but am being sent to a new colleague in the office. I am happy about that because the one I have been seeing is getting older and doesn't inform much. He just says everything looks good which is okay but sometimes you need to know more. Seniors get a discount on parking at this hospital but have to find someone to okay parking stub. The person who used to be in the lobby of the parking garage is no longer there but I did find someone and told them that I have difficulty getting the parking stub from the machine because it is set at the height of SUV's and I drive a sedan. I have to literally get out of my car to push "get ticket" on the touch screen which makes those behind me so happy that they beep their horns. Getting out is no fun either because you have to put the stub in front of a screen to be read and then enter your credit card. So another opportunity to climb out of my car. Today the person ahead of me had an issue so the guy who checked my stub had to leave the office to help them. When he started to go back to the office, I called out to him telling him I would need assistance, too. He came over and put his card in front of the screen and I got free parking!

Had PT but had to wear sunglasses because I was so dilated and light hurt. Will see them again tomorrow after PAT appointment.

Nurse from Stress lab called while I was out but I was able to contact them with some additional questions. Seems the handout I got no longer applies for several of the bullets on there. They were made aware of this when I asked questions about them. Seems somebody needs to revise this and they need to provide a handout that explains the test.

Today is brilliantly sunny, temp is 65 and it is very pleasant. Daffodils and hyacinths are in bloom and can see budding on the trees. Loving this weather but not sure how long it will last.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Wow!! No one has been here but me. Or — could something be wrong with my Internet. I left the quote early this morning and it's now just after 1 p.m. So, hoping everyone is fine and that we really do have internet. Lots of storms went through last night. All we seemed to have had (and still have some) is a whole lot of wind. Hope someone will get on — if nothing else just so I'll know I'm not seeing ONLY my own entries.

I just got home from having lunch with my younger sister and her granddaughter, mother of six-month-old Adelyn. We ate at a Mexican restaurant that is relatively new. I was not impressed and probably won't be going there again. Afterwards we went across the street to Target where I bought five cute little outfits for Adelyn. Also a toy. She is an adorable and pleasant baby.

Her mother, Nova, will be 20 years old on her birthday in June. The father, Josh, just turned 20. They have not married but I wouldn't be surprised if a marriage is in the future. They seem to be handling the challenge of becoming parents at a young age. It would be a miracle if their relationship is long lasting.

It's very windy today but sunny, in the 60's.

    Happy Thursday to all.

Checked in earlier but had much to do before leaving for PAT appointment. Appointment was for 12:30 but you have to check in by 12:15 and glad to see they have changed process. Finding a parking spot was the issue since they were hard to find and I wanted to be as close to building as possible since knees were sore from yesterday's PT.

Did not have to go through registration, so just a visit with NP and then being seen by MD who wrote notes that do not reflect the physical exam she charted. All she did was listen to heart and lungs and check ankles but she documented full head to toe exam, etc. Plus she attributed my one med for the wrong dx and the errors go on but I am tired of correcting them. Blood work drawn before I left, results are back and are normal. Ran to pharmacy in another town to pick-up a prescription and got home with 20 minutes to spare for PT appointment. Wolfed down a ham slider and ran off to PT which was scheduled for 3. So I left here at 11:30 and just got home for good at 4:15.

According to her I will be an overnight guest again and am glad about that since pain meds will be readily available as well be checks on me.

Hate the access to the parking garage because again the touch screen is made for an SUV and I cannot reach the "touch here for ticket" box. So climb out of my car, push button, climb back in car and while trying to retrieve ticket, door closes on my right hand finger (4) tips. So they are tender but I can bend them. Did not want to report it because I had no intentions of ending up in their ER. Can't provide details of how it happened because I just don't know and probably wouldn't be able to do it again if I tried. Klutz.

I am tired and can't have any caffeine today so I feel like I am dragging. I will be glad when tomorrow's stress test is in the past.

Sort of a mixed bag day. Cloudy with sun peeking through on occasion but temps in mid-60's so nice. Getting grayer so not sure if rain is on the agenda since I am more or less avoiding the news.

Just need to dust and swiffer the areas around the rugs in the living room. I ran the vacuum cleaner this morning. I do want to wash the foyer flooring but that can wait until the weekend. It's granite so I just put a wet cloth on the swiffer handle and wash with mild soap, rinse with clear water and then dry by walking around with a towel on my feet.

Hope everyone had a wonderful day. I'm going to take it easy tonight because I am just pooped.

    Hello All

Adelyn sounds adorable. You are a wonderful great aunt Carole.

Betrayal - I’ll be thinking of you and hoping the stress test goes well. (Hugs)

Not much new here but we are dealing with getting our house put back together after the water damage. Drywall and insulation started today and the estimate is that all should be done by April 15th although we do not have that in writing. Communication within and between the contractor and their subs is lacking so we are keeping on top of them. A few power plays between project management folks at the contractor and the insurance company. We’re hearing “I didn’t approve that or it’s not the way I do things” more often than we’d like. I firmly and politely reminded all concerned that this is our home, we pay the insurance premiums and insurance is paying the contractor. I do not like being ordered around in my own home. The contractor’s restoration project manager seems to have gotten the message, at least for now. Can’t imagine what this process is like for Sandy.

    Take care!

harley07, been there and done that though our restoration was from 11/19 to January 2023. True they had to work during Covid but that wasn't the only issue. I had to keep stating I wasn't asking for more than what I had ,but for them to remember I wanted my home returned to its former state; not asking for more than I had but wouldn't accept less either. I literally became the project manager and had to go toe to toe with the real one on occasion.

Did ask the owner, who was very combative, not to ever come to my home again and only dealt with his project manager after that. That was after they destroyed my Persian carpet from the primary bedroom and threw it on the driveway where I found it in tatters. It had gotten wet when the roof collapsed and they didn't bother to try to remove it. They never told me they had done this and I cried when I found it. It was one of a kind and turned out to be more valuable than I knew.

So I feel your pain and Sandy's as well. We were initially told it would take 6-9 months to effect all the repairs. Damage was from attic to the basement so 1/3 of the house suffered significant damage and there was collateral damage in two other bedrooms.

Gray looking this morning although I could see the orange glow of the sun in the East which is highly muted right now. It is quite cool this morning — only 33. It will get warmer.

Betrayal, Harley, Sandy and anyone who has gone through it — I was thinking of all the irritants possible after reading what you Betrayal had to deal with — and then hearing Sandy and Harley. It seems what sounds so logical and agreeable can easily go into a tangle when some of the other entities from a company get into it. We have had this happen on much more minor things even. Replacing some electric outlets — the company owner came to assess and write up a work order after we agreed on the job. The worker who came did not do it the way it was agreed upon. I learned to be okay with how it turned out — but I did raise dis-satisfaction with owner that original plans were not followed.

So in that regard, I do think things/possible dis-connect, sound even worse now. If it wasn't so maddening and upsetting AND personal, I would say it is interesting how another person can SEE the same thing as I just want what I had, to be so different from the person writing the work order when they and the owner seem to be on the same page at the time. Here's hoping that it all comes out NOW and in future for anyone having to have repairs and replacement of anything as personal as one's living space.

I'm off to see the Oncologist this morning. This one was in the same building, but the other side from the Radiation Oncologist. He does the 'chemo' oncology. He can order the tests though that Dr. Kunigal would have ordered and give me the results. Saves me from having to find/get use to anyone else IF nothing is going on.

Hope you all have a really nice day. I'm on early so saying hi to all and have a wonderful day.

Wren, how wonderful that you and your dh started out so young and grew together. That's what it takes for two young people to stay together. They have to grow together. DH was 30 and I was 26 when we married. He was ready to settle down and I was ready for new adventures. We did a lot of things together, including living on a sailboat for 9 years in a marina with other "liveaboarders." Part of our first year of marriage was spent in Vermont working at a ski lodge. We've travelled a lot of places. We agreed from the outset that we didn't want children and that choice played a big part in what we were able to do.

I woke up early and lay in bed thinking about things I find troubling, including current events and the future of this country. I guess I will have to distance myself from the big picture and focus on day to day life.

Hope all the tests and appointments go well. And the home repairs.

It will be a pretty pleasant day here, starting out in the 30's and ending up at 70 degrees with high pollen count. I read recently that New Orleans ranks 2nd in cities in the US for high pollen. Not at all surprising. A famous poem starts out "April is the cruelest month of the year." I have always agreed because of my allergy issues.

Stress test is finally over and it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Drug given to mimic exercise heart rate did cause some shortness of breath and they gave caffeine IV at end of study to counteract it. Didn't sign consent until they fully explained entire procedure to my satisfaction. Can't say they were happy about that but I believe in self-advocacy and will exercise my right when it comes to consents. I also insist on reading the consent which makes them hover, so I ask them to move back while I read the contract I am signing. Don't rush me. So now the wait for results.

We went to the local greasy spoon for breakfast and it tasted so good. I had 3 cups of coffee to make up for over 24 hours caffeine free. I am normally a tea drinker but this place makes great coffee.

Laptop has keys that are sticking and unfortunately they are 4 and j. The latter I don't use often so I have no idea why it is sticking. Will ask DS what I can do to fix them.

Today is the only day I do not have to rush out to another appointment and I am thankful. I slept well last night and woke at 6:22 but rolled over until 7 when alarm went off.

When our house was being restored during '19-'23 years I watched the guys like a hawk. When they installed the wrong quarter round (correct one was on specs which they did not follow) I made them remove it and install the correct one since they are standard through out the house. I had them changed on my dime many years ago and was not accepting something I did not have. When they tried to take shortcuts from what was on the specs list, I called them on it or asked for a rebate on charges. I ordered curtain rods to replace what I had in the primary bedroom (originals had been damaged) and asked them for a refund. Any painting I did, like woodwork in living room, I also asked for them to pay me. I only use Benjamin Moore for woodwork because it doesn't turn yellow later and though expensive, the labor is more expensive in the long run. So I knew the specs list for each room and always compared it with what they were doing to ensure my home was returned to its original state.

I used the same due diligence with the repairs to my kitchen area after the ice maker leak fiasco. It pays off, though they are not always happy about it, but it is my home and I pay exorbitant amounts to the insurance company to make sure it is protected. Luckily I was always able to stay on-site to ensure I saw firsthand what they were doing. This last group was super about asking me questions or getting me answers to mine. I would use them in a heartbeat though I am hoping I don't have to see them again. We have made many improvements to the house since we purchased it 40 years ago to keep it current. I keep a list of what has been done in each room including when it was painted, what was used and any other details I need to record maintenance. I have a few missing details but they are not crucial to maintenance just product such as name of granite counter. I don't know why I failed to record it, I just didn't.

Today is sunny, but cold due to 4 degrees and high winds. It is like winter has resumed. DH just took Regan for her walk and she was excited. She likes to sniff and needs this outlet.

wren, thank you for saying you have the same challenge at garage entrances. I just sent my letter and think it will be ignored but I am representing all those who are short and experiencing difficulty.

I hope everyone has a great day and thank all who had my back during my anxiety about this test.

@illinoislady - wishing you a good update from the oncologist

@betrayal - happy to hear the stress test is over. For me no caffeine for 24 hours would put a serious damper on my energy level. Hoping for good results.

While the renovation is a pain, the contractor has started reviewing the status and what needs to be done along with the timeline. Drywall and painting are expected to be complete by end of next week. DH had saved the paint can with label for paint on first floor. We told them to use a bright white in the basement. We aren’t sure what we used, but I’m less particular on the basement paint. The estimate on the basement flooring was very low as the flooring is from 2006. DH called the insurance company and they increased the budget for the basement laminate flooring by $1/sqft which is more reasonable. We aren’t very picky on the basement flooring but if we need to pay a bit extra out of pocket to get what we want we will do so.

We are off to Milwaukee tonight to meet up with my niece’s family. Her daughter is an elementary school music teacher and her 4th and 5th grade classes are singing the national anthem before a semi-pro indoor soccer game so we will be attending.

Cindy and Sandy - hope all is OK?

    Enjoy the weekend.

Just got a note from cardiologist on results from cardiac stress test. She gave me the all clear for surgery and that test showed for my age the amount of plaque in arteries (moderate, but no blockages noted) is not surprising. I just need to continue my statin as ordered.

So I am good to go on 4/7; so no more monkey wrenches in my plans for the next few weeks and recovery after that. I just need to be mobile by my 50th wedding anniversary on 5/10. I am very relieved and while initially annoyed with the cardiologist, realize she did act in my best interests.

Dinner out to celebrate since we have been eating a lot of leftovers lately. Bonefish Grill here we come. I want lobster.

harley07, the laminate flooring I had in our basement was from duPont and no longer available. We initially had enough to fix small area that was damaged initially. However, after they removed the gutters and we were hit by hurricane Isaias the basement flooded. The gutters had been tied into an underground water remediation system that would have prevented this. They never repaired the roof until a year later so why they removed the gutters was unknown. So now the entire floor including subfloor had to be replaced as well as some walls. During Covid, they delayed 5 months to order the flooring we initially picked so of course it was no longer available and production had been shut down for this company. So we had to pick another one. I did not want any that looked like wood grain so we had to go with a new duPont Revolution product that was more expensive than the one we first selected. They had to eat the overage and were not happy. Plus the floor installer said it was a great product but after this installation, he hoped to never do another one. It is a snap in laminate that looks like porcelain tile with its own grout product. I love it but install was a challenge for him.

So everyone enjoy their weekend. Illinoislady, hope you get a good report as well. harley07, enjoy your trip.

Yay on your good test Betrayal. You are right — A lot of Dr.'s can be such a hassle and frankly downright annoying, but hopefully, like yours, most are really trying to cover the bases and protect us and themselves. I think good Dr.'s hopefully always feel concern that they don't skimp and something negative occurs. I love my PCP but sometimes hate that she wants certain tests.

As to mine — I didn't really have a test today. I just needed to see Dr. to get one ordered. He is the chemo Dr. — other half of the team. My Radiation Dr. is the one I would normally see but she got a position closer to her home. She drove quite a way to be at St. Mary's where I go. So, I'm now switching to Dr. Farrah for my follow up on lung nodule. Last test showed it still shrinking. I will go in a couple weeks and have a CT/no contrast and if it shows well I will not need Dr. Farrah again for 6 mos. Difference is that before my next visit with him I will have a CT before I go and we can discuss results at that time.

Carole, I hope you don't have too many issues with the allergies but I do recall them being hard for you last yr. Of course, Hope should be my middle name. I try to keep plenty on hand because things can go squirrely fast — as you mentioned like with our government lately. I stay concerned.

LOL, suggestion for reducing any future cardiac issue is to reduce stress. Well, scaring me half to death doesn't produce stress? Had so much of this in last year I think it is what fuels me at times. Now I can relax, focus on PT and surgery. Thanks for the support from all of you.
