None of this spells loser with more capitals.

The cruelty truly is the point with this administration. Just today the official White House twitter feed posted an AI generated cartoon of an american ice agent handcuffing a woman with brown skin who is sobbing. This is torture porn, plain and simple. This was posted on the same day that “puppy killer” Kristi Noem, our new Secretary of Homeland Security shared a video standing in front of the humanitarian crisis of a prison in El Salvador that America should be shutting down, not using as a cudgel to threaten people with.

I’m old enough to remember in the Iraq war when pictures were released of smiling US troops in front of people undergoing horrific conditions in America’s torture prison, Abu Ghraib. Back then, it was the biggest scandal of the year; the shame of America. But now it’s literally just a photo op from the current administration to satiate the bloodlust of the Maga horde that wants to see their administration being the cruel bullies that they keep promising to be; the cruel bullies inside everyone of them that only seem to find happiness in the suffering of others.

I don’t think this fight is between the left and right anymore. I’m not even sure if it’s between the haves and the have nots; the rich and the poor. I’m pretty sure our new existential struggle is between decent human beings with human compassion and empathy vs a bunch of monstrous bullies that just wanna get their way in the world through brute force, no matter how many people they have to crush to do so. We truly are in the battle for the soul of America and we cannot let them win.

Something to think about.

So past time for people like her to hit the road.

The above is maddening, but most of us just have to sit back at present and watch in horror. I don't even want to imagine this woman ending up back in Russia. So easy for those who have known little if any distress in their life to be so un-thinking, quite casual indeed, in their treatment of people who are displaying so much allegiance to us. Here we have in comparison to Russia — all the freedom in the world, but oh how Trump and 2025 along with Musk are working on destroying that.

The damaged and destroyed lives, if people even end up living through all this is beyond me totally. The years it may take to restore decency and care again. Mind blowing.
