Recurrence Fears
I am currently 7 years out and have just recently stopped living in constant fear of recurrence.
Update to that progress tonight….Recently I have been noticing that if I rest my arm/elbow on some thing, armrest, table, etc. I get pins and needles in my hands.
I started checking with Dr Google and down the rabbit hole I went… now worried I have recurrence in my nerves.
Now I do have lymphedema, and I read that can contribute to pins and needles. I had a clear PET scan 3/4 months ago and nothing showed up….help talk me down, please….
I have my six month oncologist appt on Monday and will of course discuss it them, but man, I hate this fear! TIA

Hi @heatherpsalm34-4, For some reason we seem to be on parallel paths. A while ago we both had elevated liver enzymes. Mine are slowly coming down. A hepatologist is pretty sure the cause is drug induced liver injury from lovastatin even though this is rare. She did a fibroscan which showed low fibrosis and no fatty liver even though the US radiologist put me at stage 1. I was on the drug for two years which seems to be the reason for the slow recovery. It looks like the PET showed nothing in your liver.
Along with the extreme fatigue and insomnia which is starting to get better I have weakness, numbness and muscle wasting in my right hand. I started having issues some months ago but thought it was part of the general malaise. Now I keep dropping things, can’t use my inhaler, put in eyedrops or turn a key in a lock with my right hand. My only pain is an intermittent ache in my axilla.. My MO ordered a MRI to check for a tumor in the nerves. I just got the result which thankfully showed no cancer. There is some fibrosis but it is unchanged from 2022. I see my MO Wednesday and will probably get referred to neurology. My PCP has ordered a MRI of my cervical spine even though I have no neck pain since I always get the severe degenerative cervical spine changes comment on chest CTs. Another possibility is concurrent wrist and elbow nerve entrapment since my whole hand is affected. I have a far off appointment with a hand surgery PA.
There are many causes of nerve dysfunction and lymphedema is one of them. I have breast LE so the first thing my MO checked was my arm which is still within normal range. It’s hard to pin down a cause.
Given your clear PET the issue could very well be nerve compression. Once again we can be buddies on this latest medical mystery tour.

calming down some…..it is more likely to be lymphedema and nerve cancer…as it is more rare. Thank you Jesus for calm
