AC - T or TC chemo

Hi,

My name is Julie and I am 51 years old. I was diagnosed in July 2025 with invasive ductal carcinoma in my left breast. I am ER + and PR+ HER2 -Through an MRI, we discovered I had a primary tumor that was 1.7 cm and then a smaller nodule of cancer beside it. I opted for a double mastectomy and they found cancer in 2 out of 4 of my lymph nodes and cancer had grown out of a node - extracapsular extension. They did get clean margins on the cancer in my breast. I have had 2 opinions about treatments and I just wondered what other women with a similar cancer profile have chosen to do? My first oncologist recommended AC-T chemotherapy and my second oncologist recommended TC chemotherapy. I think it would be a clear TC choice if it hadn't been in my lymph nodes but the second oncologist felt like since it was only 2 lymph nodes were affected, TC was the better choice because of the risks of the AC-T. Anyone had the same choice or a smiliar choice? It is as clear as mud to me as to what I should do.

  • Hi Julie. My name is Nicole, I am 46 and in the same position but with lobular carcinoma that made it into 3 lymph nodes and an intermediate Oncotype score of 22. One doctor wanted to be more aggressive with the AC-T but was "ok" with the TC version at the extended treatment of 6 instead of just 4. The other one said that the TC is more recommended due to the adverse effects of AC-T without the clear benefit to it for my lobular type that isn't as responsive to chemo. So I'm going with the TC.

  • Thank you Nicole.
