Online Medical Consultations – Has Anyone Tried Them?
hello everyone
I got tired of searching for a good doctor, so I decided to look online for medical consultations via video conferencing.
I don’t fully trust the direction I’ve taken regarding changing my treatment from Kisqali to Afinitor, especially since it caused side effects that have now forced me to stop the medication.
I was wondering if anyone here has tried online medical consultations ?
I heard that there is a hospital in Germany called Heidelberg University Hospital that offers video consultations, provided that all medical reports submitted are no older than three months.
After the consultation, the doctor proposes a treatment plan based on your condition.
Has anyone heard about this or tried online medical consultations?

Hi Norah ❤️
Yes — it appears that Heidelberg University Hospital cancer center does offer international patients the option to submit recent medical records through their telemedicine portal for a video consultation or second opinion. They generally require reports to be up to date (often no older than about 3 months), just as you mentioned.
Given how much uncertainty you’re feeling about switching from Kisqali to Afinitor and the side effects you’ve had, seeking an outside expert opinion can be a very reasonable step for reassurance and clarity.
Just wondering — are you currently in the U.S. or elsewhere? If you are in the U.S., there are also several major cancer centers (like MD Anderson, Memorial Sloan Kettering, Dana-Farber, Mayo Clinic, etc.) that offer remote second-opinion programs as well, which might be easier logistically.
If you decide to pursue Heidelberg or another center, it can help to ask upfront what the consultation includes, costs, and whether they can coordinate recommendations with your local oncology team afterward.
We’re really glad you posted, Norah and would love to hear how a second, or remote, consultation goes! 💗
