Recently diagnosed. 1/27/26 IDC grade2, Stage 1A ER+
Decided on double mastectomy, having mri with contrast today, then meet again with breast & plastic surgeons on 2/19 to schedule procedure. Anxious, scared, feeling like I'm forgetting something…..just crazy

Hi @georgy ,
This part can feel like such a whirlwind — and honestly, kind of surreal. One minute you’re making huge decisions, the next you’re scheduling MRIs and surgery consults. Of course you’re anxious and scared. And that “I must be forgetting something…” loop? So many of us have been there.
You’re not crazy at all. You’re just processing something really big.
We’re really glad you posted. If you want to talk through what’s on your mind before the 19th, we’re here for you. 💛

Hi @georgy
Sorry you have had to join us in this not so exclusive 'club', but very glad you have found us.
Getting a dx is really a gut punch isn't it? Wham! Your world just turns upside down.
Take a deep breath. You WILL get through this. Take things one step at a time. It sounds like you are well on your way and hopefully you can solidify your plan on the 19th. Once that plan is in place, it often calms you a bit as you can then go on and see the path through this as you check each box along the way.
We are here for you.
Take care.

Hi @georgy. I hope your appointments go really well tomorrow! Everything you are feeling is normal, not crazy.
I sometimes still think ‘did I really go through all that’? The initial appointments were such a blur! I never even asked my plastic surgeon to show me examples of his work. I also forgot to ask what the recovery would be like and how long would I have restrictions. The diagnosis truly blindsided me and I was on autopilot during those appointments. I’m grateful my surgeons were so kind and guided me to decisions that looked beyond the initial panic of needing to just get rid of the cancer.

Hi All,
My MRI w/contrast of course confirm my tumor (just a little larger 2.5c). A lymph node within the breast, the radiologist suggested more testing and also noted that my tumor butts up right up to my chest wall. My surgeon noted that the lymph node is mute as I am having a bilateral mastectomy, she will however take some of my chest muscle while in to ensure she's gotten good margins. My surgery date, March 16th! I love having a plan….
