Hey @daphne12777! Thanks for checking in! I'm about 2.5 weeks post surgery with tissue expanders and today was a good day! Before today, I would feel good for a few hours at a time then lousy again. It seems the expanders are taking some getting used to - they just seem to ache at times. One thing I've appreciated is a Revix ice pack a friend got me. I just lay it across my chest while watching tv and it helps with the aching. Oh, another tip, ask someone else to track your medicine for you after surgery. I was definitely in a fog for several days - maybe even weeks - after surgery and couldn't deal with that.

I know you mentioned the mental aspects of this in an earlier post and I had a really hard time with that before surgery. One good thing is that I haven't had much time to worry about the mental load because I've been so focused on healing and feeling good again. I'll be thinking about you on Monday and waiting for your update. But don't type too soon. It hurts :) Go get that cancer, girl!

Updates for me. 5 weeks post bilateral mastectomy. TEX are awful but slowly becoming less awful. I had planned a DIEP flap....but I have decided I am not going to move forward with that. I didn't recover well from the MX and don't want to put myself through another big surgery. I will either have implants or go flat, but leaning towards implants.

What a crazy and difficult journey. I hope you are all well and recovering.

  • Thank you! Im feeling better than expected and my loved ones are taking care of me around the clock. Every little movement hurts but Iโ€™m taking the meds consistently so Iโ€™m sure it could be worse. Thanks for checking in and I hope youโ€™re continuing to heal well too!

  • Thank you so much! I'm recovering well, one day at a time. I took a walk around the block today and I've been doing online yoga and wellness classes. My mood has been good and I mostly feel relieved now that the waiting is over. The expanders are painful at times so I appreciate the ice pack recommendation. Hope you're doing well too!
