Hey! Hey! Ginny made it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!WONDERFUL! Now on to rads! You're on the downhill slide now!
Cathy..I hope #3 went well today.
It was between my second and my third treatment that I first noticed much hair loss. At first it seemed pretty drastic and I was afraid that I would be one of the unfortunate CMFer's that lost all my hair, but the rate of loss tapered off. I probably lost about 60% but most people couldn't really tell.
CY...congrats on that new grandchild! You've just been given another reason to fight! They are so precious!
Thanks Candie for all your positive vibes and encouragement!
I have to run. I tutor a boy this afternoon and need to get organized (if possible). Catch you all later. Hope everybody had a good day.

CY Many congrats on Hayden!!!

Melanie........I LOVE YOUR PICTURE! I'm so glad you posted one. Now we know who we are talking to!!!!

Thank you. I was at a party in the fall where there were stylists there to do your hair and make-up...that is what the pic is from.
Thanks,
melanie0 -
Rita, So far so good with #3 and thanks for the info on your hair loss. Hopefully mine will start to taper off also.
CY, Congratulations on grandbaby #5 i bet he is just beautiful.
Melanie, what a nice picture and a beautiful smile you have.
Hope all is doing well tonight.0 -

Thank you so very much all you lovely ladies! Yup, I'm done with my chemo---hurray! We have a bell at chemo that you ring when you are finished, boy did I ring that bell loud. Stepped out the door, hugged my husband and had a big cry. Relief and thanksgiving cry. I almost quit a few times there, and I have to say for any of you who may have those feelings, don't give up! Hang in there you will get through it! I'm so very thankful for all of your support through this. I am there for you new ladies---you will get through this too!
Cy, congrats on your lovely grandchild. What a wonderful miracle and joy. You are in my prayers for a complete recovery and extra grace to get through.
Nice to see you Melanie. You look like you have thick hair, so don't worry. I lost about 50-60%, and as Rita has said, no one really notices it. The hair falling out all over the place, especially in the shower and when you comb it out wet, is a little disturbing, but I figure we are very blessed not to lose it all! I think we are one of the only treatments where you don't always lose it all.
Rita, what gorgeous flowers you sent to CY. You are so special!
Don't worry I will not desert this board. Just needed a few days off with my chemo fun. By Sunday all should be back to normal and I will be so enjoying the month off. I do need a little surgery to get my port out in a few weeks---but that is no biggy. I have loved my port, but it will be nice to have my one boob free of contraptions, lol!
I hope everyone just starting this regime is doing well. So many good tips on this board. If you go back to the beginning and read, you will learn lots of helpful stuff. Not to mention, we are here to help you as well!
Big (((hugs))) to everyone,
Ginny0 -
Hayden is beautiful!!

Hayden came home last night. So when I get some strength back I 'll walk down as see him I' pretty sore from the port placement but other wise doing well I figure I'll feel yge affects of the chemo later today or tomorrow. In the meantime I'm just going to take it easy.
Ginney I'm so please you are through with the chemo Before you know it you hair will be full and you won't know what to do with it. Just look at mine. I had straight hair before! now it goes where it wants to.
Well I'm getting tired but wanted to let you all know I will be checking up on yo
God bless you all0 -
Hoping everyone is doing well and enjoyed the 4 day weekend. Tomorrow is back to work. The pills didn't agree with me as well as they have been. Stomache was kinda queasy the past two days. Still have another week of the pills. Wednesday I will have my 4 tx. Then off for two weeks.Boy how I wish the two weeks of taking the pills went as fast as the two weeks off. Well hope everyone is doing well as haven't read any post over the weekend

All the best Cathy this Wednesday. Remember to try and drink tons of water and if your anti-nausea pills aren't working, change or add to them. I finally added steroids, which actually helped a great deal. Before you know it you will be on your "chemo holiday".
Take care.
CY, what a beautiful boy! Lots of love to help you through this now. Hope you are doing alright. Take it easy!
((hugs)) to everyone!

Ginny...so how does it feel to be a "free woman" for now? It's a nice reprieve, isn't it? I also wanted to tell you that I think the bell idea at the oncology center is so neat. I can just see you ringing the H**** out of it when you left.
Cheryl...how are you handling the side effects of this new chemo? I have been thinking about you and praying for the best. Check in often and keep us updated.
I finished my last regular rad treatment today...now 7 boosts and I'm finished. Then I guess I meet with the oncologist to discuss the last two chemo treatments. Wouldn't it be nice if he said I didn't need them and we moved right on to Arimidex? (Wishful thinking I believe, but without hope, we have nothing!)
Hope all of you are doing well and enjoyed your holiday weekend. Post often.

HI all! took another break from the boards again.
I had to take an extra wk off from my tx due to low white counts again. I guess maybe I should do 2 wks on and 3 wks off instead of 2wks off. Hopefully when I go Fri my counts will be back up so I can get my infusion.
I went to my daughter's yesterday to say goodbye. She is leaving for Italy on Thurs. She will be there for 6 wks taking art courses. I will miss her and worry about her daily.
Glad to hear from everyone doing so well and to those of you that have finished...Congrats!
Sorry to hear about the hair loss..I have noticed just a little thinning so far. I think I have had 4 tx so far I lost count.
I had CT scan on Fri and it showed my liver mets are stable so that is good. Onc said no reason for brain MRI unless the headaches come back.
I also had a problem with tearing eyes. I have been putting visine in 2x day and it has helped tremendously.0 -
Hi all,
I had my 3rd infusion yesterday. I had to wait 3 hours for a room. They were so backed up from the Memorial Day holiday. There was some trouble with my vein so i forgot to ask for a slow drip...well a few minutes later i was reminded by a smashing headache. They then slowed it down and gave me Tylenol. But it is over and I am that much closer to this being over...we all are!!
Keep smiling!
-Melanie0 -
Hi everyone!
Oh, Melanie, it's bad enough to have to go into the chemo room but to have to wait for 3 hours before you even get in! YIKES!!!! I would have been a mess before I ever got started.
Cheryl...thinking of you and hoping that you're doing O.K. Let us know how it is going.
The weather in Illinois is just lovely today. I felt so lucky to be on the golf course.
Hope everyone is doing well today. Hang in there.

Rita, it feels wonderful I did ring the heck out of that bell.It is hard to believe though that I'm not going back in 2 weeks. What a great time of year to be finished! I've been swimming and doing lots of gardening. Will have my port surgery for removal in 2 weeks. As much as I have loved my port, it will be great not to feel like I have a bionic boob, lol! Congrats on finishing your rads Rita (almost done your boosts too!) How did you fair overall with rads? I'm a little nervous, you know the unknown once again. But no nausea with rads, so I'm not as concerned. I'm fair, but guess I'll just take it one day at a time and try not to worry about any future problems. One day at a time living is so helpful.
Rita, if you have to do 2 more CMF treatments, don't worry it will fly by and you will be all done! My second last treatment I barely had any side effects! Maybe your body handles it better with time. Any all the best!
Hi Catgirl! Either spreading out your treatments, or if you can, getting a neulasta shot, should improve your white blood cell count. I did both and it really helped. Don't worry about the hair loss,it is gradual and yes at the end you have less hair, but as I figure it, we still have hair to work with! As I just finished, my hair is noticeably thinner; however, I'm going to get a new hair cut, maybe shorter, streak it, and look forward to all the new lovely hair that will be growing back. So hang in there!0 -
Melanie, are you almost half way done? It is great to mark it off on your calendar and see the end coming up sooner each time! Hope #3 went alright for you.
Hang in there everyone, this will not last forever. There are many good days ahead for all of us. We have today, cherish it. No one has a guarantee about tomorrow, no one. So just put your energy into today! You will be blessed!
((hugs)) Ginny0 -
power to computer room is out will check back in a few days, but I'm doing good so far!
you all take care!0 -
Is it safe to go swimming in an outdoor pool when your blood count is low?
0 -
ranchette..I wouldn't go swimming in a public outdoor pool with low WBC...too many things cannot be killed by chlorine..I learned the hard way!!

CY good to see you...sending hugs...

CY...Thanks for checking in! I've been wondering about you!
Rita0 -
rigged up some electricty so I can check on you all. It looks like I won't have it long and may have to wait as Mom took Dad to the hospital tonight. He's not feeling right! I wonder why, he only had quadruple heart by pass 2 moths ago and here he is trying to redo the wiring in my bathroom! Stubborn man, now you know where I get it from! My PARENTS!
Hope you all are well. I'm doing good so far.
hugs & prayers!0 -
Cheryl, Sure hope your Dad is O.K. and I'm so glad to hear that things are going O.K. for you. You are quite the gal....at this point we should be checking on you instead of you checking on us! No matter who does the checking, just keep coming back!!!!
Rita0 -
Good morning all,
Well, my 3rd infusion was last Tues. and I am still not feeling well. I sure do hope that this is not a sign of things to come. In any event each day I am closer to finishing, we ALL are.
I hope others are feeling better than I am today.
