Good morning, Loungettes! Blustery and snowy, but so far nothing like I was expecting. Sounds like the wind is going to be a bigger problem than the snow, which is fine with me. Power outages are a pain, but bearable. As long as I can make coffee I'm happy!

Cammy--an antibiotic can't protect you from a cold. Colds are caused by a virus, and antibiotic only work on bacteria. At least the antibiotic will help keep you from getting bronchitis or sinusitis. Rest and dwink lots!

DorKable--good for you for napping instead of making a likker run! The likker store will be there after the storm is over. I don't mind driving in snow, but sleet and freezing rain is a whole other storry!

Wahine--I think it's just the winter cold season hitting us. I'm coming down with a cold or something too, but I spend my days in nursing homes and in an office full of health care workers, almost all of whom have colds or something. I suppose it was inevitable. Hmm, I should have gotten some Zicam yesterday. Wait, I think I've got some in the bathroom tucked away, gonna check that before I leave for work this ayem. Mema--don't tell anyone, but I'm not a big fan of Elvis, either. I've not used Truvia, I'll have to look for it. The sugar substitute I like best is Sun Crystals, but it's hard to find.
Rakul! Good to see you in the Lounge, missed you! I've seen how much the drainings take out of people, wish you didn't have to go through that. It's good your DD is with to help take care of you. Constant pain is such a downer and drainer of energy, I know. But you don't have to stay away because of what's going in, we worry more when we don't hear from you! Keep us up to date! I wish I was closer so I could manage your care, then you would definitely be comfortable all the time, I'd see to it! Keep in mind that alcohol is a greatly under used pain killer.
Beanie--getting blind sided by memories is a recurrent visitor in our lives, or at least in mine. Sometimes I can figure out what is triggering a melt down, sometimes I can't. I've figured out it's just easier to keep a bottle of xanax handy and take one when I start melting. One of those, a cuddle with Sadie and a nap and I'm usually able to get over it. A good slug of Rudolph Punch helps, too!
DorKable--Oh, my goodness, Titty Farts!!!!! Probably TMI for Fb, but good for a giggle here in the lounge! What's happening is the peroxide, when it fizzes, is releasing hydrogen and oxygen from the solution. The oxygen is what kills bacteria and the fizzing helps clean out infected holes. The fizzing goes on after the visible fizzing is over, so some oxygen and hydrogen do build up in the hole, and eventually it has to come out. Thus, Titty Farts!

- Crushed ice
- 2 ounces pineapple juice
- 2 ounces orange juice
- 1-ounce lime juice
- 1/2 (14-ounce) can coconut milk
- 3 ounces Pusser's dark rum
- 1-ounce simple syrup
- Dash freshly grated nutmeg, optional
- Cinnamon stick
- Orange slices, for garnish
- Pineapple wedges, for garnish
In a pitcher filled with ice, add all the ingredients, except for the garnish, and stir until combined. Pour into individual glasses and garnish with the orange slices and pineapple wedges.

Everyone around us is getting loads of snow--so far we're not OOH we'll get it soon I'm sure.

NM, thanks for the explaination. Have to tail you though, this titty farting thing is getting out of hand, it started out to be such fun but now I am worried about going back to work next week. I was standing in line at my pharmacy and guess what happened as I approached the check out? Yep, a loud titty fart. I said "oh excuse me, that sound was a hole in my chest, gas from the peroxide". Ok is all she said. I would not be surprised if my pharmacist puts in a call to my doctor to tell him to have my mental state checked!

Well, turns out I won't be eligible for h.o.s.p.I.c.e until the Dr. signs off that I have six months to live, and will not be receiving any more curative treatments, only palliative therapy. Don't think I'm ready to throw in the towel quite yet. Still hoping to find that magical mixture that will keep me strong and well forever more. CynCyn--yup, I was battened down, worked extra hard Wed so I could work a short day yesterday, and after all that it didn't turn out to be as big a problem as advertised. OK, now I'm curious, how do you know you have a ghost?????
ORLA--doing nothing productive all day is a GOOD thing once in a while!

DorKable--When you do your titty hole care just before going back to work put a little corner of gauze down into the hole, sort of like the wick on a candle. Make sure it's thick enough to keep the edges of the hole from touching where the gauze is. That will give the gas a way out without flapping the wound edges (that's what makes the fart sound). That should at least quiet the titty farts. Your pharmacist probably thought you were trying to cover up a REAL fart!
Cammy--good idea to stay in, don't forget to open a window for a few minutes a couple times a day to freshen the air and decrease the number of bacteria/viruses floating around. And don't forget to wash your pillows when this is over! Katie-Kat kuddles are the best, aren't they?
Rakul--Yes, I am of the nurse persuasion and currently working as a Hospice nurse. I know it sounds bad, but I'm glad you're having tumor flare pain from the doxil, that's an encouraging sign that it's working. I'm glad you aren't eligible for hospice yet, but I wish you could still get the pain control part of it. Does your area have a Palliative Care doc or team? They can help with pain and symptom control while you are getting curative treatment, so best of both worlds. You don't have to put up with substandard pain management just because you are getting curative treatment. Pain control is a big issue with me after I went through a couple of years of uncontrolled severe pain from radiation side effects. I know how life ruining that kind of pain can be, and it's even worse when no one believes you even have pain. And denial is a good thing in moderation, so enjoy a good dose and feel better!
Princess Glitter Sizzle's DOTD is the Doxil Booster (for Rakul)
- fluid ounces bubblegum-flavored vodka
- 1 fluid ounce sweet and sour mix
- 1/2 fluid ounce vanilla vodka
- 1/2 fluid ounce strawberry vodka
- 1 dash maraschino cherry juice
- 2 fluid ounces dry champagne
Pour the bubble gum vodka, sweet and sour mix, vanilla vodka, strawberry vodka, and maraschino cherry juice into a cocktail shaker over ice. Cover, and shake until the outside of the shaker has frosted. Strain into two chilled glass, and top with champagne to serve.

NM...my Christmas ghost story.
My apartment has two locks...a lock on the door handle that you just twist to lock when you leave and close the door behind you. There is also a deadbolt that you either have to twist lock from the inside or use a key to lock from the outside if you are on your way out. I never do that because its a pain in the ass and I'm lazy..its unnecessary as well...so I just lock the bottom lock..check the door to make sure its locked by pullig/pushing on it once its closed. Christmas day about 530pm I clamored up my staircase with my arms full of chit..and I put my key in the bottom lock to unlock my door...my door wouldnt budge because..you guessed it...the top lock was engaged...now this is the second time this has happend to me..the other time was when I got home from Texas and at that time not only was my deadbolt locked but my stairwell lights were on (something that I wouldnt do before a 2 week trip espeically seeing there is a switch at the bottom and top of the stairs)...also the two sliding glass doors were unlocked...doesnt seem like much but chit...I didnt do it..which means someone was here or its a ghost....I went down stairs and asked the group of neighbors that had been talking if anyone had heard or seen anyone in my apartmen while I was gone....the 14yo girl in the apt below me said she did ..she heard someone running (not walking) accross my floor that afternoon about 1pm. I was at my parents from about 1030am - 530pm. My next door neighbor who has been living here for about 3 years said that she has often heard noises coming from this apt and had thought it was haunted....Well, I emailed my landlord...not claiming to have a ghost but just to as who else may have a key and mentiolned what i came home to and that it wasnt the first time. He has offerd to change the locks...he mentioned that I should contact the Venice police dept...well, nothing has been disturbed or stolen....idk..in closing he mentioned that nothing like this has ever happend before in their experience...
Anyway..thats my story and Im sticking to it.

Good Morning all---One way to start the day is Cn's ghost story--well first zi would have the locks changed, and surprisingy no one came forward with a story--usually one persons like to tell a ood ost story. But whoever was in the before might now have been open to the spirit world so nothin happened. And the burning of sae is good but u have to have a phs=ysic tat's usually with the kinder spirits wo really want to leave.There's lots more but to much info sounds not so good and so far this sounds good. bbbbut just change the locks anyway, first.
Oh I do open my window with a fan facing outward and blocked all around it and it's pretty constant and I did see a few flaes of snow here., but I don't think we're getting much more, IDK

I am afraid to put anything in there. It is hard enough putting the Qtip in the hole and cleaning it out. I get so scared that I will lose the qtip in there since I am able to put it in all the way, ick. I am glad that the storm was not as bad as expected and that you did not lose your electric.

So I did. Is that an awful thing to do.? I feel bad that I did that for some reason. Oh well it's done.

Camille, Kathy arrived in NJ a few hours ago and is probably just checked into "our" hotel. She texed me and asked me to let everyone know. Checking on your team of doctors is ABSOLUTELY a good thing to do, it is not cheating, it is ensuring that you are getting the care YOU deserve, Cam. I was happy to hear that your doc called back quickly and got you some drugs. And I hope your pee test results are poyfect!
So about my Mom, she has been falling out of bed and also falling in the house. My Dad was not able to pick her up and had to get help from their neighbor. Their place is very remote but they have one neighbor who is close enough to walk to their place, he is a gem. So Dad ended up taking her to the ER and it had been discovered that she has a blood clot in her leg. They are putting her on meds and will keep her overnight. In the mean time, a social worker is looking for somewhere to place her as my Dad is now admitting he can not do this alone.
I am getting so fircited to see Kathy. I hope mese can behave and not get thrown out of de hotel. Ya know, I have a history of that hehe. I can't hailp dat mese dwink so much and gits a widdle a lot rouwdy, ooops I did it again, oops I always sez.
Well I have to go and get some likker in my blood cuz it friedey night and mese gotta partay. I wish I could partay with all ye but I has stuff to do and waiting on my DD to come home.

I say no more cept dat our Mema Sue, my dahling beautimous goil Chrissy and now Kathy see what I do when mese excited. And what is dat? I talk. I talk talk talk and has a hard time listening. Cuz mese excited and when mese excited, mese feels that I gonna pee mese pants. So I talk. Ok den, that my sercet, i mean sercret. oh de werd won't type, bad werd.
I had someting else to say to Cyndie and now can't bremember. So I tink I will hit de key below dat sez submit den maybe jest maybe edit dis cuz mese talk and mese talk and mese talk. I twy to listen when yese talk, ok? dis mese promise I try hard. so hard in fact, dat it is sort o hard like mr big's tingy when he see Katwinka in NJ! She don't know but she has three faborite tenders and dey all gonna pamper here and make her relax, enjoy de wedding and eben enjoy her time with widdle craaazy mese. okay, I shut up now. when I tink of what mese wanted to say to two more goils, I come back. why you ask? cuz mese had a nap, some apple pie jest now and coffee at 11:20 pee em so dat I stay up late enough to do two chit loads of laundry.
