Good morning friends- TGIF! Hope everyone's week has been good. I have had a busy and productive week with business networking. Went to a prof org meeting last night and connected with a colleague, and told him I am looking so we are going to get a meeting set up for early in March. More leads! Getting contacted by a lot of recruiters about travel jobs too, and did submit for one thing that is mostly remote with a bit of travel. Getting closer and told myself after getting some things resolved on some tax form issues, I need to get on this to get my info in to my accountant so that work is done. It's been a good week on the business front.

Got a nice surprise e-mail from one of my cousins from the family that always finds there way out west for visits. She and her husband are coming out west in mid-March and will be visiting another friend in my city, so they should have a couple days here in town. They are looking to see some of the desert in bloom, and advised them to head to the low desert have a better view of that to head down to southern NM and over to the Sonoran desert in southern AZ.

NM- very happy belated birthday. It sounds like you had a nice afternoon yesterday with the family celebrating your special day and that of others. Did Sadie get to join your get together yesterday?

Goldie- I have lurked a bit on FB and saw you have been cleaning up around your place, including your vehicles. I am going to get a few things done outside this morning before I head to my errands this afternoon. We will have rain here tomorrow and Sunday and supposedly some high winds on Sunday (yuck). Thanks for your continued support around my family situation. I have not heard from my sis in a couple days and going to call her this morning to check in. I love St Patty's day, used to celebrate it more back east where there were lots of Irish folks.

Ill- sending much love on this Friday and hoping things are better for you. There are BCO sisters all pulling for you here with their love and prayers and wishes for better days.

Teka- still getting snow in north country?

Cami, Chi, Misty, Minus, Celia C, and everyone else here, wishing you a good Friday. It is also National Margarita day. Make me proud ladies.

Oh see when I put my gif up, I usually follow that with my post, I fell asleep an just wanted to check in and I remembered I didn't even write anything. Oh I don't have dementia but this is my brain ????????? and this is my brain on drugs.????????? so u see it all works out.

Illi I was hoping to see u, I hope u have a better day today.

And Mary how are u doing, Also thinking of you. Lots of prayers today.

Kim sounds like u had a nice BD and being with family is the best, Well I think ur loosing the battle of the home vs condo debate so just go with it, but always remember and never forget these 4 little words "I told you so" not nice to say to ur mom but u take what u can. There is always the she can live with u when the time comes, but I know I could never live with my mom, I could with my dad but never my mom and I totally loved her.

Jazzy for St. Patricks day the Chicago river was always green, I don't know if they still do that. Sandy would know , but that was always a huge holiday around here, parades and all, Marty is 1/2 Irish and that whole family goes crazy, of course that means Joey is 1/4th BUT i always push St. Joseph's day 2 days later but for the most part people have forgotten about that one. Joey usually remembers cuz he'll wear red that day, one of his favorite colors cuz he can really see the color. His closet is color coded with each group but red speaks for itself.

All of u stop cleaning, ur driving me crazy besides when it's spring and spring cleaning comes u won't have anything to do.It's called spring cleaning for a reason, not mid winter cleaning.

OMG I did it again, I started this and thought I sent it. WTF is the matter with me. I'm sending now.

Cami- I think they do still color the river green, think I have seen it on TV in the past. But I bet Chi or others might know better. Red is my fav color too, so Joey and I are on the same page on that along with the music thing.

I’m doing ok ladies, still can’t really eat but I was put back on low dose steroids to stop the radiation induced nausea and vomiting, so at least I’m keeping what I get in down. It’s not fun but I’m getting by. Thanks for caring ❤️

Happy belated birthday, Kim! Hope it was a good one.

Ilona, good to hear your nausea is waning--and you are definitely rocking those shades!

They definitely do still dye the river green on St. Patrick's Day. In fact, RPM Seafood on the river is doing a big brunch buffet with a "dye watch" party. (Hope it's not just green beer). The most bizarre food for the holiday is green bagels. Eeeeuwww...

My housekeeper's BIL died Wed. (on his 57th birthday), down in South Bend, IN. He had brittle Type 2 diabetes all his adult life--became blind in his "good" eye and lost a leg. He was on dialysis and his PICC line ruptured his vein--he bled out in minutes. He had planned to have his sister take him to the casino, but it was not to be. So we're going down there for the funeral Wednesday. (Had to reschedule a bunch of appointments). Unfortunately, S. Bend is in the heart of "lake effect snow" country--once, my band played a concert at a UU church there, and when we arrived we had to dig out of 18" of snow to find the key that was left for us so we could set up (and play to only the staff). Our lovely mini-spring weekend will draw to an abrupt close by mid-afternoon Tues., and the snow (while it will be gone from here by Wed.) will be brutal over on that side of the lake. The drive will be awful--the funeral is at noon, but our original plan to leave Chicago at 8 am (remember, we lose an hour crossing into Eastern time) would be thwarted not just by rush hour traffic but snowy roads and possible white-out conditions. So I'll probably drive down on Tues. and get a hotel suite, leaving a key for my housekeeper & her DH (it was his brother) after he finishes his own dialysis session over at the Hines V.A. (almost as long a drive to S. Bend as it is from here). There is the possibility that the weather may be so bad that my housekeeper & BIL may miss the funeral--their older sister is arriving from Memphis on Monday. I barely knew him--met him maybe once or twice in the past 35 years. (My godson--his nephew--and fiancee will try to drive down early from Hyde Park, which is about 40 minutes south of here). Nightmare scenario is that I might be the only one of the Chicago contingent to be able to make it. (His mom was Gordy's first baby-nurse; when she had to move on to a new assignment, her DIL--my housekeeper--became Gordy's nanny). Jonny--the baby of the family--was the first of the 5 siblings to pass away, and my housekeeper's DH is not in great shape himself.

So another side effect of this is that I had to reschedule my ENT appointment--for which I had to wait 4 weeks to begin with. Earliest I could get is March 19--which means I have to put up with this effing pulsatile tinnitus (which sounds like soldiers marching on cat litter in rhythm) for another month! Bob thinks I should try Northwestern or Rush to see if I can be seen by a neurotologist or vascular specialist there earlier. Everything I read says that unilateral pulsatile tinnitus (hearing my heartbeat in one ear) is a symptom of something more serious, and it's outrageous that I should have to wait two months to see an actual specialist, much less get diagnostic scans done. North Shore made me see an audiologist first, as a gatekeeper (basically, to rule out earwax or a middle ear infection). I wasn't even allowed to make an ENT appt. till I'd seen her first to have my hearing tested. Meanwhile, thank heaven for Xanax and CBD--otherwise I'd never get any sleep due to "the army in my ear."

DsOTD was decaf almond-milk breve cappuccino, a cortado (bigger than a macchiato, smaller than a cappuccino) at a café, CBD-spiked blood orange seltzer and 3 oz. of Mumm's Napa Brut Reserve. I was eyeing Bob's bottle of Pierre Ferrand Ambre cognac on the sideboard...naaah.

Jazzy, the dessert blooms are so pretty and even hard to believe. Every year we say we are gonna go the the dessert botanical garden, maybe this year we will make it! Nice to hear you have family coming. We are just selling the one vehicle. It's an F250 diesel, DH wants the F150 gas. Too much maintenance on diesel. Same weather for us today and tomorrow.

Cami, I think all of us have brains on drugs!

    See the source image

BabyGirl, glad you are checking in and you are getting help with the steroids and keeping things down. Hoping things are starting to heal. Do the doctors say how long this could take?

Sandy, safe travels to S. Bend and good luck with getting into the ENT sooner than later.

Call of the Wild was good. Harrison doesn't make an appearance until about half way through the movie. Very kid friendly as well. A movie for dog lovers for sure. My brother is in Cancun and took some ashes of my mom, and 2 other very good friends that passed. They spread the ashes in the ocean during sun rise and later in the day, behold a rainbow.

Good Morning, Loungettes!Happy Sunny Saturday ayem! My brother and SILL are coming up for a visit, so going over to Mom and Dick's for the day. Working tomorrow, but he census is low and it should be a calm day. Sadie is looking forward to going for a ride and getting some extra attention.

Goldie --I actually have one of those little rototillers, and it works great for what I do, which is little projects. When Mom talks about a garden she's talking about BIG gardens, like 10 feet by 10 feet. She won't think about something smaller, and I think she forgets she doesn't need veggies to can for a family for the winter. I heard about the dog in the movie being computer generated. You'll have to let us know how realistic it is.

Oh, my, what a Birthday Party!

Jazzy--thanks for the birthday wishes. Sadie didn't go with me Thursday, but she is going with today.

Cammy Cat--I did have a nice birthday, thanks. I'm not arguing house vs condo or anything else with Mom, just listening to her as she natters on about the whole thing. Her choice, her life, her money. I learned a long time ago to never say "I told you so" to her. I'm just going along for the ride. I like the idea of closet that is color organized!

    Hugs, Illimae!

Chi--Thank you, the birthday was a very good one! So sorry to hear about the housekeepers BIL. Sounds like snow will make the funeral traveling chancy. Be careful out there! Sorry to hear the ENT appointment had to be moved, and all the hassle going on with that, too.

Goldie--I've seen some of those sculptures on line, made of paper and can do bizarre things with them! Glad the movie is good. That is a gorgeous location, and the rainbow is a wonderful message from above!

    And a perfect cocktail!

Hi friends- happy rainy Saturday from NM. I was out this morning for an errand and was planning to go back out for a yoga class, but I can just as easily do some yoga here at home today. I want to get a crock pot of green chili stew going and am finishing up some de-cluttering activities too this weekend too, so perhaps I just made the decision I am in for the day.

Ill- thank you for checking in here and letting us know how you are doing. Continuing to send much healing love to you with all you are going through.

Goldie- that is great you are going to sell one of the trucks. And I so love the photos in HI where they took your moms ashes, along with the flowers and then the rainbow. What a beautiful resting place for her to be and the rainbow seems like a very spiritual sign to me that she was with everyone there during that. May your mama rest in peace and soar with the angels.

NM- glad Miss Sadie is out and about with you today. I hope the visit with family is excellent today.

Chi- sorry to hear about the losses with the housekeeper's family and hope the services go well. Getting those specialist apts rescheduled is a real nightmare here too.

Cami- you cracked me up with the "all of you stop cleaning" but we are not listening. La la la la la, I can't hear you! Midwinter cleaning it is, then soon it will be time for work in the gardens. Are you recovered from your little fall last weekend?

I talked to my sister yesterday as she was coming through her flu stupor from the week. She thought it was a cold to start, but with a fever that moved in, she knew it was something worse. She really hit the wall and was laying low all week, but going to see my SIL today with a mask on.

I did have the opportunity to bring up the Facetime idea for my SIL and her east coast aunt, and she said she had thought about it but did not want to deal with it right now. I said understood, but if she decided they wanted to try it in the future, I could help to coordinate/engage with people on the other end to help make something happen. So the offer is out there and hopefully they had a good visit today.

Time to get to my pueblo green chili stew. Hoping everyone has having a nice weekend as best as you can.

NM, one of those little roto tillers would never make it in my garden. Well, it might now, after all these years. And I had to chuckle at a large garden being 10 x 10. The computerized dog was pretty realistic. There were several dogs and other animals that were computer generated. Of course after seeing them in the movie, you could tell, but still really well done. Enjoy your family time today. I'm quite certain Sadie will.

Jazzy, my brother is in Cancun, not HI, but still just as beautiful. Cracking up over you telling Cami you aren't listening, la la la lala, can't hear you. Glad your sister is feeling better but will still wear a mask. That chili and margarita look super yummy.

LOL, but Misty is listening to you Cami. Too funny!

A slow drizzle all day yesterday, this morning it's snowing.

    Mornin ladies,

Ah Misty finally someone listens to me. The book will be much more relaxing and more fun then cleaning, so enjoy.

Illi I hope things are looking up for u today.

Mary and I sure hope ur doing OK too.

See Lori someone listens to me, oh not u, Jazzy or Kim. But I have Misty on my side an we'll take over soon.

Well my kids are looking for a house in this area <they're cheaper here> but lots of land an really nice homes, but the thought of moving makes me sick and it'll take a while to have the money they need, but they are looking. I'm just praying it works out. They deserve to have some good stuff going on here for a change. And believe it or not a mortgage would be at least 500.00 to 700.00 cheaper for the month than our rent. Ah we'll see.

Joey and I had our semi-date last nite so we did some talking and watched a little TV, but mostly talked and cuddled a little <not long enough for me> but it was nice. The kids came home around 10:30pm so early for a party, they really can't take it anymore. LOL A few frie nds are turning 50 this year so there will be more, I'm sure. It's kin of funny tho now they have them at their homes an no surprises just parties.

My niece's DIL is have a shower in a couple of weeks and the mother is planning it. Remember they are all Italian, whoa about 120 people are invited in a huge restaurant an first u bring a book that u write in so that will be a memory and a box of pampers <any size> so already that's money. Then the baby's gift. This is so Italian and again not many speak English. My niece isn't super happy about all of this but she's staying out of it and she can't say anything to her son cuzz he's still the type to tell his wife everything, and she knows that. And of course there's more but she better shut up. LOL

A little warm out today but cold is coming in with some snow, rain first just hoping it's not all icey.

It's already Sunday it just rushes by. , I can't believe one more week of Feb. and I think Lent starts this Wed. too. So here comes a few weeks of guilt coming on.

Good evening friends- end of the rainy weekend. We had a second day of rain and today some sleet and hail mixed in too. Cold front came through today and it will be cooler and back to winter this week.

Been in doing more cleaning (sorry Cami, still ignoring you) and also made a delicious baked chicken with potatoes and carrots today. I have lots of yummy food for the week ahead.

My sister is coming through her flu and had been able to visit my SIL this weekend and also take the MIL to visit too. We talked about her friend who visited last weekend and can tell she is worn out by the friends wanting to visit but also expecting to stay with her too. I suggested she welcome out of area people to continue visiting, but she needed to tell them she was unable to host anyone at her home right now with all that is going on.

Cami- so Marty and Les are looking to buy a home? Might be nice for them, you too. You know what this means though, right? If you end up moving, there is going to be cleaning involved.

Misty- what book are your reading?

Goldie- whoops on the location, I saw the pics on your FB page while lurking and realized I spoke to the wrong location. I think it looks so lovely there and hope it brought peace to all involved, near and far. I am going to try that blood mary recipe as I have all the stuff for that (including the green chili powder).

Wishing everyone a good week. Next Sunday is March already, two weeks to day light savings time, less than a month to spring everyone!

    A couple of tifbits.

Lori so that wasnt a real live dog in that movie, Jeez the trailers I saw looked pretty good to me, in fact that's one of the reasons I wanted to see the movie. I always love pets that never leave my side. Right now I'm watching Rocketman, of course I like Elton John and I never knew how he learned how to play piano.

OK here's another, I was watching <now a couple of times> the one commercial for body wash and they show the tops of different people, signifying the different skin it can be use on. Well the last picture is one of an older lady with gray hair an nothing on top. She had a full mast.and u see her area with no nipples, just some scars, That;'s it. Now that was the first time I ever saw anything like that. OK that's it for me for now, I know silly stuff but what do u expect.

OMG I was here about 3 hrs. ago and forgot to send this.

Cami- I saw that commercial too and thought that was a brave (and positive) move on their point. If you have never seen the stand up skit by Tig Notaro, she had a double mastectomy and did part of her routine without her shirt completely off. She talked about her BMX and just thought it was the bravest thing I ever saw. YouTube it.

Good Morning, Loungettes!Happy Monday Monkey day! Yesterday's shift as charge nurse was pretty calm. The hardest part is trying to answer the questions of the family members who come in to visit. Usually they've been talking with the nurses about a particular topic all week, and I have no clue what's already been said, or what the social worker's plans are, or the physical therapist's plans, or the dietician's, so I end up saying "I don't know" a lot. Oh well, it's hard for families, too, to have someone getting rehab. Sadie was not impressed, and made sure to work on getting me out of bed even before the alarm this ayem. So not fair that she gets me up then gets to go back to bed!

Jazzy--sometimes a day in is just the thing. The visit with the family was a good one. Brother announced that he's taken a new position in his company, so he and SIL will be moving to North Carolina. I've been sort of expecting something like this, he works in computer tech and there is no opportunity for advancement here in Maine for most technological, and particularly computer tech industries. His new job starts at the end of March, SIL is staying in Maine until their place sells. And change marches on!I'm glad your sister is feeling better. Glad the facetime idea is out there for your SIL and her aunt.

Minus--what are you reading? Reading is my favorite way of escaping/avoiding work and the world.

Jazzy-- How did I miss Margarita Day? That looks like amazing chili!

Goldie--I know our gardening doesn't hold a candle to yours! My little electric rototiller is perfect for me, I only do small areas at a time, and it even fits in the raised bed when that needs a good turnover. Breaking ground with it takes some time, but since I generally only need a square foot or three it's workable. I can never get the gas ones to start, no matter how hard I pull on that stupid string. And those are too heavy for me nowadays. It's amazing what can be created by computers these days.

Wow, that DOTD would set my mouth on FIRE!!!

Cammy Cat--to hear that a mortgage would be that much less expensive than renting just blows my mind. How hard it is for people to save up money for buying a home while paying such huge rentals. That takes real commitment. At least when you paying a mortgage you know you will have something to show for the money when it's all over. Baby showers sure have gotten pricey. Makes me glad that my circle of friends is beyond the child bearing years. Cute kitty!

Jazzy--so funny, watching that cat "knock over" that biker!Good advice for your sister, it's going to be way too much for her to be hosting visitors while dealing with everything and recovering from the flu.

Cammy--I haven't seen that commercial yet but will be looking for it. It's about time advertisers started using people that are more real than the idealized type that's so commonly seen, but only on TV. And with a mastectomy scar, too, very brave on all accounts!

Good morning girls, sorry to be MIA so long but I did start the other day, typing for 10 minutes or so and my pinky hit something and the gremlin got me, I was so made I slammed the lid shut on my computer, cussed and quit! Finally going to get to bowl with my team today, seems every Monday I've had scans or Dr appts or something. Next Monday morning I'm going to SSI to apply for disability, tried to do it online but it wouldn't let me cause I just applied for SSI. Looking forward to seeing my bowling ladies they're a fun bunch. Today I go for dexascan and Wed is PET, I'll be glad to get started on my new meds, knowing I've got multiple bone mets and doing nothing about it is starting to aggrevate me. All in all I'm doing fine, nothing like when I was dx 6 years ago, I go periods of time when I don't think about it at all. DH got home from Scottsdale yesterday, he was there golfing with his son. I have read everybody's posts and am all caught up but will have to come back later to talk to all of you.

Kim, happy belated birthday! Hope it was a special as you are!

    Ill.. in my prayers!

Gonna hit submit , see you all later today.Heart

Cami, it's so nice that you and Joey can cuddle and talk. And wow, that's a lot of people for just a shower. Awesome news about looking for a house, they have to be excited about that. How long have you lived there? Yes, all of the animals in the movie are computer generated.

Jazzy, it was pretty icky here yesterday. LOL, telling Cami she will have to clean if they move!

NM, how far away will your brother be? Your little roto tiller would be all I could handle, no way could I do ours, no way. I'll bet you hated telling all the family members "I don't know".

Mary, glad you are doing well. Your DH wasn't gone long, I hope it did him some good. I always feel worse for my loved ones having to deal with this, more than how I feel myself. I just hate what a horrible thing I"m putting them through. I went in to SSI when I applied, was so much easier. You might want to call ahead and ask what all you need to bring, to avoid any delays. They also pay retro active. Enjoy your bowling.

Nothing to report here on my end!

    Mornin' ladies,

U know I have never planted a garden by myself and I wouldn't even know how to start it, when u gals can do all of that.

Kim I'm sure u didn't like the idea of saying I don't know, that's not you at all. Just because u weren't caught up with what the families were thinking, u were not comfortable. I know u like to be prepared I'm sorry that happened to you. Now ur brother is going to move??? Oh that's got to be crummy for u and ur mom. I hope it all goes smoothly tho.

Mary I'm glad ur going bowling u'll have a good time an u need that. And going to SSI is a much better way to handle things than on the phone, that would drive u crazy much better one on one.

Illi how are things going, I pray better.

I've been worried about Joey, this is the time Leslie got super sick and I don't know if boys are different at this age of if something is happening, there's a sadness about him that he never had. I see it in his eyes. He is seeing someone now. When Les got sick it was slow then bang it happened and at that time 5 different Drs. were called in and they all said they never saw anyone that bad, after 1 yr. They wanted to put her into an institution , but I was way to stubborn and wouldn't sign her in and she was underage so they had no choice but to treat her and I was there everyday teaching her how to talk and swallow and sit without straps and it's just all come back to me and I pray that this is just a boys thing at this age. It's funny I never look for worry, but with Joey I do and I hate that. When Les was turning 18 they told me she could walk out anytime she wanted and I needed a power of attorney and that usually takes a while. Well OK I knew someone. I called my brother and the next morning I was in some judges chamber with my nephew <attorney> before court started and got it. So I went right to the hospital and gave them my POA, I remember they weren't happy about it, they didn't know what to do so they called in another Dr. from another hospitaland shock treatment started soon after that. She had a series of 9 and she actually started getting better. So that's why I'm so worried Joey has this gene. There's a lot more meds and treatments than 25 yrs. ago and I know that but still u all know how I feel about him All we can do is wait, I guess. So I pray.

I had to get this out cuz I haven't told anyone yet. I come to u gals, u always make me feel better.

OK I didn't set up yet so I'd better do that now, I'll check in later and see how's everone doing.

    LUBS U ALL

Hi friends- happy Monday! Dry and sunny and cold here again. Cleaning company was here today and nice to start the week with a clean space. Working on worky things today and starting my tax prep for my accountant.

Genny- I am glad to hear you are doing okay. Once I get past the shock of anything, I become stoic and just focus on getting through. I hope DH had some time away to wrap his head around what's next. Glad you are getting the SS app going. Sending you much love

Cami- sorry to hear about your worries about Joey. I sent you a PM.....

NM- good news for your brother to have a better opportunity for work, but sad that he will be far away with things going on with your mom. It works better when you can work as a team with at least one other sibling. I have friends who work things out where the parent spends time with children who live in different places. Maybe mom is in Maine for the summer and with your brother in the winter? She could be a snow bird. But I know you are not in the place for those decisions yet. Just some thoughts for the future as things change and more conversations come.

Goldie- I bet you have some mud over there today. And after you washed and prettied up those trucks too. Feels like winter is back here this week. I like having a rainy weekend from time to time and it is rare.

Ill- thinking of you and hoping you are feeling a bit stronger every day friend Heart
