Prior to starting my chemo I asked my Onc about drinking during. He said if you want a beer or glass of wine or cocktail, go right ahead. Whatever makes you feel comfortable.

Hi,
First time posting to this thread but had such a fun weekend with my family and...rum!
A friend sent me flowers after my surgery and it was the neatest thing. A 10 cup margarita glass filled with some odd green liquid and on top was a beautiful bouquet of white flowers with straws sticking out and fake lime slices. Well the flowers died and my husband went to the liquor store. Two of our sons were home this weekend along with the one's girlfriend so we decided to play scrabble and my husband made a 10 cup pina colada with 5 straws! We took pics and had a great time! Wasn't to happy in the morning but it was worth it!

Bridget, that sounds like the gift that keeps on giving!! Glad you enjoyed your evening. Sometimes the morning after is worth it for the fun of the night before. And when you're recovering and start to feel like your old self, why not??

bridget that sounds awesome..........next time play scrabble for "profanity" only..........it's a real eye opener, and a riot!

Oh trust me shel, I have put words down that I won't even say out loud! I made my sons blush and hubby laughed like hell!
There is another game we have called Apples to Apples and that one gets really hilarious as the night goes on.

My onc also said to drink wine or beer whenever I felt up to it. I tolerated chemo freakishly well, and felt up to it just about anytime other than the day of and the day after chemo. So bottoms up!

So set them up Joe, I got a lot of things I want you to know...
I know I never told this story before here. So what the heck.
My mother was a bit of a Gracie Allen. She had to go to work everyday at 4PM so getting her out of the house after school was always a chore and very chaotic. Button this, find the other shoe..
Well she gets on the bus, all is well. She has to change buses and forgot to ask for a transfer, so she gets on the new bus and rummages in her purse for money, and nothing is there, empty. She just paid the other bus so where did it all go???
She yells out OMG, I've been robbed! Another passenger watching all this, tugs on my mother's jacket and points to her other arm...
She had two purses, one on each arm. She was probably wearing two different shoes also.
Just thought I'd share. Are we going to name our pub something special?0 -

Oh, that was a good story! But I bet growing up you couldn't appreciate it? When I was younger it was important to me to seem "intelligent" but now if I act flaky I figure that's my right!0 -
If we are looking for names to start a pub. I vote for an Irish theme. How about
"Erin Go Braless"

How 'bout naming the pub NED? NeedEverdayDrink

Hi girls,
I don't post much here but I sure enjoy the conversations. My reconstruction is tomorrow and I have really missed having wine for the last couple of weeks! Since DIEP involves tiny blood vessels they told me not to have alcohol or caffeine for 4-6 weeks afterwards either. WTH??? I understand it but geez it is gonna be hard. Am I whining too much or did anybody else make it that long?0 -
My first post in this thread. Dberg, 6 weeks is a long time but you can do it. Had to do it when I had free tram - and no chocolate either because of the caffeine. Good luck with the reconstruction.

Janis,
She kept losing my umbrellas and I had to walk to school.
It really didn't bother me at the time because peace would reigneth by 4 everyday. Just in time for the Mickey Mouse club.0 -
How 'bout "Club 4W", Witty women whining and wining?

That's okay, we'll be drinking for you and when you've recovered you can (try to) catch up!0 -
Notice how I almost exclusively post here?? Don't think she'll ever be able catch up, but she can have fun trying.

Enjoy your keylime cheesecake. That actually made my mouth water as typed it.
