As a former pediatric nurse I can tell you with assurance that little boys do, indeed, get UTIs!  IT's rarer than in girls, and more than one is a signal to do a more thorough work up for structural problems and sexual abuse, but "holding it" is the most common cause for all that!  Parents think I'm nuts when I ask them if the boy has just been at camp or a day program, but if they have, quess what the problem almost always turned out to be?  Holding it.  OR not drinking enough.  Or both.  ESPECIALLY both.

    Hello girls,

I am here and it is happy hour AND thirst-dey night. Kathy, come and drink with me! Thanks for keeping track of the JD distillery for me, I appreicate it.

Well I got to come home with both girls but the doc asked me to watch for drainage. I told him I had none although I went away and failed to bring surgical tape. My tape came off and I messed up and washed myself using the bar of soao and got soap inside the area. I did not notice until later when I was dressing. I went back in and washed it and put a bandage on. When I took off the bandage, there was a bit of drainage on there but I did not mention that to my ps. It is now taped up and will stay that way until it falls off.  I am hoping for the best but not yet out of the woods (my docs words).

NM, what fantastic advise you gave Karen. I loved your pics today too. You always do such an awesome job.  The perfectionist in you sure shows here and I know you strive to be perfect at everything you do including your profession.  I bet the school is very upset that you are moving on.

Goldie, I hope your drive to PHX was painless and that your tests went well.

Beans, I miss the Beanglish too but am glad that things are going better for you. Your dream home sounds lovely, I hope you invite me there when it is done. I had to flash back to my younger days and living on a third floor apartment when I was first married many moons ago. I hope to someday have a second home but my focus now is taking care of the one I have and getting the mortgage paid off.

Claire, I agree on your sentiments on Liz T. I don't know why I was shocked over hearing of her death as I knew she had been battling a lot health issues but she really was a classy lady and did such great work in the fight to cure HIV/Aids. I always admired her and think she was so beautiful even in the pic of her that NM posted. On another note, I think you should be our lounge trainer and NM our lounge nurse. If anyone needs mortgage advise, I can help too! We all have our thing and it is so nice that everyone shares.

Kymn, so nice to see you, I was concerned when I had not seen you post. Keep up the great work and great attitude. And always, I mean always have a bigarse bottle of fukitols for those down moments. Love you too young lady.

Stanzie, any word on getting your home in any good movies? I was just cruising through my recorded stuff on dvr looking for the end of AI which I have taped the season and came across that Valentine movie w/ Betty White. I watched it but want to watch again so have not erased it.

To the rest of you, come and drink with me. CrazyKittie, come on in, there are many vats of wine with your name on them. Sorry about the hip. I can relate although my issues are not due to bc.

    Cheerz ladies!!

YAY Dorothy is IN the bar!!!!  Yeah, I wanted to watch that Valentine movie again, but the darn cable guy had to switch out our box.....so all my movies and tv shows went bye, bye. OK, we gotta pray big time for you to heal up completely!!!! No more drainage, do y'hear that? So far, so good, but we gotta keep it that way. Hoping that itty bit of drainage won't matter. Oh.....Pants just poured you a BIG dwink, with JD and coke......dwink up Dorothy!!!! Where is everyone else???

Kymn, good to see you and glad you stopped by. Sure sounds like you are busy girl.

Hey Beans, NM, Kathy! Oh and a big welcome to CrazyK, you will fit right in with the rest of us crazeeze!

Well, I have been informed once again to pack an over night bag! But I know what we are doing this time. After my tests, we are heading to Flagstaff, dinner at Olive Garden and the Home and Garden Show on Saturday. So I will have my few drinks and see you all when I get back.

Cheers, Bottumz UP and look at all the pretty diamonds!

Hi Lori!!! So nice to be dwinking with you again! Sounds like a fun trip planned. Is Flagstaff that town before the Grand Canyon? I think that is where we stayed, and Route 66 goes right through it. We had such a nice time there, as I know you will too. Fun to have that to look forward to, to take the sting off of having tests. Have a GR8 time!!!!

NM- Thanks so much - gosh never even thought about drinking water or any liqids - no I'm positive he would have hardly been drinking..... Wow, thanks again. Great things to talk to the counselors about.

Goldie - have fun! I loved going to garden and flower shows with my Mom. My kids would rather do anything than such things....

Just sad and depressed today. - Had another row with daughter over not doing homework and clothes for a Bat Mitzvah she is invited to this weekend and teenage attitude. My brother in law started his chemo and radiation today.

I guess they found another house for the commercial never heard back from them at all. Oh well, must not have meant to be.... Ok, going to dig up a book and go read.....

Cat, a big welcome to you. I will whistle and one of our hot bartenders will bring you a drin, <whistle> Pants, get the lovely lady one on me!

Lori, have fun at the flower show. I am envious, take some pics and post them somewhere for me to see. I watch the opening night of the show in Philly every year on TV and this year was spectacular. I wonder if the same people organize these shows. The one in Philly will have a Hawaiian theme next year. Can I fit in your suitcase?

Oh, the diamonds are so beautiful, I will try not to take that lovely necklace then allege that Pants gave it to me haha.

Stanzie, awww, sorry you are feeling down.  Meet me at the fukitol dispenser, I could use one. And there IS hope for your DD. I told you before that i had the same heated arguments over home work with my DD at her age and she has blossomed into an awesome student, that happened her junior year and she is doing great in college now.

Kathy, where have you not been??

    To all, let's drink!!

Karen - I find that if I deprive myself or feel guilty about my weight, I tend to overeat. I just read "French Women Don't Get Fat"... found some rules I could apply: 1) drink champagne, 2) eat chocolate, 3) eat yogurt every day (not the sugary kind), 4) drink more water - start the day with a glass of water and have another before you go to bed, 5) the "50% rule" ... Instead of giving up foods that are fattening, eat only half and serving, then try to cut that in half again, 6) I think she said to move your butt, but French women don't typically go to the gym... she says to find something you like doing (like taking a walk, cycling, or skiing) as life is about the journey and not the results... lots more. I'm trying to apply some of these suggestions cuz I don't want to give up champagne, chocolate, cheese, or bread (that rules out low-fat and low-carb I think). I did a low-fat diet for a week and added Wii workouts to my indoor winter lifestyle (about 5 hours/week) and lost 5 pounds the first week... then only 2 the second week. I'm going to stop weighing myself now and just keep getting exercise and not over-eating (half of an ‘offender' really does taste as good as the whole thing).

Lost my Internet connection last night and had a major battle with DD1 so didn't have time to fix the problem... have to catch up later!

Hi again girlz! Am Idol just finished...I won't comment in case someone that watches it has not seen it yet. Several surprizes tonight though. Dorothy, one place I haven't been is Ireland, and have wanted to go there...will put it on my bucket list! Oh, and I haven't been to New Jersey! Although DH used to go there often b4 his cousin died...cousin's wife and son still live there, and her son has a PT business. Kymn, Sorry, after all those months of complaining about walking on subflooring, we are SO happy to have the floor finished. The one we found matches very well, and the installer did a great job of cutting some planks out, and threading the new ones in. And now the hall is done too....used to be carpet there. It just took him a couple of days. Can't get the heat/ac guy here though...waited a month for him to come back, then he cancelled last week, and he set the appt up for today. He never showed up and never answered our calls. $hit, I wish I knew how to do that stuff...LOL. I just hate being at the whim of repair people!!! Lori, since you go to Flagstaff so often you prolly know the town inside and out, as it didn't seem very big. Bet the flower show will be awesome!!! Have fun, and hope the tests turn out purrfect (love your cat stuff, btw!). OK, now to find Survivor on internet so I can watch what the tornado-chasing weathermen interrupted last night.

    Chairs! ChEARS! CaChing!

Off to bed for me, wish Hunk was here to rock me to sleep again - I guess I will have to portend.  Good night ladies!

    Hi Ladies,

Had to spend time at the REAL wine bar tonight.  Was great fun, and the singer is better than ever.  Sad news is that her husband is headed for a professorship in WI, so will all be over in a matter or months.  Oh well.  Plus ca change.....

Had some fab cab franc and then some wonderful wine from a new vintage.  Singer sang a song about needing Merlot in the summer.  Get that theme big time.

Need to throw together some food and head for bed.

Have wonderful champagne for luncheon with the Rector of my church on Monday.  Think she will need by then as more sad news on that front.  (Too many funerals.)

I am so sad about the husband of one of my close friends.  The love of her life and only 5 or so years together.  So glad I saw both of them back in May when they were doing a cruise to Alaska.

Have a wonderful buzz from all the wine.  TITZ up ladies. - Claire

(((((((((((Stanzie))))))))))))))......HOpe tomorrow will be a better day for you.....I'm lucky with DD in regards to Bar/Bat Mitzvah's because to shul (synagogue) she dresses fairly modestly (but stylish)...to school she will wear skinny jean's!!! kind of two different worlds for her.  I can't stand the teen attitude....I tend to be a "B" and give it back!!! Talk rude to me and I'll talk rude to you!!! Probably not the most mature attitude for a mom, especially a mom who knows better....

NM...thank you so much for your expertese.....without trying to give TMI....DD practices many of your suggestions...she doesn't wear hose, tries not to "hold it in" (heck poor mom did today and just about peed her pants!!!), doesn't wear tight clothes, doesn't use those types of birth control etc....When she was in the hospital with the kidney infection, the doctor mentioned the honeymoon cystitis, but she was married 10 months when it happened and now its 19 months...doc put her on another antiotic....wondered if my SIL should also take one...I may mention it to my DD....trouble is, she does not have any pain/symptons until it is advanced...that is why she ended up with the the kidney infection (and almost sepsis).....she is really pretty good about trying to listen to her body....

Started to work on the taxes today.....spent a couple hours and felt like I didn't make a dent.....going through the check book we paid out more than 8000 in medical....still need to check the credit card and add up the insurance premiums...then deduct the FSA we contributed.....can't believe we are still having so many medical expenses....at least it wasn't all for me!!!!

Took DD # 2 to get eye exam today.....she wants to get contacts...we spent 2 hours there....she managed to get one contact in....her eyes were getting sore, so she decided to stop....we will go back again on monday....she is determined....she is also getting new glasses since her Rx changed...her frames were more than mine.....My Rx didn't change, but I decided to get new glasses anyways (wasn't going to but changed my mine and figured why not do it....its only $)....talk about expensive....I get progessive bi-focals and transition lenses for they are pricey....the guy where we get our glasses gives us a discount, but I really don't know the true price of it all....maybe one day I'll check out one of the mall places for prices just to know how good a deal, but he does take care of us....I told DD#1 that when she is here for Passover, if she wants to get her eyes examined and new glasses we would pay for them....

    Junie....how are you doing?

    Wahine....how are you recovering...what type of surgery...not sure I ever knew...or if I did don't remember...

who is it with the sick implant?  hope all goes well at the PS tomorrow

    HD...are you still here?

    Chrissy.....HI

Claire....jsut haven't had a taste for wine....sure I'll get it again....and yes I do need to increase my walking....and no I don't do weights.....but I have been better about walking at night with hubby...now just got to get back to walking in the morning and on non work days....

Goldie, Cat (welcome) and all the other "drinkers'...CHEERS!!!!  Sweet dreams...Karen

Kymn-glad you checked in, I was worried about you! Glad you are back to work, that makes you feel more normal and like a real person. Also understand feeling tired and running out of time and energy. For me it's usually the opposite, and I don't have chemo for an excuse! Take it a little easy, though, while your body is repairing the damage done to the healthy tissue by the chemo. You don't have to be Wonder Woman!

CrazyKitties-Welcome to the Lounge! Have you visited the casino yet? The machine right inside the door, the one that looks like an ATM, dispenses money whenever it senses one of us walking by it. All $50s and $100s, no puny $20s or $10s. The odds are better than in Vegas, and lots of fun to be had there! There are orthopedic stools to sit on for those of us with AI related joint problems, too!

Beanie! Hope you get through the ucky paperwork quickly. I got through the whole tax thing yesterday, glad to be done, disappointed at the Fed refund, had to pay the State $9. Lesson learned: DO NOT cash out a 403(b) retirement account, the penalty is 10% and came out of my refund. On the other hand, that money got me through the winter, so I guess I should be grateful I had it. Before anyone says anything, this was the smallest of my 4 retirement accounts, only $8K, and I will not touch the 2 big accounts.

Fearless-Welcome to the Lounge to you, too! Have you checked out the pool with all the fun floaties and the HUGE flat screen TV? And the swim up bar? What kind of likker is your fave? Let the Tenders know and they will stock up!

DorK-I'm sure your girls will be fine. A little soap isn't a bad thing, it helps chase away bad bacteria. Glad you're all taped up now, though! Thanks for the kind words, I hope the school will be sorry to see me leave, that would be a personal satisfaction. It's going to be a bit of a tough week coming up as I will have to start telling people that I'm leaving so appropriate plans can be made for next semester. Oh, I got a call yesterday, I go in for the Peer Interview next Friday morning. That's the last step before a final decision is made, so things are looking very good! And I'll take the mortgage advice-I'd like to get mine paid off as early as possible. I'm trying to get myself out of all debt, but got a ways to go. One step at a time, right?

Wahine-join me in the chapel in a prayer for Dork? You can bring your drink, and I'm bringing mine!

I'm jealous of you Goldie! I LOVE the Olive Garden! Have fun at the Home and Garden show. I'm getting anxious to get to work in my garden, but that won't be for a while yet.

Cat-all the drinks here in the lounge are beneficial and health promoting, mental health that is! We can't live our lives around this diagnosis and treatment, those have to fit into our lives. Congrats on being almost done!

    Goldie-great kitty corner!

Stanzie-I've been camp nurse a couple of times and learned pretty quickly to remind the kids AND the counselors to drink and take pee breaks! It's amazing how much people can ignore when having fun or afraid of missing something fun! Sorry the DD is being less than darling, and praying your BIL does well with his treatment. A good book fixes many problems, doesn't it? I think we need to add a reading nook to the Lounge--

Wow, lots going on with the Loungettes this morning.  Gonna make picking a DOTD a challenge!

    Cat and Fiddle

    1 tsp Dubonnet Blanc
    1/2 oz Cointreau
    1 tsp Pernod
    1 1/2 oz Canadian Whiskey

    Directions
Pour Canadian whisky, Cointreau, Pernod and Dubonnet Blanc into a mixing glass half-filled with ice cubes. Stir well, strain into a cocktail glass, and serve.

.....dragging my butt in here.....looking at all the kewl pics NM posted through bleary eyes. I cried so much last night and was so upset that I didn't fall asleep till after 5 am. Don't want to go into details, but it involves my parents and this hit me much harder than my cancer dx did. Chrissy was such a big help to me last night....thank you so much! Any prayers for my parents will be very appreciated. If I don't post for a bit, don't worry, I just might not feel up to it for awhile. Still tearing up thinking about it. I think so highly of all of you, and hoping for a good weekend for you girlz. Stanzie, also hoping your BIL will have good results from his tx. And try with all your patience to endure the teen years....my mom and I barely got along from when I turned 13, till I left home at 18. Since then, we have been extremely close. So, hang in there. Cheers to you all!
