Not a champaigne drinker here....not anything bubbly or sweet......used to like semi-sweet or is it semi-dry white wines pre-chemo, but now its just dry red wines....but other than our virtual DOTD, I haven't had any wine in over a month....DH asked me tonight if I missed it and I said not really....when/if the mood arises, will inbibe all I want...

lots of wild fires in the foothills of denver...strong winds are making it hard to contain....and the air tonight in Denver smells like fire, so keeping the windows shut....it has been soo very dry....no snow to speak of this month in Denver...and March is generally the snowiest month.....

Cabin plans sound great....Beans where do you live?  When we were first married, back in pre-kids days and in Ohio we had the greatest little house.....700 sq ft on main floor and 300sq ft loft....24 x 30 were the outside dimensions....on 4 wooded acres....don't know if I miss it or not, but it was a great 6 years.....

The HTL seems quiet today...hope everyone is doing good (is that proper grammar?).

Happy Hump day....my last work day for the week.....and then next week is spring break!!!!

    Sweet dreams....Hugs, Karen

Echoing Karen's sentiments...HAPPY HUMP DAY Loungettes!!! Karen, I had heard about the wildfires, how many acres are affected now? I hope no one, esp firefighters, is injured because of the smoke/fires. I have a cousin that lives in the woods in Greeley, and another cousin near Denver. Such a lovely area you live in! Love the mountain area where the casinos are too; we got snowed in there once....well almost, we had to get up at 2 am and leave that area as heavy snows were arriving. Couple of days later, had to follow the snowplow all the way to the airport.

Dorothy, are you home now? Looks like more snow for NJ too? HOW DID YOU DO at TPIR???

Looks like thre were storms/tornadoes across several states; hope all you girlz are ok! I always thought we were in "tornado alley", but saw a map of that, and AL is not in it. Strange, as we get LOTS of damaging tornadoes.

Hope all you girlz have a good day today. Love, love, love your tinfoil story junie! And NM, was that you that said you will now be on the lookout for foil in waiting rooms? Such a riot! I love how things we say or do here, can give us a laff in our daily lives. We are a bunch'a fun! Going to check out the casino here...heading for the free cash machine on the way in. Wenches are serving dwinks today....Skates, puleez bring me an Irish Coffee! Many thanks. Oops...almost tripped over Junie as she was bending over to grab another dog beer from her HUGE bucket. Oh, I see HD trying to get a reception out of that machine over there! IS that why the tinfoil hat is gone?

    Chug A Lug,

    Kathy

wahine--like my Oops Corner, do you?  I thought we needed someplace to go to acknowledge when we goofed, but nice to remind us that we're ok anyway!  Since we all oops from time to time, why punish ourselves?  Say sawwy and move on, is my motto.  I love bacon, but a maple bacon sundae?  I'm not sure about that one at all!  But bacon meatloaf?  Yummy!

HD--once apon a long time ago I remember seeing a foam thingy that you could put between two beds to make a bigger bed.  I think it was in a mail order catalogue.  I'll see if I can find it again, but it was a long time ago. . . .

AStorm--I'm with you, wine is important.  That's one reason I started making wines.  I never thought about buying wine in bulk, I may have to look into that--for the bottles, you understand.  If I'm paying for bottles there might as well be something in them, the price isn't THAT much different, after all! And I will be GLAD to help you drink the champagne!

Was looking at my To Do list for this break week, and I've gotten very little done on it.  I have make a BIG dent in cleaning out the sewing room, took 5 bags of trash out to the end of the driveway this am, got 2 big boxes full of flattened boxes for the recycling truck next month.  Can actually move around in the room now!  At this point I need a plan for organizing and cleaning, including taking up the carpet and putting down stick on tiles for easier clean up of needles, pins, threads, etc.  I'm thinking it's time to drop that project for a while and concentrate on the other items on the list, some of which need to be finished before next Monday.   And a church group  is meeting here at the house this evening, so I've got to get the mess I made cleaning out the sewing room cleaned up.  Fortunately, that doesn't seem to take as long as I expect it will, and having the gang over is great motivation.  Got to think of a snack to make for tonight, too.  I guess I better get moving, huh?

Claire--carring 12 pounds of groceries up hill certainly counts as weight bearing exercise!  If just walking is a weight bearing exercise, than adding weight has to count even more.

I know not everyone is a fan of champagne, so 2 DOTDs today:

    Gold Velvet

    1 splash Champagne
    1/2 glass Lager
    1 oz Pineapple Juice

    Directions
Half-fill a beer pilsner with lager. Add pineapple juice, and gently top with champagne.

and for the non-champagne lovers in the lounge:

    Flaming Yager

    1 shot Jagermeister
    1 glass Guinness Stout

    Directions
Light the jagermeister on fire and drop it in the glass of guinness. Now pound it quick.

Kathy, welcome home. How fun that you saw Hunk, but we can't just go around changing peoples names, ya know! Too bad you didn't say anything to that lady that slugged you. Doubtful that it would ever happen again, but I'd bet she'd think twice about slugging someone again. And then bumping into someone on the other side.....glad it didn't cause you problems. Sounds as though you are glad you went. Neat family history! And how sweet of your classmates to call you. LMAO at the Baconalia....yes it is my lovely husband that is a bacon addict.

Beans, we don't get that much pollen, thank goodness. Love your cabin plans, the design looks almost identical to a neighbors. The only difference I see is the laundry room, that is on the other side of the house. So cute and quaint, you will have fun with it! Good luck with all that tax stuff.

HD, you are sounding like Ellie May Dory with ur "Up the Crick". You been hanging out at the cement pond?

LOL Astorm, love the "Here's a $5000 fukitol tax credit just for hanging in there! Maybe I should run for Congress...|" YOU HAVE MY VOTE. Hell, I'd vote for you if you ran for Prez!

Someone take the tin foil away from HD!

OMG NM, I was just showing DH Kathy's post on the bacon.....while bumping into you. I had to wait for him to get out of the shower so I could show him yours. Guess which one he liked best??? Good idea to buy FULL bottles for your wine. Why pay for empty ones!

LMAO Lori....at the tin foil work cubicle (first I thought it was a dressing room....showing my age!). Yeah, I knew deep down we couldn't change "Hunk's" name....but oh he looks so different now. Funny that you showed your DH the bacon stuff......as for me, I like it crispy, but don't like to add it to stuff. Funny you mentioned "Ellie May Dory"....I just revisited that pic of her the other day!

NM, Good for you, for cleaning out so much from your sewing room! Also good idea to rip out the carpet. I used to put the portable sewing machine on the floor of my room as a teen, and would sew that way with my knee on the foot pedal! The downside was all the pins/needles that would end up in the carpet, and then, of course, in my feet as I would step on them. So thats why I agree with you, on taking up the carpet! I've been taking apart boxes this morning and flattening them too, but need to keep them for my ebay/Amazon sales. Since the nurse said I could start doing things gradually as long as it didn't hurt.....well, of course that is like a green light to me to do almost anything! Nah....cause it really does still hurt, but at least I can do a bit more.

    Humpity Humpity Hump Day!

Hang in there Kath, once you start doing stuff you progress quickly.  Just be careful not to OVERDO!  I did that a few times and paid for it dearly in pain and fatigue the next day.  I found I could get more done without overdoing by using a timer--work for 15 minutes, rest for 30 minutes, or set your own time plan.  Just be careful!

Good idea, NM! After my hyster many yrs ago, the dr said I would know what I could do or not do....ummmmmm NOT....I felt like going out-of-town shopping....felt fine till I got back home and had to go to the ER. SO now I always ask how much I am allowed to do! Great idea to do it in small doses, though. Gotta run errands, if I don't switch out my replacement cell phone today, they will charge up to $500...yikes! Ciao!

HD - I'll let you know if and when you can really be jealous of a king size bed cuz it's just a dream at the moment. We usta have one but when we sold a place the buyer's wanted our furniture. We have a queen at the coast, but only a full out here. It was a cheepie when we bot it so now it's really not great, but I don't wanna buy a new one till I have more space. Not fitting a king reminds me of ages ago when we were young and had a place in CA on the coast. It was a 3 story and the top story was just a room with a slider and a deck. You hadda go up a metal spiral stair to get to it. Somehow we pushed and shoved and wound a king bed up to the top - like I said we were younger then. It was a lot a work!!! It had nice views, but no bathroom at the top so in the night you'd hafta wind down those stairs - ug! Some adventures we had!

AStorm - you make me jealous cuz I can just tell you keep up with all your accounting real efficient-like thru the year. I try, but get scattered and then last year I had only partial brain functioning. Then I'm trying to make sure I dint miss anything, so going back thru it all is a chore. I love the tax credit and will definitely send that in!!! Oh boy!!! What a great idea. Count me in too if you need help with your champagne!! I'm there!

Wahine - You had me cracking up at remembering all the bed sizes, that's amazing! We had a Calif King and I don't remember the size but it was really nice and we have kicked ourselves so many times for selling it with the house. Plus we haven't found bedroom furniture again that we liked as well. I remember a lot of odd numbers from my chem days, HD will laff about Avogadros number, pi (3.14 which is also how I remember one of my great nephew's BD, March 14), the universal gas constant, R

    gas

, and of course that there are 5,280 feet per mile. I hope you will take it easy and not overdo it while you're healing. NM has such a good idea to set a timer. Please don't end up in the ER!!

Claire - like the mud roll idea! The freezer will stay in the garage and yes, I'm glad to be on the grid, but I like the idea of solar power. We have some neighbors who put in an elaborate off the grid system that seems to be working really well for them. We've got some back ups to the electric so we won't freeze if power goes out during storms. We have a wood stove and propane. A major wine rack is such a great idea! Will have to investigate that! And glad you will have champagne too. I haven't tried the Washington State one but that sounds great for a luncheon. Yikes that hike with all those groceries sounds hard and def counts as wt bearing exercise. It was pouring most of yesterday, but it let up enough for a walk in the afternoon. We have a lot of hills here, so even a short walk gets my heart rate up. It was beautiful and sunny blue this morning, but now I see more snow flurries, wow, sure don't get bored with the weather!

Karen - Sorry to hear of fires in Denver, I hate it when the air gets filled with smoke. I'm in north central Washington up near Canada and every summer we worry about fires! Your little house in Ohio sounds so nice, sounds about the size of what we're doing. My mom and dad had a cabin in the forest when I was a kid and we had so much fun there.

NM - LMAO (again)! Thanks for all the funny pics, so so so entertaining, where do you find all those??? I think I'll go for the Gold Velvet with the champagne, sounds divine! Good luck with your sewing room, that sounds like quite a project.

Goldie - If you'd like I can pack some pollen up for you when it hits here - ha ha ha! j/k, but maybe I could sell packets of it on eBay??? I agree with you too, ASTORM FOR PREZ!!! Oh how funny, too, that foil cubicle!!!

Kymn, Junie, DorK, Stanzie hope you are all doing well and will be back when you have time and hi to everyone else out there! Happy Hump Day to All! Hope everyone is having a great day!

I am here, Kathy although barely.  We did not get in until late last night. After checking out of the hotel, we went down the Jersey coast, stopped at my sisters in Ocean City for lunch then headed to Wildwood Crest to meet up with another friend.  We had a blast.

TPIR was really fun but this will not be televised.  The host was Joey Fattone, not Drew Carey. I was initially disappointed but it was a great show. Things were different from the real show as three people were called down at a time, one would advance and play a game and the rest would get a TPIR teeshirt then they would call three more names. I was floored when they called someone with the first name Dorothy but the last name was different.  For a split second, DH and I thought they were calling me. No one won the final showcase as both people overbid but they had a car and a Canadian Cruise so it was not a junk prize as I thought it might be.

DH hit not one but two jackpots. He has to pay taxes on the second because it was 1400.00. That was sure a nice trip. I am not big on gambling, I just loose all the time but really don't know what I am doing and make bad choices at the poker table. I get nervous, not sure why but I always seem to mess up.

We drank and we drank and we drank. Today is detox day for this old gal. I am so exhausted.

well I need to catch up and see what you girls are up to. And on my, just heard that Liz Taylor died, very sad.  Catch you all later!!

YAY...Dorothy is baaaaack! I have been very worried about you, and so glad you made it home safely. AND that your DH is a 2x winner! What a nice haul! And I was tickled to hit $250! Nice that you had some good stops on the way home too. The Price Is Right you went to, sounds like what they had at the Las Vegas Hilton when we were there. I think Joey was hosting that too, and they were handing out tix, but we had too much to do. We were hoping to win a car in Tunica too, but dang it, they just don't call our names! Good thing you went to the PIR though, as otherwise you might not have been in AC, and your DH would not have won all that $$$$$.

Can I twist your arm and pour you a JD and Coke? OR are you serious about detoxing??? That is hard to believe...nah, j/k. Just really good to have you back in the fold, this mother hen was getting concerned!!!

     Bottoms Up!

DH said last night "sooo, aren't you going to check in with your breast friends before bed, you said you NEEDED to".....I don't remember saying that but geez, I missed you gals. We had the mini with us but I just did not get online except to check on my doggies who were under the care of my ex and my DD. ohhh, I am sooo tired, please have Hunk wake me if I doze off (I am pretend sleeping now)........

Dorothy....glad your husband won.  Well.....there is such a thing as having too good a time.

Sure you will be just fine in a day or so.

Beans....glad I was helpful with my wine rack suggestion.  But I would sure want one in a place where you couldn't just pop out and buy more once supplies dwindled a bit.  Even here, it was a wonderful day when I got the end table/wine rack for my sitting area.

BUT was thinking of you, Dorothy, as Lynchburg is under a tornado WARNING right now. Gotta pray it doesn't hit the Jack Daniels distillery!!!!! I'm officially on spring break....it does help only having a 3 day work week!!!!  Promised hubby that I would work on my part of the taxes tomorrow....so since he helped organize everything for me, I better do as promised.  I get all the info ready (medical paid, taxes pd, donations etc) so he can do the computer program taxes...

DD has another UTI....3rd one since January....she's having a cystoscopy the end of April.  Last June she ended up in the hospital with a kidney infection....she was at the urologist yesterday and felt fine, till she got home and then the burning started!!!!  They are trying to figure out whats going on....my guess its nothing to find...just she is now prone to them....key will be to find way to prevent.....NM....what does the nurse in you think?  She's been married for 19 months...will be 25 in May.....don't remember her having these problems before......Sure wish she wasn't so far from Denver so I could do more....

Anybody got any suggestions for can't stop eating syndrome....I can't believe how much weight I have put on since the beginning of November....I feel soooo fat....younger DD gets so annoyed with me when I make a comment as she says no one in this family is fat!!!!  I was at a good weight in the fall.....right where I wanted to be and felt good....now I just feel so dumpy.....I'm a good 8 -10# more than I want to be....but just can't get motivated....last summer I took off the 6# too much that I had gained back after loosing weight during Tx.....kept it off for a few months, then started eating too much junk when I got back from Israel and keep packing on the #'s....  I know a lot is emotional eating.....gave up the wine calories, but that hasn't made any difference!!! Maybe if I get back to walking everyday, it will help...I was so good last summer....

I'm tired tonight....brain tired!!!!  so going to wish everyone a good night and sweet dreams...thanks for letting me vent....Hugs, Karen

Karen......how about adding the wine back in and walking more.  Works for me.

I think there is a deprivation thing going on here.  So whatever it takes not to feel deprived.  And lots of walking, and any other outdoor exercise you can think of.  Even carrying wine bottles back from the store helps.

I am up about 4 pounds from the end of September.  But suspect I will lose as I train for summer cycling events.

I cycle and ski as walking isn't enough exercise for me.

Do you weight train?  So important as we get older as keeps us sculpted in addition to burning extra calories.

Hi girls....yes it's me....I haven't forgotten you but I have been busy....you know how it is.    Wow you girls sure have been busy, there were pages for me to read, now I can't remember who said what!  Oooo so sad about Elizabeth Taylor.....she truly was a beauty and I just loved all her films in particular 'Cat on a Hot Tin Roof' with Paul Newman and Burl Ives.

Kymn how you doing, how's your treatment going?  Hope you feeling okay..  Chin up love, every one you do is one less that you have to do.

Kathy, are you healing well?  Remember not to push too hard and overdo things.

Dotty, Price is Right,  gambling, road trips..........don't you ever sit still?  Glad your trip sort of paid for itself with your DH's winnings!

To each and everyone of you, I hope you are having a great night and a better day.  catch you later girls!

Dorthy-Hooray for winnings! I hope you had a wonderful sleep, rocking gently in the hammock with Hunk waving a palm frond over you to keep you comfy.

Claire-Elizabeth Taylor was indeed young to be dying now, but it sounds like she had multiple health problems and that can take a toll on the body and heart. She certainly was an amazing lady, in the old-fashioned sense of the word.

Wahine-eek, tornado warnings! The very thought scares me silly. Give me hurricanes and blizzards any day, those I know how to deal with.

Mornin' Beanie! How are you doin' today? Been missing the Beanglish lessons!

Karen-the nurse in me is wondering if your DD is suffering from "honeymoon cystitis." I'll try to be delicate. The act of consummating a marriage can cause irritation in the female urinary tract, and can push bacteria up the urethra toward the bladder, where they can multiply and cause a Urinary Tract Infection (UTI). Bacteria from UTIs can travel up the tubes from the bladder to the kidney and cause infection there. Assuming she's had the infections cultured to make sure there isn't an odd bacteria involved a cystoscopy is in order about now to see if there is a structural problem that is involved. In the meantime there are some things she can do to help reduce the number of infections: 1) drink at least 2 liters of non-caffeinated fluid daily, with some of it being cranberry juice, or take cranberry supplements. 2) wash that area before and after sex, and have hubby wash the corresponding area before sex. 3) if they are using condoms for birth control try changing brands, especially try a latex-free brand. Latex and other chemicals can cause irritation and add to the number of infections. 4) if they are using a form of birth control that involves the use of spermicide, try changing brands, same reason as changing condoms. 5) don't wear clothing that is tight in the crotch area, and wear materials that wick away moisture, or use a panty liner and change it at least 3 times a day, but be aware that the panty liner can be a source of chemical irritation and change brands as necessary. Pantyhose is a particular no-no in this setting. If she must wear pantyhose for work, have it on for the shortest amount of time reasonably possible. 6) remember to wipe from front to back after toileting. 7) sometimes both partners are put on antibiotics when the woman is having repeated UTIs, on the theory that both people have the bacteria that is causing the problem and to prevent the infection from passing back and forth between the partners. Men have an advantage in that the bacteria can live on their genitals and in the last inch or so of the urethra but not make it all the way up into the bladder to cause a UTI. I know that's a lot-the most important thing she can do is drink 2 liters of fluid a day and keep the urinary system flushed out. That one thing makes a difference for a lot of women.

I hear you about the emotional eating, too. I eat for comfort, out of loneliness, when I'm stressed. It's frustrating, isn't it? I've changed my goal from loosing weight to maintaining the same weight until I'm done with arimidex, and then see if the weight comes off.

Chrissy! Good to see you again! We've missed you here! Know you're busy, take care of pop in for a drink occasionally!

Lots of business going on today. Time for everyone to slow down and have a dwinkie-poo! In honor of Elizabeth Taylor, today's DOTD is the Movie Star:

    1/4 oz Apricot Brandy
    1 oz White Rum
    2/3 oz Melon Liqueur
    1/4 oz Lime Juice
    1 oz Passion fruit Juice

    Directions
Shake ingredients, strain into a cocktail glass, and serve.

NM, Poifect dwink as usual! Pants, will you please make the Movie Star dwinks for us today? I'll even volunteer to be the first taster! As for your response to Karen, you put it all so well.....I was thinking it could be the "honeymoon cystitis" too, but didn't know how to mention that. PLUS you had all the good ideas on how to prevent it in the future, if that is indeed the cause. YAY, so good having a nurse among us!!! I made the awful mistake of weighing this morning, and have gained 3 lbs since my surgery about 10 days ago....yikes! I need to put the scale on the ceiling and try it that way....that cartoon is so funny! I asked the nurse on Tues if I could start back on the treadmill and she said I could.....forgot to ask how to motivate myself so I would actually do it. I don't worry too much about tornado watches/warnings IF I am at home, as the weathermen have such sophisticated equipment that they can pretty accurately predict which area of the county is in immediate danger, and we get a phone call if we need to take cover. BUT if I am out, that is another story! I do respect them as we have had some very dangerous killer tornadoes that have hit our city in the past. Any bad weather is scary though! Looks like our area missed the bullet, but TN and PA got hit last night.

Lotta errands to do today, and hope to find some nice plants at the nursery. However it may get down to freezing tonight, so can't plant everything yet. Funny how DH has not done ANY work at the townhouse since I have been unable to. All we have to do is clean the floors and change out a showerhead. Thats it! He figures out how much money we lose every day it is not rented, but he is a bit allergic to work, so I guess it won't get done till I get over there too! LOL. Such is life. But, DILLIGAF? Of course not. Ha, ha.

Dorothy, Oh wishing you the very best at your dr visit today!!! Hope it has healed well and will be able to stay put!

    Thrilling Thursday To Terrific Tatas!

Hey DorK, glad to have you back at The HTL. So awesome that you guys came home winners but a bummer that the show won't be televised. How can they afford something like that, not being televised without sponsors to pay for the prizes? Oh well, you had fun, that's all that matters. Good luck today at the docs. I sure hope you come home with BOTH girls.

Karen, at first I thought it was your 13 year old having all the issues, until you said she was married and almost 25. Glad it's not your baby. I use to get those when I was younger too. Eventually they just quit. Those kidney infections are no fun at all. I hope they can find out what is causing them. As for the weight gain, I have about 20lbs I'd like to lose. Good luck.

NM, so sweet of you to advise Karen. I just knew you would. I am with you on the "maintaining" weight until no more Arimidex. My onc told me that once I quit, the weight would just come off by itself. 2 and ½ more years to go!

Yes, Chrissy, good to see you. I think being busy is a good thing. I actually like it!

Kymn, hope all is well with you. Please stop by for a drink or a visit.

Kathy, I just know you are doing too much!

I am off toPhx in the morning, have 10 am appt for tests, will be a long day. 4 hour drive one way.

Great drinky poo in honor of Liz, may she rest in peace.

good morning ladies, sorry I have been MIA last couple of days, I went back to work yesterday and then doing everything else on top of that I have just run out of time lol. amanzing just being home for one week how you take time for granted. I am feeling much better, I might have overdone it a bit yesterday. worked a full day, came home made dinner for the family cleaned up after dinner went on my stationary bike for 20 min did homework with the kids got the youngest bathed and into bed changed the sheets then crawled into bed at 9 for a much needed sleep and wouldnt you know it I couldnt fall asleep for the life of me. Was awake until 12 then woke up again at 4 after having horrible dreams so needles to say not so full of pep and energy today lol but I am at work and its better than lying in bed wanting to puke and feeling like ther is lead in my  legs and arms.

Hope you have all been well,Dorothy your trip sounds like it was a blast, Thanks chrissy I keep trying to think that one less to do one less to do.

Love all you so much but have to run as I am at work but just wanted to let you know I am thinking of all of you

    Hugs

Dorothy sorry you all didn't get called - that would have been fun but wow at least your DH won some money - fabulous!

    Love the cubical!

NM - Love all your cartoons and such and great wonderful advice! Really so nice to share all that wisdom. My little boy came home from camp with a UTI which doctors didn't want to diagnose as boys usually don't get those but apparently at camp he was having fun and no one mentioned bathroom breaks so they think he just held it for so long he got UTI! It was awful two long trips to the hospital and 4 to the doctor's office before getting it all figured out.

    Whoops kid's home.

So, is it ok to drink vats and vats of wine? Because if it isn't, too bad.

I drink more since getting diagnosed with breast cancer.

My ovaries are not going down without a fight.

My left hip came out of the socket slighlty yesterday, thanks to Lupron and Femara.

Can I drink? Oh yes. Namaste, bitches!!!xoxoxoxo I love you all!
