Morning Ladies!
Lori, When you mentioned some others who tried living out there and didn't make it, it reminded me of the settlers who crossed the country to homestead. So rugged, and nothing when they arrived, and so many didn't make it. Did you ever see the PBS special about that experiment (reality tv?) where some people tried to recreate that? Some arrived and had to build their cabin, some got to have a cabin already there...they made their own soap, etc. It was really good....I forget the name but I bought the video. So glad you and DH have set up such a nice area there....your own utopia! And with being able to work online, it is a good situation.
Yes Karen, Safe travels today!
Gail, so funny about the Cosmo....and the kid moving!! You are a riot! At least you have good contractors to hire...I agree...not fun to paint wood windows. I usually end up doing that, plus repairing them. Hoping someone we hire for the eaves, etc will be GOOD and we can hire him for other things (repairs, girls, repairs!).
Yeah, I am like Lori, very rarely can I sleep on the plane. Even had one flight that was like 23 hrs on one plane (NY to Bangkok I think)...that was brutal, but they kept feeding us which was nice. My stepdad didn't know how long the flt would be, and kept asking us "shouldn't we be there now?". We didn't have the heart (or the guts) to tell him how long it really would be.
Stanzie, So sorry about your friends family...boy they have been through a lot. Hoping their DD's biopsy will be clear! Yeah, I agree....contractors just have their own sense of time. We don't get up early usually so would have had to been up earlier than usual too, and then play the waiting game. And the fact that usually they don't even call...sheesh!!! Hope he arrives soon, and does an excellent job!!!!
Everyone, have a great HUMP DAY!!! My DH came in here wishing me Happy "Hunch" Day...LOL. I'm sure he would like to do that! Take care Ladies!!!!
Bottomz Up!
Kathy

Astorm-thanks for the backed oatmeal recipe, I'm going to try that one soon! It sounds so good, not to mention healthy.

Stanzie--YW! Glad I could give you a reason to smile.

Karen--the sister bond looks like a lot of fun! And DD #2 probably didn't sleep, no self-respecting you camper would, after all. I bet she'll have a great time at camp.

Wahine--we really are all family here. I often tell people that I define ‘family' as the people in your life who are important to you. No legal, genetic or any other form of connection needed. The weekend wasn't rough, precisely. More like busy and mildly stressed with having to juggle hospice emergencies with timed IV medication visits. Still, I feel really good about the care I gave and the support the patients got over the weekend.

Goldie--I would so like to live totally of the grid. I have a well, but the kitchen is all electric and the heat is electric dependant, too. But I can keep working towards independence. The weekend wasn't too brutal, but I have come to realize that I don't bounce back from all-nighters like I did in college. It's only been 30 years, don't understand why I don't have the same stamina! It's not like life has intervened at all.

Claire--the strawberries are out here, the season is only 2 weeks long so I'm snapping them up whenever I see them. $5.50 a quart this year, gulp. Worth it though.

Stanzie--strawberry soup sounds really good. I used to make watermelon soup in the summer. I'll have to see if I can find that recipe again.

Wahine--I'm so sorry you and your DD had to go through that with DH. And you DID do all you could until help arrived. When they teach us nurses CPR they tell us outright that if we are doing it correctly ribs will break. A punctured lung CAN happen, but it is very rare actually and also one of the things they look for when the patient gets to the ER. In the rare instance it does happen it can be dealt with. Like one instructor said, if you need to do CPR the person is dead. There is no difference between dead with broken ribs and dead without broken ribs. There's a big difference between dead and alive with broken ribs. In the hospital when someone has had open heart surgery and needs CPR we do it the very same way we do it for anyone else. Another thing to remember--the chances of someone surviving when CPR is needed outside the hospital is almost zero unless the victim is a child or a drowning victim. Then the odds increase dramatically. CPR was developed by a doc who's daughter drowned. CPR was never expected to have an impact on survival rates for heart attacks and the like, it's true purpose is saving drowning victims and children who rarely have heart disease. Of course, you and your DD are going to feel guilty, that's natural. Just try to put it in perspective.

Kymn--Yeah for the last vampire draw! May the results be good!

Stanzie--yet another example of how life is better with chemical assistance! I can just picture your Mom and sister staggering around the golf course but hitting the ball straight and true!

Beamie--I am enjoying the money very much. The car will be paid off by the end of July. I am planning a trip to Vegas to see my cousin and have a real vacation for the first time since 2007. Got plans to pay off the student loan early, then the mortgage. Life with money is GOOD! Ooh, I love camping chick! Now if I could just sell some of my short, private tropical vacations. . . .

Karen--I prefer aisle seat on planes, too. Easier to get out to the potty, less confining. Many people prefer the window seat though. Maybe when you get on board you can ask the person on the aisle (isn't that a weird looking word?) to swap with you. I've done that before. Or let the attendant know that you are willing to swap for an aisle seat if some traveling companions got split up and want to sit together. Let us know how the Merlot is, if it's good I may run out and get some!

Wahine-- I like red wines, maybe I can take them off your hands?

Husker--Yeah for the 2nd opinion! Case managers can be very, very helpful! Believe me, the travel time will be worth it if you feel good about the RadOnc. I wish I had the option of changing when I was in rads. Upping the ativan is a good idea during rads. Anything that makes treatment more bearable makes emotional recover later quicker and easier.

DorK--good rant! The media slant on things is always suspect in my mind. And, dear, you are not the first one the tenders have found in a fetal position crying or thumb sucking. They don't think any the less of us, they just bring us stronger dwinkies and make sure to put in extra stock of our fav dwinkie ingredients.

The Corgis are so cute, and SO funny!!!!!!

Took Sadie to my Aunt's place to visit with her, my uncle who's home from Texas for my grandmother's committal service last evening. We had a really good visit, but a bittersweet one. I'm seeing too many of my extended family at funerals now. One of the nurses from the nursing home came to the committal, which was really nice. Sadie got lots of attention and enough treats to make her throw up once. She's still tired!

I think this would be a good DOTD:
Crooked Golf Cart
1 part Amaretto
1 splash Rum
2 slices Lime
5 parts Cranberry Juice
Best served in a Highball Glass.Directions
Fill glass to top with ice. Pour cranberry juice to about the halfway point. Then, pour in amaretto and continue to fill glass to top with cranberry juice. Throw a splash of rum in at the top and stir lightly. Make sure and drink over the lime, it adds an awesome flavor!

NM, what a fun dwink...so appropriate!!! Love all your cartoons, and thanks for the sweet words....tears again, but the pics were so sweet too. I wish I had thought about how broken ribs (which were already broken due to the heart surgery) and perhaps punctured lung would be better than the alternative. I guess I felt a punctured lung meant instant death. When he had his first heart attack at 34, driving home alone from work, he passed out at the wheel and ran into a pole right at a busy intersection. Someone behind him had just learned CPR, and thank god didn't think he might be drunk! A co-worker of hers was also driving by, so they both stopped, and she did save his life. I met her, and we also got the military and the Red Cross to give her the highest honor they could (she was a govt worker) at a reception. And I am sure the letter we wrote to her superiors didn't hurt either. The nurses even then told me how lucky we were. Thanks again!
Beans, your cartoons earlier were SO funny...not sure if I mentioned that. And Gail, the corgi pic was priceless!!!! My dogs are so much larger than yours, that treats DO NOT fill them up! Mav always lies by the deck door looking sad till I come out to feed them. NM, sounds like Sadie had a fun day!!!
OK...rain has stopped...still overcast and the heat has returned...hoping to "p" some more today...hate to say that word...LOL. Think I will partake in some Crooked Golf Carts!!!

NM.....congrats on life with money. Talk about a major morale boost!!!! I think that dragging one day a week is most likely worth it.
Karen....you will be in Israel soon. No more huge meals where you are urged to eat, eat, eat. Have a wonderful flight over.
DorK......not the media per se, but you wouldn't believe the whole "work/life" agenda. I did the interviewing for a series of studies on this. First of all, the women we did the study for were clueless about corporate life. Then, they believed all the nonsense they had read. (Really helps to have worked in corporate.) The companies which can easily meet all the "flexibility" criteria are the ones that win the awards. This is because it is easy for those offering consulting services to have their employees on flexible schedules. They are working from home or traveling to client locations anyway. DUH!!!!
Most jobs require that you show up. NM has one of these. You don't do most patient care remotely. And you have to be there when you say you will be there so that the healthcare services has 24/7 coverage. I used to do "on site service" which was (drum roll here), at the customer's office.
So a lot of what is going on behind the "Awards" scene.
Having said this, my former business partner and I shared space in a small firm in NYC. I really got to learn some of the nonsense that goes on in that world too. Suffice it to say, I now get "hostile work environment" including the senior partner whose criteria for choosing admin help were whether they came from a "good family" and were letch-worthy.
Enough of this rant, but at least you get the "why" behind a lot of the media nonsense. - Claire

Kathy, I did not see that show, would have been interesting though. But we do buy our soap! If I had to drive in and out of here every day to go to work, I would have to move! Is that you in your avatar? So ADORABLE!
NM, I can't imagine where that stamina went to either! Lets see, my stove and dryer are propane, fridge is electric as well as the washer. I have dish washer but have only used it 3 times I think. Our hot water is one of those "one demand". Heat is pellet stove and cooling is "swamp cooler". Awwww, poor Sadie....I hope she feels better REAL SOON!

Lori, After mentioning that show I had to hunt and find my copy....as I couldn't remember the name at all! It is called "Frontier House"...they tried to recreate life on the frontier in the 1880's. I really loved it and so did my grown kids. See if you can view it online, or rent from the library maybe. Think you would enjoy it. Yes, that is me...at 3...w/ tennis racket in front of my face. I had blonde hair till 5 or so. The other pic my aunt took that day, won her a prize in a photo contest (washing machine, or that might have been what she spent the money on)....waaaay back in the day! It shows me standing with my arms trying to hold the racket and the shadow of the ball is way off, so I wouldn't have hit it. Will try to scan that in sometime. My cousin just sent me this one this week.
Ciao,
Kathy

Oh Kymn - wonderful Wonderful!
NM- Love both posts to Kathy about CPR but especially the one about Family! - I totally agree and lovely stated.
0 -
NM - LOL! That is exactly what the nurse at my onco's office looks like! Oh, and I might have forgotten salt in that recipe.
Stanzie - I'm no quite that funny, I just found that pic online (not my dog but looks just like her as they all look alike)... And men are always complaining about waiting on women! I think I'd call that guy at 7AM on his day off and just say "oops" and hang up!
Kathy - the painter is going to repaint the wood shingles on the chimney too. DH went up there to put some primer on the shingles so the rain wouldn't damage the bare wood and almost fell off the roof. The primer did fall off the roof and all over the patio furniture and the lovely bricks that I painstakingly arranged in a perfectly flat, curved patio a couple of years ago. They are now "antiqued". Oh well, hope the weather clears up or the painter will not be able to work on Friday. It is still overcast today.

OMG Gail, how scary that your DH almost fell off the roof! What a close call. It scares me to see the roofers even walking on a roof....yikes. I know what you mean about the primer getting everywhere. Once, when my late DH was in Italy at summer camp (NG), I decided to paint our house. Well, one side of it was waaaaay high, with a deck, and then we had a deck below, where the house was brick there. But I was on a tall ladder on the upper deck, and I fell, landed on the upper deck, so sore I couldn't move, and of course my gallon of paint fell all over, and was dripping from the upper deck down to the lower deck. I tried to yell for the girls, but they were inside with the tv on and couldn't hear me. SO I had to lie there and watch all that paint fall, till I could finally move. Today I am trying to paint a high area and have to stand right near the top of the 10' ladder, so trying to hold on to the wood while I am painting. On the other higher side, is where DH holds the ext ladder for me. I am so trying to get all this done by tomorrow, and it is VERY hot today, but not quite as hot as it has been.
Stanzie, I forgot to comment, but yes, I agree that was a beautiful thing that NM wrote about family! Always so much good stuff that everyone writes, that I forget what I wanted to comment on!
YAY Kymn!!! Boy, I think ALL the dwinks you have, at every hole, should be in honor of NM's knowledge! So glad she was able to advise you, and you were able to start on the anti'b's right away!!! And it is also keeping you on schedule for your last chemo tomorrow...double yay!!! I know it would have been a big disappointment to put it off another week. We will not forget the pizza, and will see ya tomorrow!!!!

Kathy - I think there is a gene for paint spilling and possibly for falling too. DH's family has lots of stories about paint buckets landing upside down on carpeting, etc. and DH has lots of scary fall stories. On DD1's first birthday he fell offf a ladder in the garage. he was very lucky because there were 2 cars in the garage and he missed both and landed on his feet and hands. He was trying to defy the laws of physics so I was a little upset with him... also a little upset about the primer on the patio but glad he didn't come off the roof cuz he might have broken the bricks (j/k).

ROFLMAO Gail!!!! Thank God the bricks did not get broken.....

In the Philly airport waiting for my flight to Israel...Its at 9:15...I think we start boarding at 8:30....the security at the gate is unbelievable....its been like this the other times I've gone...what surprises me is that at 6, the gate looked like any other gate...at 7, there is frosted glass walls, scanners for luggage etc....Israel does their own security...TSA needs to take lessons.....
I treated myself to dinner in the airport...the place was pricey, but food was good....got a crispy fish sanwich...skipped the bun, so it really was like a small order of fish and chips...and had a glass of merlot....$8.95 for a glass of wine!!!! but it was good....they put tartar sauce on the sandwich, so they comped it, so it wasn't as bad price wise.....I didn't think to ask them to not give it to me as suslaly its on the side....So $15 for a glass of wine, sandwich and the tip (instead of $25).....
I hope I can sleep on the plane...Will take my Ambien 10mg...that should give me a solid 4 hours!!!!
The waiting area across from the gate is getting crowded...I think its a full flight...
DH flight to Toronto was over 2 hours late....DS took him to the airport and just before DH was to board, DS texted him and said his med bag was on the counter and wondered if he got what he needed!!! How DH forgot it is beyond either of us as he is a seasoned traveler....so he called me frantic, telling me to call DS...and he had already left DS a message....Had DS overnight FedX his meds to the tune of $100!!! Canadian Poste has been on strike but went back to work yesterday, but DH didn't want to risk it.... but he can't be without them for almost a week.....Lets see....DD forgot her shabbat shoes, me the computer and hubby his meds!!! You would think we have never flown before!!!!
KYmn....YEAH...last chemo...when I finished chemo, they gave me a pink silk rose and serenated me (don't remember what they sang)...it is an accomplishment!!!! Have fun at golf....
Did I tell you that my cousin invited me for Shabbat, but not for dinner as they are going out...wan't going to go, but since she called after emailing said yes....so they are picking me up at the airport tomorrow and I will spend Friday and Saturday with them....Sunday, I will take the bus to Jerusalem. My cousin lives between Tel Aviv and Haifa...She is actually my mom's cousin (her dad and my grandmother were brother and sister) but she is 1 1/2 years younger than me...we grew up as friends when we were little....So I will start staying at my gf house on Sunday and the learning program starts on Monday, but I need to go there on Sunday for registration, so will get a dry run of the bus....
Well...I best get busy...need to send a couple emails and call my DH and DD/SIL....Cheers and Sweet dreams....My next post will be from Israel....Hugs, Karen

Kathy - is that you in the avatar?
Dinner is fresh snapper from the wharf with fennel, onion and orange from my garden, peas also from my garden and steamed rice with fresh herbs and pinenuts. I always think of tomatoes from the garden as being far superior to supermarket maters but fresh peas... oh my! And fresh herbs! Don't miss the gophers that's for sure! DH came home with the fish and I just walked out to the kitchen garden with a glass of white burgundy in one hand, and harvested this feast!

Yummmmmmy Gail, That sounds soooooo good! And soooooo fresh. Yes, thats me when I was 3....another pic my aunt took of me that day with the tennis racket won her first prize in a contest (Washing machine). Fun revisiting old pics!

Karen, Will be anxious to read the stories of your adventures in Israel!
Tomorrow is rad dr #2 day...I expect that I will be pleased with him and ready to start next week! Will be interested to see how many treatments he thinks I need. I had originally hoped to be be done by the firstweek in august, but most likely I will be going until the end of August, which means that I will be going to rads when school starts again (sigh). If so, I think I will just work half days rather than try to hurry back to get to school. Other than the first day of school (always a fun day for the counselor, holding breath that schedules are okay for 250 kids!) it is probably the easiest time to be gone, if there is such a thing. Friday will be 1 month check with onc, so he will get to hear how things went at the RO.
All you gardeners...(or is it just Gail?!), planted two blueberry bushes for the first time this year. One had berries on it (still green) when I planted it; the other was just a nice green plant. I got about 3 blue blueberries from the first bush and the other berries have disappeared! Are rabbits eating my berries? WIll I see any more before November frost? They have small tomato cages around then, but would still be accessible to a silly wabbit. What will keep them away? I was so looking forward to blueberries on my cereal or oatmeal!
0 -
Kristy, Maybe it was Kymn that wiped out both blackberries! (Inside joke in cased you missed it a few pages back). No clue as to what happened. My DH has a nice small garden this year, and the tomato plants are loaded, and look so healthy. Also 3-4 pots of basil that are huge, some pepper plants, and??? He tried strawberry plants this year, but the birds or whatever, got the berries. One of our fig trees is covered, but not ripe yet. I think Gail should have invited us all over for dinner tonight!!
Kymn, Getting packed as the bus is coming verrrrry early to pick everyone up! Brought a pizza oven and all the fixings....and a big bottle of rye (is that the right dwink?)....plus bus is stocked up with everyones favorite likker/beer/wine. Yay! We will be there soon.....oh should prolly bring some aluminum foil too.

Ha ha! I do remember the joke about the Blackberries. Not so funny to poor Kymn!!
I do have chives, basil, thyme, rosemary...and one small tomato plant. And one small strawberry plant. Have gotten two small but sweet berries from that. But it sits on the table...no rabbits hopping up there! Didn't think about the birds getting the berries. I could see the sneaky things...sorta like Angry Birds game. anybody play that addictive game?!
Pizza sounds good for tomorrow's dinner with Kymn and y'all. Go start the bus!

Mmmm I love blueberries! We had the BEST blueberries in Michigan but I'm not sure if they would produce here. There are wild berry vines all over our lot but they are too much trouble so we try to kill them and just buy berries. I've planted strawberries in pots but the dogs usually eat them. They eat the apples off the low branches of the espaliered apple trees, and they bite into lemons and carry them around the yard like toys. Fortunately both dogs are short so they can't get to the upper branches and my Meyer lemon is protected because it is in the fenced herb garden. Don't like dogs in my herbs!
I don't usually grow veggies, just herbs and some fruit trees. Usually I have a couple of tomato plants in pots and then I go on vacation when the tomatoes ripen and they are mush when I get home. This year I just have 2 tomato plants - an Early Girl which is just starting to get some fruit, and a yellow pear (may favorite). The peas were a mistake... I usually plant sweet peas in pots for the flowers but I was shopping with DD2 and she thought "sugar snap" was the same thing as "sweet" and I didn't look closely until I got home. Planted them in a big pot and have been enjoying the tendrils for weeks while waiting for the pods to plump. Personally, I like them raw, but I threw some into the rice steamer when the rice was almost ready and they were perfect.
But the biggest plants in my garden are the sunflowers -- gifts from the birdfeeder. They are about 5 feet tall and still growing! I decided to just let them flower and go to seed for the birds. This might sound strange but I think artichoke thistles and flowering onions are interesting so I always plant them in the landscape and neglect them. I'm sure my mom would object! She always had acres of vegetables and everything was well-tended and beautiful. But people always ask what those tall flower are called (LOL, "errant allium" and "leviathan thistle")
This is the first year I've been up to gardening since my dx. There are several gardeners on this thread and I have found them so inspiring! So glad to be back to normal.

My gawd--have no idea how I have fallen so far behind--musta got dwunk at da pool and passed out for a couple days in my hammock......
Have brushed the cobwebs off my golf clubs and found a box of new balls and some of my fav tees.....I only liked to play with Pinnacle balls and plain varnished wood tees.......they were my golf totems. I played golf for years; took lessons; played in a golf league for years (more of a social contact thing than a sport) and golf was one thing I never got better at!!! But, I do miss the dwinking.....and, in our family room, I have a wood sign that hangs over the French doors to the deck that reads, "The 19th Hole"......many fun times at all the 19th holes I've ever seen. My fav memories though are of golfing real early on Sunday mornings here while most everyone else is off to church. We would alternate with another couple and would start the 1st tee with Bloody Mary's--drink those til they ran out then switch to beer! We had friends whose patio was half-way down the no. 2 fairway----one morning, we were hitting past their house and noticed that they had sat a huge pitcher of Bloody Mary's on their patio for us! What fun!
Travel safe, Karen! I prefer the aisle and DH the window--so I usually get stuck in the crappy middle seat! But, have a funny flying story--mostly for Karen's amusement......years ago, DH and I on a flt out of JFK to Paris; our seats ended up not being together. full flight. After stopping to re-fuel in Paris, most of the passengers were going on to Tel Aviv. I had a middle seat. The younger girl on my right had the aisle seat. It was her 1st ever plane ride and she was flying to Paris as a courier. Her checked baggage was what was being delivered to Paris and all she had on the plane with her was a small backpack that would last her a week until her return flt to the U.S. It was an interesting conversation......the lady on my left with the window seat was a bit older. She had family in Tel Aviv and flew back and forth several times a year.......late at night, she told me she needed to go to the bathroom. So, I turned to wake up the aisle seat so we could both move out of her way---and, she patted my arm---no need to move........and, she unlatched her seat belt; stood up in that crouch position because of the overhead and, gently holding the seat back in front of her, stood on the front edge of her seat; and proceeded to delicately step across me and the aisle seat with her feet on the arm rests.........it was amazing! When she came back, she returned to her seat the same way. I was speechless, but she laughed and told me she'd had a lot of practice. Since then, I have always wanted to try that but know it would be the final nail in my commitment coffin if my DH was on the same flight!!!
Jocks and Pants are helping me and we've got everyone's favorite drinks lined up at our cyber 19th hole!!!
Fore!!!! and bottomzup!!!!

YAY.....Junie is IN THE lounge!!! Funny about the woman in window seat just stepping across you both! BUT I have to say, I feel sorry for the people in the row in front. If I EVER fall asleep, inevitably someone behind me gets up by pulling back on my seat back....waking me up! aarrggghhhhhh! OR that is when the babies wake up and start screaming. Was on the phone with DL over an hr, then they said they would call back....besides having them change 1 flt to a later time because they messed up the flts we did have, I asked him to put my parents in the row behind us on that flt...even gave him the seat numbers I wanted. Well dang it if he didn't go in and change ALL of the seats we had already chosen online. When I checked right away, the 2 primo seats we had were GONE. He thought I wanted my parents with us on ea flt and so put us so far back to all be together....sheeesh. Thanks for all the dwinks at the 19th hole~
Oops....faux pas here...I confused blackberries with blueberries! Read toooo fast I guess.
Very late...going to see my PS in the morning....just a 3 mo recheck on my surgery.....no fears.
Nighty night girlies....sleep tight....have sexy dreams...wake up smiling! Then hop on the bus, as we head across the border....

Junie- that is hilarious - gosh I would fall and hurt someone if I did that not to mention making a fool of myself. Wonder how she did on her first try?
Kristy - my thought was it must be the birds. My neighbors has sun and a large wonderful garden. Still don't understand why it does so well since I have seen a bunny and know the birds are everywhere so? It doesn't have cages on it at all. I asked them about it and they said they don't do anything to prevent the animals so don't know.
Well I'll be snoozing on the bus since I'm obviously not sleeping now. actually that has been a joke for years with me. All I have to do is get in a car and I'll be asleep in no time. In collge we had a small Madrigal group and used to get gigs. Well some of them were really close but no matter I still managed to fall asleep. So after my divorce and my first car trip with the kids they were so worried I'd fall asleep they kept checking on me the whole way.
Well I may be awake but can't think of what I wanted to comment on the page before so.... tomorrow......

Oh, Kathy - Love Love LOVE your adorable avatar!!!!

Kymn, it is a day of celebration!
Such stories about falling off ladders. I have not done so, but hate getting high up on them. Gail, LMAO at the bricks not getting broken!
Karen, a few little mishaps with everyone, but in the end, all is ok!
Kathy, so glad you remembered the foil. We can have a huge celebration with it when Kymn is done. And maybe put some of the rye in her IV for her.
Junie, I thought for sure you were gonna say that passenger got a cup out! (‘nuf said)
Kristy, I would venture to say birds. But could be also be mice. They sell bird netting, but you will want to make sure it sits far enough from the berries that the birds can't land on it and peck through the net if close enough to the berries.
We are going to head to town today after work, to avoid all the weekenders that will be here tomorrow, plus give us full advantage of working outside for 4 days.0 -
Karen--have a good flight! I sometimes treat myself to a meal in the airport when I'm flying. Like you say, pricey, but usually very, very good. Sounds like your family is having an attack of the forgets! Glad it all got worked out. Now that there's been 3 instances everything should go back to normal, if you believe in the "things come in 3's" theory. Looking forward to the next post!

Astorm--Yummy dinner1 I made pizza here at home (home made dough, but store sauce this time) and put organic green pepper on it. It was soooo good! Isn't it great to just walk into the garden and harvest?

Husker--here in Maine we battle with deer, rabbits, fox, birds and who know what other beasties for the berries. EVERYONE loves blue berries! Usually the season is about a month long here. GOOD LUCK with RO #2.
That's a bear tongue, BTW.
Wisque Risque--ANYTHING with alcohol is good with pizza! Foil is always helpful, from cutting down kitchen clean up time to cutting down on the voices from outer space..

Astorm--I love the look of naturalized gardens and landscapes. Something so interesting and eye catching about them. Well tended, neat rows of herbs and veggies are nice, and easy to harvest from, but to me that's a working garden, not a pleasure garden. Not that I don't get a lot of pleasure working in the working garden!

Junie--Oh, my, how much fun your golfing with Bloody Marys must have been! And the pticher left out on the patio is priceless! I cannot imagine getting into and out of a plane seat that way, but what a way to go! I'd never be able to do that, not without lots of practice, and I don't fly that often.

Wahine--seat changes are such a pain. Not sure why airlines let us choose seats if they're just going to change them anyway. Talk about annoying. My biggest beef when flying is when the person in front of me reclines the seat, it feels like it's going to hit me in the face. Still, I manage.

Stanzie--there are ways to arrange plants so that the animals are less likely to bother. If the garden is in a wide open space smaller animals are a bit less likely to bother it. Or they may be just lucky! I don't mind sharing some of the garden goodies, but only to a degree.

Dang it, lost a post again...thought I was hitting some key accidentally as the computer turns off, but then realized it has been happening when I first get on.....DUH....updates were set for this time every day! Hope THAT will not happen anymore...hadn't totally gotten this netbook set up yet.
Anyway, HI GIRLS!!!!
Lori, My first thought too....that Junie was going to say a "cup"....LOL. Of course we couldn't foiget da foil....but glad you thought of putting the rye INTO her IV....verrrry smart! I know, I am very nervous when up high painting. Keep seeing in my mind, that guy that fell off his ladder and landed on his head on our deck....and I am painting above the same deck. Thats why I have DH hold the ext ladder for me, seems a bit safer that way. Just a bit left to do, up high. Have a great day in town today! I saw some wagon wheels for sale this week, and thought of your western "town".
Stanzie, awwwwww, thanks! Had a funny thought, but it wouldn't work out. When your kids are ready to drive, you could have them drive you around when you can't sleep. BUT was forgetting that when kids first start to drive, it is very nerve-wracking, and doubt that would work! Hope you sleep better tonight.
Kymn, Can you see us? Didn't think so, as this time we are extra-teeny-tiny. OH, but I think you notice a little movement...yup, thats us! Trying sooooo hard not to giggle, and not to crinkle the foil and draw attention to ourselves. The wenches are on the bus making the pizzas and getting the partay ready! Just think, after this, NO MORE CHEMO....hooray!!!! So, very happy for you, that you will be through with this. YAY!!!!!
We have some old discs we plan to hang in the fig tree to discourage the birds. So big to try to cover with a net, so hoping we don't have to do that. But it is SO full of green figs right now, and they are sooo yummy. Made a plant from it for my mom and DH planted it there last wk. Have another one for my DD. THe other fig tree, which we drastically pruned, doesn't have figs yet, but it is a different variey.
Gotta get ready to go to my PS....then a few errands.....hoping all you lovely ladies have a really nice day. DorK, are you ok??? Been quiet, which prolly means you are working tooooooo much!
Oops hope I didn't bump into you too hard, NM! Missed your post! Funny pics....funny about the HUMONGOUS rabbit...lol.....and all the others. I would not have wanted to be that close to that bear eating blueberries...guess someone has a really good lens, with good zoom. Love your DOTD.....I will have one (or 2 or 4), puleez!!!
Thunderous Thursday (remember those parties, girls?)!!!!

Hi girls, poppinig in from hell to say hello. Last day of the month, will celebrate when I get through this day. Hope all of you are well and will read up on posts in the evening or whenever I get home.
I am thinking there has to be a better way to make a living, thinking of starting a biz selling hotdogs and fruit in a cart in Philly....hmmm, can't seem to find a cart though. I would need employees to do the dirty work and just be owner. Gosh, they sell every kind of junk food on the street but you can't get fruit....just a thought....Ok, back to work after I rinse down my lunch with a strong one....Miss you ladies!
Peace and love to all...including me! hahaha.
