Kathi I live about a two hour drive from Adelaide pretty much right at the point where the Flinders Ranges start so the scenery can be pretty spectacular in all seasons. I lol'd at your Green Mountains coz unless they had a color change I've always known them as the Blue Mountains........lol......but I won't hold the wrong color against you coz I still knew where you meant.
Ali my dancing sock monkey still entertains me and I still smile when I see him do his thang! I always think of you when I look at him.......not that you look like him but the fact you sent him to me......lol.

Good morning, Loungettes! Woke up to a couple inches of snow and lots of wind this am. Schools are delayed all over, but the temp is rising and will be above freezing soon and everything will melt off. I supposed it had to happen sometime!
Goldie--I do miss Beanie, too, and hope she comes back soon. And I'm not very fond of cold temps and snow and ice, either. Oh, well.
Wahine--I'm not happy about the election results, either, but I will be VERY glad when all the political crabbing and back stabbing and exaggerating is done and over with. I am SO tired of politics right now. But I love everyone here, and checking in here in the ams is one of my life pleasures!
DorKable--at least my local choice did win, I'm pleased about that. And I hope the storm was as unimpressive there as it is here. There ARE times when being disappointed is a good thing!

And help all of us who cringe when we hear of another victim of the rat ba$tard losing the fight. It's hard wondering if someday it will be me that someone writes a post like that about. Chrissy--this is actually normal weather for this time of year. Growing up I remember making Halloween costumes to fit over snow suits or winter coats. It's always 50/50 if there will be snow on the ground Halloween night. It doesn't often stick in any great amount until around Thanksgiving, but we get a good October blizzard with a foot or two of snow that stays every few years. We really didn't get much snow the last few years so I expect this year will be very snowy. Fortunately, Sandy motivated everyone to get ready early this year. Right now I'm just waiting to see the plow truck go by with sand before I head out to work. Gonna take longer to get to the office, but that's about it. I'll irritate a bunch of idiot drivers by not going the speed limit on the interstate, and then laugh at them when I pass them off in the ditch further down the road. In other words, typical Maine winter stuff for me.
Cammy--chemo is hard on kidneys as well as livers. It's surprising how many people get bladder infections without the typical symptoms, but it happens all the time. Get some rest and take your meds and drink lots of water. Feel better soon!
Rakul--here's to a good MO visit tomorrow! Your mom sounds as odd about pets as mine, what a pain that can be!
Wahine--maybe we should rotate around between Ireland and Oz. We could set up a rotation so everyone gets to spend time with everyone else. I'll have to think on this one for a bit.

Good Morning Ladies....seems I've been missing some pretty big bashes here in the lounge lately. I am all read up tho now..everyone was out last night. Dorty...thanks for getting rid of all the stupid people so the girls could worship in the chapel freely with their beverages..the lord doesnt discriminate...he loves us lushes too....probly more cause we are cuter and sweeter than anyone else..and a hell of a lot more fun..and you know he does love his wine...sooo much that if there isnt any wine....he will turn the water into it...so he's a good guy to have aroun.
Cami ..hope you are feeling better...see how much you are loved with everyone offering to drink for you?? Socks is a cute name..who came up with that? What breed of dog did you say ? Or did you? I dont remember. I reallllly want a dog ...maybe after my trip to MA I can consentrate on it.
Kath....really..China already? Girl there is certainly no moss growing under your ass....you are never in one place long enough....I thought this trip was later in the year also. Have a fantabulous time !! I had to look up those "Blue Mountains" Look how GORGEOUS!
DOTD..............Blue Mountain Cocktail, of course!
Step 1: You will need
- 45 ml anejo rum
- 15 ml vodka
- 15 ml Tia Maria
- 30 ml orange juice
- 1 tsp lemon juice
- ice cubes
- 1 lemon slice
- 1 50/25ml measuring cup
- 1 cocktail shaker
- 1 strainer (or sieve)
- 1 chopping board
- 1 sharp knife
- 1 juice squeezer
- 1 old fashioned glass
Step 2: Prepare the cocktail
First, half fill the cocktail shaker with ice cubes.
Add the anejo rum, vodka and Tia Maria.
Cut an orange in half and squeeze both halves. Add to the shaker.
Cut a lemon in half, give it a good squeeze directly into the shaker.
Put the lid on the shaker, give it a firm tap to secure and shake well.
Tap the shaker to loosen the lid and fit the strainer on top.Step 3: Present your cocktail
Fill the glass almost to the top with ice and strain the cocktail into the glass.
Cut a slice of lemon, make a cut in the juicy part and put it on the side of the glass to decorate.

Lori, I have that same first pic of the Blue Mountains (think it was called "Three Sisters" or something "sisters"....really impressive. It was 7 of us staying up there about 3 days. Oh, but I didn't hear "EVERYONE" complain about the election, just HALF the people! I am sure the other half are happy, I just hope he does well and we can all be happy.
Glad you escaped that hotel Lara! I watched Asylum late last night, that one is good now. I didn't like the 2nd episode and was going to cross it off my list, but then it redeemed itself...its pretty weird and eerie.
Lynda, How was the karaoke date? He really sounds like a keeper though. I was a bridesmaid (1st time!) just about 3 yrs ago for the sitter my kids had in IN when they were babies...she lives in CA now, and she and her husband go around to diff clubs almost nightly (regular gigs) hosting the karaoke. I have some of her CD's too, and she has such a beautiful voice. I love hearing good singing.
OH SHOOT; now they are showing pics of CT, NJ,Ny, etc. on the news....I am very worried about our Dotty this time. Will call her when I wake up. HOPE she has power. I am so worried about everyone up there, like a 2nd big slap....so hard for everyone affected.

Guinness Brownie Bites with Bailey’s Cream Cheese Frosting
1 box brownie mix
1 bottle Guinness beer6 oz cream cheese
1-1/2 tbsp heavy cream
3/4 cup powdered sugar
2 tbsp Bailey’s Irish Liqueur
Green food coloring- Preheat oven to 350 degrees and grease mini muffin pans
- Prepare brownie mix as instructions indicate, replacing the amount of water required with Guinness
- Fill mini muffin wells about 2/3 of the way and bake for 20 – 25, or until cake tester comes out clean (Mine baked quicker than I expected, so keep your eyes on them!)
- Let them cool while preparing the frosting
- For the frosting, beat cream cheese and heavy cream together until smooth
- Gradually add in the powdered sugar, adding the Bailey’s and food coloring last
- Fill a piping bag with frosting and use a medium-sized round tip to pipe 4 leaf clovers, and a smaller tip for the stems0 -
