Your heart's voice is your true voice. It is easy to ignore it, for sometimes it says what we'd rather it did not--and it is so hard to risk the things we have. But what life are we living, if we don't live by our hearts? Not a true one. And the person living it is not the true you.

It's autumn weather today in Chicago. Better than that blast of summer we had last week. Hope everyone here is doing well.

Beautiful here in Bloomington Normal as well. The sky was just midnight blue yesterday at about 6pm.... Perfect football weather.

It's been sweater weather most of the day and this evening in the middle of the state where I live. It will warm up again tomorrow ( won't set any records though ) so no more sweater. Interesting to go from stifling to needing to bundle up in the space of just a few days.

Most people see success as being rich and famous or powerful and influential. Others see it as being at the top of their profession and standing out from the rest.
The wise see success in a more personal way; they see it as achieving the goals they have set for themselves, and then feeling pride and satisfaction in their accomplishments. True success is felt in the heart, not measured by money and power.
So be true to yourself and achieve those goals you set. For success is reaching those goals and feeling proud of what you have accomplished.
Tim Tweedie0 -
Oh,
the comfort, the inexpressible comfort of feeling safe
with a person; having neither to weigh thoughts nor measure
words, but to pour them all out, chaff and grain together,
knowing that a faithful hand will take and sift them, keep
what is worth keeping, and then, with the breath of
kindness, blow the rest away.George Eliot

The quote is one that has turned up for me many times. I put it here again because I always feel it has returned to my in-box because someone needs to see it.
Blessings,

The book of life is filled with incoherent riddles.
Life's true lessons are inscribed in a corner of the margin.
- Jonathan Lockwood Huie0 -
from one of my favorite people:
You are goodness and mercy, and compassion and undersanding. You are forgiveness and patience, strength and courage, a helper in time of need, a comforter in time of sorrow, a healer in time of injury, a teacher in time of confusion. You are the deepest wisdom and highest truth; the greatest peace and the grandest love.
You are these things. And in moments of your life, you have known yourself as these things. Choose now to know yourself as these things always.
Neale Donald Walsch0 -
Because the divine goodness could not be adequately represented by one creature alone, God produced many and diverse creatures, that what was wanting in one in the representation of the divine goodness might be supplied by another. For goodness, which in God is simple and uniform, in creatures is manifold and divided. Thus the whole universe together participates in the divine goodness more perfectly and represents it better than any single creature. -St. Thomas Aquinas

Imagine your mind as a garden and thoughts as the seeds you plant. Habitual negative,
unhealthy, self-critical thoughts produce the weeds and thistles of depression, discontent,
and anxiety in the garden of your mind. Luckily, the opposite is also true.
Consistently planting positive, healthy, constructive thoughts will yield a crop
of beautiful feelings, such as gratitude, love, and joy.Sue Patton Thoele

The moment of grace comes to us in the dynamics of any situation we walk into. It is an opportunity that God sews into the fabric of a routine situation. It is a chance to do something creative, something helpful, something healing, something that makes one unmarked spot in the world better off for our having been there. We catch it if we are people of discernment.

Fall is in the air today. I'm not ready, but I don't think I ever am. Spring and Summer always seem as if they fly by while Winter hangs on so tightly. Well, there will still be some memorable days too. Beginning already to think of the last wiener roast usually in October. Everyone is sitting on bales of hay with a big roaring fire in the middle and long sticks to cook your own hot dog. It is such a grand way to say good-bye to summer and great preparation to welcome the crispy mornings with leaves still to be gathered and yard ornaments to be put in storage. Just not quite ready.

Gratitude bestows reverence,
allowing us to encounter everyday epiphanies,
those transcendent moments of awe that change forever
how we experience life and the world.
- John Milton0 -
Befriending the life in others is sometimes a complex matter. There are times when we offer our strength and protection, but these are usually only temporary measures. The greatest blessing we offer others may be the belief we have in their struggle for freedom, the courage to support and accompany them as they determine for themselves the strength that will become their refuge and the foundation for their lives. I think it is especially important to believe in someone at a time when they cannot yet believe in themselves. Then your belief will become their lifeline. -Rachel Naomi Remen

got my 2d dexa scan done. Two years after the first, after I was diagnosed. Couldnt talk him in to one last year. I have 7% decline overall and 12% in left hip area. Considered osteopoenic. Recommends calcium and vitamin D, tho didnt tell the nurse who called me how much. I already take a one a day- so the amounts in that are still below what I should take to help prevent further decline? Anyone know if my percent decline is considered big or not? At the original scan my numbers were right down the middle as normal. I'm 57 so older.

aviva5675,
I hate it when doctors don't relay the whole information. Do you know what your numbers were last time you had the DEXA? The severity of the decrease is relative to whatever you were before. Also there is a margin of error for the results. Not sure what that is.
If I take my scores, a 7 or 12% decline from -0.3, is negligible, still -0.3. And the same with -1.6, which at worse would take me to -1.8.
I think it is the fact your density is declining is important to know. Need to ramp up efforts to stabilize it. Maybe eating an extra serving of calcium and adding 10-15 minutes a day of bone building exercise. I think doctors tell us to pop calcium pills because that is easier than having a deeper conversation. To tell us that without discussing how much to take and when best to take it is not helpful. Hope you can get more information.
My DEXA is coming up later this fall. I'm curious if I'm holding steady or not after two more years on AIs. Last time nothing had changed for over 8 years and I'd just gone through chemo.

My percentages were low after the 1st year but it put me in osteoperosis.

A life of love is difficult, but it is not a bleak or unrewarding
life. In fact, it is the only true human
and happy life, for it is filled with concerns that are as deep as life, as
wide as the whole world, and as far reaching as eternity. It is only when we have consented to love,
and have agreed to forget ourselves, that we can find our fulfillment. This fulfillment will come unperceived and
mysterious like the grace of God, but we will recognize it and it will be
recognized in us. -John Powell0 -
They said take a 1200 mg calcium with Vitamin D. and excercise. I really have to focus on that part...even if its a walk a day and something else mild. Would be good for my back too, I have a lower back strain often.

Aviva -- I think the Vit D. should be D-3. That enhances the calcium. I take a 1000mg plus a 400 mg D-3. Since too much ( at one time ) tends to leave the body, I take two tablets in the morning and another two in the evening --- and in the meantime I take a good Multi that has some of each ( calcium and D ) in it. So far, so good.

I am living the nightmare right now...my husband passed away Saturday morning while driving his tractor. He had a major heart attack that took him immediately and left the tractor moving on down the road until it gently swerved into an embankment and promptly caught fire, burning him over 85% of his body...he never knew what happened.
ritajean and Redheaded1, his obituary was in Tuesday's paper.
I can't wait for 2015 to be done!

Laura I don't have words to say how sorry I am to hear this tragedy. I'm so glad he didn't suffer. Please take care of yourself. If you need to talk PM me and I'll give you my phone number.

Laura,
I'm so sorry to hear that. I can't imagine what you are going through right now. We are all here for you.

Laura, how sorrowful for this to happen. Like Lago I too am glad that mercifully it was quick. Just sorry some of the other aspects took place with his transition. There is a better place and no one gets to know just when the journey there will take place, or how long or the conditions. Prayer and love to you and all other friends and loved ones in the coming days and as you look to find peace.
