Laura ---- what great news.  Finally the light is on high beam now at the end of the chemo tunnel.  Time to rest up -- get through any dregs from the last two weeks and celebrate as soon as you feel up to it.

DoingwhatIhavetodo,  Am I still hearing the whoosh of relief --- yes, I think I am.  So happy for you.  Glad the boulder in the road turned out to be a pebble.  That's fantastic news and just what everyone hoped to hear.  Yay !!!

    Happiness is not the
    absence of problems,

Compassion is the most precious of all gifts. In times of sorrow and bewilderment, it is what restores us and offers refuge. It is the force of empathy in your own heart that allows you to reach out and touch the broken heart of another. It is rooted in the heartfelt acknowledgement that others, like ourselves, yearn to be free from suffering and harm, and be safe and happy. It is compassion that rescues us from despair and helplessness, that provides a refuge of peace and understanding inwardly and outwardly. Compassion does not claim to be a quick-fix for the age-old causes of suffering, nor is it a magic wand that will sweep away sorrow. But it is our commitment to compassion and our willingness to nurture it in every moment that gives meaning to life.

    To live content with small means; to seek elegance rather than luxury;
and refinement rather than fashion; to be worthy, not respectable; and wealthy,
not rich; to study hard, think quietly, talk gently, act frankly; to listen to
stars and birds, to babes and sages, with open heart; to bear all cheerfully,
do all bravely, await occasion, hurry never; in a word, to let the spiritual,
unbidden, and unconscious to grow up through the common.  This is to be my
    symphony.  -William Henry Channing

Yea Laura!!!! You did it! You're a chemo grad!!!! It won't be long now and you'll be feelng more like your ol' self!

I have had a hectic summer with weekly stays from my grandsons and golfig events. The grandsons are home getting ready for school which starts on Friday in Tennessee and the golfing events are winding down. Dave and I co-chaired the Golf 4 the Cure which was Saturday. It was lots of work but we earned quite a bit for research and for our local area. I am still tired, though and hoping to sleep in tomorrow.

Welcome DoingwhatIhavetodo. Such good news! Whew! So happy for you!

Redheaded, I kept my cholesterol down by walking. I bet mine has soard up again now that I have been out of my walking routine. I need to get back into my morning walk but lately I have been talking myself out of them.

There are no little events in life; those
we think of no consequence may be full
of fate, and it is at our own risk if
    we neglect the acquaintances and
opportunities that seem to be casually
    offered, and of small importance.

As I look back at the entire tapestry of my life, I can see from the perspective of the present moment that every aspect of my life was necessary and perfect.  Each step eventually led to a higher place, even though these steps often felt like obstacles or painful experiences.

The rain is finally here today.  Hope your morning is fine where you are.  Maybe you are welcoming the rain as well.  I don't usually, but we have gotten so dry and dusty as of late -- that for once I'm glad.  I think we will have a couple of days of it so while it will likely be rather sultry afterwards  for once I'm happy about it.

If the sight of the blue sky fills you with joy, if a blade of grass springing up in the field has power to move you, if the simple things of nature have a message that you understand, rejoice, for you soul is alive.

I had my Day 8 appointment with my awesome MO today--numbers were on the low side but not as bad as before. Chatted for a bit, discussed the next step, and off I went! He said take the rest of the month and heal, and see him in November!!! So...Femara starts in September.

Oh, and I also lost 5 pounds in the past week! It was a good day!

One of the most important--and most neglected--elements in the beginnings of the interior life is the ability to respond to reality, to see the value and the beauty in ordinary things, to come alive to the splendor that is all around us.

Life has no other discipline to impose, if we would but realize it, than to accept life unquestionably.  Everything we shut our eyes to, everything we run away from, everything we deny, denigrate, or despise, serves to defeat us in the end.

What seems nasty, painful, evil, can become a source of beauty, joy and strength, if faced with an open mind.  Every moment is a golden one for those who have the vision to recognize it as such.

Practice being gentle, respectful and loving toward the life force
in all things.  Remind yourself that your efforts do make a difference,
even if you think they are miniscule in comparison
to the magnitude of the problem.

There is no physician like cheerful thought for dissipating the ills of the body; there is no comforter to compare with good will for dispersing the shadows of grief and sorrow.  To live continually in thoughts of ill will, cynicism, suspicion, and envy, is to be confined in a self-made prison hole.  But to think well of all, to be cheerful with all, to patiently learn to find the good in all—such unselfish thoughts are the very portals of happiness; and to dwell day by day in thoughts of peace toward every creature will bring abounding peace to their possessor.  -James Allen

This is the true joy in life, the being used up for a purpose recognized by yourself as a mighty one; the being a force of nature instead of a feverish, selfish little clod of ailments and grievances, complaining that the world will not devote itself to making you happy.  I am of the opinion that my life belongs to the community, and as long as I live, it is my privilege to do for it whatever I can.  I want to be thoroughly used up when I die, for the harder I work the more I live.  I rejoice in life for its own sake.  Life is no “brief candle” to me.  It is a sort of splendid torch which I have got hold of for a moment, and I want to make it burn as brightly as possible before handing it on to future generations.

If civilization is to survive, we must cultivate the science of human relationships -- the ability of all people's, of all kinds, to live together, in the same world at peace.
