Hi gals! Just wanted to wish all of you a Merry Christmas and a Happy, Healthy, New Year. I am flying out to TN on Tuesday and am not taking my computer. I think I can get along without it for a week since I'll have grandsons!
We drove to Springfield today to do a Christmas exchange with Dave's daughter. The interstates were heavily salted and in good shape so we came back through Peoria and stopped at Bass Pro Shop to pick up a few things. The parking lot at the restaurant was a little icy but other than that, things were good. I still hate the cold, ice, and snow, though and am counting down the days until we head south after Christmas!
Jackie, you are such a trooper! This thread goes for days with only your quotes. Thank you for attempting to keep it going!

Ugh. Dunno what’s falling faster-- the snow, the temp, or the barometric pressure. (The latter hasn’t caused an LE flare, though the night is young). NBC5 had live dashcam footage of driving on the outbound Kennedy (I-90), and it looks as if the plows & salt trucks aren’t keeping up. Bob is at our friend’s party—having walked several blocks to & from the L. I’m icing my back and mumbling my mantra “it’s only pain."

I slept and dreamt that life was joy.
I awoke and saw that life was service.
I acted and behold, service was joy.

Coming here daily continues to bring me a feeling of love, joy and completeness. Having somewhere to be, very understood and feeling just that, may not have totally saved my life, but it did so much for my peace of mind, otherwise known as sanity. Sharing exactly what others were going through. each with their own action plans and 'medical' teams helped me from feeling very alone and helpless. My gratitude for that and for each of you who made my life so much better way back then by sharing it all, is to always do my best to find something that lifts all of us up together again. So the gift of a quote my dear friends -- old and new.
Blessings,
Jackie

I believe that life is given us so we may grow in love, and I believe
that God is in me as the sun is in the colour and fragrance
of a flower--the Light in my darkness, the Voice in my silence.
Helen Keller0 -
It's possible to have too much in life. Too many clothes jade our appreciation for new ones; too much money can put us out of touch with life; too much free time can dull the edge of the soul.We need sometimes to come very near the bone so that we can taste the marrow of life rather than its superfluities.
Joan Chittister0 -
As a television or radio antenna stretches upward to capture symphonies from the sky, so you, through meditation and prayer, can stretch your spirit upward to receive God's immortal music in your life.To be spiritually vertical means to keep constantly stretching upward toward life's highest good—towards love, faith, courage, hope, and joy. - Wilferd A. Peterson

"Maybe the reason nothing seems to be 'fixing you' is because you're not broken. Let today be the day you stop living within the confines of how others define or judge you. You have a unique beauty and purpose; live accordingly."
-- Steve Maraboli0 -
Christmas is not a time nor a season, but a state of mind.
To cherish peace and goodwill, to be plenteous in mercy,
is to have the real spirit of Christmas.

A free mind is one which is untroubled and unfettered by anything, which has not bound its best part to any particular manner of being or worship and which does not seek its own interest in anything but is always immersed in God's most precious will. . . . There is no work which men and women can perform, however small, which does not draw from this its power and strength. - Meister Eckhart

Believe nothing, no matter where you read it,
or who said it, no matter if I have said it,
unless it agrees with your own reason
and your own common sense.
- The Buddha0 -
Learn to become still.
And to take your attention away from what you don't want,
and all the emotional charge around it,
and place your attention on what you wish to experience.
- Michael Beckwith0 -
"Pause and remember: Every single event in your life, especially the difficult lessons, have made you smarter, stronger and wiser than you were yesterday."
-- Jenni Young0 -
Begin and end each day with an expression of gratitude and thanksgiving. Every morning when you awake you have been given the gift of a sunrise and twenty-four hours to live. This is a precious gift. You have the wonderful opportunity to take this day and live joyously, with appreciation for everything that you encounter.Take a deep breath and be grateful for this exhilarating experience of breathing in life and love.Similarly, end your day with an expression of love, and a repetition of the word for peace, "Shalom."

Hope it's all good.

Great quote by Wayne Dyer. Thanks, Jackie.
Happy New year to all.

It depends on us. . . Another year lies before us like an unwritten page, an unspent coin, an unwalked road. How the pages will read, what treasures will be gained in exchange for time, or what we find along the way, will largely depend on us. -Esther Baldwin York

Your morning thoughts may determine your conduct for the day. Optimistic thoughts will make your day bright and productive, while pessimistic thinking will make it dull and wasteful.Face each day cheerfully, smilingly, and courageously, and it will naturally follow that your work will be a real pleasure and progress will be a delightful accomplishment. -William M. Peck

Seek out that particular mental attitude which makes you feel most deeply and vitally alive, along with which comes the inner voice which says, "This is the real me," and when you have found that attitude, follow it. - William James

I thought people here in the Chicago area might be interested in a weight loss group that is starting later this month at the Cancer Wellness center in Northbrook. It was originally going to take place on Tuesday afternoons for 20 weeks, but when I called up inquiring about the class, I found out that they had a greater response than they had expected, and they were considering adding a second class. I am waiting for them to call me back to confirm exactly when the class is going to start. I might call them up again tomorrow. When I first called up about the class, I was transferred to somebody who was not at her desk, and I had to leave a message. When she called me back, she told me that she is only there three days a week. She then asked me why I wanted to take the class, and I told her because I was starting on Femera, and I was concerned that I was going to gain weight on it. She said that the person teaching the class would be able to help me in that regard. She also told me that she would give my number to somebody else, who would call me back in a few days. That person did call me back, and told me that only people who received received breast cancer treatment such as surgery, chemo or radiation during 2016 would be eligible for the class. If you received treatment prior to that time you would not be eligible. People who are currently receiving treatment are also eligible to take the class. That person that I spoke to said that somebody else would call me up sometime in January to tell me when the class is going to start. That makes three people you have to talk to to sign up for the class. I don't know why you have to go through so many hoops.

There is an Indian proverb or axiom that says that everyone is a house with four rooms--a physical, a mental, an emotional, and a spiritual. Most of us tend to live in one room most of the time, but unless we go into every room every day, even if only to keep it aired, we are not a complete person.
