Guard within yourself that treasure, kindness. Know how to give without hesitation, how to lose without regret, how to acquire without meanness; know how to replace in your heart, by the happiness of those you love, the happiness that may be wanting to yourself. -George Sand

Our capacity to make peace with another person and with the world depends very much on our capacity to make peace with ourselves. If we are at war with our parents, our family, our society, or our church, there is probably a war going on inside us also, so the most basic work for peace is to return to ourselves and create harmony among the elements within us--our feelings, our perceptions, and our mental states. . . . We must recognize and accept the conflicting elements that are within us and their underlying causes. It takes time, but the effort always bears fruit. When we have peace within, real dialogue with others is possible.

Believing is a daring adventure into the unseen, it is a radiant faith in the unexplored, the undiscovered, the miracles of the future. . . There is magic in the art of believing! Believe! Engrave these words of the Master in your memory: "All things are possible to those who believe."Believe! Believe in the limitless supply of God's goodness. The universe is filled with more wonders than you can imagine. -Wilferd A. Peterson

Truth is the beginning of every good thing, both in heaven
and on earth; and the person who would be blessed
and happy should be from the first a partaker of
truth, for then that person can be trusted.

I am frustrated with my inability to schedule appointments and what feels like a lack of interest in any of my concerns over the last few months. I had swollen lymph nodes under both arms in Jan which my primary doctor treated as an infection from razor...took antibiotic , about a month later another painful swollen lymph node in my underarm of non treated side. My dr recc. I notify my breast surgeon in case they wanted to do more imaging. I emailed them through a portal, they told me to follow up with my primary dr ??? Um that is who told me to contact your office . I am having a hard time seeing my actual breast surgeon for my upcoming annual visit and have seen my oncologists nurse my last two visits because he only sees patients on Monday. I’m supposed the be in the best hands at a NCI Cancer Center /teaching hospital (northwestern). ..but I feel like I am just a number and not sure I am receiving the right care.

In our rough and rugged individualism, we think of gentleness as weakness, being soft and virtually spineless. Not so!Gentleness includes such enviable qualities as having strength under control, being calm and peaceful when surrounded by a heated atmosphere, emitting a soothing effect on those who may be angry or otherwise beside themselves, and possessing tact and gracious courtesy that causes others to retain their self-esteem and dignity.Instead of losing, the gentle gain.Instead of being ripped off and taken advantage of, they come out ahead! -Charles Swindoll

I am a long time out gigibee, so not sure how valid I am, but I think I would get ahold of that oncology nurse and make sure that she GETS how much concern and un-ease you are feeling about your care and the advice you are getting. We all need to have a positive feeling in regard to our care. I hope you are abler to make headway. I think if not maybe you might want to look for someone else/second opinion of how your overall care is going. Lymph nodes are filters, but you need assurances and I am hopeful there is a solution.

Real wealth does not depend on worldly status or a bank balance. It is available in the sweeping cloud formations above you, the soft grass under your bare feet, the light in your children's eyes, and your funny cat. If we could realize the depth and extent of the gifts we have already been given, we would attain heights of ecstasy that collecting stuff will never achieve.

On life's journey faith is nourishment, virtuous deeds are a shelter,
wisdom is the light by day and right mindfulness is the protection
by night. If a person lives a pure life nothing can destroy him or
her; If one has conquered greed nothing can limit one's freedom.

May we never let the things we can't have, or don't have, or shouldn't have, spoil our enjoyment of the things we do have and can have. As we value our happiness, let us not forget it, for one of the greatest lessons in life is learning to be happy without the things we cannot or should not have. -Richard L. Evans

gigibee, thank you for letting me know. It always feels better to be doing something and working toward getting answers. This is always a dx. that has the ability to upset our emotional state and leave us feeling vulnerable and sort of un-protected. I'm glad your on your way to figuring out your condition and hoping that you come away with results you can feel good about. Wishing you good health and wellness.

It is not always easy to hear the truth, but . . . . the truth can lead us on to be better than we already are. When we walk in the truth, we are walking toward God. God is truth, and the more time we spend in honesty, the more time we spend with God. Not only should we seek out truth in others, but we should let others know that they will receive truth when they come to us.

There is very little we could want more than for other people to be able to trust us. Trust is the cornerstone upon which solid and lasting friendships are built. We can do a person no greater service than to deal with them in truth and love. -Dan and Nancy Dick

True silence really means going deep within yourself to that place where nothing is happening, where you transcend time and space. You go into a brand new dimension of nothingness. That's where all the power is. That's your real home. That's where you really belong, in deep Silence where there is no good or bad, no one trying to achieve anything. Just being, pure being. . . .
    Silence is the ultimate reality.

Be of good cheer. Do not think of today's failures, but of the success that may come tomorrow. You have set yourselves a difficult task, but you will succeed if you persevere; and you will find a joy in overcoming obstacles. Remember, no effort that we make to attain something beautiful is ever lost. -Helen Keller

Youth is not a time of life, it is a state of mind. You are as old as your doubt, your fear, your despair. The way to keep young is to keep your faith young. Keep your self-confidence young. Keep your hope young.

The future is not a result of choices among alternative paths offered by the present, but a place that is created--created first in the mind and will, created next in activity. The future is not some place we are going to, but one we are creating.

I'm so sorry to hear that. I hate to admit that I don't totally remember her, but never-the-less I grieve with her loved ones and send prayers to them for this difficult time. I wish them love and peace and when the time is right beautiful memories that will bring joy.

How necessary it is to cultivate a spirit of joy. It is a psychological truth that the physical acts of reverence and devotion make one feel devout. The courteous gesture increases one's respect for others. To act lovingly is to begin to feel loving, and certainly to act joyfully brings joy to others which in turn makes one feel joyful. I believe we are called to the duty of delight. -Dorothy Day

A thin line separates laughter and pain, comedy and tragedy, humor and hurt. Our lives constantly walk that line. When we slip off on one side or the other, we're taken by surprise. But who said there wouldn't be surprises? Knowing God just means that all the rules will be fair; at the end of our life drama, we'll see that. We never know how things will turn out, but if we know with certainty they will make sense regardless of how they turn out, we're on to something. -Barbara Johnson
