Occasionally in life there are those moments of unutterable fulfillment which cannot be completely explained by those symbols called words. Their meaning can only be articulated by the inaudible language of the hearts. -Martin Luther King, Jr.

And when we come to think of it, goodness is uneventful. It does not flash, it glows. It is deep, quiet, and very simple. It passes not with oratory, it is commonly foreign to riches, nor does it often sit in the places of the mighty: but may be felt in the touch of a friendly hand or the look of a kindly eye. -David Grayson

"Wholeness is a state of being. It is your true nature and core essence.
The world would convince you of the separateness of everything you see.
See the world through my eyes, and you will see the union
that encompasses all of creation--the loving essence of God
that is the glue that binds all of creation into wholeness."

I see no mention here, but I've been gone for a few weeks having to have a mitral valve replacement. A lot of it was something of a surprise to me although I did have rheumatic fever as a child.

I got home a couple of days ago and am working on rehab. I should be able to find a time daily now to once again share the quotes I so love with you.

Hope you have all been very well and will stay that way.

Mindfulness is simply being aware of what is happening right now without wishing it were different; enjoying the pleasant without holding on when it changes (which it will); being with the unpleasant without fearing it will always be this way (which it won't). -James Baraz

I believe that the first test of a truly great person is his or her humility. I do not mean by humility, doubt of his or her own powers. But really great people have a curious feeling that the greatness is not in them, but through them. And they see something divine in every other person. -John Ruskin

Perhaps, indeed, there are no truly universal ethics: or to put it more precisely, the ways in which ethical principles are interpreted will inevitably differ across cultures and eras. Yet, these differences arise chiefly at the margins. All known societies embrace the virtues of truthfulness, integrity, loyalty, fairness; none explicitly endorse falsehood, dishonesty, disloyalty, gross inequity.

The world is not in need of saving; it is perfect in itself--it is not a mess to be fixed up. It is harmonious and whole, and it is our responsibility to harmonize with it, not change it.

Life is not a competition with others. In its truest sense it is rivalry with ourselves. We should each day seek to break the record of our yesterday. We should seek each day to live stronger, better, truer lives; each day to master some weakness of yesterday; each day to repair past follies; each day to surpass ourselves. This is, simply, progress.

As the sun makes ice melt,
    kindness causes misunderstanding,
    mistrust, and hostility to evaporate.

If we could but recognize our common humanity, that we do belong together, that our destinies are bound up in one another's, that we can be free only together, that we can be human only together, then a glorious world would come into being where all of us lived harmoniously together as members of one family, the human family. -Desmond Tutu

    Jackie,

Glad to hear that you are on the mend. I only come to this site a time or two through the year now. But I always check in on the Illinois Ladies thread. Thanks for keeping it going for all these years. Its been more than 12 years since I joined this group. I am cancer free. Trying to live life and appreciate the good things it has to offer.

My screen name still applies....My son continues his active duty service. Been 13 years now. Currently on his 5th deployment overseas.

Would love to see other Illinois Ladies check in here and post how they are doing.

    Happy Holidays to all.

You are here to evolve and make your consciousness high
You are here to dance, sing and celebrate life.
You are here to help others to make their life happy.
We are here not to compete, but to learn, evolve and excel.
We are not here to make divisions in the name of prophets and religions.
We are here to encompass the world with love and light.

    Navy Mom,

How great to hear from you and how fantastic that you have remained ned. May it last forever.
Good to hear your name is holding. I wish only good things for your son who I'm sure works hard at his duty stations for all the rest of us. I deeply ( being Army myself ) appreciate those willing to be of great service to others.

Wishing all the best for you and your whole family.

    Jackie

Christmas--that magic blanket that wraps itself about us, that something so intangible that it is like a fragrance. It may weave a spell of nostalgia. Christmas may be a day of feasting, or of prayer, but always it will be a day of remembrance-- a day in which we think of everything we have ever loved.

NavyMom, one of my oldest--as in longtime--friends (who had DCIS the year after I had IDC) lives one town over from you in Minooka--in fact, only 1/4 mi. e. of Channahon!

Jackie, thank you for the daily inspitation, especially in light of all you've been through this year.

I'm doing okay--6-1/2 yrs. out from dx, and finishing up 6 yrs on letrozole. The blood bank turned me down for my appt. tomorrow--not because of the letrozole, but because since my ocular melanoma couldn't be removed w/o taking the eye (no thanks), I am not considered "cancer-free" or "NED" because the eye tumor is still there, albeit stable (perhaps even inert) and treated almost a year-and-a-half ago. The scheduler will ask her supervisor if that counts as sufficiently "NED" to take either my blood or plasma. The American Cancer Society's position is that no recipient has ever gotten cancer from blood donated by a non-blood-cancer patient, even one who is metastatic. There is a citywide blood drive (sponsored by ABC7) in January--maybe a note from my OO and melanoma MO might make a difference.

A very merry Christmas to all my BCO sisters (and a brother or two)!

Hello bc sisters! Not on here often but I do get Jackie's daily post and think of you all. I found myself here over 11 years ago while undergoing treatment. What a life saver! We used to get together for lunch on occasion and that was so much fun and a great support. I completed a full 10 years on letrozole last January! Yeah! Disappointed that I really did not notice any change in aches and pains. Guess it's just age. ):

We moved to the Phoenix, Arizona area 8 years ago to get away from winter. Yes, the summer afternoons are hot, but we have acclimated and go on vacation. I still consider myself one of the "Illinois Ladies. Please stay safe in our crazy, crazy Covid world. This too shall pass. Soon, I hope. Merry Christmas to you all.

Someone once asked me what I regarded as the three most important requirements for happiness. My answer was: "A feeling that you have been honest with yourself and those around you; a feeling that you have done the best you could both in your personal life and in your work; and the ability to love others." -Eleanor Roosevelt

If I could tell the world just one thing
it would be we're all okay,
and not to worry cause worry is wasteful
and useless in times like these.
    I won't be made useless.
I won't be idle with despair,
I will gather myself around my faith.
Light does the darkness most fear.

When the heart of your heart opens, you can take deep pleasure in the company of the people around you . . . When you are open to the beauty, mystery, and grandeur of ordinary existence, you "get it" that it always has been beautiful, mysterious, and grand and always will be. -Timothy Ray Miller
