Good morning, ladies.
Just a quick hello as I'm running late today. (Everyone must be in a rush because there's not many posts yet!!!!)
Wendy...I loved your story! Thanks for sharing! I have relived many good times between me and my mom in my mind since you suggested this. It does remind me that at least I have my memories and many of them are good. Thanks again. ((Hugs))
I'm about done with my fourth week of rads and still doing pretty well. Clutz that I am, I fell over my own feet this morning and wrenched my back a bit. I am heading for the golf course to see if I can work it out. I may be home sooner than I anticipate.
Hope all of you have a good day.

Hi everyone
We got back from Chattanooga Tuesday evening. While there we went to the Tennessee Aquarium, Ruby Falls Cavern, Incline Railway and Rock City Gardens...got some great pictures Laura
The next 10 weeks is going to be busy (that's how long our granddaughter that we went to Chattanooga to pick up will be staying with us) so my computer time will be limited. Plans are to drive her back home to Louisianna in mid July.
Not sure if I'll be able to do the get together, we have weekend stuff planned with both granddaughters for the next 10 weeks.
Hope everyone who's in chemo and/or rads is doing well.

Morning Ladies...
Was I the ONLY one who while watching Gray's Anatomy and a news ad comes on and says "tune in at 10 to see how to protect your plants from frost" - there I was, running all over with garbage bags for half an hour, and putting all hanging baskets in the garage. Good thing Gray's is repeated tonight!
Hope you have a wonderful day and hope all the chemo/rads girls are blissfully side-effect free!
Wendy K0 -
Good morning ladies. It's Friday and I don't have to go to the cancer center for two days for rads! I feel like somebody just gave me a giant slab of chocolate cake!
I have finished four weeks now and the skin is still holding out pretty well. In fact, it's turning brown and becoming tanned. I wonder if it will peel off before this is done???????
Kathy, when is your next chemo and how are you handling the hair loss?
JanClare...How did the Y-Me RAce go and what did you find out yesterday...(that mystical Thursday when all was to be finally revealed!!!)? Did they give you something to put on your skin?
Michele..How'd T/Herc#2 go yesterday and how are you doing today?
Connie..Do you have a week off inbetween chemos or do you go every Thursday? If you went yesterday, how did it go?
Wendy P.. Have you started Tamoxifin yet?
Kats...enjoy your time with your granddaughter.
Wendy K...There were lots of surprises on Grey's Anatomy last night. Can't wait to see what you think about a few of them.
Laura...since it appears that there's no severe objection to either the 23rd or the 30th of June for our outing, why don't you just pick one and tell us what to do? Also, if we have this at somebody's house, everybody should bring something, I think. Any other suggestions anyone????
Well, I have things to do today so I'd better get moving.
Have a great day ladies!

Hi Girls -
I tried to put together a poll but couldn't figure it out. I wanted to have it here within our thread - but it would only let me do it at the forum.
How about Saturday - June 30th?
JanClare - you'll need to let us know what to bring...
-------------------
I have not been feeling well - on and off this week - I'll catch up with you all later. I have to catch my Dr. b/4 their office closes for the weekend.
I hope everyone else is doing well!0 -
Hello everyone-
Rita-had T/Herc#2 last Tues, I thought it was going to be much shorter than the 1st visit but with the premeds, etc, it was still over 3 hours-yikes!.
I'm feeling ok and have been able to continue working part time.
I hope your back is better, you don't need that ache on top of everything else! 4 weeks into rads-that went fast(probably not for you.)
Laura-Hope you're feeling better. Saturday 30th is good for me.
WendyK-LOL reading your mom story:)
Happy Friday!
Michele0 -
Laura Sorry you aren't feeling well, hope you were able to get through to your doctor.
Here's how to add a poll to this thread:
First start by clicking on reply to any post on this thread just like you'd do for a normal posting. After you've done that you'll see this:
Add a poll to this post. Total questions:
it's below the Instant Graemlins Instant UBB Codes and Font Colors
Just click on the box in front of the Add a poll to this post option and then enter the number of questions you want in your poll. Now you can continue and add the question(s) for your poll.
Mary0 -
Thanks Mary! Duh, don't know how I missed that- maybe because I always pick quick reply on the bottom rather then reply to any one post.
Okay, Illinois Gals- here are the two options, June 23rd and June 30th. If you can do both dates, go ahead and vote for both!0 -
kats -
Thanks, I did get through, got some meds to try for two days...hope they work. Thanks again, I completely forgot you had to go to the reply button! I'll get it up soon. Also, I am going to be taking my little niece one of these days for a fairy portrait by a photog. who I think is located near you. I thought you may want to get one of your grand daughter - it is amazing, what he does! Here's the link, I think it costs $100 for 3 8x10's - even if you're not interested, you would truly appreciate his work: click on "gallery" at the top left and then scroll down to "The magic of fairies" - It's awesome!

I loved your story...that is so funny!0 -
I managed to miss Greys anatomy again. Remember it's usually possible to watch it on abc.com! Desperate housewives, too!

Do they push the chemo through faster because of the power ports? My adriamycin, cytoxin and taxotere only takes about 3.5 hours.

We were posting at the same time! I just saw the poll...good job!0 -
Oh,I guess I'm just whining. I do have a port. Maybe 3+ hours isn't that long and I'm just being impatient! I guess because my treatments are now once a week instead of once every 3 weeks like the AC, I feel like I'm there alot. The Benadryl usually makes me doze off anyway:)

I have a power port and my Taxol treatments took 5 hours with the pre-meds (I had dose dense, every 2 weeks). Remember, it's not the port that determines how fast you get the chemo, it's the nurses who set up the rate of drip. My understanding is that giving Taxol too fast can trigger a reaction. I was there when another patient had a Taxol reaction (and it was her 3rd Taxol treatment, not her 1st) and the first thing the nurse did was cut off her chemo, then they restarted her on a slower drip when she recovered. From that time on they gave her Taxol very, very slowly- she was there from 9 am in the morning until 5 pm for her treatments.
The advantages of the power port is that you can also be given contrast solutions for CT, PET, MRI, or Bone scans through the port. They can't do that with the regular port and you would have to get a regular IV. When I recently had a contrast MRI, it was so nice because they gave it to me with the power port. I just had to make sure that they used the right needle- it's different then the ones they use with regular ports. They used the wrong needle when I was in the hospital for my bilateral mast and I was very bruised as a result!0 -
I was actually asking because my friend wondered why we went at 11 and she didnt get done till like 3:30 p.m. They didnt always start right away, carbo taxol treatments.
ACTUALLY WE WENT AT 8 AM AND TIL 330 PM, something like that!0 -
Kater, Thanks about the L-glutamine.
Rita, Hair loss is not fun, and the wig give me a headach. But this too shall pass. Argossy, soon and anyone else who who like to join us would be fun.
Laura, Hope your are on the mend.
Jan Clare, I thought rads were a walk in the park after chemo. Shows how much I do not know. Hope you are better now.
Michele, I also, hope that #2 goes a better for you.
Weather is great! Hugs to all

Good Morning Everyone! Hope you are enjoying your week-end. The weather has been absolutely wonderful. Worked outside all day yesterday in my garden and pulling weeds. Guess its gonna cool off today, but Im just gonna hang out and work on crafts today.
On Friday, I was driving home from work and passed by the Forest Preserve where those men were jumped. It was pretty scary. There were about 15 police cars, a crime investigation van, and lots of television cameras. I have gone walking alone in the same area where this happened. Well I wont be doing that anymore. Sadly, one of the 3 men was killed and another has pretty bad head injuries. sometimes I think this world is just crazy.
Rita: Wow! Done with your fourth week of rads. My goodness, I remember when you first started them. Hoping things continue to go well for you.
LauraGTO: Man, Im sorry you have been sick. My husband was asking about you and I told him you havent been posting much this week - now I understand why. Hoping you are feeling much better, really soon.
Michelle: I had the same chemo you are getting. I forgot about the time spent at the oncs office when getting chemo. I made 26 hats and scarves while sitting in the chemo room. 2 years later, its a distance memory.
Jan: You poll is great. Looks like more are voting for the 30th. Just remember - July 4th is just around the corner from that week-end. It wont really matter for me though, as I am free both days.
Well, I hope you all have a wonderful day.
Nicki0 -
Wow! So many posts that I need to read. I'll catch you all tomorrow and get caught up. I'm off to church and then to Rock Falls for the day.
Have a good Sunday everyone. The poll is great JanClare. I did place my vote!
Rita0 -
Nicki-Thanks, I look forward (as we all do) to this being a distant memory
26 hats/scarves, you were very productive-I just seem to doze off. Do you knit or crochet?
JanClare-Thanks for reminding me re: rate of drip. I had an allergic reaction to the iodine contrast used when I had a CT scan some months ago and it was scary-don't want that again!
Everyone enjoy your Sunday!

Good Morning Ladies!
Wasn't yesterday a beautiful day? Went to my grandnephew's 6th BD party and we took the "Z" and of course the top was down...it was glorious! Little cool today but sun is shining so who cares?!
JanClare....how did Thursday go? Get all your questions answered?
Laura...feeling better?
Rita....can you see the finish line yet? Gosh I wish I were almost done.
The Great Follicular Exodus I believe is ending...last chemo was 5/9 but I have some stubble under my arms and FAST-growing fuzz all over my head. Looks rather white but it is definitely HAIR. Eyebrows and lashes are coming off quickly now so I know that hair there too is starting to wake up...I was lucky that I kept some brows and lashes all the way thru. So those of you who are wondering...yep..it comes back! Yay me! My tastes came back yesterday too so double YAY!
Are we looking at 6/30? And where? And time?
Have a glorious, happy, side-effect free day girls...Hugs!

Oh...I forgot...I don't think that I am stupid whn it comes to computers but HECK!!!!! How do I add a graphic or a picture? I tried and tried with the directions but can't for the life of me figure it out! If someone is sitting around with nothing to do (???) next week, could you either pm me directions or e-mail me, or heck, just post it here...I am sure there must be at least one other Illinois girl besides me who can't figure it out!
Thanks!
Wendy K0 -
Wendy You can use the picture hosting site www.tinypic.com for posting a picture (the picture or graphic needs to be in a file on your computer).
This site does works best for graphics though as there is no option for resizing pictures. You can use that site for picture posting too but most likely you'll have to resize the picture first especially if the picture was taken with a digital camera, if not resized they will show up way to big.
For the tinypic site after you've upload a picture/graphic copy the IMG Code for Forums & Message Boards & then paste in a reply here.
You can also use the site www.photobucket.com . You need to register to use the site (it's free). You upload pictures or graphics to an album you create. To resize a picture click on edit above your upload picture, to copy a picture click on the IMG code then paste in a reply here.

Glad you got into see your doctor, hope the meds are working and you're feeling better.
You mentioned about posting a link to the photographer you're taking your niece to but there's no link posted. I'd like to see his work.
Thanks Mary0 -
Good Morning Ladies....
Thanks Mary...I will paly around with the 2 sites you gave me...Heck, I have a college degree. I SHOULD be able to figure something out that an 8 year old can do. Hey...now that's an idea...anyone got an 8-year old I could borrow?
Hope everyone had a great weekend and feeling great...off to exercise!0 -
Wendy Actually I do have an 8 yr old and she had to show me how to use the DVR....LOL

Good Morning...
Thanks for the well wishes!
Hope you all had a good weekend...I am feeling better. I had to hava a Uterine biopsy on Friday and of course the waiting game sucks...but I'm not crazy worried, just normal worried...remember...the "old" kind of worried... you know...the kind of worried ya got before being dx'd with breast cancer! And, my Hiatal Hernia decided to attack me, so I am back on Prilosec, daily. Although it does work, I hate having to add a med to the 4 different ones I currently take, but hey! what's a girl to do.
kats -
http://admphoto.ifp3.com/iphoto/main2.cfm - if I only had a brain. LOL click on "gallery" at the top left and then scroll down to "The magic of fairies" - It's awesome!

Have a great Monday! Hope it warms up a bit!0 -
Hi ladies!
Gosh you've been busy posting! That's great!
Michele, Well you've got 2 of those T/Herc#2 down now. YEAH! Do you have 2 more to go????
Laura, sure missed you last week and am hoping that you're feeling better.
Kathy, are the Argossy and the Empress the same casino? My new card says Empress on it but for some reason I want to keep calling it the Argossy. The one we go to is in Joliet.
Hey I second Nicki's distant memory! Wow! Won't that be nice when all of this seems distant. Thanks for the encouragment Nicki.
Wendy K....I can finally see the end of the rads. This is week number 5 for me and the last week before we start the boosts. Unfortunately, I may still need to do 2 more chemos since they did the sandwich style treatment with me. I quizzed the radiologist and he said we'd reassess my situation in a few weeks but that there would be about a month vacation between rads and the first of the last two chemos if I have to do them. As you can guess, I'm hoping this is the end, but.................
Also Wendy, if you can't get your picture up, my son (who's alot older than 8) can help you but it will probably have to be next week. He is flying into Cleveland to interview for a new job (same company but advancement position) which would be in Lexington, KY this week and then driving to Illinois for a Memorial Service for his other grandmother who died three weeks after my Mom. He's helped me and a few of the other gals get their pics up and working and doesn't ever mind. So if all else fails, he'll help you next week, I'm sure.
Hope that anyone who's having chemo this week does well. JanClare, please let us know what you found out last week. We're very interested in how things worked out for you.
Well, I'm off to get my hair colored today so I need to get moving.
Have a great day ladies! The sun is out!!!!
Rita0 -
Good morning ladies! I hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the nice spring weather.
I haven't posted in a week or so because I was just feeling down and felt like I needed to take a break and go into denial for awhile. It seems like there was always some milestone that was occupying my mind in the beginning - surgery, then starting chemo, then the hair loss. After all that was over, all I could think about was the long haul ahead of me and it was depressing. Right now I am concentrating on finishing the AC part of chemo - I go weekly and have 5 down - 10 more to go. 10 weeks just seems so long!! I feel crummy on the weekend so when the weekend hits it's hard to remember that I will feel like a human again on Monday. I started to perk up last night and now feel better emotionally. We have a busy summer planned (we have a lake house in MI) so I'm hoping that will help pass the time!
On another subject, I can't get my picture posted either. I was continually told it was too large and I couldn't figure out how to make it smaller. I tried the photobucket site yesterday and sized it down, but it still didn't work. I didn't get an error this time, but it just showed up as a box with a little tiny red X in it. I finally gave up! If anyone has any other suggestions, that would be great!
Have a great day everyone!0 -
Connie Are you trying to post a picture in a reply or post an avatar, picture by your name?
I don't think you can use photobucket for posting an avatar. If that's what you're trying to do try this site http://www.resize2mail.com/ to resize and crop and then save it to your computer and try posting.
