Hi gals.....We've got a gray day here, too and I've been hiding inside with my computer and my sore nose!  LOL

Wendy TY, If your surgery is on schedule, you're the center of attraction right now in the OR.  I'm thinking of you and praying for an easy, successful surgery with wonderful results.

Wendy, thanks for asking about this vicious infection.  I'm doing better.  My poor nose is now a mass of scabs but most of the burning has stopped.  I'm still pretty tired all the time and I can't get that post-nasal drip to stop so I'm still clearing my throat and sounding pretty pathetic.

Gosh...you gals are expecting MORE snow????  Where will you put it all?   I can certainly see why some of you are getting tired of winter already.  Now Juliet and I......we were tired of it a LONG time ago!  :-)  The temps are expected to drop to extreme lows here during the next few days.

Hey Ginny......where you been?   And how abaout you, Brenda R?  It's not fair to pop back in and then disappear on us again.

I hope everyone has a good day.  Hugs to all of you!

    Hello Everyone!

I just got sprung from the hospital about 2 hours ago!  Boy, am I glad to be home!  I took a nice long shower, and put on clean jammies.  So I feel a bit better...the official dx is cellulitis.  Not to be confused with cellulite!  I will now be getting Neulasta after each treatment.  I did get Neupogen in the hospital, and got the shot in my belly.  It wasn't too bad.  I'm not sure which of you ladies gave me this advice, but...When onco told me to head for the ER, Jim pulled the car up to the door, and then went in and told the desk that "My girlfriend is a cancer pt. and her WBC was 1.3 yesterday." (Yeah, it was that low)  "You will need to provide a private closed off area to treat and examine her."  I was treated like a queen the whole stay!

I was skimming through some your posts, and there is so much bad news...along with some good, but the bad news is just terrible!  {{{Hugs}}} to all!

Rita - Have you tried a Neti Pot?  that may help with your post nasal drip.  They have them at Walgreens.

WendyTK -  thinking of you!  get well soon!

Juliet - Go on ahead and swear!  Lots of stuff to swear at these days!

Jan - Wierd to say it, but your husband is "lucky"  How scary is that?!  That is the biggest reason I hate to drive in the winter.

Blackjack, - As you can imagine, no sewing or anything else got done.  Not sure about Wednesday now, but I'm going to try.

Well, I'm going to rest a bit.  I'll check in tomorrow!

Carol - welcome home!! So glad you are doing better.  And cheers to DH for thinking on his feet & getting you the Queen Treatment, which you so rightly deserved!!

Rita honey - Yep, everyone is now jumping onto our ICK wagon for winter!!! We've got 3-6" coming tonight, and then Tom Skillethead said another "major accumulation" on Wednesday.   Bring on the sled dogs!!!

    Hi:

Yes, we have encountered some sadness here.  I am sad for your DH, Julie, and your precious children, upon the death of his father and their grandfather.  Your husband has also endured a great deal. He sounds like a wonderful man, and I am so sorry his father died.

Carol, welcome back.  You sound strong.

Rita, I hope you are feeling better.  I am, but I am still on azithromycin.

I have that Bone Density test on Thursday along with my thyroid thing.  The bone density should be interesting.  Track with this.  I was placed on hormone replacement in my forties as my mom had osteoporosis and had two broken hips by her early 70s.   I went off hormone replacement in my 50s because of the scare that it caused BC.  I got BC at 58.  I am now on arimidex and that causes bone loss and so I could end up with osteoporosis.  I think what I am trying to say is that we really do not know all that much about women's health and the last 40 years has just been guesswork on best practice.

But I will let you know what I found out about my bones.  My baseline, two years ago, was okay.

It is kinda cool in that you can learn from it and make a hypothesis so you can talk to younger women about it (like my own two young adult daughters and my teacher colleagues).

So Susan, did you have school today or did you have to get out in this stuff?  I am asking for a bone density test in March when I see the onc, too.  My baseline was also good so I'm interested in seeing what the Arimidex has done.......hopefully nothing.

Carol...so glad you are home and able to post.  I have not heard of the NetiPot but am going into town tomorrow and will drop by Walgreen's and give it a try.  I am ready to try anything!

Juliet..I think we should seriously consider a different location for winter.  Poor Buster will get lost in all that snow that's coming your way!  LOL

News flash!!!!   Wendy TY's dear hubby called me to say that her surgery went well.  She has a small incision and is home, ready to quickly recover and get back with her life.  YEA!!!  The plastic surgeon was pleased with the job!

Well, travel safely, gals and try to stay warm.  It looks like we're in for some REALLY cold weather over the next few days.

HI Girls..Are you lovin all this snow...more on the way they say...I just got home from driving in it and the roads are pretty slippery. I would have stayed home except I had a family coming to the  Clothes Closet.. which they desperately needed warm clothes. I am sooo happy that they all got to pick out clothes 10 bags of goodies. So driving in this stuff was worth it. As far as the lunch bunch goes I think we should post pone it until the weather is better...maybe spring lol I rather have you all safe at home instead of driving in this snowy weather.

Carol...welcome home and glad to hear that the you received QUEEEN TX. Rest and get better. As far as the project goes rest until you feel better and then you will have something to look forward to doing.

Julieb...my deepest sympathy to you and your family on the death of your FIL.

Rita... I hope you are feeling better really soon..you poor thing your nose needs some TLC

Juilet...how are you doing honey..are you feeling any better. Did you want to try mall walking.

Wendyty..glad to hear that your surgery went well and you are home resting...healing hugs to you.

Susan.. hope you are feeling better too.

Jackie...any news on your test results.

Wendy..did you get that snowblower fixed yet..you may need it lol

Well its jammie and tea time for me... hoping for a snow day tomorrow but I don't think so.

I would love to play outside now and make snow angels but its a bit too cold outside now.

Stay warm and healthy...and be careful driving outside....

OK...I am officially tired of winter.  I am tired of the cold, the snow, the ice, a village who either dumps snow in my driveway or doesn't bother to plow...period..in the subdivisions.  I have no idea what I am going to do the next 5 days with the Z...I can't drive it right now as the streets leading to a clear road are sheets of ice and the 4WD's are sliding, but if I don't start it, it will be dead by the weekend.  This just sux.

Blackjack...thanks for suggesting we postphone the lunch.  Just too risky on these roads.  You are so sweet to donate all those clothes.  How did the closet come out?  My goal for tomorrow is to take everything out of the closet and then maybe rearrange the space.

Rita....I hope your nose gets back to normal soon!  I too have heard of the neti pots...warm saline that you snuff up your nose and then spit out.  Sounds yucky but it gets rid of a lot of junk!

WendyTY...glad your surgery was so uneventful.  YAY!!!!

Carol..hope you continue to improve.  What's this project that Blackjack has you doing?  I need a project....

    Jackie...still no snow by you???

Julieb...how's things at home?  How's DH doing?  It's so hard...my DH still misses his Dad so much and it has been 3 years and he was 93, with severe dementia.  Give him an extra hug for us, OK?

RE:  bone density testing...my onc (who I see today, or is that "whom"???) said he does it 2 years after beginning arimidex IF no family hx, no initial dx or if one leads a sedentary/unhealthy lifestyle.  BUT....I get the little newsletter from Delnor Hosp and they are offering free heel scans for osteo in March and I am gonna ask him today at my appt if this is worth my taking.  Free is Free, after all!

Juliet....hope you have found a snowplowed road out of "poopyland".

Laura...did DH get the blower fixed?  He must have if you got out to the Y...

Time to get moving....I am gonna look for an exercise program on Comcast rather than venturing out as my doc appt is fairly early.  Please be careful out there....roads still are icy esp. on bridges/overpasses etc.

    Good morniing ladies.....

Hey what's that outside ? That bright orangey-yellow thing ?  And that other color ?  OMG - it's blue sky.. and SUN!!    Yeah I know, I'm being a drama queen.     Blizzard warning cancelled for today - but sounds like tomorrow is going to be bad.

Blackjack - Good idea to cancel lunch bunch!!!

Rita - thanks for the update on WendyTY.  So glad to hear things went well.

WendyK - You go girl....vent about the weather!!!  Sounds like your village is not keeping up on the snow removal/salting. I've noticed that many towns are not doing too well with it.   It's so frustrating and limiting, isn't it ?

I can't really vent to DH about it much.. he "loves the seasons" & never ever complains about the winter....  and he can't understand why I hate it.   And he said to me - very calmly - that I need to learn to accept it, because this is where we live.   Sigh.  I guess that means I'm not going to be able to trick him into moving to California anytime soon.  Cool

Time to do some laundry, browse the jobs online, and then it's off for my first Onco f/u visit.

Stay warm & safe - Juliet

    Good Morning everyone,

We have some nice sun here ( sure hopes it stays ) and only cold to contend with right now  While feeding the dogs outside there were these truly minuscule snow flakes coming very in-consistently.  Zero or close to it the next few nights.  I just noticed a few stray larger snowflakes outside --  nothing that could even accumulate though.  We are fortunate that way.  It's at these times that I am glad my ancestors/family chose southern Illinois.  Still, it feels odd to have had virtually no snow for the amt. of cold weather we have had.

I heard from the V.A./Mt. Vernon office this a.m.  They claim they don't have my results so will have to COME BY them however they do that.  Obviously someone was asleep at the wheel the day they came in......but as the V.A. computerizes all their records one wonders.......  who knows, but I think someone will now ( hopefully ) take on this responsibility.  I'd like to move past this phase I have been in for a month and go forward.

Blackjack -- you are brave to have gone out but I think so was the family who needed the clothing.  Good causes and need help our stamina and resolve get us through the way less than adequate situations.  Now every time that family feels warm and comfy they will see your face in their mind.  These are things that make such a difference in someones life....how great you made it happen.

I would make snow angels if there were any snow.....but I'm starting to think we will not get enough -- if ANY at all this year.  We did have as freak storm in April one year.   Was one of those really beautiful snows.....the big fat flakes that just kept coming all day long and are so white and fluffy.  Was about 14 or 15 inches at the finish....some time slightly after dark I think....anyway, the next day it was rapidly melting and in a couple days you could barely tell we had snow.  That's the nice way to have a big snow --- comes and is so enjoyable but then leaves before all the snow dirties or ends up in a huge pile somewhere in the shopping center parking area.

I am feeling so lazy as I'm yet to even start any exercises and when I listen to all of you I feel like such a slacker.  Wonder why it's so hard to do what we know is so good for us ---  well, maybe if I keep THINKING this way I'll accidentally get with it and not stop.

Hope you all have a good day....WendyTY....great news about you.  Rita & Susan.  Laura, hope you are 'getting there', and Juliet, Jules, tdbear, Brenda, Samedaynurse/Jan, Julie/Chicago,Connie,Kater,Carolberrypatch,Mich,Smerf and well, just all of you.

Juliet -- we were posting same time and after reading yours I had a thought....I wonder if the not getting the roads done very soon etc. has anything to do with funds.  This past summer the interstate was only mowed a couple of times.....very, very late in the season and they quit removing ( totally and completely disgusting ) animals hit by vehicles from the side of the roads.  I was given to understand it was a monetary response to our hard times...sigh!!!!  So, I am thinking maybe salt, snow plowing and other things are iffy now.  Our little city seems to doing ok...but we are so small.

    Anyway---just a thought.

Just a quick note to let you all know that the surgery went great yesterday.  I'm home resting comfortably.  No pain so far!  From what I can see, my boob looks good.  I was surprised that I was not all wrapped up.  Only a small bandage covered by clear wrap.  Amazing.

I'll catch up on posts in a couple more days.

    Take care.

    Hi all -

Glad to hear most of you are on the mend from surgery, treatments and viruses.  Wow - Rita/Susan, you really did get a nasty bug!

I agree about this weather.  I don't mind snow that much, but when it gets bitter cold, then I start getting mad.  But yes, we do live in Chicago so we should probably get used to it.  Hopefully, this winter will not be a repeat of last years when it just went on and on and on.

Sorry to hear about Julie's fil and Kater's uncle.  It sure does seem like we have had a rash of bad news around here.  I hope everyone is doing ok.

I almost hate to say this but, a couple of months ago, I received an achievement award at work. The "prize" is a trip to St. Thomas for me and DH and the other 15 winners.  We leave next Saturday (24th).  I feel bad for you guys, but I am out of here!

    Enjoy the sun girls!

    Good afternoon, ladies. :)

Well it looks like our predicted "blizzard" didn't actually happen.  Good, I'm fine with the amount of snow coverage that we already have.  I do dread the intensely cold temps they are calling for this week though.

Driving on 53 yesterday to work was the first time in almost 25 years of driving that route that I lost control of the car and truly thought I was going to crash.  The black ice was absolutely treacherous and people were spinning out left and right.  I'm usually a very confident driver, but that was kind of terrifying - my heart was pounding by the time I regained control of the car!

NurseJan - I am so sorry about your husband's accident.  How scary for all of you, and thank goodness for him escaping more serious injury!

Juliechicago - Condolences on your FIL.  Tough enough with your husband dealing with the loss of his father, but having to tell the kids must be so sad.  How are you feeling with your post-op recovery?  I'm getting a little antsy about going under the knife again next month, but I also just want to get it over with.

Speaking of mammo's - Count me as one of those whose tumor was completely unseen on mammography.  Even after they knew it was there, they still couldn't locate it on my mammo films - and it was over 2 cm!  MRI showed it clear as a bell though - which is why I also alternate the two.  This last time though, I did the BSGI along with my mammo, and that did give me a bit of extra assurance.   Still, MRI is more of a security blanket for me and I won't be giving that up anytime soon.

I have a slight issue right now with a weird, burning, pulling kind of pain in the RUQ of my mast (right) side.  What's freaking me out is that it's right where my original tumor was.  My original tumor was found because it was giving me dull pains (even though they say tumors don't cause pain - go figure, mine did).  BUT, since I've had a mast on that side, they don't do a mammo there, and they didnt' read the BSGI for that side.  So, I guess I wait for my next MRI to see what's happening.  My surgeon did sono the area and didn't see anything - so I wonder if maybe there's just some post-surgical adhesion/scarring issues there?  It's been 3 years though...

I'm swamped with working on costumes and other stuff for my daughter's h.s. dance competition season.  Their first comp. is this weekend!  It's her last year, so I'm trying to enjoy it, and I'm trying to not feel too guilty for not having all my Christmas decorations (tree included) put away yet!

It'll all get done.. eventually, right?  Tongue out

My baby did turn 18 yesterday.  I just don't know where the time went.  It's so disconcerting how it keeps speeding up.

I wish I could join you ladies for the luncheon tomorrow.  Weds. are a half-day for me at work, but I know my schedule tomorrow is very full with several add-ins to it.  I doubt I'll get out of there until 1:00 or so, so I'd never make it in time.   Hopefully, next time. *sigh*

Rene, I get funny pains too in the breast, and frankly everywhere!  Today my knee hurts.   I have been getting them on and off and nothing ever shows up.  I think maybe it takes a very long time, even three years, to totally go back to normal.  Also, I know I am hypersensitive to any pain, any mark, any whatever.  I am sure I actually was just unconscious of sensations prior to the BC, where as now I am so sensitive to any twinge.  My guideline is 3weeks and then to the doctor.  It used to be 2 week wait, but I find that it takes longer to heal.  I actually mark it in the calendar.  If you have the pain for more than 3 weeks, I think you should check it out...and not wait for the routine mammogram. I am like you, the mri is my safety blanket.  I hate it, but I trust it.  I know it gives false positives (I think I have that right), but I am okay with that, given technology let me down big time with mammograms and ultrasounds.

Well...I was supposed to be at Western Univ yesterday emptying my niece's dorm room w/her dad...my bro. BUT...we were unable to get the key from her mom... and were reluctant to drive 4 hours and try to have someone let us in... I guess it's still a ghost town there from the holiday vacation... I think we'll be leaving on Thursday. Yikes...

JulieB - So sorry about FIL... hang in there.

Carol - So happy you were released! Take care and be well. Hopefully going forward things will be easier and more successful... fingers crossed!

WendyTY - You "sound" good... don't over do it.

Irene and Susan - I am 3 yrs post mast... I still get awful twisting pains at the mast site and also where they took 11 lymph nodes. It's really scary... every time it happens. But I have been told over and over again, that it's tissue regenerating. Hope so... but there's no way that I am 100% believing of that.

Juliet and Jackie - The reason the roads didn't get repaired this summer was because of the high price of oil. The tar that they use has a lot of oil in it...

CONNIE - OMG - that's awesome... you are one lucky gal! Yeah you!

Wendrew - dh just picked up the part for the snowblower... he's coming home early to put it all back together. Just in time for tomorrow's blizzard!

Wow Connie!  What a nice trip!  Go....enjoy....come back....work hard again.....earn another trip!  LOL  Super award!

Hey Susan....I have those same strange pains.  They come and they go.  They move from one place in my body to the next.  Like you, I zero in on all the pains right now.  I keep telling myself that they just come with age!

My cold is still here but I'm back in the land of the moving now.  I bowled today and made it through O.K. so maybe I'm getting closer to the end of this.  Now....my poor nose needs to heal.

I hope you gals don't get alot more snow up there and Jackie I do hope you get a good dusting so that you can say that you had some snow this year!  LOL

Well, I need to plan my lesson for the youth group for tomorrow night so I'd better get moving.

    Catch you all tomorrow.

    A question for you ladies:

Jim and I were talking at supper tonight, and it has been determined by us that I have not really been well since my port was put in.  For example, all I have wanted to do for the past 2 weeks is lay around.  I got the "shivers" a few hours ago, and my temp was 99.8.  That is just 6/10's of a degree from being in the hospital again.  I don't feel like eating, or getting off the sofa, and now this has been for 2 weeks.  I had IV Vancomycin and Zofran for 4 days.  I had Levaquin orally in the hospital, and now I am taking Keflex 500mg TID.  WTF????  (Sorry, but it's a swear situation!)  Do you guys think that this may be a hospital acquired infection from the port insertion?  Nothing "bad" showed up in blood cultures, at least that I was made aware of.  I plan to call onco tomorrow, but I know that some of you are nurses.  Tell me what you think.  I also plan to start a new topic on the board and see if anyone else has had this problem.

Thanks in advance for any input you may have!

      This is me ....

I WISH this was me.....but it will be Connie and Rita soon...you lucky dogs!

Carol....it sounds like they are doing everything they can for your cellulitis but chemo whacks your immune system (and certainly YOURS) that anything can and does happen.  Def. call your onc's office and see what they say.  Scary stuff tho...but I am sure Blackjack and Smerf and Nurse Jan will have more insight than me...they spent years in the hospital setting!

Laura...DH get blower up and running?  Sounds like Nicole didn't like Western!  I know she was very homesick at first....

Blackjack...good thing you canceled, snowing like crazy right now...

Rita...glad you are feeling better!  How's the nose looking?

Rene...count me in for the pain, pulling sensation...mine I attribute to rads.  I reach for something and I actually yelp...pull my arm back and try again and it's gone.  Inflammation of the "rib meat" I was told...costochondritis.  Did you have rads?  I don't remember....

WendyTY....things still going well I hope!

Karin, JanClare, Elfsong....hope you are okay!

Connie....I just recently bought Koontz' new book...I think he has joined S. King!  I was pretty good until it got to nearer the end, then just stupid!  I think it's "Your Heart Belongs to Me"...I will give it to you next time I see you, if you  read Koontz but truthfully...not really worth your time.  How are your appts going?  Mine went good altho PCP says thyroid fine and no change in meds, onc says creeping up and I need a change in meds maybe....great...now I need to get between two docs!  But...I researched it and my onc is right...I might need more synthroid!  Now to make that call!!!!

Oh well....rest of my tests were good.  Next mamm will be bad boob side in March, heel scanning for osteo 3/13, rads onc 4/1, bil mamm in Sept along with next onc/rad onc appt...DO THESE FRICKIN DOC APPTS EVER STOP?????????  Yikes....

Oh well...again...nuf of my complaining...but I do remember the good ole days when I saw the doctor once a year!  Guess those days are gone, gone, gone!

Have a great day and please be careful out there...looks pretty icy/snowy.  Hugs!

Morning girls....Looks like the beach is open and the sun is shining bright. It is going to be a hot one. lo lol  As I was looking out the window watching all that snow coming down it reminded me of the indoor beach party I had for my kids when they were little. I cranked up the heat, filled up the pool with water and had a picnic lunch in the basement. We laughed and played all day as the snow was coming down outside. So time to think beach weather....thanks Wendy for our morning  beach pic.

Well lunch bunch is cancelled today..so stay warm inside and time to cuddle up with that good book.

Connie..so glad you won that trip as you so deserve to go some place warm. You will love St. Maarten and they have great shopping down there. Check out Joe's Jewelry down there on St. Philips street. On the beach is a great restaurant called Everything Cool..it is a fun place on the water..

Carol..do call your onc today as your low blood count maybe causing this.Need to rest.

Laura....no Western road trip...not today I hope. Did you get your snow blower fixed. You may need it  today. lol

Rita..how are you feeling.. better. Just think Florida is calling you...hot sun and beach weather.

Jackie..no snow lucky for you. If you do like snow I will send you some of mine. lol Please keep on top of your mds for your reports.

Jan....how are you and your dh doing. Is he feeling better.

Wendyty...glad to see that your are resting and recovering. No pain that is a good sign.

Juliet....think warm weather and sun girl. How were your md appts.

To everyone in tx I hope you are doing well. Sending you big healing hugs your way. To everyone else I hope you have a great day..stay warm inside and think hot beach weather. lol You know it is right around the corner..so let the snow be gone fairies come out and do their thing.

    Remember to be healthy...be happy

Let a child run his/her fingers through it once a day.
    For poise,
Walk with the knowledge that you never walk alone.
    People, even more than things,
Have to be restored, renewed, revived, reclaimed,
And redeemed; never throw out anyone.
Remember, if you ever need a helping hand,
You will find one at the end of each of your arms.
    As you grow older, you will discover that you have two hands;
One for helping yourself, and the other for helping others.

Good Wednesday morning --- a little gray but I'm more concerned with the cold front moving in later on today.  Oohhhh, it's going to have un-believable wind chills....10 to 20 below if I heard correctly.  I'm already hating it and it's not even here.....what a weanie I am.  And I've done so well with the cold so far....don't know wny I'm letting myself get intimidated now.

I didn't know what cellulitis was so looked it up.....Carol, wish you didn't have it ---  but then it could be in general easier to deal with than lots of other things...sigh !!!!!  You never quite win, huh !!!!  Just take your meds and rest.  My cure for nearly anything is as much water as you can stand --  I feel like it washes out our system and I need to get back to drinking more of it.

Will be making a couple calls and hoping to get at least one today.....not crossing any fingers though.  I need to get into Marion and have my GYN appt.  It is always something...

Hope you all have a fantastic day.  Be careful and safe if you have to go out.  Talk to ya'll later.

    Good morning to all,

Wow! My backyard is like a winter wonderland, and so beautiful! Not so great, my outside furnace, servicing an addition we did about 30 years ago, went out Sunday night. So, yesterday I was out there shoveling a ton of snow from around it so that the furnace guy can get to it. The up side was that I actually enjoyed the timout there. The snow is so white and pristine, and deer are walking around....not too fast in such deep snow. It's about two feet deep in many spots. Jackie, there is really a huge difference in the weather between our homes!

Anyway, I do understand that many of you are not loving this weather, but for some reason I am enjoying it. We have been getting up early, because it just happens as luck would have it, DH has had a number of 7:15 surgeries scheduled lately. He gets up early to clean the driveway, and to have lots of time to get into the city. I realize I might not be loving this if I had to get to work in the morning. Retirement has to have a few advantages!

Blackjack, I will miss you all today, but it was the right thing to cancel our lunch bunch. Safety and common sense rule!

Connie...enjoy your trip guilt free. You earned it, girl!

Laura..I'm so sorry about your friend and the loss of his wife. Scary stuff, and I think it's that kind of thing that causes me to find something to enjoy each day, including the weather. Life's too short!

Rita, I'm so glad you are on the mend. Sinus infections can be really stubborn, and make you feel awful. I've been having them for years, and the cause seems to be allergies for me. Luckily, none since chemo.

WendyTY...So happy to hear you are recovering well. Rest, and stay warm.

Jan....How scary! I'm glad your DH is recovering, and wasn't he smart to marry a nurse? At least, that's what my husband always says when I'm taking care of him.

Juliet..how are you doing? Spring will come, and all this snow will be moisture for spring flowers! Take control, you know that always makes us feel better!

JulieChicago....I'm so sorry to hear about your FIL. Telling the kids must have been so difficult, especially when they are a little young to understand. My condolences to you, DH, and family.

    Talk to you all later!

Connie - LOL, you are funny!! Congrats on the trip.  You will have such a great time - you deserve it.

Rene - so glad you are okay & didn't get into an accident.

Rita - glad to hear you are feeling a bit better.  Perhaps bowling is part of the cure :)

Carol - I agree with others, call your onco. Hope you can feel better asap.

Pat - can I come watch the deer (love how I invite myself, haha)? What a lovely scene, it sounds like.  DH often drives me around the nearby forest preserves seeking out deer to cheer me up!

Hello & hugs to all of you other lovely ladies!! LauraGTO, Jackie, Susan, WendyK, Blackjack - and everyone else.

Saw onco yesterday - he gave me a physical exam & felt nothing out of the ordinary (YAY!)  My thyroid came back normal, and he gave me an RX for a low dose of Effexor.  Of course I'll have to research it for 10 years before I am not chicken to take it...  but yeah, I'll give it a try & see if helps.    Tomorrow is PS!!     Guess I got lucky - my appointments landed on non-snow days.

Dangerous cold weather on the way, so please everyone stay warm, and especially drive carefully!!!

    Hugs, Juliet

Hi Ladies...just checking in from frigid harmon, IL.  We live in the country and I coudln't believe how high the drifts were this morning.  At least it's light and fluffy and easy to drive through.

I can't wait to get home tonight and stay there!

Hubby and I have our 5th anniversary Saturday (that's us in my new avatar).  We're thinking of doing a movie and dinner...wow, a real date!  Hope the weather holds out.

    Hugs,

    Susan

Finally got back to *our place here* to catch up on all I've missed.....DH is finally doing much better....his head is clearing up and his speech is back to normal, still has headaches and some fatigue but I suppose getting hit in the head with a chunk of cast iron will do that to you.....we are still talking about how grateful and *lucky* we both feel, even though I am lately not a fan of the word *lucky* you know like when everyone tells you how lucky you are and you just want to say there isnt anything lucky bout cancer....anyways.....:)

Carol.....I have worked with and do work with a lot of ports.....and I dont want to say anything to steer you in any wrong direction because I know how careful you have to be about infection but usually even with a port there would be some external sign of infection at the site of the port.....it sounds like you have been on a ton of antibiotics and of course sometimes that is necessary but not good....it sounds to me like you really need to check in at least with your Onc.'s nurse.

Pat.....yes yes they (DH's) really do think they are lucky to be married to nurses dont they.....my DH had a severe work related accident a few years ago and I nursed him through 8 surgeries and went back to work full time because he couldnt, I will say, that during my *nightmare month* he took care of me like I was made of glass, so I guess he really did appreciate it all.

Laura....I found you on Facebook, my son said I should give it a try *L* it may be a little bit over my head.

Thinking of all of you , wishing only good things........I have my bone scan next week, and I DONT WANT TO DO IT.....just whack me upside the head I know I have to, I just want to be done with tests and needles for a little bit of time......when it comes back negative then I should have several months without invasive medicine !

Hi. Just stopping in to say hi to all. Julie B so sorry to hear about your fil. My thoughts are with you and your family.

It is incredibly cold here in Chicago - and I am so sick of the snow.

I have good news. I finished radiation last week.  I had some burns but all in all I am doing great. I am so relieved to be doing better. I am taking Tamoxifen right now and whatever shot I have to take every 3 months. No idea what it is right now?  Anyway done with chemo, surgery, and radiation. I am too chicken to consider reconstruction at this point - maybe later in the year or maybe never. Anyway I wanted to share - everyday I have more energy which is fantastic. I have to lose some weight and get in better shape but at least I have the big ones out of the way.
