Great pic!
Happy mom's day to all the moms. I'll be celebrating at Arlington Race Track tomorrow. Fun! I haven't been in many years.

Have fun at the track, Adey. I am going in June for the Belmont. It is my annual get together with a couple high school girlfriends. We always do a race weekend..... Kentucky Derby, Preakness or Belmont. It is my turn to host this year so I got exec box seats at Arlington. I haven't been there in about 30 years and am so excited to go. I think I will get hats for all of us. Let me know how it goes.
I am wasting away the whole day. Finally have talked myself into getting out to plant all the flowers I bought this week. Happy Mothers Day everyone.0 -
Rita ~ The drive is 5 hours. Sometimes I combine it with a trip through your town. I work for a big employer there, but I office in little Lawrence county, IL. I have always enjoyed visiting the city and went to Northwestern for the reputation and skills Dr. K has for the bilateral lat flap advanced that I needed. It's worth the drive.
I would be happy to drive again if I could meet more of you and I can work it into my schedule. I need a major shopping excursion and my Mom would like to try to come with me for a city jaunt.0 -
Invisible: You may benefit from roomy pants with pockets to put the drains. I got an infection, so was paranoid about cleanliness. Thus, DH did laundry daily so I had a clean bath towel, clean clothes and alternated between only 3 outfits which all had pockets in pants and front opening tops. I got 2 Amona camomiles at Nordstrom in their mastectomy dept and my BC ins covered them. I highly recommend them. Although I did do reconstruction, it was useful while going through expansion as well as immediately after surg. Also, have a supply of hand sanitizer. Expect fatigue, but if your prone to insomnia, you may still have trouble sleeping. Plus, of course, all that Lago said-nausea for me too, constipation, anxiety, some helplessness due to restriction in arm movements-but it gets way better in a few weeks. Also, maybe get some upbeat movies or books (or whatever YOU would like) for your recovery time.

Happy Birthday Smerf!!!!! CELEBRATE!!!!
BJ...The countdown is on! When I taught, one of the teachers hung a paper link chain outside his door showing the number of remaining school days. Each day one of the kids tore off a link. They loved it! How I remember counting down the days!

Happy Birthday Smerf!
Making my first trip since dx, three days in Baltimore. My only concern is getting my bag in the over head compartment-shoulders still not working... Luckily, I'm fliying Southwest and the flight attendants are much more helpful than United or American.
"See" you Friday. Have a glorious week.

Happy Birthday Smurf! And a belated Happy Mother's Day to all mom's! I didn't get on the computer much this weekend. I had my re-excision on Friday and just didn't feel like turning the computer on Saturday and was out of the house most of the day yesterday.
Love the picture from the lunch! What a beautiful picture and beautiful smiles! I wish I could have been there instead of in surgery. I had to fast again from Thursday at midnight until surgery and they didn't get me in until after 2pm. I was actually light headed from not eating or drinking and had a headache from no caffiene and getting quite crabby by the time the surgeon stuck his head in at 1pm to announce that they would be taking me down. The surgery was supposed to happen at 12:30 but we have to live with when they get to us I guess. I'm usually quite patient but after the last few months seem to tolerate needles and delays less and less patiently.
I'm back to work today....part-time (up to 32 hours) until after these appointments and other procedures slow a bit. This is a good week to return because the big boss is out of the office and others are traveling and it is very quiet. I have an appointment with the surgeon tomorrow morning (depending on if the pathology report is back from Friday) and then the surgeon was hoping to get the radiation catheter placed on Thursday to begin radiation treatments on Monday May 21.....to be determined pending pathology report. I'm feeling good....not great but good and I'm sure I will feel better once I get a few days down and can get back on my normal schedule. I'm really missing my work-outs but I'm afraid to do more than walk and my hubby is paranoid about germs in the gym so I guess I will wait until everything is healed back up.
Hope everyone has a great day! It is looking like a beautiful day out there!

Arlington was fun, fun, fun.
My radiation onc set me free today! Oddly, kind of sad. I like her so much. I told her once all my reconstruction is done and healed I'd come get nekkid for her. (c: If anyone needs an awesome rad onc let me know. Actually, my medical and gyn oncs are great too. Anyhoo...
I should get my endo biopsy results tomorrow and I start the ESD today!
Fan-freakin-tastic weather! Hugs to all.

Thank you for the encouraging words about Hansen and Kim. I'm hoping for two DIEPs, but I'm betting I end up with at least one TRAM. I know there's no way to tell until he sees what he has to work with, but I really would rather not lose any abdominal muscle. I'm concerned that with the time crunch of two reconstructions, he won't spend as much time chasing the perforators as he would with just one.

Lago: the problem is that Rush lost all of its micro plastic surgeons. Witt said he used to work with PSs who did tissue reconstruction, but they've all left. I didn't get into the politics or finances of it. I really liked his style, but I don't want to deal with the maintenance of implants.

Lynn- I am happy to have cancelled my implant reconstruction and done flaps. Although I know many that are very happy with their implants. Good luck to you.

Happy Birthday, Smerf! And many more.
Valerie... sounds like things are moving along for you. I am sure that it feels good to get back to work and have some sense of "back to my old life" feeling. Just take it easy. And Spunky... back on the travel circuit. Hope it all goes well this week.
Lynn, Dr K will figure something out. He is a real pro. He did my lat flap and I am very happy with it, well, except that this darn drain is still here after nearly 5 weeks! I have not noticed any loss of strength on that side, but I haven't picked up a tennis racket yet. My back incision is healing very nicely too. I'd even be willing to go back and have my implant on the other side revised with a lat flap. Right now, I figure I have one hard, chilly implanted boob and one warm, soft boob. Hmmmm. This reconstruction business is so darn complicated.
Welcome, Doing. Hope that you are healing well from BMX. There are plenty of us here that have been through it. Feel free to lean on us. You will get started on the next plan of action with your MO soon. Let the recovery begin!

Joan- Are you drainless?!

Adey...NO! Darnit! How long did you have yours?

Boo! After stage one I had them for 2 months! After stage two I had them for 1 month. Phsssstt. They are useful but annoying! Fingers crossed for removal soon. (c:
