Checking in to say hi and catch up on 4 pages of chat, chat, chat. I do get the emails so try to keep up with all of you that way. Yes, the fundraising seems to be going great and my DH and I are looking forward to the walk next Saturday. I keep watching the weather forecast and right now, it looks like it will be dry. Yes!
I have about 8 more weeks of PT for my back and having been pressing hard to get back in action. I am back to walking 3 miles and MDG... I am averaging 18.8 MPH. Am I going to keep up with you? My DH is much taller than I am and his long legs and big feet have an advantage over me. I have always had to nearly jog to keep up with him.
I went to the "Pink Ribbon Yoga Class" at my health club today. This is an hour Yoga class just for breast cancer survivors. I think that I was the oldest in the class, but was interesting to meet the other ladies, some of whom were just recovering from final chemo treatments. I showed up early to meet the instructor and let her know my limitations after back surgery. She was great at offering optional poses for me when she knew I couldn't do some of the usual Yoga poses. I am looking forward to going back. I am also working out in the therapy pool a few times a week and am really enjoying that.
Lago, we are planning to join you for lunch on Saturday after the walk. I will have to take a look at the website. I am sure that it will be good.
I am thinking of all of you and looking forward to meeting some new faces at the party next month.

Have you ladies heard of the "Army of Women" initiative? Here is a link: http://www.armyofwomen.org/
The Dr. Susan Love Research Foundation's Love/Avon Army of Women is made possible thanks to a grant from the Avon Foundation for women.
Our revolutionary initiative has two key goals:
- To recruit one million healthy women of every age and ethnicity, including breast cancer survivors and women at high-risk for the disease, to partner with breast cancer researchers and directly participate in the research that will eradicate breast cancer once and for all.
- To challenge the scientific community to expand its current focus to include breast cancer prevention research conducted on healthy women.

Joan - that is great about the yoga class. I started with a yoga class at the Living Well Center here by me and that got me hooked. Now I take a weekly class at my health club and would love to fit in a second class each week. You will keep up - I am there to HAVE FUN with you gals and not torture anyone....I promise!
Hope everyone is enjoying the fall colors. I am sitting here looking out my back window enjoying all the orange trees! So pretty.
Oh and a newsflash....shortly after returning from vacation we will be picking up our new little girl! We are getting a border collie puppy. She is only 4 weeks old now....so adorable! I can't wait to get her! I will have to post a photo when we get her. It will be fun to have a puppy again. We lost our last border collie about 3 years ago to cancer. It has taken me some time to get ready to welcome another dog into our home. We are so excited about the "baby"!

Morning....Fall is being beautiful here.....though it does signal winter coming in a big way which I definitely like but never feel ready for when we have the "strange" non-seasons we have lately. This yr. we did not have a true summer....stated out with triple digit temps in June that actually never got substantially better and turned into huge drought. So....not ready but love watching the colored leaves fall in a sort of rain-like pattern.
Still thinking on coming to Christmas party.
Joan....I register my "like" on your avatar. I'm also a fan of Yoga and wish I could do a class. They have them at our Rec Center here, but times so far haven't correlated well for me. Maybe one of these days.
Hope you all have a wonderful Sunday.
Hugs, Jackie

Yes, wishing you all much better weather than we had in Neenah, WI yesterday.., it poured.., we got soaked and it was much easier to mask the tears that way. It was the first time I have been presented with something tangible to remind me that I am now a "survivor".
I'm so proud of the Illinois ladies fund raising efforts and outcome. Please know that you have my complete support and although I did the walk in Neenah with my cousin and her family I will be thinking of you all this coming weekend. It's all for the same cause.., same organization.., shouldn't really matter where I walked, right?
On another note, have any of you heard of the Army of Women? I posted a link on an earlier post but haven't heard any feedback. I think it's a mindful initiative keeping women informed of the trials that are going on out there. I think many times we want to help but don't know about the various trials that are happening. I don't know.., just thought you'd be interested in checking it out.
Peaceful Sunday (night) to you all!

Count me in for lunch, I think I can pull off 2:15..... My daughter is cheering at an 11am football game, but my son has a rare weekend off, with no symphony rehearsal, so DH can handle the rest of the day of carpooling on his own. Wish I could walk with you all, but it's the last game of the season......
Hope everyone is doing well. I hit the two year mark this past week, and guess what? I forgot. Hope I get lots of years of "forgetting", and wish the same for all of us.
mdg -- I still have your sweater!

Lisa you're in. Anyone who is coming to lunch or the walk and doesn't have my cell PM me.
C-squared it doesn't matter where you walk. It all goes to the same cause. We just wish you and your crew were physically with us next week but your spirit will be there for sure.

C-Squared--
I have signed up for the Army of Women's longitudinal study and filled out their first questionnaires last week or the week before. The Army of Women is a cool idea -- to get plenty of research participants for studies that can help us end this whole mess of breast cancer.

I have signed up for the Army Of Women info and study. I have been on there for a while.
Lisa - I don't think I can make lunch - just the walk. Sorry I will miss you and my sweater! LOL! I guess we should just do lunch in the burbs soon instead...

Forgiving others is a gift to yourself,
given not because the other deserves pardon,
but because you deserve the serenity and joy
that comes from releasing resentment and anger,
and from embracing universal forgiveness.

like that one.

Good luck with the walk! I just had my exchange surgery this morning and am so relieved to be rid of those expanders. Spunky -can't wait to hear if you like the tats. I am still undecided on what to do, if anything. Looking forward to meeting you all at the holiday party.

This thread keeps disappearing from my favs. We are now up to $1,1110 and still #1!
Anyone on the strides team that isn't getting my emails please note: Contact me by email before 1pm tomorrow (Wednesday) if you would like me to pick up your shirt(s). Let me know the full names of everyone that you want me to pick up. Sadly I found out we are not getting badges this year, only sashes. They ran out
Deborah enjoy the new girls. They change a bit over the next 3-6 months. I'm sure there will be tatts/nips/boobie prize showings in the bathrooms at the holiday party. I think I've officially flashed in every bathroom at Maggiano's Schaumburg

Lago - I look forward to the show and tell. You shouldn't make me laugh like that - it still hurts
I haven't even seen mine yet. I'm a little nervous. At least they are nice and soft.

I didn't have recon, but if I did I would be arrested for indecent exposure lots of times.

Deborah I'm still "are those mine?" when I look in the mirror.

I would love to see nips tattos or whatecer they do. Sounds so interesting.
