Hi there pj12345. A mondegreen is the word used when you hear something completely wrong! It comes from a notice that was given that a person died and they "laid him on the green". Someone who had to relay the message, heard : "And Lady Mondegreen"
I must admit to having quite a few! I love music, but I always seem to hear the lyrics wrong! One of my favourite mondegreens, is Neil Diamond's : Forever in Blue Jeans. As a youngster, I thought he sang: Reverend in blue jeans...Babe!

love it! My husband always hears things wrong and he will repeat back to me what he thinks I said. Always hysterical. A mondegreen!

glad to know there's a name for it! Happens to me most often with song lyrics, for example hearing "Junkies In Love" when it's really "Chuck E's In Love" (Ricky Lee Jones) LOL!
