Me Beans! I'm with you! You gals are amazing with all the fun pictures! I see the cute sliced lemons & limes & celery in the "bar-car"....Why aren't we there?
We have a bottle of Ballatore Gran Spumonte for tonight! But nothing special for dinner! We don't even stay up for all the fireworks...I'm under that electric blanket fast asleep, Ha!
Okay, now I have to get busy! xoxoxoxoxo

Oh, jeepers....here I am in Georgia and that train is on it's way!
Tomorrow I start tamoxifen, so I guess it's running on time!
But first, I have to run out and get some Bailey's Irish Cream for my midnight hot chocolate toast!

Beanius Congrats on completing rads!!! I hope you have a smooth ride on the T train!!!
Happy New Year Everyone!!!

Chevyboy - glad I'm not riding alone! Hope you had a fun NYE!!
CatbirdC - my memory isn't what it used to be thanks to bc stress, chemo brain, and getting older...are you starting tammy or have you been on it? I'm starting Monday- whoo hooo!
Jo - Thanks for the champs!!
Ainm - I'd love to have some Baileys in my coffee or just alone, that stuff is so good and I haven't had it for years. For Christmas I gave my nephew and his wife some Bushmill's Irish Whiskey - don't know if it's good or not, we live in an area with very limited choices. Sure looks beautiful in Ireland.
Heartnsoul - wishing you sooo much luck starting tammy - I hope it goes smoothly!! I'm starting Jan 3.
DiDel - thanks for the congrats on ending rads - that is so nice to not have to drive there every day!! Thanks also for the well wishes on tammy, I'm going to keep a positive attitude and just roll with whatever punches!
HAPPY 1-1-11 TO EVERY1 TODAY!! CHEERS!

Beanius - well, I took it and I'm still here! I think I'll quit tomorrow, though......just kidding...
Jo - you HAD to mention you were in shorts? Thank goodness we're not freezing here anymore - my furnace needs a break. It started making a loud clanging sound I don't like. I called the furnace guy out because it was getting down to 19 degrees that night - he said nothing could be done to save the old fellow, he tried to tighten up a few bolts, and good luck. Yikes!
mmmm....had Baileys last night. Don't like coffee though, so had it in hot chocolate.

heartnsoul76 - It is a tough life, but someone has to do it. LOL I hate the snow and cold weather, that is why I moved so far south. I did deal with the white stuff when I was in the Air Force - they sent me to those places - now it is my choice.

heartandsoul - wow! LOL ! you took the whole thing and you're still here??? I'm sooooo glad!! You were brave to do it! My turn soon!!! If you quit, I will too (j/k), thanks for making me laugh! mmmmm Baileys...hope you stay warm!
jo - where we normally live it's very snowy and we came to the coast for rads as we didn't have such a facility in the mountains. Now that's done I'm just wanting to go somewhere sunny and warm...humm...thinking about a trip to the southern sun!!! Actually we were hoping to get as far as Texas, but will see. At least I'm not "grounded" anymore for rad appointments, I feel like a free person again!!

Bean - Just make sure if you come to Texas you get below San Antonio for the warmth. It does get really cold in Dallas/Ft Worth area - they even have snow on occasion.0

Happy New Year Sisters!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Congrats Beans on finishing rads.
Have been on tamox 1 week. Still here
Where's the train stopping next?

Hi Beans- You have a way of livening up any forum, nice to see you here! I hopped on the train on 10/5 and it is not bad for me. I want to pass on a few tips that worked for the hot flashes I was having. I got them bad, especially at night. I now only get a few. Anyway, I take One-a-Day menopause, Bee's pollen and Effexir. The combo has greatly helped me although I am not sure if it is everything together, or one or two of these together but it made a huge difference in my quality of life. I hope you do not get the dreaded hot flashes but give these things a try and maybe just take the One a Day to start. Good luck to you Beanius. And sorry for those of you that have heard me say this before, just trying to help my girls help their girls. lol.
Hi Jan - Nice to see you here too. I see you met my dear brest friend, Beans. Benius Bean-Bean Beany Bean is her real name. Tamox is an estrogen blocker used to assist in recurrance and protect our overies and girly parts. I believe it is for those of us that are ER+.
I "only" have four years, nine months and ten or so days left of it. I can't wait to be done but then again, I would be wishing my life away. Okay, I take that back, I can wait. My sister did the five years of it and had just mild flashes and leg cramps as a se. That is also the extent of mine. My weight had gone down but is going back up again. I believe it is my grand appetite and not the tammy causing my current weight gain.
Jo and Janet, cute pics! Nice to see everyone here. I am going to skip back and read this through were I last posted. I sort of left this forum when I returned to work but would like to catch up and see how the girls on the train are doing!
I am bored tonight. DH is out at friends and I thought I would get alot done, nope. I am feeling so lazy as usual.
Good night all and Beans, I KNOW you can :-)

Hi Beans- You have a way of livening up any forum, nice to see you here! I found this one boring but still kept it as a favorite. I hopped on the train on 10/5 and it is not bad for me. Beans and Dorothy:
thanks for the info on Tamox.
I've been on it since October and only have mild flashes or 'heat waves'...I've been walking almost everyday and I think the exercise has helped.
Beans: you can do this too! Yes you can....

JanetinVirginia - Love the pic
I sure hope I can. I have struck out with all the AIs. My hot flashes are so bad now that I hope they don't get worse once I start Tammy. I am up enough at night and have to change clothes at least once. I go through pillowcases like you would not believe. I am gonna raise that issue on Wed when see my onc. Will let everyone know what he says.

I've been on T since early Oct. No significant se's. I'm post menopausal by a dozen years, no hot flashes etc. Minor increases of pain in arthritic joints, other joints ok so far.

Thought you all would like to read about the "Father of Tamoxifen" at the Lombardi Cancer Center at Georgetown Univ Hospital (where I had my mastec!). It's worth reading. He continues to do amazing research. I think he's one of the best hopes out there for another breakthrough.

JanetinVirginia - Thanks for sharing the article. It is very interesting. I hope he does come up with another breakthrough.

Great article...thanks for posting it. It's all amazing really. Love the image I had in my mind of the estrogen telling that nasty little cancer cell to die!
My appt is Tues. Quite a few of us starting this soon. I thought I read something somewhere though that mentioned the best time in your cycle to start it? Can't remember what it said now though. Anyone know?

HI ALL so, without reinventeing the wheel, does anyone have probs with sleep or appetite? always hungry, but nothing, nad and zilch of stuff that i greatly enjoyed is offensive now, and not the other way around. that would be ok. mud would be ok at this rate i'll probly like smoking sicgars! no radiation or chemo, so i know thats not involved....anybody? anybody?
0 -
Hi everyone I finished radiation on Dec 28 and tonight took my first dose of Tamoxifen. I hope it's not a problem that I am taking it at the same time as my probiotics and my low dose naltrexone, as I don't really have a choice, I take so many meds.

Hi Ladies , I am new to the train!... I started Tamoxifen in Sept had a horrible time with it . Went to the onco sent me for a CAT scan and all was good. I was getting dizzy, very anxious not knowing where I was a few times, very scary. I came off of it for ten days for some reconstruction surgery and felt good again. I went back on it I slowly increased my does 5mg 1st week 10mg sec.etc... I am on the 20mg now but split the dose in am and pm, my onc thought that would help. So far its not as bad as last time, but still struggling with insomnia and fatigue , anxiety and mood swings..... will take all that as long as I know where I am and am not dizzy lol!!!!. what a ride this train takes us on huh???
Bless you all!

Happy New Year gals! Did I just mistakenly read we could somehow be boring? Ha! Hey, look at all our funny little names, by our Avatar! That just makes me smile! Mine is Chevyboy, remembering our old dog....But WHAT or WHERE did we find "Beans?" Ha, ha! Or Tinkertude, or Phew? East Coast Girl, well that's pretty obvious...But I LOVE your names!
This is where I got the information that Tamoxifen is a "type" of Chemo....
http://www.chemocare.com/bio/novaldex.asp
I'm just glad that we have this, to add to our defenses! I was told I should take Femara, but the Tamoxifen wasn't causing me much trouble, & I didn't want to change, the chicken that I am.
But man, last night, my legs were going nuts! Just trying to cramp, no matter WHAT I did with them! I finally had to get up & throw on my muck-luks, sweater & sweats, because I was FREEZing! 5 degrees out, & the house not much warmer...but walking straightened my cramps out. I don't get those too often...
I don't know WHY I never got hot flashes....Not even when I must have gone through the "change" Ha! But maybe that's why I don't have them now. And I didn't have chemo! That seems to make a difference. I sometimes get "warm waves"...but that's as close to a "flash" as I get...I WISH I would have had one last night!!!!!!! And this cold tile kitchen floor will wake you RIGHT up!
In 4 days gals, I will be ONE YEAR!!!! On Tamoxifen! Hah! And actually I DO feel better than I ever have! Maybe the vitamins have helped also, but considering how afraid I was of this whole "trip".....and to come out feeling this good, makes me soooooooo happy!
Just hang in there....your side effects should level out after a few weeks! Drink in the mean time! Just KIDDING! I know there is a link somewhere, like "Is it Okay to drink?" I say "heck yeah!" But just one drink a day.....or so.............Honestly, if you were raised around anyone who did more than their share, shall we say, you will never, not ever, drink too much....It makes you nuts.
Jo & Janet....I LOVE your little pictures! You make this link so fun! "Experience the Magic"...I like that!
Okay kids...don't fret none....just try & take that Tamoxifen.....I KNOW it is hard for some of you, but see if you can ride out the SE's! If you can make it as far as I have, just THINK....only 4 more years to go! and 4 days......
Later Gators! xoxoxoxoxo
