    Happy happy birthday Deb.

Sherry the nurse and I talked and she said it was more common and normal for people to itch after radiation and within a year.  Highly unlikely if it is going on 2 years and she said I would have been bothered by this before.  However, today has been a somewhat good day, not completely driving me crazy.

June:  I had a terrible time with itching boob after my surgery, but it's been about a month and it's calmed down, so there is hope.  It was terrible because if you scratched or rubbed it hurt!

SherryC - interesting about Zometa.  I just had an appt with my Onc (which is why the switch from lupron to tamox) and we didn't discuss that as an option.  My doctor is Dr. Kent Osborne who is on the Exec Committee of the San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium and has been on the board since 1992.  I wonder if it is because I am in chemically induced menopause from the Lupron??  I was dx at 37 and am 40 now.  I am going call and see what I can find out..........

June, I, too am concerned about the rash.

I've had one since about November.  It is mostly below my incision, close to my drain tube scars on both sides.  I've told and shown my ONC, BS, ND and GYN and none of them mentioned anything about secondary C.  My Onc took my off Tamox about 10 days ago to let my SE's subside (which included the rash but it hasn't gone away).

Yikes.  Now I'm a bit scared.

Jo, you said it! "I have much better things to do than deal with this crap." Amen.

Welcome, CristlC, but you have just stirred the pot with June and Paula and Tink, and although Jo provides wonderful food, she is not above a little trouble herself!  I, on the other hand, am just a little angel!  Innocent

Had a good day at work today, met with my boss and we figured out a workload reduction that should help me get more rest and time to heal, and still get my classes taught.  He is taking me off all committee work, excused from all departmental meetings, putting a hold on my research until the end of summer, etc.  I sure hope I can stick to this and NOT do extra stuff in my "time off" as I am supposed to be healing and taking care of myself!  Thanks for all your support.

My hope and prayer is that everyone with scans and MRIs and appointments this week are free from anxiety.  And happy belated birthday, Deb (I think).  June, special thoughts for you and your mom.

Deb & Kaara please don't go worrying I am almost 2 years out from radiation and surgery so I really don't know what mine is.  I wouldn't worry and please I am not here to make anyone else worry.  My Onc chose not to see me and just for myself to keep a close eye on it.

Linda you are quite the angel.....just like me.

Wow it looks like Im gonna need hip waders the next time I come here, with all the bs, lol!

I know that the Tammo can be overwhelming at the start.  I know that for me just coming off of chemo the wham 2 weeks later I started it.  It did take awhile for some of the SE to let up.  I dont know if my bod just needed to heal up from the chemo or if its like that from the start.  I know some gals around here have had no SE, oh how I envy them.  Hang in there and if you have any question please ask.  We all have been there and know how the very begining can be.

Linda take care of yourself and rest with the time you will have.

Christi you should ask.  I was 48 at diag and did not do chemo and I have not gone into menapause. I figure I need all the help I can get.  I know it is a new study and next year they may say not to do it but I'll do it until then should that come up.

Paula LOL on the waders.  There is alot of bs going on around here.

Happy Belated Birthday Deb...Fingers crossed for you on the female issues.

Jo - Hope you get back on the Tammy train without issue.

June - I understand your frustration and stress with the situation with your mom being ill. I know it is hard but hang in there girlfriend! Hugs to you and plenty of prayers for you & your mom coming your way.

Welcome Christi. As you can see, we are all angels in disquise. Just watch out for the pillows flying on Fridays. Pillow fights can be sooo therapeutic..

And since we are discussing itching, when do the dang drain holes quit itching? Mine on the ca side still drive me nuts!

Have a good night ladies. Hugs to everyone!

June, so sorry to hear about your Mom.  I hope she will rally.  I have had the itching also, on my side that is almost two years out and my BS told me that when you have radiation, your skin never totally recovers and will always be dry -  to use lotion.

Jo and Sherry, glad you are doing better!

Welcome Christi - i see you are 4 years out - you go girl.  I hope Tammi treats you well and that you'll be lucky and have fewer side effects.

I'm sorry to  hear so many are suffering with SE's right now.  I too hate the little white pill. I see my MO next week.  Nothing like that quarterly reminder that yes, I really did have the big C. It was a year ago this week that I found out I had it for the 2nd time.  So I'm coming up on almost 2 years on the DCIS side (itchy side - lol) and 1 year on the IDC side.

You guys make me smile....  hip waders, pocket riders, pillow fights and boy toy pictures.

    Hi, All,

Sorry not much time to come hang out with you guys. Today my father had a good day, got platelets and is feeling better, came home from the hospital. I am finally recovering from sinusitis/bronchitis and can be near him again. Next wk starts round two of chemo so we are gearing up. He's in great shape but leukemia treatment is rough!

Re Zometa, I've been on it since dx, had three treatments so far. No big deal, but it wipes you out for about a week. Just very tired. Need to get clearance from your dentist before starting cause of the remote risk of jaw infections. Feel free to ask if anyone has questions.

Cristl, I'm impressed that you lasted three yrs on Lupron. I couldn't do six months, had an ooph after half a year of it. I think you'll find that the SEs of tamoxifen are milder than those of Lupron. Good luck.

Good luck to all Ladies waiting for results or appts. Of course we are here with you.

    All the best, Shari

Shari good to hear you have done well on the Zometa.  Before i started Fosomax i did talk to my Dentist about it and she thought I was fine with it.  I do have a Dentist appt the week before my infusion so I will discuss it with her then. Glad you Dad is hanging in there and that you are feeling better and on the mend.  I know how much it means to you to be able to be there for your Dad.

June I have been thinking about you.  So hard to have to deal with these issues with our parents.

Yesterday I took my mom to a Neurologist.  This guy was very thorough.  He sets all new patient appointments at 90 minutes and he goes through everything.  My mom has had these fainting spells over the last several years and no one seems to know what is going on.  So her PCP finally said she needed to see a neurologist.  Anyway we really liked him and he explained alot to us and one thing we were worried about is Mom's memory.  He explained that Diabetes can cause memory issues which no one had ever told us before.  I don't think her PCP is the best in the world but she loves him so we are stuck with him for now. He is very personable and that is why she loves him.  The new guy is running all kinds of test to try to figure out what is going on but he really does not think it is anything really major but we will see. I have been talking to my mom about the fact that she is depressed.  One day she agrees and the next day she says she does not need any help.  Well this guy clearly saw she was depressed and he handled it so fabulously that she has agreed to see a psychiatrist and get on some medication. We had a good talk on the way home and then one of my brothers went by after work and helped her with a few things she needed done and they had a good visit.  So she called me last night and told me she felt better and really thought getting on some antidepressants would be helpful to her.

Sherry thank you  thank you thank you.  I am feeling horrible as I cannot get through to talk to her and my kids have had sports each nite so I haven't been able to go see her.  I do have tomorrow off and after my PT appointment I will spend the rest of the afternoon with her until my kids come home.  It has been over 3 weeks and she can't seem to kick the pneumonia's butt......but I have not given up and hopefully she will gain some strength.

My itching has subsided and it only lasted for 2 days....so fingers crossed ladies.

    Love to you all.....

Paula your slacking....where is the eye candy or should I say boy toys like Caroline so sweetly sais......lol
