Lisa - love the boat floats.

coonie - where on the Gulf Coast did you go!  I grew up going to Galveston every chance I go all year round.  My favorite spot was on the rocks along the sea wall across the street from Gido's, don't think they are there any more.  That was a very long time ago.

Raj, I've read many articles about the risk of radiation from mammograms, and the most reliable all agree - there is nothing in the act of getting a mammogram which could lead to breast cancer. I've met many women on this website whose cancer was found on their very first mammogram. I am a true believer that mammograms save lives, not cause any problems.  I was told by three specialists that my tumor would not have been felt by me or a medical professional for years, and it would have kept growing and reaching out, if it hadn't been caught on my annual mammogram.  I hope the day you get yours goes well for you my friend.

Faith - the question about whether you should get an iPad 2, are you kidding me????  With all your doing doing doing for others, if you find something you want, I say go for it girl :)

Lisa, I don't have one myself ... I did get myself a Kindle last year and it's my best friend! I read for 40 minutes twice a day on the train going to and from work. We always got our books at a used book store that swapped for credits, so we could get 15-20 paperbacks for about $10 or something. They closed  and no way I'd pay full price for new books, and not really close to a library, so Kindle was perfect choice for me. I have a SIL who checks Amazon's daily free offerings and emails me with interesting choices!  I have more than 100 books on my Kindle, and I have not paid for one yet, other than the very first one I bought for $3.99. Anyway, I'm not sure I need an iPad in my life yet, but wouldn't hesitate to get one if I wanted one!  The last few years I've gotten over any guilt about buying something for me just 'cause I want it. Assuming, of course, that I can afford it... I haven't breached that line yet!

Lisa - what kind of cell phone do you have.  If you have a blackberry you might want to check out their new touch pad that works in conjunction with the phone, not sure of all that it will do but it is another option if you are a blackberry person.  The Samsung looks interesting on their commercials, but I have not actually seen one.  I love my iPad 2 and it does way more than I need, but I love playing with it and finding out all sorts of new stuff, some very useful and some just for fun and some just crazy.  I really like the FaceTime app (kind of like Skype but much better quality and smoother vedio transitions). My grandson has FaceTime on his iTouch and we visit with each other at least once a week, usually when he should be doing school work.  When Mom catches him he says, "But it's Grammie!" then I get to visit with my DD. I also visit with BarbA once in a while on FaceTime.  I like iPad so much I finally switch and go a Macbook Pro for my newest laptop instead of another Windows PC.  I am a true Apple fan now, I am waiting for the iPhone 5 to come out in October to get a new phone.

I have a kindle too...but I also volunteer at our library bookstore and we sell paperbacks 5 for a dollar and newish hardbacks for 2 dollars..hard to resist..aj, I have a useless cell phone i only use for mostly emergencies. I am having a hard time convincing myself that the air time for the pads is really worth it when we do have wifi at home...I know I have to get with the times...

    hmmmmm

Hey Amyjo---We went to Galveston!!!! I think I know the place you're talking about. It may have a different spelling though....I'm thinking it's Gaidos or Guidos......anyway, delicious seafood!! Gumbo is out of this world good!! The place we stayed is about 20 miles out from the main strip where the public beach is. It's a lot less crowded out of town a little. We definitely want to do it again! Maybe in the Fall.......we're as much into just sitting and staring at the waves, and listening to the music they play:)

My DH has an iPad and carries it with him everywhere he goes. It also serves as a GPS and tons of other stuff. My iphone is sufficient for what I need. Mostly just talking and taking pics:)

Raj, it's good to see you. Hope your appts all turn out fine!!

Big hugs to all! Hope you all have a restful and peaceful weekend!

Hi ladies from Dartmouth Nova Scotia. We are heading to Peggys Cove today then on to catch a ferry to Newfoundland.Raining at the moment so we are hopeing for better weather.Photos to follow.

I was also thinking about getting an Ipad 2 with 3G so it could be used in the car for traffic reports or as a gps.Seems like everyone who has one is thrilled with them.

Hope everyone is having a relaxing weekend.

I got a Kindle and read some of the books on it, but I need the paper and the smell of a book. I found it a bit hard to hold as it's so thin. My fingers had to be tighter and it exacerbated my arthritis! Go figure!! I thought holding a book open was bothering my arthritis, but the thin hold was worse....

I took it back. Good old Walmart!!!! The iPads are a bit more substantial but do you have to pay a monthly cost like a cell phone? I don't want that!! I already pay for internet in my home, so would I be able to use the iPad upstairs??

Yes, Barbe, I use my iPad with my wireless internet (or hot spots elsewhere). You do have to pay a cellphone fee but I got the bare minimum data plan as I use my home internet.

If you have wifi at home you don't need to pay for an additional plan.  I got the iPad 2 that was made for Verizon wireless 3G and I use the wireless internet I already have at home and can use any hotspot I want. I did not have to get an additonal data plan to use my iPad or the new iPad 2.  I do have a mobile hotspot of my own and I have had it for almost 6 years now and I use when traveling or if I do not feel the avilable hotspot is safe (if I cannot determine if it is the real one for the location I am wanting to use). I just upgrade the MiFi and got an unlimited data plan since I was alway going over my plan limits.  Those of you going to MO in Sept. I can handle up to 5 devices provided I can get a signal so we can great our own hotspot.

coonie - everyone knows I cannot spell worth a flip for I very well may have misspelled the name of the resturant.  I am sure it is the same place - sure sounds like it by the description of the food!  The was a waiter there that used to come out and bring me hot tea when he would see me sitting out there in Feb when it was cold and rainy or damp.  His name was Lou and he was about the same age as my father.  I am sure he is no longer there or if he is he is really old, like apporaching 100!

Lisa - I still love the boat floats.  Don't need tech know how for that!
