Somehow this thread was dropped from my favs :(  Anyhow...finally got back here, phew! Chabba and Mum, as usual, your pics are just breathtaking. Though not on the same level, I saw a lot of birds and I always liked this one from our Hideaway Beach 'cause I wanted to capture just the white heron, but since I can't focus for sh*t, I got wide angle. Once I downloaded though, I saw that I got all kinds of shore birds, and two herons, so I was kind of glad it worked out that way! (there are birds all along the back, near the water, if that's not obvious at first!!)

That's a great, moody pic, Marlegal. Do you have a "telephoto" button on your camera to bring it all closer?

Lisa, it's cause your pics are "doubly" good! They are too small for me, though.

Lisa, you know me and my herons!!

Barbe, it's a cheap digital that I leave on "smart auto" all the time. What I lack in skill I make up for in luck! Seriously, I often aim at one thing and wind up with something else - much more interesting - when I see it later!

Lisa - that is okay if it post 2 times.  It is well worth seeing twice.  Love the oceans, no matter what coast or Continent.

For a minute there I thought our Faith was stopping in for a visit when I saw that avatar!!! (Elisimo's)  Wasn't that Faith's for a while?

Hugs if you're reading this Faith and just don't have time to post!

marlegal - it may have been Faith's avatar at one time, I don't remember for sure. I was trying to change my avatar and it would not let me put up what I wanted and this was the only other thing I could find when I was tired and have not gone back and tried to change it again.   I like tulips, so it was not too bad a choice.  Just not what I was hoping to put up.

Faith has a BIG sunflower with a butterfly on it. I believe a monarch butterfly. Let me look around & see for sure!

I am also in a serious beach withdrawal.Summer here in Canada has been extremely hot and so dry the farmers in the province are really suffering this year.I have had houseguests all month. Now everyone is gone so if my DH can solve his managment problems at work we can plan our next escape.Meanwhile this old photo will have to hold us.

What the heck is in it's mouth? And how does it fly without a tail?? Never thought I'd think "ugly bird"...but...

Some kind of fish in the mouth, and a short tail, but it is a tail! Guess it's used more as a rudder than a glide, since the wing span is so big.

We are here at my happy place this weekend, and hope to get to both ocean and bay beaches, so stay tuned for current pics later :)

I am again awed :)  Too hot today to do anymore more than sit on our back porch and bird watch - we face the woods and have feeders out there. I understand anyone else thinking it's lame, but if you have bird feeders, you know how incredibly entertaining they can be!!! We laughed so much at some of the antics, it's ridiculous :)

We used to have bird feeders and enjoyed them.  We thought we had them vermin proofed after watching a couple of squirrels frustrated when they tried to get into them.  Then one morning we opened the drapes and discovered a rat had committed suicide the night before--hung himself trying to get at the bird seed.  DH took down the feeders.

I don't mind the squirrels getting at my feeder. They have to eat, too, but they are a HOOT in their antics to get IN!!!! You'd think they were starving to death - the fat little buggers! I like that the tiny little birds will come when DH and I are out there just sitting and talking. I guess they feel safe from big birds flying at them. The little birds can almost walk right into the holes on our cylindrical feeder they are so tiny!!
