    LOL, lisamarie!!

Is this who you thought of?

I must have watched that movie a thousand times between watching it growing up and watching with my kids...  The original one.. with Gene Wilder.  My brothers, sister and I used to even pretend to be the different characters...  God, we were such dorks....lol

Hope you are having a good day!  I agree... Stick together and STAY STRONG!!

    Raffomimi,

Hope you got everyone where they needed to be... I remember those hectic mornings well!  Everyone going in a million different directions.  Now both of mine are old enough to drive themselves but, I never see my car anymore unless it needs gas....lol

I like your quote of 'Just for Today' ...I think, in addition to Stay Strong, it should be part of our motto here!

    Galsal!!!

Great news from you, too!  You all are doing terrific and should be really proud of yourselves! I think you may be the first that we've had using the Chantix...Seems like it's doing it's job!  Would love to hear what you think about it so far!

Barbara, yes,  We were at Gasparilla last month.  Cool

Seaside - I had quit in 9/09 using Chantix and stayed quit until 9/11.  So, going with what I know worked for me.  It truly is an addiction though and I was pulled back into it, despite removing myself from smoke-filled environments etc.

Dear Galsal, it truly is an addiction and in most of our cases we didn't know that when we first started.  Why else would strong women like us have to work so hard at quitting.  You are doing great, glad the Chantix works for you.  Karen

Seaside & Galsal:  I used Chantix.  I stopped smoking in my house first.  Two weeks later stopped smoking in my car.  I must admit I did smoke once when I was stuck in traffic & felt soooo guilty. Then I started the Chantix & quit entirely two weeks later.  I only took it at 1/2 dose & never ramped up, but was very pleased.  Whenever I wanted to smoke, I took a long walk. Immediately I stared washing all my clothes or moving wools to the garage for the cleaners.  Two months after quitting I had my carpets, drapes & all upholstered furniture cleaned. And I started "treating" myself right away with the savings.

I think Jo is amazing and deserves a real hand for quitting while living with a smoker.

JUST FOR TODAY, this smoker is still not smoking.

MinusTwo - Thanks for that.  It is hard.  Both of my assistant managers smoke so I have 3 people around me.  The only thing that is keeping me from going back to regular cigs is an electronic cig.  My strength can only last so long.  Real soon I can celebrate 8 months.  Will let everyone know so we can party.

    Good Morning Girlies!

Well I'm still smoke free and Saturday is day six. I'm meeting my sister @ 3pm today in a coffee shop( walked out on me nearly four weeks after I was diagnosed and had the double BMX because I told her I wasn't going to attend her daughters baby naming ceremony.......long story!) roll on nearly six months later and she texts me asking can we be friends.Don't even know what to say to her........On another note, my hubby smokes and has no intention of quitting and my eldest daughter smokes as well(no one has ever been allowed to smoke in our house) but I try not to think of it too much. Well done everyone, we will not smoke today because we have made the decision Not to and just for today I choose not to smoke. I will however chew on my E cigarette!!!

    Blessings and Hugs

Congratulations to ALL who are striving to be and have been smoke free!  Jo, if I have to cave I will endeavor to do so only with the e-cig at the zero level.

Galsal - That is what I do - the e-cig.  I am having such a stressful time at work that I am alternating between the low nicotine and zero nicotine and actually don't feel bad about it at all.  I am not inhaling all those 4,000+ chemicals or the tobacco.  I will eventually get off the e-cig but will not committ right down.

lisamarie - You are doing fantastic.  If you don't mind, I am going to borrow your words at the end of your last post - JUST FOR TODAY - I CHOOSE NOT TO SMOKE!!!

We had 6 tornados in the county I live in yesterday; they went along the same path as the April 2011 tornados that killed some people. Luckily, nobody killed or injured badly, but lots of homes and businesses lost. I feel so sorry for those folks, they have had enough! But, thankfully for me, they went north of where I live. There are mountains all around my area, so I think that helps protect us from the storms. But yesterday was nerve wracking with listenting to the tornado sirens go off about every half hour.

Everybody hang in there and stay smoke free. It is a wonderful way to live!

OMG Bama!! That sounds awful and those poor people! To be hit once is just horrible but to be hit again is just unimaginable! It isn't unheard of for us to have tornadoes here in NY but, it is rare and we don't tend to get those whopper ones...

We lived in MN for 5 years and I remember those sirens all too well! Having to seek cover in the basement... And at night, they were just terrifying!

Glad you're OK! Hugs and prayers to those who weren't so fortunate....

Dear Bama, that had to be just terrifying for you hearing the sirens going off.  Amazing scene of destruction on TV.  Not  once but twice having it happen, all feelings of safety gone.  So glad you are OK, prayers to those who lost their lives and their way of life.  It is so hard to comprehend  hugs and more hugs to you. Karen

Bama - My heart goes out to those who were in the path of destruction.  I know how terrifying it can be.  Many years ago, I lived in the Texas Panhandle with my parents and tornados were common there.  Glad to hear you are safe.

Karen - Times are stressful for me right now and my e-cig is with me all the time.  Still having a smoker in the house is really testing me.  There have been times I so wanted to get a cig out of DHs pack and smoke it.  Instead, I reach for the e-cig.  On one hand I feel like I am cheating but on the other hand I still consider myself a non smoker.  I am still taking things on day at a time.

You know, when you think about...how strong are we to be quitting smoking when going through all of this!  Don't know about you all, but I quit as I decided which surgery to have and that was a month after dx and a month before bmx.

I'm originally from the Chicago area and we had tornadoes all the time.  I'm thankful so many were spared, despite the outrageous number of storms and the depth of destruction.  Prayers for those who have perished.

So glad I decided to quit smoking on Jul 15, 2011.  Sure makes it easier to prepare for my upcoming recon surgery.

It is so sad to see all the destruction with the recent tornadoes.  I have lived in areas prone to those type of storms and it is scary.

    lisamarie and Maria,

I can't post pictures using my Ipad and tried for all I was worth on my old, painfully slow laptop (i'm sure the screaming that you may have heard in the last 20 minutes or so were from me)....

    Galsal,

You are coming up on 2 MONTHS!!! So proud of you, too!

You ladies are just rockin' it!!!

Whatever trials tomorrow will bring... This too shall pass... Just for today, we will stay strong!!!

    Jo,

Thank you for the pic!! I honestly don't know what is going on with my laptop... usually I can coax it into doing what I need it to do although it may be slow.... Tonight it was as though it was possessed!! I was about ready to throw it out the window before I gave up!! LOL
