Incidentally, I called my plastic surgeon's office a week before the surgery and told THEM what style implant to order for me. I was trying to decide between the Allergan Style 45 and the Allergan Style 20....and it was MY decision. My PS left it up to me. She had no ego about this....she probably knew what a nightmare I would be if SHE chose and I was not happy! I think she was relieved to allow a patient to make this decision. I want each and every one of you to have input and involvement in the outcome of this very important factor in our recovery from breast cancer!

Ilovehorses: re: the nurse telling DH you need to quit feeling sorry for yourself. That is a terrible thing to say. I would mention it to your PS. A good doc wants to know when something like that happens
dani: I think Deborah is right
Deborah: are things settling in from the last surgery? Anything improving? I know you weren't happy when the fat grafting absorbed

Calling all breast cancer sisters... can you do me a favor? I know this is off the topic and I hope you don't mind that I am posting this but...I am trying to win a contest for my son (to meet his idol - Joe Perry, Aerosmith)... all you have to do is click on this link and click on the thumbs up icon to vote for our entry (legit site, legit contest, MOST deserving young man!)... can you please help me? Just trying to bring a little joy into my son's life after all this depressing /chemo stuff... voting is only June 23-26... please vote? It'll only take a second... help me bring joy to this boy! Thank you so much! P.S. It says you can only vote once, but if you have more than one computer I think you can vote twice.. lol

Deborah,
I think the key difference in my experience and yours is that you referred to your ps as "she"! I will have to think about putting my thoughts in writing. I normally hesitate to put anything on paper but I will consider it for this. I think you are right and I at the very least need to find out why he is choosing such a large diameter for my small frame, especially when I told him that was not what I wanted.
I sent you pictures in a pm of my expanders some time ago. I don't know if you still have them but if you do, you will probably see why I don't want them so large in diameter.
Thanks again.

Dani,
I know how you feel about talking to the Drs. I have a hard time speaking up for myself. This time I really felt like I got my concerns across to him, and I know it's still early to tell, but I don't think I'm happy so far with my new ones. They're still too low, smaller than I wanted, and I'm seeing ripples already. AAAAAHHHHHH! So speak up for yourself, just reach way down deep where that strength is that got you through this BC! I'm on pic forum too.

dani42 - you ABSOLUTELY need to do as Deb recommends and write that letter! This is YOUR body and you should decide what happens to it! I know this is a crazy time for you with the graduation and all, but you definitely don't need the stress of worrying about your exchange on top of all that. We're on your side!

DANI: Yes, and I just went back and looked at them again. You look so good. Your skin integrity is just great - not tight, not shiny, no stretch marks. My skin was so stretched, it looked like my left expander had given birth to twins. My implants were 125 cc's greater than my expanders. So, there is no reason you should not be able to exchange to the 375 cc Mentor HP implants. Your pocket is larger than the 375 cc implant!!!! 12.0 cm is a perfect width for you.
Okay, so prior to putting all of this in a letter, FIRST call and tell the nurse that you are feeling some apprehension about the exchange surgery - about the implants to be used - and you would like another consultation prior to the procedure. Go over everything and spill it out...spell it out during that consultation. You can choose the implants you want. You're ribcage is so tiny, you could even go with the extra full projection, but my concern about that style is that you would need quite a bit more pocket work - it is very narrow - and it might look too tall on your chest wall. I wish I knew more about the extra full profiles in the smaller "cc" range. I search constantly for examples...but so far nothing below 600 cc's have we found. So I think the Style 20 is the best choice for you.
Anyway, I think you get the gist of what I am saying and that I am ADAMANT about not wanting you to go into this exchange surgery feeling the way you do...
However I can help....please let me know.
Deborah

(((Dani))) I agree with Deborah and Val 161 and would write a letter or a list of questions to the PS to clarify what your concerns are before the next procedure. If you would prefer another face to face appt with the PS before the procedure that might be better. The letter/questions keeps you from forgetting all of the things you want to cover with the Dr. and allows you to ask the questions without getting rattled. You have the responsibility to protect your body by asking the questions before the surgery and the PS has the responsibility to answer your questions appropriately. There are no silly questions. I want you to have peace before the procedure. Keep us posted. Jan

Dani I just logged on and read your post about your implants being ordered
Please Please Please share your concerns with your PS
with your small frame of 27 inches I can't amagine anything bigger than 12cm on you

I'm 195 : - )

I still say any of these which I posted earlier would work better
I'm just afraid what he ordered will be too flat looking unless you don't want a lot of projection
Dani so if I get this all right you have a rib cage of 27"
your TE were 12.6 which you feel is too wide
You can reduce the size of your implant but your PS might have to do some pocket work
so I think you could go with style 20 375cc would be 11.7 by 4.9
Style 20 350cc are 11.4 by 4.9 (these have the same projection as the 375cc)
Or style 45 would also be a option 400cc would be 11.2 by 5.1
Style 45 360cc would be 10.8 by 5.1
Style 45 460cc would be 11.4 by 5.9 (most projection of all implants given)
All of these just depend on how much narrower you want your implants

I measure 29" around my ribcage and I have the Style 20 350CC and 375CC. I feel they are the perfect size for me. I fill out a 34C bra. Hope this helps.
hello Lorraine!!!!
We may be nipple sisters....Hope to get an early August date.

Thank you to everyone for your support and advise. I will call tomorrow and express my concerns, and tell them I prefer the style 20's or 45's. I actually picked out the style 20, 375 cc's. I was very clear that I did not like the diameter and pointed out that they were almost to my back. Yes, I have a 27 inch ribcage. I have no idea why he picked such large tissue expanders.
Lorraine - I am so happy for you that you are having your nips done soon. Kathies results were fantastic.

Hi Ladies!!!!
I am back from FL feeling relaxed, happy and ready to take on several interviews with several different PS about my SSP TE being replaced! I have 2 interviews tomorrow and both PS were highly recommended by girls in my Susan Koman exercise class! I went and checked out the office before FL and it is beautiful and already I am so impressed. I am very excited about giving my other PS the boot and even more so after looking at all the insurance forms and how much he has made off of me! I will let you know how it goes. I can't wait to get these TE out and the new one's in and filled!!!
It is amazing what 10 days with no doctor appts. can do for your perspective!!! I am ready to take on the world girls!!!
Good to see you all and be back. Now let me go back to page 126 and catch up with you all!!!
