I had my last pap a couple years ago - PCP said not needed after 65 - near last pap, I had an trans-vaginal ultrasound due to something that should up on a kidney ultrasound. There was fluid, but turns out all was within normal limits. Thankfully.

Haven't had a PAP in several years. I had a TAH when I was about 52. I still see the GYN as he was the one that did all the referrals for BC.

My GYN, after I jumped through so many hoops to just get the appt. said that she would do it ( one more ) but that at my age it was seldom done and she didn't recommend any more. I think I was 72 then. I never had any issues what-so-ever the whole time the tests were done on me. I chose to go with this GYN's advice and use the time and energy for mammo's and other yearly tests.

I’m 62 and keep going for PAPs. But I’ll add it to my list of things I can stop doing. One year 3 months left of AI, 2.5 more years of PAPs. At least a few thing to look forward to as I age. HA

We’ve decided to wear masks indoor down here in FL. It’s a mix when you go in someplace but it seems the newest variant makes not wearing one too risky.

Almost no masks here but I wear mine anyway when I go inside a store. I wore a mask into the gym yesterday and kept it on until I started exercising in a senior class that is very large, filling up the gym. We're spaced apart about 6 feet but we know now that spacing is no protection. As soon as the exercise was finished, I put the mask back on.

Two of the men anchors on CNBC who have Covid were just talking on the morning show. They were both triple vaccinated and have very mild symptoms. I don't think either of them is 65, thus not in the highest risk age group.

Hi, Jackie. I hope you are healing and getting your strength back. Thanks for the positive quotation.

I was out and about yesterday, donning my mask when I went inside a place of business, but there were few masks being worn by other people.

While doing my grocery shopping, I have not encountered shortages of ingredients for the dishes I will be preparing for the Christmas dinner at my younger sister's house. Also the prices have not been a lot higher than "normal." I think the supermarkets are trying to help their customers by putting popular items on sale. Except for beef, which I wasn't buying. The expensive cuts of beef like standing rib roast are very pricey but people are still buying them.

I'm a little concerned about the Christmas gathering but will take whatever risk is involved. It won't be a large gathering and the alternative would be staying home with no company. DH would probably spend the day out in his workshop. We're both triple vaccinated. That should minimize the risk.

My Christmas list for gifts is a short list and the gifts are cash. I decided against gift cards this year.

If we could but recognize our common humanity, that we do belong together, that our destinies are bound up in one another's, that we can be free only together, that we can be human only together, then a glorious world would come into being where all of us lived harmoniously together as members of one family, the human family. -Desmond Tutu

Beautiful sunny day. Had such cloudy rainy days beforehand that the last few days ( seasonably warm ) have been all the more enjoyable. I continue to struggle but I know progress is being made. I'm not the most patient person which tends to make me notice the struggle part more. Treating a sore on my backside. Otherwise all is fine so far.

There are some higher prices here although mainly I think in the meat dept. I can live with that since we don't eat all that much meat. There will be a slightly bigger raise in social security in January. I'm told medicare increases will take a fair portion of the raise.

Cousin Mary came over yesterday and did some cooking as well as bringing along some pork chops for the freezer. She has gone out of her way to help me and I so appreciate it.

Hope all of you are having decent weather and able to enjoy the warming rays of the sun.

Jackie: Try to take each day as a step towards getting back to normal. It is a slow process but you don't want any setbacks either. I am still not lifting more than 10 pounds or vacuuming. So big, fat cat has to rely on DH to be lifted so she can eat.

Saw my MO yesterday and she was thinking about moving me to annual visits until she saw pathology results of last 3 colonoscopies and October surgery pathology. Due to these, my hx of BC and family hx of colon Ca, she is referring me to a genetics counselor for possible genetic testing. She wants me to discuss repeat colonoscopy in 1 year with my GI MD based on polyp removed in September 2021 but not retrievable for pathologic exam. She also is recommending I do either 7 or 10 years on Exemestane now based on the outcome of a recent study and because I had ILC in BC path reports. I am 5.5 years in on AI's so it is not a stretch and so far SE on Exemestane are manageable. I really feel that she listens to me, and is determined to help me live my best life. So I am back to 6 month visits with her; not a burden but a blessing in my book.

Got EOB for hospitalization and am so glad I have good insurance coverage with Medicare. It doesn't include physician bills for surgeon or anesthesia so they are still unknowns. Difference between what they charge and actual payment they receive is unbelievable. For what they charge for semiprivate room, that was an absolute dump, is more than I would have paid for a posh suite in a 5 star hotel. Even what they got paid was too much in my estimation.

Today started out overcast and gloomy but changed to sun with high winds by afternoon. It has been in the 40's so cold and dips lower overnight. No snow for Christmas predicted which is okay by me.

Taco, that is great!! You are blessed!

At one point I had accumulated 25 years sober, but started having disturbing dreams. I had a few drinks, and realized I really didn't care for the stuff. I still don't drink, and that is just the way I am. Of course, it would mix badly with my meds, so.......

Mary, I have had bad dreams and take a drug called prazosin ordered by my pulmonologist. It is a mild antihypertensive and low dose that is no longer used for treatment of hypertension but very effective for disturbing dreams. I am ordered 1-2 tablets at bedtime but have only ever had to use one. If you are still having them you might want to explore this med.

Betrayal, I was terribly worried that if I would ever drink again, I would lose credibility among people in the recovery groups, and was terribly worried that if I would have one drink, I would immediately black out and emerge from it 12 or 24 hours later, like I did on my last few drunks. Neither fear was justified, but I had to check it out.

As for prazosin, yes, I have taken that, as I also do have PTSD. Which had something to do with my last drunks. In my maturity (except when enthusiastic about electric bicycles), and with the advantage of retirement enabling me to avoid triggering situations (for the most part), the dreams, when they do come, are quite manageable. I should mention, however, that at bedtime I take cyclobenzaprine, arthritis strength acetaminophen, venlafaxine, Benadryl, melatonin, and gabapentin. I usually wake up in the early morning, take my morning pills with coffee, putter around on the internet, and go back to bed to catch another hour. Did I ever tell anyone that I have a sleep problem?

Mary - the end of my drinking days were the nightmare! Sounds like you have reached a comfortable place. Having watched my dad, I'm convinced that one would be all it would take to begin the spiral again.

Yeah, I come from a non-alcoholic home. Only alcoholic known in my family history was a great-grandfather. There were other triggers for my drinking.. I don't want to get into that.

Mary and Taco - no need to share your reason for drinking - non of our business - though we are here to heap on loads of congratulations!!

Been puttering in the house all week - slow and steady. An hour here, an hour there. So far, I've tackled the pantry - and did I find things (non food) that I forgot were there. Many got added to the give away pile. Deep cleaned the baseboards in my bedroom and bathroom and good thorough vacuuming. Today, I organized the hall bathroom linen closet I am giving away several table cloths that have been sitting unused for years. Some were from my childhood so I will have the memories, but someone will get to use them. There were a few things that I just couldn't give away quite yet, though I don't remember them. Many of the tablecloths are 50+ years old and need ironing. Who wants to iron these days - and are pink. DH spent time in the garage and know he can find some of his tools - still tons more to go in the garage. There are cupboards that have stuff in them that is easy to forget about and aren't being used, so time to donate as DH tackles that. I had fun today texting photos of some of my linen closet finds with DD#1.

Denver weather is way too warm for this time of year - low 60s today and 50s tomorrow. The mountains are predicted to get one to two feet of snow, but Denver will be lucky to get a teeny amount of rain. Christmas is definitely brown in Denver. I don't celebrate Christmas, but with this weather it doesn't feel like Christmas, but then again I really don't know what Christmas should feel like.

Wishing all those who celebrate, a happy, healthy and relaxing Christmas. May your holiday be everything you want it to be.

Karen - although many think of Christmas with snow covered pine, one of our most memorable one was spent in Adidome, Ghana. One of the boxes sent to the missionary hospital where Ken was doing an alternate quarter had lots of kids plastic glasses and the little ones were adorable. We have been in desert Arizona since 1997. I do enjoy the Hispanic tradition of luminaries, lighted walkways to welcome baby Jesus in. For years we put candles in small brown paper bags and lite them Christmas Eve. Gotten too hard to do that now but we do enjoy the neighbor's electric ones.

Twice when we went to Debbie's in Maine, we got snowed in for several days. I'll take this.

Merry Christmas to those who are celebrating.

Taco - I have always lived in 4 seasons weather wise. I think when I was in 9th grade (or was it 10th) we went to Miami Beach for winter break. It was sos weird to me to be in "summer" weather at Christmas time. But that said, I lived in cold weather so it was weird. DH and I were talking on our walk this evening about how Christmas is in the summer in the southern hemisphere. I do like seeing other traditions beyond the commercialized American holiday.
