Can we have a forum for "older" people with bc?

I always liked my name. I was named after my grandmother, and we were very close. There weren't ever very many Marys in school with me. I was a teacher for about a zillion years, and taught very few Marys. Lots of Kourtneys, Ashleys, and Kristins, though.

Diamond Lil.. thanks for the update on the angle of injection, I'll need that info when I begin to inject Neupogen at home. If you don't mind, what was your reasoning for using Neulasta instead of Neupogen?
atlbc..We are receiving the exact chemo. I had a really bad reaction and was hospitalized. I am so very much improved but the mo said that it probably was the Taxotere.
Mor..Where did your friend send you to purchase well made headcovers? I'll be bald soon. Hope your session went well.
Asb..I also used Brian Joseph except I only used it for the first day of chemo and 4 days after. Then I got too sick to bother. Hopefully that was enough. Great idea of chemo café...love it.
KatieGrey..My daughter asked about MJ when I had my recent chemo problems. Kaiser's philos. is that they don't endorse it because their policy is that when blood work shows TCH, they no longer will prescribe opiodes. However if this h*** continues I may join the line.
Myra104..I also had a bad reaction to Compazine...I'll ask about the Zanax. Loved your comment re: the sticky roller. Great idea

The true Light is a gentle love which, rising in you,
causes you to look on the world with understanding
and compassion and respect. When you respect the
souls of your brother and sister, you respect their lives
in every way. This gentle spirit, this respect one for
another, must come. For this is the generation of
the one true Light, and this true light is that of love. White Eagle0 -
Hi gals! It's raining here on Cape Coral today so we're going to the big Citrus market in Fort Myers to get some fruit shipped home to family and friends. Then we are going to one of our friends' houses for dinner and a good card game. The friends that I have been referring to in my comments are golfing friends from Illinois who have migrated down to the area for the winter, too. Two are in Fort Myers, one is on Sanibel, and of course we have parked ourselves on Cape Coral. It's just a short drive to all of them.
If the deal goes through on the house we hope to buy, I want to join a golf course so we have a good way to meet other people our age. We would live the winter here and the summer months at home.
As for the fleas, I worried about them. Our cats are house cats but we let them out on the lanai and they love th fresh air. We treated them for fleas before we left and brought more down with us for another dose. One thing I do NOT want is fleas!!!
Everyone have a great day!

Okay... just couldn't resist.!
Haven't heard about the flea circus today.... DD was just very sad, because since she lost her Dog, it was so fun for "Grandma" to be able to tale THEIR new dog out to the park, and for walks! I sent her these jokes and more.... hope those KIDS realize Moxie gets them from EVERYwhere outdoors, and not just in DD's neighborhood!
We really don't have fleas here in Colorado I don't think.... I've never met one...
I'm sure I would know if I had! I think the weather, and the dry heat in the summer makes it uncomfortable for any flea in his right mind, to hang around these parts.0 -
Well Chevy I don't think the brain of a flea is a proper barometer to any straight thinking--I have a feeling they know not where they are, unless they are trained. Which we know is a myth, right. Oh my fleabrain doesn't even know.

We have ALL the bugs in Florida. Little tiny "no-see-ums" all the way to enormous palmetto bugs that you could practically put leashes on and take for walks.
0 -
If your animal goes outside, you just have to use flea treatment on a regular basis. There are treatments that last for a month; that's what they should have for their dog.
MaryLW, It was the same in Houston, including the palmetto bugs. We called them tree roaches, but they're the same thing.

Ah MAN! I just looked them up! I thought tomato worms were bad.... Well, yes they are! And those little Lizards that run rampant at Daughter's house! And oh, those little Love-bug rascals! And the fire-ants! DD told me one time, that they "live in a petrie-dish!" It's just kind of funny, that Grand-sons girl-friend is so anal about fleas! And the thought that they only live in one yard/house! She must be clueless... Oh well.... Maybe she will grow up. I'M not saying a word...

I just had to uninstall iTunes, and 4 things that went along with it... And re-install the whole thing AGAIN! I kept getting a prompt.... something about "Runtime Error" and I couldn't even open my iTunes.... But seems to be working now.... I am not prepared for extra thinking today!

The talk of Daytona reminds me of going to camp out in the Daytona infield with all the other "wild" teens around '67. I had already graduated the previous year and moved out but my father the policeman's influence was still strong. He would never have approved but I went anyway and felt guilty the whole time. We never watched the cars. Too busy flirting with the boys and listening to music. Never drank or got into any situations Daddy wouldn't have liked. Darn it.

It's sure not here in south Texas. San Antonio has been below freezing all week.

Here's a cartoon from my Breast Implant Sizing 101 thread. Thought you'd like to see my picture these days.

Chevy, So sorry. Been there and it took me ten years to get another. It's so hard but the only kind thing to do. Thinking of you.

Yesterday we went out and gathered yucca stalks for broom handles and walking sticks. As always it was so silent in the desert. DD goes to in for treatment on Feb. 10th. I really hope it does some good but I have my doubts. DGD is doing good, does not want to go back to her Mom. Nothing yet on home study for us. We have had her in our home for 13 years of her 15 years on this earth. In Fl. we have no rights.
I still think we should jack hammer the state of FL off of the US and let it go to Cuba. I have never seen
so many people so unprofessional. It makes the problems in Texas seem like nothing.
Oh Well enough of my soap box.
Rabbit, please take care of yourself. It is a long hard roll. I kept bottles of water by my bed and everytime I woke up I drank, I even woke DH up to get me more water. I know how hard it was to eat. I started eating things that I loved during my childhood. That worked out great.
Hugs to all

Sandra that is so funny---
Mommarch I wish we could really help u, this has to be so difficult--and I really thought the states had reciprocity when it came to family especially grandparents, So I guess I have a hard time understanding this. Cuz this is affecting everybody for sure.

Mommarch saying prayers that the state of FL realizes what good grandparents you and your DH are and get some sense into them to let your DGD come to stay with you. ((((HUGS))))

Morning gals! Yes Sandra... Wasn't it fun to flirt? I don't think they even call it that anymore... Maybe something more sinister like.... "let's do him!" But that's how I met my DH.... See, I was driving my Dad's '51 Buick, F-263 series engine, complete with it's high compression ratio, and high horsepower.. .... with 2 other gals..
So we cruise into the Frosted Scotchman, one night, sitting down low in our seats, because that was "cool"..... sloooooooowly driving in front of all the other cars.... and pulling around to park right next to this even COOLER blue '51 OLDSMOBILE, Rocket 88, with skirts, and this CUTEST Elvis Presley looking guy DRIVING it... !!!!
So we looked at each other, with my eye-lashes flapping back and forth, and he said.... "Big car ya got there!".... And me, never at a loss for words, said "I'm a big girl!"
And that was in 1955... Still together! Ha, ha!
Sandra, I sent that cartoon about Spring to everyone in my address book...! And I LOVE the other one with the gal in front of the mirror!
Thank you Jo... I know.... I just don't even want to think about getting another puppy now... Still trying to find homes for her big dog-house, and kennel we got when we first got her... The Vet sent me a card... That was really sweet...
Thinking of you Mommarch... and your DD and DGD! That just HAS to make a difference, with the amount of years you have had her!
It's okay to rant... we all do it... It really IS unfair in Florida! Can you take that problem even HIGHER than you have? Maybe even to a TV station, or an open letter in your newspaper?
I know GrandParents DO have certain rights... keep fighting for her!
Hope you are feeling better Rabbit!
Cammi, I was going to say something about that word you used... like
"reciprocity" ... Is that a cross between Cipro and some town? Did you just make that up? You DID, I just KNOW it!But I won't say a word....

Ohly HIS was blue... and had skirts... And he had the heat-risers blocked, and THAT thing made more noise than 10 Harleys going down the road!
He got so many tickets for loud pipes, that he lost his license, and we had to go to court to get his license back, 2 days after we got married!

Chevyboy --- now THAT's a car!
If I won a huge lottery, I'd become a collector of '50s classics.

Oh Chevy I love u'r "love" story and wow for that car--quite a trollup u were/are "Well I'm a big girl" what a line.Like it--then did u tell him how much or flat rate? Yes I do make up a lot of words for myself and spread them around and sometimes they're actually used again, then they become words. I don't think I made that one up tho. Remember I worked for the GOVERNMENT where things are made up daily, then forgotten about daily.
I enjoy reading about other people's life were before and what and who they were to make them what they are now, everyone is really so interesting in what they tell about themselves and the beauty of memories.

Golly mommarch.....I would be so frustrated with Florida as well. I know there are probably a law or two we are not aware of from other places, but I feel it is so highly unusual to negate/not give huge credit to how long you took care of your DGD. Also, wondering if they even bother to ask DGD where she would like to be. I mean I feel at her age she should be given a great deal of consideration for what she might feel comfortable with in the situation. Sigh !!!!! Guess that is why I'm not a child advocate.
Chevy, I too like your story about cars and meeting your special fella'. I did a ton of flirting when I was young but just didn't date much......it was the thrill of the chase for me I guess, but I really was a very shy and un-sure type and didn't want it to go too far.
We may have some rain later. A bit of snow in the rain, but I think more rain. Just hope we don't have an ice patch.
Got to run......I'll check with you all later.
Blessings, Jackie

Chevy, My BIL worked for the Calif highway dept most of his adult life. He changed his home answering machine to say he was OK and out inspecting bridges. Took days to get a call through. I also remember a TV station broadcasting in the dark with someone holding lights, probably camera lights. Every time there was an aftershock they would clutch the table between them and you could tell they were trying to decide whether to run or continue with the broadcast. My in-laws were also in the big Alaska quake. FIL was known for being unflappable, so we all laughed to hear he had jumped out of the shower, ran naked into the living room, and said without expression, "Well that's about the worst earthquake I care to be in." MIL said they cooked over the fireplace and ate like kings. First the most expensive food in the freezer, then the next most expensive and so on.

Wren! Mom worked on the SFOBB in the toll offices! And she was just in shock at the damage.... ! They took me for a ride the next time I visited, over that one highway that fell on the lower deck... It was just "cut-off!" Like they were repairing it.... but just to hit that dead-end was unbelievable. He ran out of the shower? That is funny NOW, but I know it wasn't THEN! After THAT one, they weren't afraid of the little ones anymore! They lived across the Bay in Richmond at the time! So they weren't in the worst of it... We were watching the game, when that happened.... and it was quite awhile before we could get a connection to them.... So SCARY!!!

FoxyMary..... Yes.... We bought a 57' Chevy Bel-air, hard-top in 1961.... DH changed the transmission from automatic to 4 on the floor! And he even raced it at CDR raceway.... (when he was crazier)..... But it was such a BEAUTIFUL car.... Sold it to his Nephew, when he lost interest in re-building it....

This was our car.... We named our first dog "Chevy"....
