Hi everyone, remember me the one who cn't type or spell according to one very well known person who has a name ike a car.

Sandra I love u'r avatar, I hope u feel as good as it looks.

Welcome to the newbies--this is a great place so I hope u get back here often. A wonderful group of ladies who know a lot about so much (not me) but everyone else does and fun too.

I didn't ketchup on all the posts, sorry---I can't say I'm to to busy with work, but I know I'm getting lazier, but I am getting lots of calls and can't understand a lot of them as usual, yes Chevy even with the speaker on--some people are just un-understandable--is that a word? Well it is now.

Jackie u always say the perfect thing to everyone, what a kindhearted person u are.

Teka all that snow? U must be way up north, like across the street from Canada.

Carole I see u'r all snuggled in for thr winter, yea right u'r winter ha let Teka talk to u abot winter. And it's ben in the 30's here, I know Jackie will say it's much warmer in IL but not here. U sound good Carole.

We're celebrating one side of the family Christmas this Sat. cuz some of them will be in FL--we about 40 people so I might bring a 3 bean salad which Teka was nice enough to share with me. I never know from day to day what I should do but don't LOL

Joey is actually doing better with the clarinet, the dog doesn't howl anymore but the cat runs like hell. And he loves walking behind me still playing the theme from Jaws-it always gets me, he's not ready to give it up yet, cuz his parents tell him OH u've gotten so much better, oh yea--his squeeking is down, but let's face it he has no talent for music, he's tone deaf. See how parents lie to their kid, not me I tell him if he really doesn't like it to tell them so now he loves it.--Brat--I sound terrible but u all know how I am. SoChevy don't judge me, Miss Pole dancer, I don't judge you. Well at least not one on one. But I know u'r sleeping now.

Oh wow I'm tired, OK I hope to be back soon. And everyone is doing well or better at least.

Just dropping in to say hi.  I've been under the weather - but finally was diagnosed with multiple pulmonary embolisms and anemia.  It's the pits, but knowing what is wrong is the first step to recovery.  :)  Hubby now is giving me two shots a day and I can walk across the room without feeling like I'm going to pass out - which is a pleasant change after the last couple of months, and tomorrow I pick up an iron supplement for the anemia.  Anyway, hi to all.  Happy late Thanksgiving and a merry early Christmas.  I'm going to bed now (for the third time - hope it works this time....  :)

I hope everyone is doing well.  :)

What did she say? The dog is playing the Clarinet? And the cat is tone-deaf? The Clarinet? Well, maybe better than getting that kid a drum-set! That's what they got my Brother when he was about 5... And that was about 70 years ago, and that guy is STILL playing the drums! But he is famous for that, just like I am with the Pole! Ha, ha!

Just been so down with Asthma & Bronchitis... got a lot of "stuff" to take care of it, and now I think DH is getting that sore throat that mine started out with. Now THAT is serious! I mean seriously gals.... When men get sick, man, they are in the throes of everlasting complaining....

I just go do the Nebulizer, spray that Inhaler, do those nasal rinses, nose sprays, take those pills, without nary a complaint... That means I would rather be sick than my Husband.... It must be a virus going around... we usually don't catch anything from each other... but not this time. (Cough-cough)

Blondie, you have the Shingles still? That's just awful.... I've heard they are soooooo painful! I won't complain about my stuff anymore....

Cammi, I'm so happy for you going out to parties! Just like old times, eh? Are you the one bringing the weed? And the Jamieson, like in school?

EYE know! Wear your black poodle skirt, and your saddle-oxfords with the rolled down socks! xoxo

We all share beauty.  It strikes us indiscriminately.  There is no end to beauty for the person who is aware.  Even the cracks between the sidewalk contain geometric patterns of amazing beauty.  If we take pictures of them and blow up the photographs, we realize we walk on beauty every day, even when things seem ugly around us.

Oh my, lots to catch up on here.  Sweet Cammi -- great to see you.  We really miss your teasing cheerfulness when you are under the weather or busy with your job.  Your party ( early ) sounds fantastic. Sometimes I think it would be so great to spread the holiday out a bit more -- but really -- I look on every day God lets me live as a rather special holiday ( since after dx. and txs. )  so I am not the one to say because it is spread out for me in that way.

GG -- can I say WOW here!!!!!  You must have been TRULY draggin'.   Multiple embolisms plus anemia seems like an awful lot together -- in fact, it sounds like a huge amt. separately.  I sure hope your meds and txs get you picked back up and feeling better -- sooner rather than later.  I know the iron will take a bit.  Good vibes and positive energies are coming your way.

    Blessings

Oh my gosh, Teka! That's a lot of snow! I'll be real generous today and just let you keep it in NY. Wow! How long does it usually take after a storm like this to regain power?

Well, this clutz did a really stupid thing yesterday. I was hurrying to get ready to get in the car and drive 2 hours to a funeral and the curling iron slipped out of my hand and landed on my cheek on its way to the cabinet. I have an aloe plant and put aloe on it right away. I pulled over to a McDonald's about 1 mile down the road and got a cup of coffee and a cup of ice which I kept on it the rest of the way. I have a nice brown mark on my cheek today and sure hope it doesn't leave a scar. I've been trying to keep it moist with antibiotic cream. It really looks bad. I realize that we've all been through much worse and it's nothing in the grand scheme of things but I sure don't want a scar. That will teach me to take more time. Gosh, you can't let me near any dangerous toys anymore! :-)

I still haven't got my car back. I think I'll call this afternoon and see how work is progressing on it.

Hi cami....so good to hear from you. You and Chevy give us a good chuckle when you get going!
    Come back more often!

Rita, Good luck with the burn. I ironed my arm once, used the ice all day and it didn't leave a scar. It did contribute to my dislike of ironing.

Teka, Glad you got your power back - and that you had a generator. That is a lot of snow. I hope your area has good snowplows.

Yikes, Rita, it hurt to hear about your curling iron accident.

The snow is gorgeous, Teka.  Glad your power is back on.

We had another lovely day, though a bit cool.  I think the high was low 60's.  It was sunny all day.  I went to the gym with dh this morning.  Did some grocery shopping for my mother and took her to her hair apptment.  Later went back to the same supermarket to pick up a few things for us.  Now I'm sitting in my comfortable chair and feeling drowsy.  That was my day!  No complaints.

Hope you feel your best soon, Chevy.

    Hi to everyone.

Okay, after a long day I am back.  Had to do all the morning chores here -- Dh had a bout of intestinal flu type behaviors around 2 a.m. -- so from then until I awoke and got up this morning he kept a path open to the master bathroom.  After that, I went to work until 1 p.m.  Then went and picked up my no longer driving friend ( she kept me going thru chemo and txs. and never let me even much think of quitting like I wanted too a couple of times ) so when she says she needs something --- I'm there quick as I can get there.  Was helping her from !p.m. to 5 p.m. --- we had a quick sandwich and glass of wine and I got home about 5:50 p.m.  Put away a couple of things, then got the dog dishes filled and went out and fed them. Heated up a cup of coffee and headed in here to the computer.  I'm bushed.

Teka -- brrrr.  and so glad you have that generator.  I do like snow, but that is just a bit much for one snowfall.  I'm sure glad you have your power on once more.  Hope you and Dh don't have to go out if you don't want too.

Rita -- some days it would be nice just to stay in bed, huh !!!!  I too hope you can get by without a scar.  We all get by if we have them, but then I'm thinking most of mine are nowhere near my face.  I do think  cold does a lot for burns -- in fact, it will take some of the burn sensations totally away.  Also I'm thinking some moisture would be good too.  I know some people would hesitate with this remedy but I've had good luck with Preparation H .  Sure hope it will come out fine.  I have an instant on curling iron and I never turn it any higher than 4.  It will go up to ten but at that level of heat you start taking it out the minute you have your curl completed.

Carole -- 60 sounds like a heat wave here though the past couple of days have not been so bad.  It is mainly ok as it is only gray -- no rain or snow -- but I'm hoping for a full day of sun tomorrow.  This gray just has to go -- please.

Well, I'm going to finish up here -- get into pj's and toss myself in my recliner.  I'm a little pooped.  I didn't work that hard --  it is just too many gray days in a row.

See you all in the morning.

    Blessings

    Jackie

GardenGumby, I've been wondering where you were. Several of you Seattle area girls have been MIA lately. Multiple pulmonary embolisms!!! Your illness is frightening! Did they hospitalize you? Are you on blood thinners? Then anemia on top of that. Oh dear. Hope you are better soon. Di has been battling anemia too. Something in the water up there?

Rita, sounds like you are doing everything you can to prevent a scar from your burn. I've burned by forehead and ear before while using a curling iron, but yours sounds really painful.

Teak, look at that snow! It's so pretty. Of course just a single flake here in San Antonio and the whole city would shut down.

My daughter is going to be driving home from Chicago next week so I'm praying she gets decent weather.

Busy day here too. With my final surgery coming up next week and my daughter due in from Chicago, housework plus all Christmas preparations have to be done early. I scrubbed walls, baseboards and floors, took the Christmas cards I finished last night to the post office, cleaned out the fridge and washed all the Tupperware, and started wrapping Christmas gifts. The floor in the laundry room was still wet and as I passed through to go to the garage, I slipped and did a nice octopus imitation as I hit the floor...all my considerable weight on my knee. Don't think there was any great damage done. All that fat comes in handy sometimes. My back is unhappy from all the airborne contortions I did to try to stop the fall so I'll baby it a bit tonight and take a Valium to relax the muscles. I'm now settled in the recliner with the prerequisite kitty and blanket, ready to dive into one of the books next to my chair.

Blondie, hope you get some relief from your shingles soon. With everything else you have going on, you have to catch a break! I know you must be miserable. Cammi, we miss you. Post more often. We count on you and Chevy to keep us laughing. Chevy, your kitty with the bent ear is cute. Hope you are feeling better soon too.

Yeah, I was draggin - still am to be honest, but getting better slowly - at least I can walk across the room now.  Our trip to Costco today was a bit of a challenge, but I figure I best keep movin.  I do wish I knew what caused the anemia.  I'm fairly certain the letrozole caused the blood clots, but since this is my third episode with them, I'm afeared they are gonna put me on rat poisin permanently.  :(  Right now it's just the shots, then the doctor visits - you know, the same old same old.  :(

Unfortunately, all is not beauty and peace.  I don't believe I've ever met
a person who hasn't been challenged or wounded by something.  Difficulties
present choices:  we can either waste away from our wounds or use them to
grow our souls.  My husband, for example, is a survivor of the Second World
War.  As a child, he suffered through six years of bombings, near-escapes,
and concentration camps.  Part of his soul work has been the gradual
transformation of this deep well of grief and pain.  As he heals himself, he
also participates in healing that terrible idea of war in others.  I have always
said that no one heals alone--we heal through and for one another.

Hugs for GG and the upcoming surgery Sandra -- high hopes and lots and lots of positive energies sent out to the Universe to arrive to each person who has good use of them.

Thought a bit about the quote today -- it though was the part about the growing of our soul that got to me.  It is in fact, what I so often feel and say --- that we don't learn all that much from our victories and good times.  Most of the time that is what we expect -- and while we might cherish them as "positive" in our life --- we don't expand much since it is what was definitely supposed to happen.

It really is the things that hurt, upset, or throw us into a negative situation big time that help us grow -- hopefully stronger, bigger and better than we were before.  When our response to these negative items is good ( positive ) in some way -- then we do grow and add more to our spiritual dimension and to me --- that is WHAT we are here for.  We don't learn so much about who we are and how much we can grow and change in the humdrum ordinary  daily things we do to keep going -- I mean what did you really learn today by balancing your check-book or going to the store, or sweeping your porch for the millionth time -- how well did you grow.

Have this diagnosis, the loss of a loved one, a very serious accident, difficult depression, or so many other things and it will be your ability to find a solution that works for you and doesn't tear you apart -- and even more your understanding and acceptance about shining your LIGHT through these things so that you can spread hope and inspiration to others who maybe are not quite yet as far as long as you.

Anyway -- I think not a lot of sun today but sure hope some comes.   Maybe some more tomorrow.  Does sound like rain on Monday.  I did hear on  the news that Ventura County ( I lived in Ventura a long time ) is now getting too much rain after their long drought and are having mudslides.   I did not hear much for Ventura mentioned but much of what is right next door -- Camarillo, Santa Paula, etc. is being affected.  That is always a danger there due to often having the huge wildfires, especially when there has not been enough rain.  Hope everyone makes it through.

    Blessings,

    Jackie

Jackie, once again you seem to sense what we need to hear. I had never thought about it, but you are right. We don't learn much from victory but boy, do we learn from the negative things that cross our path. Thank you for giving me a big idea to ruminate on today.

    Good Morning ladies.

OMG catastrophies (yes Chevy, I know the speling is wrong), sickness. WTF--I'm having trouble with my F key, the one I use the most.

GG please don't push u'rself, not with all this going on just wait til u really start eeling better. U have a double whammy going on. (((HUGS)))

Blondie (((HUGS))) to u too with those awful shingles, I truly hope they just leave u and quickly.

Teka I love the way "some people" who hardly ever see snow tell u how lovely it looks. Sorry but that much is awful and so glad u have a generator, more people around here are getting them too.

Rita so sorry about the burn on u'r face, but I've done that too and what I used was the inside jelly of Vitamin E and I've never had a scar--well it started to scar and it completely went away. Remember the recipe for the Peach fluff, well for one of these parties I'm making it again, it's so easy and everyone loved it before. But I'm going to add an extra can of peach filling

Jackie I always love u'r quotes (well u know some are my very own, by now) but u really think thru them, but this time I have to say the only thing that has grown is my body and what wisdom I come up with I forget the next day. But u always make them so thinkable.Happy

Sandra what are u doing? alling before surgery, why are u doing so much? OMG girl keeping busy is one thing, but harming u'rself is so different. Please take it easy.

Chevy I'm sorry u'r not feeling well and just hope u'r DH doesn't catch it. Why are u slobbering all over him all the time. Leave the poor man alone so he doesn't catch anything. I realize u can't go out to make a few (and I mean a few) extra bucks now if u'r sick, but don't take u'r talents to u'r husband right now, leave him alone.

My DD just cut my hair (trimmed) it's gotten so long and she's saying no one in this house is supposed to have longer hair than me, I was a little scared there, but she left it for length and just shaped it. But she talked to my cat and the dog came bounding in and was not happy so the 2 of them were circling my chair and distracting her--whew I'm glad she didn't  go screwy on me. She's studying like mad, now she into all the medical jargon for all rashes and skin related diseases--I actually recognized some of the diseases, Yes Chevy ME--but there are so many, where the hell did all of these come from. Well all I'm interested in is if she will be able to rid me of wrinkles---but I realize when people love u they see u differently cuz she said I don't have enough of them to let me come in as a model at one point.  I thought she just doesn't want to bother at first then I think it was love cuz Joey said the same thing. Believe me I have wrinkles--darn brats.

See U'r not so glad I'm back are u? I ramble about nothing---but now I have to make a list for my DD what to buy at the store or what I'm bringing tomorrow--please say a prayer that I'll be able to go. U know or me it's day to day here, I don't mind going with pain, but my D stops me. so I'll try to do the dry day, crackers and toast. Yea I know I throw something else in.

I'm so happy to have Cami back. And sorry to hear we have some who are feeling sick before the holidays. I'm in a bit of hurry today, but wanted to give you all a little more information about the bra fitting in case you have never taken advantage of it.

I've been fitted for Bras over the years, but it is always measure me and then ask what did I see that I would like to try. I think I got the right size usually, but not the right bra for me. This mastectomy/lumpectomy trained sweet fitter brought the ones she knew would work best for me. Education pays. I had no idea what an "M" frame bra was, but I should have been wearing one for about 55 years now with or without surgery. All the ones she let me try on were perfect and I probably could have skipped the "shell" to put in the pocket once I had the right bras. But she encouraged me to try a minimal shell and that was even better. If you have not done this I would encourage you to. By the way, if you are on medicare they allow 3 bras at first, and 3 more after three months if I need them. And on and on…They also paid for the shell, which is costly. If the bras cost more than medicare allows, then my supplement insurance should pay for them. And so…why would my male radiologist offer breast reduction surgery instead of explaining this to me. I'll be educating him soon. Happy Day to you all.

    Hello everyone!

Sandra...It looks like Illinois is expecting rain on Monday and Tuesday but nothing worse so maybe your daughter will have good travel days. I always worry about the weather and travelling. We are heading to TN on the 23rd for Christmas so we'll keep a close watch on the weather, too. Sending you good vibes for your surgery!

Cammi....The peach fluff is always a favorite at our house. I will be anxious to hear how it tastes with the extra peaches. I am SO GLAD that you are back.

Jackie..I am with you! This gloomy, overcast weather has just got to go! It's detrimental to our moods! Hope Denny is feeling better. We have had lots of cases of flu here already this winter.

Chevy, I hope you are feeling better, too!

Our ladies' golf league has its Christmas party tonight. We all bring a grab bag gift and a snack to share and have a good couple of hours enjoying the food and the good company......and whining about the weather that keeps us off the golf course! :-) I have been lazy this year. I am just cutting up salami and cheese and grabbing some Ritz crackers. I also have some homemade caramel corn that I'm taking. We will have more food than we will ever be able to eat!

Oh gardengumby. I am so sorry that you are dealing with blood clots. My thoughts are with you and I'm sending you healing vibes!

    Hugs to all of you....

    Rita

While on our way to the movie this afternoon (Theory of Everything about Stephen Hawking) my tongue discovered a big chunk was missing out of one of my teeth. I'll call my dentist on Monday and have him take a look at it, hope I don't need a crown.

The movie was very good, the actor does an awesome job with the role, he was nominated this morning for a Golden Globe.

Sandra, my mom had one of those, fill washer, put clothes through the ringer, empty tub, fill again and rinse, through the ringer again. Clothes froze outside in the winter. Never dried through. Bring clothes in and hang all over the house. Everything really wrinkled. All had to be ironed

Puffin -- did you enjoy that movie???

Sailing Wind -- your entry could have been written by me.  My house had a really long living room -- front door was closer to one end and clothes would be hung in the living room in worst part of winter.  Coming from anywhere ( at my age, usually school ) we had to pick our way through the clothes so as to avoid furniture while finding doorways into the other rooms.  A maize in your own living room that you had to traverse for all other rooms since they all were OFF the living room.

    Hi all,

Rita, so sorry about your burn, they are so painful. I was on a date when I was probably 17 and it was winter in Iowa, we came home to find the ironing board and a flat iron out side in the snow. My Mom had been ironing and bottom of the iron blew out. She was lucky, no burn.

Sandra, my Mom had one of those also, she would not let us girls get near it. She was afraid that we would get out hand in the wringer.

We had a good day today. DH went to the Dr. and his blood sugar is going down with the insulin and diet change. He had been so bad for to long. We went to a thrift shop in Alpine and everything in the store was 50% off. They had a set of living room furniture in a south west pattern of green,. burgandy and tan it was a couch, love seat, big square chair, foot stool and table for $175.00. We got it for $82.50. The catcher was that it was covered in cat hair. We worked at least 3 or 4 hours on it. Still have 3 cushions to finish in the morning. It is great. Our furniture was really getting bad. I told DH that I guess God wanted us to find this today. DD wants our old furniture, so we will probably take it to them sometime after the first of the year.

Hope everyone is doing as well as can be

    Hugs
