Quiet here!
Jackie, I did make those healthy vegetables in an egg-white omelette. I am always experimenting. I cooked the vegetables first, then stirred the eggs in a pan to half-cook them. I poured them into a deep dish, added the vegetables, some mounds of goat cheese and topped with some parmesan grated with gluten-free crumbs. I also stirred in a few tablespoons of pancake batter - amazingly it sank to the bottom and made a thin crust. (baked for 30 minutes)... I surprised myself. I cut it into wedges and take it to work every day.I worked Monday but left at 1 PM - easy trip home on slick roads. Night classes canceled and no work for two more days. I am completely relaxed...we fed the birds some extra seed...they were packing it in before the storm. I cooked a big pot of chili and watched tennis and reality TV. Maybe I'll sort through some photos today and do some mending.
Jackie, I don't remember the song you mentioned - did you google? I am a huge oldies fan and love most pop music. My mom also played Broadway, big bands and classical so I was exposed to a lot of things I still love. I'm with Blondie - I don't love folk but can appreciated the times.
(((Blondie))), my friend, that is one heck of a slow recovery ahead of you. One step at a time....I guess you get to stay put while the roads are being cleared. I hope you are not in too much discomfort.
(((Sandra, thinking of you & Mike))). I hope today is a good day for you both.
I found out on FB that my DD from Boston is in San Antonio and missing the storm...I guess she will be "stuck" there until flights can get into the northeast - but San Antonio is a wonderful place to spend extra time. Her husband still lives with them; and he is more than capable of holding down the fort with the girls.OK ... when I went to bed, it was blowing snow, but there were a few inches ... when I awoke at 5 AM my deck was filled with snow and drifts up to the door handles. It's still snowing and blowing...they are downsizing the storm on the news, but I'd wait until it's over.

Was it on here, that one of us gals had her Credit/Debit card "read" while it was in her posession? I'll post this link anyway... because it happened to me like 4 years ago!
http://www.dailyfinance.com/2011/02/08/rfid-skimme...
http://blog.refactortactical.com/rfid-theft-and-ho...
If this happens to you, that means someone has ALL of your information... Your name, SS#, and if it is not caught in time, can clean out your checking account before you even realize it! They make small charges first, to see if they go through, and if THAT works, then like with mine, they buy Airline tickets, and email your card # to their friend in Florida, where THEY charge MORE airline tickets.
Mastercard called me one night and asked if my name was "Chevy"... (not really) and if it was press "1"... I thought WTH?? So that's how I found all this out! They cancelled my card, and that was only the beginning. You have to tell your local Police Dept. because someone is using your identity... You have to notify l the Credit Reporting Agencies, SS department, to put a "watch" on your SS #, go to your bank, and secure all of your information, and keep that on file, and THEN notify the IRS, because they send you another "code" every year to send in with your W2 forms!
THEN, about 3 months later CapitalOne called to ask if I was trying to open a new charge-line! The same people who stole my identity were trying to establish another line of credit with my name... and yes, they used my SS# also. So now I carry the Police report I filed, in case some felon with my info. gets stopped.
All you have to do is either not carry your card/cards, or put them in one of those aluminum cases, in your purse... OR make your own case, with aluminum foil around some sort of pouch... I just don't carry mine, unless I HAVE to. Just keep a little extra cash at home.... and when you go out stick some in your purse. We never pay for gas with my Debit card... Just be careful....
BLONDIE! So good to hear from you! And JOAN! Eeeeeeeeks! Oh Wow, that looks so dangerous!
Morning Jackie, and all you gals! I just wanted to post about that Identity Theft thing, because it can happen so FAST, without you even knowing! We were just out shopping, carrying my purse over my shoulder, and someone must have been either sitting in the Mall, or walking by, and in a second, they can "read" your card, and steal all of your information.

Mornin all
Hope all that were hit with this bad weather are doing okay. It is gloomy and yucky here in Charlotte SC, but thankfully no ice or snow. Please be careful if you need to leave your house.
Nothing much new here except he cruise has been deleted and a trip to Disney is in it's place. Either trip, my "job"is to watch Lucia during her afternoon nap and then be there when she goes to bed so my DS and DIL can go out for dinner or whatever. This is no problem for me because I can't walk Disney from 9am till 10pm. Even on the cruise, I have no interest in going to one of the night spots. Even if I was with others, that memory belongs to and with my DH and I don't think I could handle being there without him. For most of the days on cruises, I would sit and read, and he would either explore the ship or be in the cabin napping. We would check in every hour or so, and he would sometimes nap in the chair next to me, but from dinner on, we were together till bedtime, which even then was rarely later than 10
Thinking of you Sandy & Mike and Blondie

Sunny morning here after a bit of snow dusting yesterday. Warming and we are rapidly turning to mud -- SIGH !!!!! Have to rush out to work but I did look up that name Joan and the song " The Cheater " was done by Bob Cuban and the In Men. It was his one and only hit -- a fairly big one, but nothing came after no matter how hard he tried so in awhile it became a thing where he was playing one nighters in clubs. He was really talented, but some things are not meant to be I guess.
Off to work, but I'll be back later.
Thinking of you all and especially those on the East coast.
Blessings,
Jackie

Chevy.. I have heard of that happening with the cards before.. Very scary for you...gosh.. The lengths some people will go too.!!
Joan.. Your omelette sounds wonderful. and I love the photo of the snow on your deck. No snow ever where I'm from.. We're stuck in the middle of a very long humid summer this year.. Ugh... Thank goodness for airconditioning.
Blondie.. Have been thinking of you x

Good info, Chevy. I have a wallet with credit card and license slots that block scanning. (Got it from QVC) I can't imagine how that must have been for you-I think we all carry our "lives" in our purses. I did have Amazon call me last month-seems someone was trying to use my card to pay for their car insurance. They declined the charge and sent me a new card. Funny thing is that it is one card I never carry with, and I only use it for my .99 kindle books. Don't know how that happened.

Joan, oh my, look at all the snow! It's so pretty! Oh course, all I have to do is look at it so I suppose you and all the others who have to live and work in it don't feel the same way.
Blondie, having to move to another facility has got to be upsetting. You are handling it with a lot of grace and I admire you.
This was a good day. Mike ate some breakfast - that's huge since he hardly eats anymore. He is in good spirits. The antibiotics are working and things are moving along. This was day 5 in the hospital and he will probably be there two more days. They want to get negative blood cultures for 48 hours. Then they will "top him off" with another blood transfusion before he is released. For 25 years we have gone to a friends house for Super Bowl so Mike is determined to be healthy enough to go. Today I cancelled our cruise that we booked last fall. Fortunately I'd bought trip insurance so it will be a little bit of a hassle and take some time, but most of the cost will be refunded. Next year we hope to take a Victory Cruise and take a whole bunch of folks with us to celebrate.

That's GREAT news Sandra! I'm just HAPPY for you guys!
Beans! So do you have an Amazon card? It must have happened "on-line" right? Was it something within Amazon? It had to be, if you don't carry that card??
I'm always wondering about on-line purchases... When I order it's usually through Pay-Pal, and in turn out of my checking account... Same as using my Debit card to buy things online.... But you always wonder about how safe it really is!
I don't keep as much in my checking anymore... My SS check and Pension goes into my checking, so I'm always checking, and moving it over to my savings. But I don't carry my Debit card with me, unless I am going to use it... And we don't have any credit cards.... I don't carry a check-book either, because one time I had my purse snatched right off my shoulder walking to my car at a shopping center. A truck pulled up, and the guy reached out, and grabbed my shoulder strap, and just drove off!!!
I was hanging on, and screaming, and trying to run along with the truck, but he got it anyway!.... Another gal saw this.... followed him.... got the License plate, and they later got him, but of course no purse... nothing.
I had to go down & try and identify pictures in a book... And I didn't think I could...because I only saw the back of his raggedy old head... But I picked one out, and said this looks like the back of his head... And it was HIM! He had been arrested 6 other times for "theft" but this time it was "robbery" because I hurt my shoulder/arm, trying to hang onto my purse, while his truck was pulling me along. It was so long ago... It was in 1999, and I remember because my Dad had just died, and I always carried his little black comb in my purse... just to have something of his with me... I had combed his hair in the hospital his last night .... And I lost that comb.....
I didn't have to go to trial.... They said I didn't need to... I was just so afraid that when he got out, he would come after me, because he HAD all of my information from my purse!
I don't know what happened with that case..... It's like the purse didn't matter as much .... not even the $12.... or all my information, and license.... It was that comb.

It is a nice morning here -- mainly as the sun is shining. Di, hope you check in -- and that the flu hasn't gotten you down. Chevy, that is such a touching story and I bet everyone here can relate in some way to something that has been "lost" in some way that is for us an immense treasure. My Mom passed away in 1998 and I still look for the guest book that people sign when they go to the wake. I don't know why something ( a little odd ) should matter so much to me. Maybe because it is a written record of all the people who cared about her.
Mom was so much to others and so very much to me and yet every time I peek into a closet or box I haven't looked into for a long time --- I feel an urge to concentrate on discovering that book. I have been tortured for 17 yrs. about where that book ended up. Maybe I'll never know. Sigh !! So, I do know exactly what it feels like not to have a comb. That was such a horrible way to lose it too.
People ( like the guy who took your purse ) don't realize what they actually take from us.
I don't carry credit cards or even a debit card. I've really thought about getting one as many times I come up a bit short of cash and no way to get more till the bank is open. In part, I worry about forgetting ( if I use it ) to make the deduction from my check-book. Rare, but I've forgotten to do that a time or two without a debit card. Little slips of paper can disappear ( thinking of dh's many oops ) and so all this time I've avoided this possible life complication for myself. I also seldom purchase things on line. Dh is good at it, but I'm so un-techy that I don't feel at ease about it. Well, I have been late to the self discovery of everything new -- even the computer. We didn't have one till we moved back home here which is in fact going on 18 yrs. now. I spent my first 5 or so yrs. using it waiting for it to actually explode I think. Electronic things -- especially the ones that need a satellite in the sky -- will I think always remain a mystery to me. I have though gotten almost toooo comfy with my computer.
I hope you are all going to have a good day. I will be here off and on as I will be stuck in the house with some projects that just can't wait any longer.
Blessings
Jackie
Hugs to Blondie, Sandra & Mike.

Sandra, So happy to hear that Mike is doing so well! Nothing but good thoughts coming your way!!
Chevy, that certainly had to be a frightening experience. I should be more careful with my purse. I need to leave some things at home and just take my license and cash, but.....I feel naked without the big tote!
Keep warm and safe!! It's 8 degrees here, but blue skies prevail!!

I went to the cemetery today to take pictures, and got locked in the mausoleum! I had locked the door behind me, figuring I didn't want anyone coming in behind me who didn't have their own key. When I was ready to leave, I couldn't get the key to unlock any of the 3 doors, and then my key got stuck in the last door and I couldn't get it out. I had my phone with, and surprise, it was even charged. I called the cemetery office and got the answering machine and left a message to have someone come and let me out. After 10" I managed to get the door open, then couldn't get it to lock behind me so I called the office and left another message that I'd gotten out but they still needed to send someone to lock up the building. So, I learned 2 things: always make sure I have a charged cell phone with me in the mausoleum, and don't bother locking the door when I go in, that was too scary not to be able to get out.

I've been away for a long time and had quit getting notices of postings! I had a hard time getting to this topic again and need to catch up !
We went to see my daughters kids in Tx for Christmas, and while there I had a major Tachycardia episode. Decided I shud go tot he ER and they discovered a small pulmonary embolism. They put me on Xeloda which really scared me, as if you have any major bleeding while on it, there is no way to stop it! When I returned home I switched to Coumadin and am trying to find the level I need to take. Clot appears to be gone, but have had another tachy event and had ccalf pain Monday, so back to the ER, nada on all tests, but leg doppler ruled out deep vein clots. JUst relaxed a bit when I went to the Dermatologist for a few moles that were itching. She said she found something and did a biopsey, Wait and worry time...but she called and it was removed on biopsey and had clear margins, no further treatment required.
Have been wondering if the Arimidex is triggering more frequent episodes of tachycardia. I was taking it at night and most tachys were at night. Read that some people get tachy as a SE, switched to taking it in the day , see if any new episodes happen in the day. Onc says he doesn't think so, I told him if I have a daytime episode, he owes me money, made a bet!Has anyone had that problem with Arimidex?
So that's my story, enjoy being here so hope I'm back on the notify list and can get here without traveling all over the site!

Puffin! That would be the WORST! Next time, try and go with someone? Or tell those cemetary people of all the trouble you have had... And have one of them go with you?
You could make a movie of that experience!

Chevy..HaHa.. I love your cartoon 😃 ..but it's sad that there are people like that around!
Puffin.. Gosh.. I can see why you were scared.. I would of been really freaking out!

Hi Jackie, I hope you had a good day.
Bonnets! Welcome back, Jean. Have thought of you often -- I have had some issues with the AI SEs but nothing quite as you describe. I had to switch because of some angina-like symptoms I had with Arimidex. I am glad that your tests are negative so far. It may be worthwhile switching to another AI drug to see if that helps.
It's great that you got to TX to spend holidays with your daughter's family.Lucy, I think we should house-swap for a few weeks. You can enjoy snow and I can enjoy the warm humid weather!
Actually, I like snow. I just don't like going out in it when it's icy damp and cold.
Tomorrow morning it is back to work. It will be about 9 or 10 degrees and many roads are still snow-covered. There is a little more snow on the way, and that could hide the icy spots.
I wonder what the deer are doing in the woods during all this snow. I have not seen them out yet...snow is too light and deep for them to walk in it.Ohio, I will be getting your frigid weather tomorrow...thanks for sending!
Puffin, your locked-in story sounds terrifying ... I have learned to always take my cell phone, keys, and wallet whenever I leave my car. I'm glad you had your phone.
I got locked into Home Depot's ladies room once and had to call the store to have someone open the door. Nobody heard me yelling for help.
Chevy thanks for the reminder about ID safety. I have a low limit card for online shopping, and I try not to use a debit card anywhere. Pay pal is good because no one can see your payment method.Sandra, it is good to hear that the patient is responding. I like the Victory Cruise plan. It will be great. I hope you are taking care of yourself as best you can.

Puffin, If that had happened to me, I would still be in the Psych ward heavily medicated. I probably wouldn't have closed the door in the first place, but I know what you mean about not wanting someone to come up behind you when you're concentrated on photography.

Bonnets,
How nice to see you again. This can somehow ( though it has only happened to me once ) get out of favorites and the only way I managed to get back then was going to the active topics and finding a poster I recognized under 'older ladies'. Then got it back in favorites.
I used Arimidex and never had anything of weird heart rhythms but towards the last few months I took it ( maybe 10 or 11 months or so ) I discovered that I was very quick to get angry over things. Even then I didn't think to read up on se's until about 4 months before I stopped taking the drug. I was so glad in a way to be able to stop because it was starting to get to me -- I am not normally an angry type and I wasn't liking myself very much and didn't think anyone else would either. I bet I had an almost permanent scowl.
Good thing you went to the ER -- and glad they found the embolism. Strokes are not fun at all. I hope you can get it all ironed out with your Dr.
Off to bed, but will see you all some time tomorrow.
Blessings,
Jackie

Brrrrrr, 2 degrees here and supposed to get some snow tonight. Hope not much , as I have blood drawn tomorrow morning!
Joan, are you dug out yet? We missed the major storm, West of the Hudson.
Jackie when I started Arimidex my arthritis was so much worse. Then someone suggested taking it at night , which helped. I was about to say I was not going to take it! Now I'm taking it in the morning again to see if it changes the Tachy pattern. Dickering with my onc on that. We'll see.
Puffin's story is sure one for the books.
Everyone keep warm, if you can. Glad to make it back Jean

Hi gals.... Yes Wren! That reminds me of being careful when you go to an ATM machine, like at night, inside the doors of your bank?
People DO wait outside in their cars, watching just for that! And when you leave the machine, they are there to take your money.... It's really not good to shoot them on the spot... but you FEEL like it....
And there were cases of going to the gas pumps, and leaving your purse in the seat? And while you are filling up, the thieves open your car door, and take your purse...
It's like you don't even think about it, until it happens to you....
So Morning Bonnets, Joan and Jackie!
Bonnets, you have been having a TERRIBLE time...! Some of us HAVE had strokes... Jackie and I.... both different, but it CAN happen! And I think it IS from something we are taking!
Tamoxifen caused my "small infarct" in my brain-stem, near the 8th cranial nerve, causing me to lose my hearing....Warning labels on Tamixifen DO mention possibility of strokes.
But I stopped the Tamoxifen, and got hearing aids...
Do you wear compression stockings? My Doc said I DON'T have a clot in my one leg, even though it has a sore spot, and my one ankle swells up like a balloon, but I keep it down by wearing compression stockings from Sigvaris! I mean all the time.... Even sleep in them, because I'm so afraid of a blood clot...
Years ago, I had about a year of Tachycardia episodes! After all the tests, and Holter monitor, it gradually went away, but it was caused by STRESS, and then drinking coffee, anything with caffiene... THAT combined with overwhelming stress from losing my Mom, then my Dad, but it finally straightened out.... Those rapid heart beat periods came with such dizziness, I thought I would pass out.

Good Morning Girls and Chevy.
Wow u guys yak and yak
Sandra It's to go hear Mike is feeling better and I hope he makes the Super Bowl and you get some down time.
Hi Bonnetts. it's good to see you.
Blondie u sound good for all u'r going thru.
Thank u all for the kind words--I really need them.
Oh I was the American Bandstand fan, watched it everyday after school--and the weather here has been s little snow but windy--but no storms, it missed us, But Jackie I think a storm will come that will get us soon.
Puffin a beautiful picture.
I'm working this morning then I'm putting all my calls on voicemail and get them tomorrow morning. Thursday is usually slow for some reason anyway.
Well I just thought I'd pop in and say hello to everyone, I hope today is decent for everyone,

Chevy, When I was in the ER mon. night they did a Doppler on both legs, found nothing there. I went to the ER because of 2 hrs of a weird pain in my left calf, the leg on the same side as the pulmonary embolism. Haven't had any swelling or anything but had flown to TX 2 days before the clot in the lung was discovered. The tachy that time was extreme , with shaking all over. Worst episode I'd ever experienced, that's why we went to the ER in TX. They said the tachy cus be a symptom of a clot. I did get compression hose and wore them on the flight home though. I had 1 tachy episode 4 years ago, before Arimidex, but have had a number since going on Arimidex, and always at night. They have even woke me up!Never seem to be triggered by anything! Luckily the clot in the lung was small and has apparently absorbed now, on CT. Will be on blood thinners at least 6 months though.
Need to see if they make compression stockings for short people, they make lg and ex lg sizes, I have fat legs, but I found they bunched up on the flight. Almost had a tournequet by the time I got off the plane! I figure Ill wear them when we fly , even though he hasn't suggested it.

I know....! I don't like some of the compression stockings.... but Sigvaris seems to help me the most.... I like the knee-hi's... They aren't cheap... and I DO have to roll them down sometimes, and pull them up again.... I am also short...and there is extra room in my toes.... but I don't mind that...
I also bought a Donner.... Because I have a hard time getting them on.... Once you learn how to use it, it really makes it easy....
Sorry you had such a hard time with those episodes! Yikes! It must be from what you are taking? Or the time you are taking it? Maybe the blood thinners will help! You just have to make sure that is monitored all the time.....
My Doc said my legs showed no clots also.... but I wear those stockings, mostly to keep that one ankle from swelling... on it's own accord.... without even ASKing me... just a willy-nilly thing....
I order mine from Discount Surgical Stockings... Sigvaris closed toe.... size B... These are the cotton stockings....Different colors....
