Ruth - I've had the dead freezer happen about three times in 30 years.  It's maddening, not to mention absolutely disgusting.  I feel your pain.  How in the world can vultures actually enjoy that crap!

How awful about the freezer Ruth.

For those struggling with fatigue, I hope it gets better soon. Maybe if we ever get any sunshine and Spring temps ......

Special shout out to Cheryl. Hope you are ok post earthquake. Thought of you as soon as I heard about it.

Exercise for me today was an hour of shovel and sculpt plus a 30 minute treadmill walk at lunchtime.

Edited to add "Happy Saint Patrick's Day" everyone !!!!

Any suggestions for getting the smell out. I googled and a couple places suggested fresh coffee grounds changed every day. So now the freezer is out in the garage full of coffee grounds, baking soda and vinegar.

Ruth, you are too funny!  Nihali, love your pictures.  Interestingly when I look at pictures like the second one I get really queasy (sp?) as though I'm actually on the edge; almost dizzy.  pat01, I'm worse than you as I've been watching the classes, body sculpt, Zumba, Spin, forever and have been too chicken to join in.  Actually I did try Spin twice and my backside hurt so bad I didn't go back.  Maybe will get up the courage to try zumba or spin again.  The body sculpt has so many moves/positions that I really can't do because of my hip.  To modify it would have me inventing a whole different class!

Yesterday went to gym and did stat bike, treadmill and upper/lower body weights in quick 1-hour workout.  Tonight has only been housework, vacuuming and laundry.  Have also been battling intermittent fatigue.

Snow did not get this far north in NJ - YAY!

    Night my sculpted friends.

Thanks Odie yup just fine here, just a little Rock and Rollin' you'll probably see the clip of the morning anchorman getting under the desk, it's hilarious. Oh Ruth, you poor thing I'd say vinegar and baking soda but  it'll probably be stinky for daysSnooze S&S glad the fatigue is slowly lifting. Pat your trainer will probably give you alternate moves ... I know mine does, for instance when everyone is doing burpees I raise my hands above my head, touch my toes and then jump when I come up. Patoo does your gym have Silver Sneakers? That might be an alternate .... Can you tell I'm trying to get everyone into classes cause you know classes are 'my thing'Winking

This morning I did Sh'bam  and tonight Body Pump - yesterday I noticed my arms were looking 'floppy' so I need to add more weight days.

We posted this earlier, but just wanted to give one more shout out.....some of us are planning a California trip this spring. Badger, sweetandspecial, patoo and I are flying out to meet up with hbcheryl in Southern California. After a couple days, we will make our way up the coast and join Natsfan in San Francisco for a little Northern California fun. The dates are May 31 to June 8 (or any part thereof.....or longer, Natsfan is staying an extra day to go to a baseball game). If you're interested, PM one of us.  If you are already in California, let us know and we will try to figure out a way to meet up. Ann is going to do so! Smile

Hi Ladies!  Well I'm a week behind or so here.  Have been exercising but not posting.  Today hooped for over an hour.

Dulci, sounds like you have the hoop bug!  Like NatsFan I bought my first hoops from class instructors.  I have since ordered tubing from an online hoop supply store and made my own.  I did try making one from irrigation tubing from home depot, but that didn't work well.  I will PM you some places I know of.  Don't want to spam the board.

Worked on core yesterday with the trainer - he gave me a routine I can easily do at home, and wants me to do it twice a week - this I can do!  Also got some elliptical in before training - I always find the elliptical very difficult, much prefer doing walk/jog intervals on the treadmill.  Some classical stretch this morning, and the sun is out, though very cold, but I see a lunchtime walk in my future.

Had another lovely walk this morning on the snowmobile trail.

Ruth, the smell in a stinky freezer can be hard to get rid of.  That's partly why people often throw the freezer out with the food.  Would sitting it outside in the sun help?  What about shampoo that people use when their pet gets sprayed by a skunk?

    sun......????? what's "sun"???? (sob).....

sorry for the stink, ruth....other than the vinegar and time routine....I've got no help for you. Maybe you could call an appliance store and ask them? You can get freezer alarms, that sound off when power fails, might be something to consider for the future?

5 km walk yesterday...hoping for a run, but we had "sneet".....(combo of snow and sleet)....now everything looks rather glazed over again.....and........it's snowing.......AGAIN......(sob, sob, sob).

Did Core and More. Now that we have adjusted to the teacher, and she to us, we really like the class. Very fun and a good workout.

The freezer is very old & is dead. Now that there are just two of us, I don't think I will replace it. So I just need it to not smell bad until I can get ahold of a pickup and get it hauled away. Right now it is in the garage full of coffee grounds. It is 'too cold to smell' out there, so I get that is the silver lining to our weather!

Ruth - I've heard that you can crumple up newspapers and put them in a stinky freezer or fridge for a few days, and that will help take care of the smell.

Brought workout clothes to hit dreadmill tonight.  I wish I could wave a magic wand and make the snow go away!

About Ruth's post and the California trip this June - I really hope some of you will consider joining us.  As wonderful as it is to get to know everyone on line, it's so much better being with everyone in person.  It's a fun, welcoming group - adverturesome and up for anything.

Checking in:  Yesterday did the 4-mile mountain hike at noon.  Didn't realize it was hot, and came back sunburned.  Drove by that same mountain a few hours later and they were doing a mountain rescue.  The day before we had 4 of those in our city!

All you ladies, continue on with your liquid awesomeness!  Have a special day!

i'm running around in a tizzy trying to get ready to leave on a 2-week bicycle trip to and through Mississippi; pack for winter?  Pack for summer?  Some climate in between?  In addition to that, i squeezed in a long walk & some PT.

    Ruth--Febreze for the freezer?

To those of you upon whom it snowed: are the crocuses poking through anyway?

Nihahi, speaking of sobbing, I totally hear ya! Seriously ready for some Spring weather as I want to get some fruits and veggies planted. And somebody told me they are calling for more snow next week.....Ugh!

Exercise today consisted of 30 minutes of circuit training.

Vinegar and baking soda, maybe?... but sometimes the smell is in the rubber lining that has picked up funk throughout the years and it's embedded in there ...

Yes, you don't want to ski with Grizzly Bears.

About the freezer: the freshly ground coffee grounds seem to be doing the trick. I put a bunch of badgers recommended crumpled newspapers in with a new batch of coffee tonight, so we shall see.

Odie that clip is going to haunt him for many many years, we have a news anchor out here who did the same thing 20 years ago and that clip showed all the time, funny thing is that anchor had done mornings all this time but about a month ago he became a night anchor, I'll bet yesterday he uttered a big 'whew' that he wasn't on the air when it happened cause all eyes would have been on him, sorry you can't join us for our HB to San Francisco adventure you'll have to start banking your days off for next year Winking Bluetail have a wonderful time and yes pack for all seasons. Nihahi that snow looked deep and aren't bears supposed to be hibernating? Dulci enjoy the outdoor run tomorrow and be careful not to step in any potholes.

Tonight did Body Step class again without the step.

    5K training, day one?

Completed. In the rain. (Liquid awesome from the outside??)

Ice, rain, mud, 37 degrees....Proud of myself! This NEVER would have happened in the first 47 years. Lol.

I looked out the window and a voice in my head said, "You can have results or you can have excuses. But you can't have both!" I think I'll ask DH to make me a t-shirt with that on it.

dulcigirl....I LOVE THAT "voice"!!!!!!!! That may well be my new favourite saying!!!!!!!

hbcheryl....actually, the big males typically start coming out around now, and some even come out for a brief "nosh" in winter. I never have yet met a grizzly that read the rule book either.

tomorrow is the first day of spring......heavy snowfall predicted for the mountains.....I'm thinking it's time to stick around in town for awhile and try to keep up with dulcigirl.

fyi....that bike trip sounds awesome. Hubby and I rode our 10speeds up the Oregon coast, several lifetimes ago...one of the best holidays we ever had!

Nihahi - wow - grizzlys!  I'll take my meek little black bears we get at our cabin any day - they're so shy you can chase them off just by banging a few pans together.  Can't do that with a grizzly, or at least live to tell about it. Shocked Dulci - fabulous workout!  You should be very proud! And you're right - that's a great mantra.

Just scheduled my colonoscopy for April 8th - not looking forward to that prep again.  Scared  But I saw a report recently that said that the incidence of colon cancer has dropped significantly and they attribute it to more people having colonoscopies and polyps being removed before they cause issues.  My dad had (& survived) colon cancer, but that puts me into a higher risk category so I'm stuck going through it every few years.

30 minutes elliptical this morning.  Yin yoga scheduled for tonight.

Walked with my Wednesday ladies again....we are DREAMING of spring! Will do Zumba tonight.

Mary, before my colonoscopy, somebody told me to start the liquid diet a day early, and that really helped....not much in, not much out.....if ya know what I mean.....

Have to ditto the invite to CA in June.  We have soooooooooooo much fun.  It's nonstop laughter.

No 'formal' exercise today.  Funeral for 90 year old family friend and then some errands.

Re colonoscopies - I had one end-December and having another next week.  Not to worry but the first was by gastroenterologist; I thought they are usually the ones we go to?  She removed one polyp but was not satisfied with the films and sent them, and me, to a colon surgeon for second opinion.  He explained that there is another polyp but it is flat (there are actually 3 types) and most gastro docs don't want to take the chance and remove it.  So the colon surgeon will do another colonoscopy to get the flat one.  If I had known that I could have just gone with the colon surgeon in the first place and avoided a repeat?  The prep you have to do now is no where near as foul as the one I had to drink 3 years ago.  This one is really easy to get down - it's 6 ozs mixed into 10 ozs of water, just gulp it down, followed by 2 more 16 oz glasses of water and you do that twice a few hours apart.  I had 2 aunts died from colon cancer so I'm also in the higher risk group.

No hbcheryl, no 'silvershoes' (or whatever you called it a page back) group in my gym.  They really don't have any classes that make you say "Oh, yeah, gotta try that".   It's okay the weather is getting better so I will be doing more walking, with an occasional trot.  Also just ordered some walking sticks so that should ramp up my workout.

    Night my sculpted sisters.
