hello ladies my breast story started four nearly five months ago i dont normally get breast pain apart from a few days before my period then it only lasts for 2,3 days anyway i has an abcess in my left armpit which had to be opened and drained this was all done succesfully but about 2 weeks later i had a ache in my breast as my period was due i ignored it and basically it has never gone away to the stage where its now affecting my work, i dont have a lump but the area below my left nipple doesnt feel right this is where the pain seems to come from almost like its deep inside the nipple and is spreading down under the breast to where it meets the rib its also really uncomfortable wearing a bra now, anyway the doc sent me to see the breast specialist who said because i was in pain there was nothing to worry about she had a quick feel and sent me on my way, to come back in a months time, yesterday i went back and had my mamo but didnt see the doc now ive got to wait till march to see her again. im just so fed up with all this waiting i know it probably isnt bc but i want to know what is wrong with me, as far as im concerned you shouldnt get pain out of the blue which lasts this long without an explanation. what do u ladies think?

GO BACK!  Insist on an ultrasound and MRI.  I had a clean mammogram in Oct. 09.  I started having breast pain in my left breast in December, ignored it, thought I had pulled a muscle working out, etc.

Finally went to my doctor in late January.  She ordered an ultrasound, they did not think it was anything, but I went to a specialist to review, he did not think it was anything, but ordered an MRI to be sure, again not concerned, but doctor was proactive and said lets do a biopsy to be sure....Monday results came back its cancer.  Still does not show up on a mammogram.  It is small, but growing.  Now I am in the process of deciding lump removal, mastectomy or bi-lateral mastectomy.  I pray you do not have it and they all said that breast pain and the cancer are not related, but like you I could not explain why out of the blue I had pain that lasted over 6 weeks.  Be proactive.  Either way you will know.

Absolutely go back or get another opinion!! I had horrible pain inmy left breast every time I breathed and they kept telling me it wasn't cancer "because BC doesn't hurt." Thank God for my pulmonolgist who did a CT looking for pulmonary edema. They found a 1.9cm tumor that was malignanat. I am out of surgery and now in chemo. Don't mean to scare you but insist ongetting it thoroughly checked. And Dublin, I amsosorry you had to go through all of that to get a correct diagnosis and so sorry that it is BC. (((GENTLE HUGS))) SV

Thank you for posting this, I will also be calling my PC doctor today. Last year, about 12 or 13 months ago, I had a weird issue in my right breast, just 3 months after my mammo. I went and saw my regular doctor and she felt something that was just not right. Not a lump, but off. She sent me to her personal doctor, who did an US that day, and I had this massive area that she immediatly aspirated. The fluid was tested, it was neither cancer nor infection, but the area was very large. I went back 8 days later and it was back. It was aspirated again, with no further issues. Again, I had my annual mammo in October of 09, and the last few days, the pain I was experiencing last year before what I refer to as the mutant blob is back.

So, I am going to see my regular doc, hopefully soon and see what she thinks.

I am physically drained from all of it. Since October of 08 I have had 3 aspirations, one was in late 08, and was just a small cluster of cysts, but they were deep and I wanted them out. The 2 I had on the area of the same breast I am having issues with today were actually quite painful, especially the 2nd one on that 8 days later, and bruised quite extensively.

But, I would rather go through that and be sure and not run the chance. You ladies are right and nearly everything you read is, a non issue, not BC if it is painful, and I know I don't have it, but I am not going to take the chance. I haven't breastfed in 14 years, and though I am only 41, I come a heavy history of BC, premenapause, and I refuse to take the chance.

Thank you so much for sharing your stories!

hi ladys thank you all so much for leaving messages, its good to talk to people that know wat im going through although i must say my partner has been fantastic.

dublin so sorry to hear yr bad news my thoughts are with you and i hope you can find the strength to make yr decision.

i forgot to mention earlier that also on the same breast a purple almost bruise like lump has appeared about the size of a large pea and no ive def not had any trauma in that area, i showed it to the lady that done my mamo yesterday and she drew a diagram of it on the notes for the doc, so ive decided im going to make an apppointment with my doc while i wait to hear from the consultant.

whatever is wrong with me i'd just rather know then at least i can get on with fighting, fixing it?

many thanks again ladys hope u all keep well x

    Go Go Go!!

Please make sure that you get an MRI and any imaging you can.

I have had breast and bone pain for 4 months now. My dumb doctors have been telling me it is hormones and fibromyalgia! I refused to listen to that mess!

I now have another doctor that I am seeing. He is disappointed that these other doctors have not sent me for a bone scan. So now I am having a bone scan on March 4th.

It is very possible that I have metastatic breast cancer. I am now getting dippling on my left breast! I have begged and begged to have an MRI of my breast because of dense breast tissue, and no one would get one for me because I have normal mammograms and ultrasound!

So do not let anyone put anything in your head that does not sound right. We know our bodies better than anyone, and we have to speak up and demand our care!

thanks helen ive still not heard anything back about my mamo yet, at just turned 36 i thought they prob should hav done a ultrasound aswell as a mamo is supposed to be unclear on someone my age, but just got fobbed of meanwhile ive booked in to see my doc on friday and ive decided im going to demand some answers tests watever to find out whats wrong with me, if they are so certain that i dont have bc then find out what is giving me all this pain and why it suddenly started out of the blue 5 months ago and is getting worse, they suggested mine could be hormonal so was put on evening primrose oil 3 1000mg a day and doesnt make a blind bit of difference infact its worse

hope you and i both get some answers soon

    hi!

I’m in a similar situation. I’ve had constant pain in one breast for almost 5 months now. I’ve had mamo, u/s, and MRI. Nothing has shown up. I’m just told that I have very dense breast tissue. I’m curious if your doctors found something on an image to biopsy. I’ve been told they need to actually find something on an image or a lump in order to biopsy it. Thank you for sharing!
