0cean - It’s not worth engaging in an argument about personal preference. My oldest daughter married a guy who came in very opinionated and critical. It felt like he was trying to establish that she was now only his. It really freaked me out at first. My daughter (who had lived with his family for a year as an exchange student) explained their family dymamics to me and after I met them (OMG) I could see where it came from. They have been married for over 20 years now and he has really mellowed out. It helps that my daughter is a very strong person and doesn’t take crap from anyone. She did insist on taking him with her for some couples counseling at one point because he was driving her nuts. I have learned to let any attempt to push my buttons just roll off. I can appreciate his charms (and he has many) now that I don’t feel that I am always on the defensive.

My daughter said he looked at her like she had 2 heads when she put ketchup in her soup beans. Lol She said "What? This is what we always do." Lol
