Well Ladies... I made it through surgery! I lost the TE... Already feel better and it has only been a couple hours. Maybe I will opt to have the other removed too! Once I heal a bit, will have the ability of seeing flat versus full! will decide the.

Hope everyone else is doing good today :)

Chick, I was awake half the night with severe thunderstorms...and I live in Indianapolis! It is crazy weather. Walked out the door to the hairdresser in fairly warm weather this morning, and left the hairdress 90 minutes to major winds and huge temperature drop.

fluff - I forgot you're in Indy! I posted a while ago about that.  My best girlfriend lives right outside of Indy in Fishers!

Jane, glad to see you check in. Good luck on the 27th. Glad you are at peace with your decision--I'm sure it wasn't easy to get there.

Sorry, DM13. Glad that you are feeling okay, though.

DM - Glad you posted and hope you are doing ok.  Your body knew that it was struggling so removing the TE should make you feel better.  You are so right - this will give you a chance to see what decision will be the correct one for you.  Remember, this is about you, not what anyone else wants - you need to feel comfortable with the decision.  Keep us posted on how you are feeling, and remember to rest.

Oh DM you must have such mixed emotions but if this gives you a chance to heal, feel well and recover then it will be well worth it. I had delayed recon so had 6 months of life with a prosthesis which was fine and gave me time to recover and decide what I wanted. Also my PS has used a new sub mammary scar so the most pressure from the TE is not over the scar which it is with immediate TE placement I think.

I have now stopped antibiotics and infection seems at bay so here's hoping! I am just waiting for my biopsy results next week to make sure the findings at surgery were not a local recurrence. . . trying to be strong!

    Hi ladies,

I don't think I posted after my last fill on Monday. I'm now up to 240cc's in the right TE.  Getting there! I'm going on Mon and Fri every week to get 60cc's put in, and it's really going smoothly.  There's a wrinkle in the TE at the top, but I remember having a wrinkle at the bottom of the other one until it was snug and filled, no biggie. I'll be at 300 on Friday!  I think I have to get to like 520 or something, so doing this Mon/Fri will really speed things up. I may need to slow it down at the end, but that's no problem. Then she wants them to sit for 3 months. Looks like it will be June for exchange if everything continues to go well.  Always crossing fingers and taking it one day at a time.

    Great news, annicemd!

    Yay for progress, momof3infla!

I am off for a check-in with my RO. Last time I saw him was right after I lost my TE. Now I am flat on the other side, LOL. I'm a hot mess.

Yeah lots of good news in here today!

You can breathe a little bit easier today, annicemd!  :-)

So I have a question about sleeping.  All the talk in here a few days back got me thinking.  Should I be sleeping on my sides at all? I have been sleeping on my sides lately, like half on my tummy, half on my side.  I can feel the TEs shift around.  I have a seroma on my left side so it's squishy on that side.  I will feel a little bit of pain and that's my cue to roll back over to my side or on my back.

My youngest decided on a college last night.  I wanted to make a trip down there this weekend but there is a big storm coming in.  I hate driving in rain.  She chose Sonoma, in the heart of the Napa Valley.  Very close to where we live.

    Hello all,

I went for a fill yesterday, but low and behold the surgeron could not find my port for my left side!  After much poking and proding and sticking me with a needle in my ribs, enough was enough.  He said that either my port shifted or I have so much scar tissue over it that it is difficult to feel.  I'm up to 330 cc's.  It doesn't seem a lot but I wasn't big before BC (b-cup)  I tried on a bra last night to see where I was and I am getting to where I was, but not quite.  If they can't find the port next week, I really don't know whats going to happen.  I was hoping for a couple of more fills before I called it quits.  Has anyone else experienced this?

Glad I'm not the only one, SpecialK! My PS recently said to me "Well, if I have to have ONE problem child..."

kim40, did they try using the magnetic port-finder?

mrochon, I still find it somewhat uncomfortable sleeping on my stomach with 1 implant & 1 side flat. I think I am finally used to back-sleeping all the time now anyway. Not sure if you should or shouldn't sleep a certain way if it doesn't cause problems, however.

I'm not on my stomach per say but leaning that way.  I can't do that unless I have a pillow stuffed underneath me.  I'm almost three months out from TE replacement surgery, it's getting easier.  Muhc easier on my right than the left though.

Michelle - Who wouldn't want to go to college in the Napa-Sonoma area?  That is awesome!  Can we take a wine tasting field trip?  Don't know about the sleeping on the side - it was semi-comfortable for me for awhile, but now that I am filled to capacity it isn't anymore - I feel like I am perched upon my side, can't really curl up.

kim - have not had the port issue - maybe they can ultrasound for it?  If they can see a biopsy marker they should be able to see your fill port on US.  Also as they fill it does move a bit.  Maybe if they can fill some more it will move to an easier location - hoping anyway.  Also keep in mind that you will be smaller with the implant than the TE so they need to be larger than what you are looking for in a final product by at least 50 cc's.

SpecialK - Seriously! I'm down for a wine tasting trip.  In fact I will be taking one each time I go down to see her and pick her up, lol!

Thanks for all kind words I am happy today.

Michelle, I am a longstanding stomach sleeper and after my first surgery in july I had to adapt to sleeping differently. However my compromise was exactly what i think you are doing which is propped on my side but face downwards with pillows propping me up under my stomach. As long as there is no pressure on TE/implant/scar I think that is fine and discomfort is certainly prompt to switch to back. Lots of spare pillows is the answer to restful sleep I think!

DM I hope tonight is the night you actually get some sleep!

    Hugs

I have a surgery date for my ovary and fallopian tube removal!  February 3rd, yahoo!  It falls right before some major deadlines for a couple things I'm working on.  I'll have those done before I leave so I won't have to worry.  I'll also be able to work from home.  I won't have to use so much time.  And if it's rainy during my time off, all the better!  :-)

Annice, I'm definitely going to be paying more attention to that now!

    Yay Annice…great news!

DM - Sorry to hear you lost the TE. And yes, it's amazing how much better you feel after it's removed. Take it easy, don't overdo things. I was disappointed when my PS said I had to wait 3 months to get a new TE, but in hindsight, I'm glad she was cautious.

Kim - no I've not heard of a PS not being able to find the port. Do you have the magnetic kind?

I slept on my side with te's as soon as the stitches were healed. I am a stomache sleeper. I put a micro bead pillow below expanders and below hips and then could go for about 30 minutes. I kind of kept my hand under tham to make sure I wasnt squishing anything.

Now that I have the implants, i sleep on my stomache a lot, but I use one of those contour pillow, so it raises my head up just a smidge and I dont feel like I am mashing the implants into my chest.

Hi ladies, hope you are all well. I've got a lot of catching up to do! Last fill was very painful for me, so happy I am done! And...I've caught a cold. Blah. Hope to catch up more tomorrow, I think my bed and pillow are calling my name.

Away for a few days again and WOW this thread was active! Hello to the new "members" of our troubled little club, and a shout out to all the "old timers"!

I was doing so much better with this pin hole — 4 days with no seepage of any kind, really looked like it was healing up and then last night, SEEPAGE! ERGH! I didn't take a nap yesterday and instead went hiking. Could that extra activity have caused it? I also went to Trader Joe's alone for the first time since before my Dec 1st surgery. Seems like I should be able to do that now but I guess not! Even tho I only unloaded using my left arm.

I have really been very patient throughout this whole process (Feb 3 will be one year since my BMX and all these troubles began). I am OK with limited activity. What I am NOT OK with is having gained 10 pounds this past year due to all this forced inactivity! I know y'all can relate. I have to eat 100 grams of protein a day... that does not come without its calories. I need to feel tha I can take a walk and a mild hike or I'm going to lose my mind. I see PS on Tuesday. I am taking it easy today. Tomorrow I am going out of town for a long weekend with my BFFs and will have to really remember to take it E.A.S.Y. Blech.

So happy to hear many of you are graduating from TE Trouble land! Gives me hope! ;-)

Renn, I think you may be right about the activity/seepage connection & I feel for you! I am DYING to exercise, but I am afraid to overdo it on the Gazelle with too much arm movement. I am on the hunt for a cheap treadmill instead.

    Have a great trip, Renn!

    Feel better soon, MTnester!

Thanks for the tip about microbead pillows, fluffqueen! May have to get one of those!

On the pillow suggestion, I did try the Symphony pillow by Temperpedic and found that was really comfortable to tuck under me and I felt no pressure.  I just wasnt' willing to plunk down 100 bucks for a pillow just yet. I think I will though but I want to look for a microbead pillow and give that a try. I probably should have just bought the Symphony cause I've spent money on pillows in the past months that I wasn't happy with and ended up giving away!

Renn, when I got my infection.  I noticed that when I excercised or was very active (I was really pushing to be 'normal' then), that that's when the puss build up happened. I don't know if that was just a coincidence and it was goig to happen anyway. It made me a little paranoid where activity was concerned.

Renn you have been so patient and it seems so unfair. Really hope the pin hole closes soon. Michelle is right in that the activity probably increased pressure in the area and caused the seepage but only what was there anyway. Moderate exercise increases blood flow so should actually help healing ultimately so don't blame yourself.

Lots of healing thoughts to everyone :)
