kelleysgroi, coffee is one of my favorite things, and I still try to have some every morning, but I agree...it's not what it was. But that's temporary! Hope you enjoyed your cup!
I wish there were 'like' buttons like FB, since there are so many comments I enjoy reading and can't keep up with them all.
We had a nice New Years at home, which is normal, but all the kids and significant others were here too. Grilled, played games and watched the ball drop. It was a nice evening and I'm beat today. Definitely finding days 5 and 6 my harder ones, but still manageable.
Pray you all have a great start to the New Year, and I agree - we will kick cancer's butt this year! Peace and strength to you all.

Question...has anyone else experienced pain/discomfort when hair is coming out? Mine is now shaved and stubble, coming out little by little and getting more skin patches. I can't tell if the discomfort is from the stubble and going 'against the grain' or if it is typical that skin is tender. Does that make sense or ring true for anyone else? I'm looking forward to having all the little pieces gone and just having skin, much smoother!0

Happy New Year to all. Looking forward to all of us kicking BC to the curb and growing back our hair in 2012!
Andimom03 ~ I am still having a bit of discomfort with the stubble wearing off. I was thinking that maybe it's from the wig rubbing the "leftover" hair. Just a thought.
Tomorrow is my 3rd treatment. Not looking forward to SE's, but am looking forward to being half-way through with chemo. As they say...onward and upward! Take care and have a great first day of the new year.

Andimom03-..my "hair" hurt like hell whenit fell out! I was in tears..I had shaved it and the little stubbles felt like needles in my head..I stood in the shower and scrubbed and pulled until no more would come out..I still have a thin layer of fuzz that has not come out..thinking I am that much closer to actually having hair!
linnyhopp- good luck tomorrow! Wednesday makes my 5th tx and I switch to taxol..on the downward slope now! February does not seem so far away now that January is here!

Happy New Year Everyone's ! i agree with everyone's thoughts, this is the year to kick some BC butt! here's to our health, our bodies and positive and awesome attitude!
I'll be thinking of all of you in chemo this week. Tuesday is my 3rd chemo. Wishing all minimum SE's !0 -
Happy New Year and blessings to each of you!
AndiMom--I used an lint roller on my head to get rid of the stubble. The stubble hurt when I would turn my head in bed or on the couch. It sounds weird but it worked for me. I just didn't press too hard.
I have had a cough for a couple of weeks now. I am taking a prescription cough medicine but it doesn't seem to be working too well. I have the neuropathy in my hands and feet this time too. I am so very, very tired today. I just want to sleep. I start Taxol on January 10. Not looking forward to doing any more of this stuff.
I don't like feeling so tired and worn out when I haven't done anything. It will be better.

Thank you! I thought I was losing my mind.
Kellysgroi, I have used a lint roller to help get out the last hairs...it's working but little by little! The kids don't like to see that for some reason! I wore a wig to church this morning and everyone liked it, but it made my head hurt so much! Like the hats better!
linnyhopp, I'll be thinking of you tomorrow! I'm only done my second tx and will be going through 4 of the AC and then 4 of Taxol. Halfway done AC! Hang in there...and rest well afterward. I'll be eager to hear how you cope!
Any magic cures for hemorrhoids? I'm constantly doctoring mine and it helps, but they are TENDER!

Andimom03 - My scalp hurt too as my hair was falling out--- unfortunately for me, I have completed 4 AC tx & the hair has not grown since I had it shaved before my 2nd tx BUT I still have stubble
Does anyone else have stubble or am I just wierd? Confused as usual!
Peaceful & restful day to all-
Rose

TexasRose21..I still have a later of stubble..just that much closer to having hair!
Andimom03..please let me know if you find a magic cure for the hemorrhoids..I just keep using the preparation H and hope for the best
Bethu77- hope that cough gets better! I know what you mean about disliking the tired feeling. I am beginning to feel like I will never feel human again. Hang in there and just rest..be kind to yourself..we will get through it!

Andimom03,
Iti is pretty common for it to hurt or itch. Mine itches and given that I hate the wigs, so go with the 1/4 inch crew cut , you will often see me running my hands over the top of my head to relieve the itching. My onc has warned me not to scratch with my nails, don't do anything to increase the possibility of open wounds or infection. He also mentioned how tightly or not one's scalp maybe holding on to the stubble. Mine is apparently holding on tight, hence the itching and the rashy look that has developed. I just keep rubbing the top of it,like I used to my son's when he was younger and had a crew cut. This too shall pass, my mantra.

I had a scary night last night! I have had this illness for weeks. I don't breathe well anyway because of my cold. I fell asleep without the humidifier on and woke up with a dry throat and absolutely could not get a breath in! I had to try keep trying to swallow and try to call for my husband. He finally heard some sounds from the bedroom and came running to get some water down my throat. Now I am afraid to even think of going to sleep! My throat hurts from coughing, my neck and ears hurt, my fingers and toes are numb and oh, is it spring yet???? I'm sorry, I just want to be able to move without pain and being in a stupor.
I start Taxol on 1/10. I am going to look at Acetyl L Carnitine and Glutamine for neuropathy. My onc has okayed it.
Have a good week everyone. I hope your treatments go well and your SEs are non existant or minimal!

Beth- holy crap that sounds scary- I am so sorry you experienced this..did you call the Doc?? Find out what is going on..ugh..as if we dont have enough things to be frightened of with all this crap, now you are afraid to sleep! Please rest today and be well!

Beth-So sorry you are feeling so bad. I think with a cold that serious that you need something to help get you over it. For one thing, are you sure it is actually a cold? I have always heard that colds are only 2 weeks in length, so that if you have sinus problems, breathing problems, cough, etc., lasting for longer than 2 weeks, it is not a cold. So if it isn't a cold, there may be something that will cure it for you. I have had a sniffle, off/on cough, off/on sore throat, bloody nose, headache ever since my first treatment back in November. Now even my eyes are running. At night, they stick together, and come morning, I have to remove the sticky stuff from them and pry them open. Part of me thinks maybe it is a cold, but since it has been going on too long to be a cold, I suspect it is just some more side effects of the chemo. I know these are not side effects I have read about before, but it seems like quite a few ladies on these boards have "cold-like" symptoms. That seems too great to be just coincidence to me. I know you don't want to have your treatment postponed due to illness either, so I suggest you at least make a phone call about it to your doctor.

bahamamom3- runny nose, on/off off and that sticky gooey eye thing has been happening to me also and I dont feel like I have a cold..there has to be something about the chemo causing this..it sure as hell causes enough other issues!

Kelley and Rose - I also have kept a lot of stubble. And yes after a three hours of a hat or wig, it is crazy itchy . I was just starting to worry about it. I am on taxotere and cytoxan which is supposed to attack the fast dividling cells so why hasn't the rest of my hair fallen out? Is it working? It was also supposed to stop my period, but so far no luck. I'm going to ask the onco on Tuesday at my 3rd t&c. Probably not worrisome, I just was just thinking about it.
Beth, i hope you get some relief and soon. That sounds very scary and we all know we certainly need our sleep. I hope you are able to talk to your Dr. about it. You may need something to help you through it.

Junta- I guess this crap just affects all of us differently..my period stopped and as for the hair..who knows why it isnt falling out..I have to shave parts of my legs every five days or so because there is a tiny bit of stubble. I am just finding this whole experience emotionally/physically draining and just plain stupid!

Junta-
I have my 4th TC treatment this week. I've had my period during the last three. I have a lot of stubble left (mostly only gray hair). My ONCO nurse assured me that the TC is working. I figure it is in God's hands. My last treatment will be this week. Looking forward to losing the excess weight I gained once Chemo is over.

sueshane- congrats on finishing! I cant wait to be you!!! Do you think the weight gain is from the steroids or from the taxol..I keep hearing people say they gained weight on the taxol..I start my taxol treatments on Wednesday..the last thing I need for my emotional state is weight gain..ugh!!

Junta- I am confused about the stubble also. I read somewhere that the severity of the side effects does not have any bearing on the effectiveness of the tx. I am also going to ask my MO about the stubble (is that hair loss considered a SE?). I thought that everyone lost all their hair. Ughh!!

Kelley- I too am finding this emotionally & physically draining!. Cheers to you for even shaving your legs! I have stubble on my legs & quite frankly, I feel so lousy I don't really care to shave it. Thank God it's winter!!

TexasRose21..Im only shaving them to try to maintain some sort of normalcy..yesterday I felt so great..today was just a blah day..this waking up and just never knowing If its gonna be a good day or a bad day, if Im gonna have nausea or aches or be tired walking up the stairs is so frustrating. I feel fortunate that my side effects physically have really been minimal..ya know..that low grade flu like feeling but emotionally..man..I feel I can cry at any second all the time

Ladies, I am right there with you on this emotional roller coaster! I can cry at the drop of a dime, for no reason at all! I'm seriously impressed though that some of you are shaving your legs! I may actually give it a try to see if it improves my mood. I just kind of figured, what's the point?! But maybe doing some of my normal routine will make me feel more "normal" again.
