Helenna, now you've got me, I don't think I knew there were 3 different styles, none of mine have a wire. The one I have in front of me right now, is called a Lara Lace SB 0795, I had it on yesterday and was about to wash it. I would suggest trying on as many as you can, to get the right fit for you. Try the Mona too, quite a few of us really like that style, even though it is a soft cup and the Lara is more structured and lightly padded, they are both comfy on me.

I understand your excitement about going to your fitting, I was the same and I can't wait to hear how you get on with it and what you get to start your own "FoobMoire!" LOL

Don't forget to try on some of the pocketed tops, if they have them, and the weighted foam forms, even a swim form. You don't have to buy, but knowing how they feel means if you find you want them later, you've tried them and know your size. There is even more out there now, than when I first started hunting for my things.

    Happy Hunting! M

Glennie, it was one of the other ladies here who named it  The FoobMoire" for me. I love it too!

There is a picture of it a few pages back on this thread, I think. My Husband joked about the fright a burglar would get if he found that cupboard completely full of boobs! LOL

    Hi Momine,

That's never happened to me. And I tend to wear my bra bands very loose (I use a bra extender because I can't tolerate anything tight). Just shows how we are all different. I have had the problem of too-heavy forms in bras that aren't very supportive -- then they definitely sag, but they don't go behind the bra band.

Ariom, I was telling my LE therapist about your Foobmoire today! She was just amazed at how much stuff we need. I told her I already have 2 drawers full, and really need my own Foobmoire.

That's funny Glennie! I think you have already reached FoobMoire status with that amount of stuff! I know some people think I am nuts to have collected so much, but I like to be ready for anything! LOL

    Hello everyone,

My name is Lisa and I have been reading through this thread and love it! My bmx was in 2007 and boy, I have missed a lot of good information. I actually visited my fitter today because I was due for new bras and foobs (love that term!) from insurance and thought I'd mention that she added a stitch to each pocket to make sure the foob didn't slide down in the pocket. It made a really cute bra work much better. The bra is the Anita Malia and is a grey with black feather-like print that reads kinda leopard. She does that with swimwear too and it really helps. I have swim forms that slip down so I'm going to try the poofy idea.

    Now I want a FoobMoire!

Hi intothewoods, I just googled it and that bra is gorgeous, but does it actually come with pockets? I don't think there would be enough coverage for my chest, it would show the concave dip and it looks to have an under wire?

Is your fitter maybe sewing pockets into regular bras? Sorry to be so nosey, but as you have seen, I love to find new brands and I love pretty lingerie, like that bra. I have never seen this brand before.

I am in Australia and Amoena is definitely the most popular and available brand here. I love their products, but I love to see new things too. Thanks for that!

    Hi Ariom,

Isn't "nosey" what this thread is kinda about? Happy Glad you asked:

The bra is a mastectomy bra and does have pockets and there is no underwire. The best way I can describe the stitching is that it makes the pocket a little less deep.

    Happy Saturday!

Erica, Good to know that the sagging does happen. Even when I had boobs, I had dire problems keeping a bra band in place. Must have to do with my ribcage shape.

Intothewoods  that is so pretty, do they sell those in boutiques here? Thanks for sharing, love seeing different things, let us know if you found any other favorites after your appt with the fitter! Thanks. xoxo

hi ladies! I've enjoyed all the posts since I've been off line. I have a comment and a question. I just got back from Cape Cod and spent the whole time at the beach in a Lands End mastectomy swimsuit with no prosthetic! Yay,  cause I really didn't want to wash salt out and dry a prosthetic after the beach. Amazing thing was that the Lands End Tankini Top has a substantial modesty pad and the quality construction makes it look like a small size a boob and doesn't  fall forward when you bend over! I wore it right in the waves body surfing! Here is a pic of the top. Ignore my face! Terrible selfie!

    imageP

My question is that I have a light foob from ABC that is called "my first form" size 6. is there another version that is even lighter but has the same nice construction with the soft cover? I'd like to put something like that is a pocketed tee or tank top. Thanks for any help!

Hi Bettyboops! That top looks great, you'd never know. So pleased to hear you have been in the surf and have had  a great time.

I think the form you have, is a Memory Foam Weighted Leisure Form. These ones aren't recommended for swimming.

If you like this type of form ie; the foam, but you want something that isn't weighted, you could look at the non weighted Tru Life, I believe it has the removable cover.

All the companies seem to have a non weighted form in dacron, which you can adjust the filling to your exact size, I doubt these would be too good long term though. I had one at the very beginning after my surgery and it became a bit lumpy after a short time.

There are the Micro Beads, Tru Life makes one of these, but the cover doesn't come off. There are other companies out there making similar ones, also Mary at Mastectomysolutions, she can make them for a minimal cost, or she supplies the pattern to make your own. You could adapt a cover to be removable over the closed cover if you wanted to.

If you Google Non Weighted Breast Forms, you will find there are quite a lot of them around, but I should mention that you may find, without any weight at all in the form, you may have the band riding up on your chest, as was mentioned earlier on the thread.

I know my situation is different, having only one breast removed and being a size 8 in a form, but if I wear a non weighted form, every time I reach up for something, I have to pull the bra band back down. That's why I love the weighted leisure forms. I put one of those in the pocket of whatever I am wearing and I forget it is there.

Good luck with your searching, let us know what you come up with.

Ariom, I cleaned off 2 shelves in my little linen closet this weekend.  So I put all my foobs on one shelf. I forgot that I had 3 Knitted Knockers in addition to the 3 Foobs that I bought.  Then on the other shelf, I put all my compression sleeves and Swell Spots and stuff like that.  Now I have plenty of room in the drawers for the bras!

awe shucks glennie...thanks for the kudos. truth is no one is looking at middle age women at the beach anyway so I feel pretty confident about no foob.

glennie and Ariom, I also keep looking at my closet and want to do a whole re-do. I love to hear about new ideas you all are doing to organize. I think I need to do a big cleaning and then set up a foobmoire. I was thinking the closet organizers that hang for shoes or sweaters might be good to keep things on. Not sure, I have to clean first and see how I can fit something in. I only have 3 bras and 3 foobs but somehow, I need to organize them into their own little area. I'm not a neat freak but I am an organizational freak!

    hi Ariom!

Yes, you are probably right about the weighted form. I'm sure I would not like a puff form riding up on me in a tank top or t-shirt. Maybe what I have is good, the weighted leisure form. Do you find that the unweighted foam form would ride up like a "puff" would? I have in my head that an unweighted form form would be useful but maybe I'm wrong? They are fairly inexpensive.

I have a microbead form I got for swimming but It doesn't work well in a tank or t shirt. I find the beads all fall down to the bottom of the form and I look like I'm sagging as I would with my real breasts! Well, heck if I'm going to wear fakes then they should look perfect! I like the triangle shape forms. I think they look nice and put together in all kinds of things.

Oh, by the way, I had a terrible experience trying to buy tanks from a company called makemeheal.com. I ended up canceling my order because they were so disorganized and my shipment took so long to get delivered and they never called to tell me that something had been discontinued ! Buyer beware! On the other hand, metro medical online was fast with free shipping.  What are the most reliable, favorite online companies to buy from?

I've used Metro Medical too and they are good.

I got the Trulife Tri-Leisure Lightly Weighted breast form 611 from them for only $40.  A good buy for a foob!!

Bettyboops, I think the microbead form probably needs cups to keep it from doing that. Mary has a photo on mastectomysolutions.com that shows the foob flat, then convex when pushed at the sides. It's in the sew your own foob section. Most of my swimsuits flatten me anyway, so my nylon net poof works ok.

Hey glennie and Bettyboops, I use MetroMedical a lot. I find they have the best deal, as you discovered, glennie, on the TruLife weighted forms 2 for $72.00. They are $88.00 each here in Aus, so I recently bought a couple for spares. I have bought bras from there too, I never have any problem and if they are out of stock of something they notify me and send the rest first. I have all my items sent to a place in Sarasota which gives me a US address, I wait till I have a fair few items and they send them Fed Ex, I can organize a delivery Friday our time and the box is here on Tuesday. It's quicker than using crappy Australia Post, I get my things faster from the US than from 1000km away. LOL

I have an unweighted foam form and for me, it is useless. It just rides up and I am always adjusting the right side of my bra. I would guess that it would do the same if it were 2 of them. I hope someone else who has had a BMX will advise you on that.

Once you have a good idea of our size for different things I would suggest checking Ebay. I have snagged some amazing bargains on new items like bras, swimsuits and even forms. There are often sellers with shops who sell end of season Amoena clothing and PJ's for outrageous prices. ndgirl and I bought fabulous lounging pajamas recently, from the same seller for $20.00 a pair. They have been selling the Active range too which has tops and crop tops with pockets. I also bought masses of Active wear and Yoga pants etc from a company called Marika. They often have sales that are 50% off the clearance area where you can get tanks and crop sports bras with pockets and modesty pads for around $9.00 down from $60.00 and crop pants or yoga pants for around the same. Definitely worth checking out if you like that kind of leisure wear.

Bettyboops, I found I had stuff scattered everywhere till I set up the Foobmoire. It definitely works for me. I wear the triangle forms too, they really match my remaining side.

I hope you have a ball in Daytona glennie!

Since it's summertime in Georgia, I decided to wear my original foam foobs today instead of the silicone forms I've been wearing ever since my fitting (18 months).  Oh my word - I can't wait to get home and get rid of these!  I keep having to pull my bra down in the front, and when I do, there is a definite squeaking sound coming from my chest!  lol  I should've experimented on the weekend when I could go home and change.  As it is, I'm just watching the clock, adjusting my chest & listening to the squeak.

I ordered this pair of Milana Genie bras from QVC. The lace overlay comes up quite high on the chest, so fine for peek a boo under a top but also coverage to prevent the gaping & exposing my concaveness when leaning over.

I bought one at WalMart and got a Medium, it was too tight. My other Genie bras are Large (even though I am 116 lbs & used to wear a 34A/B) Anyways I took it back & never found a L in either WalMart I went to. Glad to see them on QVC at a much lower price *2/$20 and in different colors.

I still like the light stretchy No Boundaries bralettes but find that my foobs, even the cup liners with a bit of fiberfill tend to migrate towards the middle. The Genie bras keep it separate!

was hoping the pic would show up!!!!!

They look good Vintage! The Mx style with the lace front like that, which they call a "camisole" bra, are quite expensive.

If you like that high style, you may like the Marika sport crops I mentioned above. They look really good and feel great, under a zip front jacket and no dreaded "Fall Forward". I like them with an athletic jacket zipped to the mid chest. They would work well and be cool to wear, under your leather bike jacket.

They have the modesty pads and they look like you're wearing a nice top under a jacket. There are lots of colors and although they have more support than the Genie style, the bands aren't tight and they are a good cut under the arm so they don't irritate where nodes were removed.

When they're on Sale at under $10.00 each they're a super bargain. Be careful though, they have some styles that are cut a little lower that don't work as well. The best I have found is the "Geo Storm". I just checked the website which has a 40% off sale at the moment, but the Clearance isn't included.

I have mentioned these tops a lot on the boards since finding them, when I first started researching suitable clothing and I know lots of us have them, they only have the crops left in 2 colors now, orange and aqua @ $20.00 down from $60.00.

thanks Ariom, vintage and Georgia! Lots of good information and knowledge from you all! I must check eBay one of these days. Right now I find I'm wearing my silicon foob when I go out or have company and my light weighted foam in a tank at home with the family and close friends. I've been living in sleeveless shirts and tanks as it is hot here now. I know when the weather changes I'll have to figure it all out again. Although wearing layers of clothing as I do in the winter should make it easy.
