esklader, if this helps you- I had to put a little stitch on the edge of the Marlena to hold my prosthetic in there tightly. It fit okay but because the bra is so stretchy, and the opening for the prosthetic is a little big, the foob would slide over too much. It wouldn't fall out but I felt it might and I wanted it in there tighter. I just took some thread and "tacked" with one stitch so the opening is a little smaller. It works fine as the bra is so stretchy and forgiving. I am also a 34B or 36 A depending on the style.

esklader, I know what you mean about that wrinkling, I haven't had it with this bra, but I bought an Amoena Jada which is similar in fabric and that wrinkled, just as you said. I find I am in between cup sizes C&D so when it is this type of fabric I go for the smaller cup.

Bettyboops,I wear lot of black, so the chocolate bra is fine under anything dark. I love it when I find these sales and I can stock up, we never have sales like that, here in Australia for these good brands, which is why I am always looking for new places in the US to buy from.I find Metromedical hard to beat, for great prices.

My new foob is an Amoena 442 Essential light 2S. Much less heavy than the one I've been using. I kept the same size, which is a tiny bit larger than Ms leftover. The next size down was smaller and we decided the slightly larger looked more even.

    hi Ariom,

I got the call from my fitter that my custom foobs are ready and I'm picking them up on Thursday. I'm going to see how they fit inmy Marlena before I buy more bras. I'll let you know.

Has anyone here ever actually knitted a foob? I was thinking of trying one of those knitty titty things. Are they hard to do?

I got the instructions, but they were intimidating because I barely knit. I also couldn't find the yarn. In the winter, yarn shops only seem to have wool.

I can't knit either, but one of my friends made them for me.

I don't knit either, but I had one given to me. I have a problem with it riding up, being a Uni. I prefer having some weight in my foob, but there are lots of women who love these.

I use it for "filling" when I wear my WearEAse compression bra.  With the swell spot on, I need just a little bit of poof to make me look even and the knitted knocker works perfectly for that. All my foobs are too big with the swell spot on.

Ariom - Thanks for the tip about the chocolate colored one being on sale...I went to the site last week, but didn't notice that. My DD was in a play over the weekend, so I'm behind on reading the posts.

I did also notice the wrinkle in the Marlena - I thought it was just me! It's not been enough to be a bother, though, since I haven't been wearing anything fitted.

amygil - I don't knit, either, but my sister has made me a whole bunch of knockers and they are on their way to me now from England. She made some with nipples, some without and just basically did a whole lot of experimenting with the patterns so I will be curious to see what they are like and will definitely post and let everyone know what I think of them.

Ordered a Valetta cami as I needed more supplies from metro medical. Several people said they run small so I am getting a size 12 where I usually wear a 10 as my band size is 32 inches. ( I was a 36 A). Wonder if I should be ordering a size bigger still?

Am very confused with sizing charts. I usually wear size 10 clothes but am bottom heavy (now more than ever). Need to order a bathing suit and more tops for a trip to the beach to relax and heal. Do the other tops and swim suits also run small or just the Valetta? Will find a fitter when healed more but in the meantime have to get something

Chloesmom, I usually go up one size, but there is a lot of stretch in the Valletta.I wear my normal size, in Amoena swimsuits.

The other clothing that I find very comfortable, is either a sports crop top and athletic jacket, zipped up to the chest with the crop showing, teamed with yoga pants or jeans or an Amoena sports top, that comes with a fantastic crop bra, that you wear under it. A casual button front shirt in cotton and elastane, for a bit of stretch worn with a sports crop underneath is a good option for comfort too.

You'll get more ideas when you have been to a fitter later on, but some of these ideas may work for you too.

I treated myself to the Trulife 611's  and I like them! They are more huggable than any other forms I have worn, they are light weight and I felt quite nice in them. I have been very self conscious about getting hugged, like the other person must be feeling hard foam poking them...so these Trulife's are quite fantastic.

I am wearing them in a Cami because I can't have a bra band due to pain...but they are working.

I so much appreciate all of the information I learn here so thanks for sharing!

And PS....mostly I am just my flat and fabulous self, not wearing forms, but I sure do love the possibilities forms give to self esteem when needed!

Chloesmom, that's great news! I have never had any actual contact with them, but I have bought lots of foobs, bras and clothing from them in the past 2 years, I have never had a bad experience and have gotten lots of bargains! Never had a problem with recommending them here.

They were so sweet and called me back to make sure I had all the info I needed. I had changed my mind and they pulled the box so we wouldn't send out the wrong thing and then emailed me back that they had adjusted it all! 3 emails and 2 phone calls back to me just fot a couple of camis on clearance! What customer service!

I also have had great experiences with metromedical and buying camis. Now that it's winter, I'm just wearing foobs in pocketed bras with my regular clothing.

I got my custom foobs! Here is the deal. They are about the weight of the weighted leisure forms that I like. Yay! They are molded to your chest so there is no " migrating" or rubbing. They are made of medical grade foam, the stuff that they make prosthetic ears and noses for burn victims. The main difference is the foam itself is the weight. There is no interior core so they are soft like a real breast. You know, if I had never gotten them I would have been fine. Now that I have them, I really like them. Kind of like a new cell phone. You think the old one is fine but when you get the new one, it's so much better. They look like real breasts, they paint on the aureola area. I didn't want nipples on them but they will do that as well. You can wear them right against your skin in a regular bra if you want. I'm so trained to use the mastectomy bra, I probably won't do that. I have them in my Marlena bra and they look fabulous. I am petite on the top(the hip area is another story!) so the customs fit better with my shape.

My advice is if insurance will pick up most of it, it's worth a go. If not, I would stick with the good quality leisure foam forms from Metromedical. I hope this helps! Let me know if any of you have questions.

Bettyboops, thank you for the update!

Are these custom foobs attachable to the chest like a Contact foob? I don't know why, but I thought that was the point of having these custom made foobs, I may have seen another type which attached and thought they all were. I do like the sound of the prosthetic foam though and how light it is. That's interesting to me, because the fitters are always going on about having to have the weight. I personally much prefer the weight of my foam liesure foobs to the weight of the silicone ones I have, the Contact included.

    Hi Bettyboops,

Glad you like your new forms. You said they are medical-grade foam. Not medical-grade silicone? I've never heard of breast forms made of medical-grade foam. Are they Radiant Impressions? Because those are silicone, though its consistency feels a bit different from other silicone forms. Just wondering because I've never heard of custom-made foam forms and I'd love to know what company and what they look like. Thanks.

Saw someone used the modesty shields from a Genie bra sewn into a bathing suit for a little something. Not a form but just some definition. Will thy hold up in chlorine? The fitter doesn't want to measure me for micro rads until 6 weeks post BMX and we are going to the beach at 4 weeks for some rest and get away.

    hi Ariom,

Yes, you can wear them right against the skin if you want. I don't see the need for me but the option is there. The weight is perfect for me, just like the weighted leisure form.

I say give it a try and see if they hold up in chlorine!  I probably have extras that I could mail you!

    hi Erica,

Yes, they radiant impressions. They are medical grade silicone "foam," not the usual gel like the heavy silicon foobs. I said foam before because they look and feel like a foam. They are not at all like the other silicone foobs that I have. I think they are way too heavy. I don't get that weight is good. I feel much better with something more lightweight. The custom foobs are weighted just like the weighted leisure form. That is perfect for me.

I think hey will be fine. I bought a Lands End mastectomy bathing suit which came with privacy shields in the foob pockets. You know, I just left them in there and didn't even have to use a foob. Much better because I didn't have to worry about drying out foobs after swimming. I do have the microbead foobs but the privacy shields made them unnecessary, since I'm flat on both sides and do not have a big frame. Sounds like fun to get away- I'd love to escape the winter. Not in the cards for me though. Have fun!

Thanks for suggestions. I will be with family and off work so don't have the $ for a new bathing suit. They had planned to rent a beach condo to relax as our cousin is also recovering from a health issue and had invited us to come along to keep them company. Who would have thought I'd be needing to recover at the same time! I plan to try to sew the shields into one of my old tankinis so it isn't so hollow. Not too worried about it as it is just family and they know I'm now flat and fab

Thankfully I was sold on Genie bras pre BC. Have a box full of the shields to experiment with. I only wore them in the bra when wearing a dressy T shirt when my headlights might show. Put Velcro on the bottom outside edges to keep them from sliding in the pocket. Hoping when the scars heal I can get some use out of the old bras as the rib cage is still the same circumference. If they ride up and I have to get mastectomy bras do be it. I have already set up with a fitter in Baltimore to get measured in Feb.

I added a pocket to my swim suit (I'm a uni) and twisted netting to make a fairly small poof. I tried following the instructions and couldn't so I just twisted and sewed it together by hand (big stitches) like doing a rag rug. The genii shields are covered, so should work even if they disintegrate inside. Fabric stores (JoAnn here) have cheaters in the shoulder pad part of the store.

Sorry, Bettyboops, I meant are your custom foobs "attachable" to the chest, like the Amoena Contact? With a sticky backing, that can be also be covered with a fabric cover, to wear in a normal bra.

The only custom I have ever seen, it was a picture, but it was identical to this woman's other side, it was for a Uni and it attached to the skin for total symmetry. It even had some fine, blue veins and was perfectly color matched to the skin with a perfect nipple and areola.
