long day today with the MRI in the morning and chemo in the afternoon. It was quite strange having afternoon chemo after a year starting at 8:30. Can't say I enjoyed it much and am glad I'm back to mornings from next week.
I'm not that worried about the MRI and don't think it will show anything. Its just Ruben being extra cautious. I'm glad he is though

Hi Shazza. Good that today is done! As far as chemo & MRI anyway.
I'm glad you're back to your preferred time for chemo next week. These 'little things' do help, I hate to feel powerless & have no say on when or what when it comes to treatment etc.
Glad you're not worried too
I'm stuffed again! Work then a wee rest then cleaning out our ensuite so it can be refurbished starting tomorrow. Its typical- needed doing when we moved in & now that we're putting the house on the market we're finally getting around to doing it! (bought the new vanity etc last year! its been sitting in the spare room)
At least we'll get to use it for a short (hopefully!) time...
Hope everyone's had a good day

hi ladies
I have been following posts just not replied lately. I have been to my GP and oncologist (not Rueben lol - pity he not in Wellington too :-)) though the one I am seeing Neil Wilson is very nice. He's actually the rad onc as my medical onc discharged me after treatment last year. Anyway my back has been playing up for about 3 months now and in the last 3 weeks my stomach has too. So I had my blood tests done and there are about 4/5 abnormal results - including liver enzymes and higher than normal range calcium levels. I know high calcium can be a result of bone mets. And my liver enzymes were raised about 6 months before I was diagnosed with breast cancer - so I am wondering what's going on.
Any rate Dr Wilson said he's not too overly concerned but I am going for a complete chest, back and pelvic scan as soon as they book it in.
I guess I'm still floating around in no man's land at the moment trying to find out what's what.
Besides all that things are ticking along as they do
I have one of those armchair rugby refs at my house too :-)
Weather been cold here - the odd nice Spring day but could do with a few more.
Have a good day ladies.
Much love x

Kruise I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you. It's a pity they can't clone Ruben although his funny little ticks and habits aren't for everyone and I'm sure your guy is great. In fact all the oncologists I've met over the past year have been great. They are all really passionate about their chose specialty. I think we are so lucky to have the quality of care we do in such a small country.
I need to swing into action and get to Pilates and then work. There's no rest for the wicked. Have a great day everyone

Hi Kruise, sorry you're feeling like you're in no man's land with off blood tests etc. Hope it turns out to be ok. I guess you had scans when you were first diagnosed, so they can compare results this time?
Here's to longer days & warmer weather! I'm looking forward to summer too- I hate the cold & we're nowhere near as cold as you down in Wellington
Enjoy pilates Shazza. I just realised I can't go on Friday because I booked a hair appointment without thinking about the time...silly.
I have a day off, yay, I think I need it. I was a bit grumpy last night
Have a good one

KT I think I've turned grumpy into an art form. Especially in the evenings

I'm glad I'm not the only one!

Good morning all.
Just popped in to say hi. Kruize, my friend had Neil Wilson and loved him.
Shazza and kt take it easy on yourselves and do what you can. Grumpy can be good.
Big hugs.

Thanks, Alyson
Hugs to you too!

Well I have found out my scan date - 8 September at 1.20pm. So just over a week to wait. Have to drink some stuff beforehand too to help with imaging apparently.
Thanks for the thoughts Shazza, kt and Alyson. Not looking forward to it - it always freaks me out doing those things just the unknown but better to know than being kept in the dark I suppose.
Yes kt I had a petscan and an MRI before treatment so they should be able to compare. I'm just hoping it's not my friend who will be reading the results - that's what she does at the Hospital - radiologist. I don't want any pity phone calls or anything from her if it's not good news.
I am just going to spend the next week doing some nice activities and not thinking about it till Monday the 8th. We have a christening to go to on Sunday.
Alyson, I agree with your friend, - Neil Wilson is nice. When I first met him he reminded me of an aging rocker out of a rock band (a bit like Rod Stewart lol).
Shazza and kt - you guys are good doing Pilates. I've never really tried it. So you enjoy it obviously? Maybe I should give it a go.
Well Blimmin Daffodil Day tomorrow - lol. Nothing like going out and about and seeing that 1 in every 3 NZers are affected by cancer. Tell us something we don't know!! :-)
Actually I know the Cancer Society do a great job and I support it - I'm just being grumpy - coz we can :-) :-)

Kruise I have a MRI on the 8th as well, having problems with my shoulder and the specialist has decided we need to check it out thoroughly because it has been going on for too long.
I don't mind daffodil just hate October and all the pink. I actually like pink but wish firms wouldn't cash in on it. Breast cancer is not pretty and pink and I know the BCF does a wonderful job here in NZ and really helps unlike some of the groups in the US.
Must get to bed as at a conference tomorrow and the weekend and it starts at 8am.
Big hugs.

Kruise & Alyson, I hope your scans go well, will be thinking of you.
Good idea to keep busy Kruise. Fun activities is the answer, a Christening will be lovely.
I agree re the pink stuff. Terrible tho, how many people are affected by cancer- so many different types. I guess we need the fundraising. It would be great if they could find cures & maybe even learn how to prevent cancer in the first place.
I hate that the pink stuff is so focused on awareness not cure.
Pilates is nice because its quite gentle, but still a good workout- I always feel better after it- & it will help support my poor old bones
Well, I better hang out the washing & then go get my hair cut.
Catch you later

Hope your MRI came back ok Shazza.
Hope everyone had a good weekend too
I just had a scare today. I was going to let the chooks out & was standing on the carport steps about to reach for my gumboots when I found my self falling, landed on my butt & whacked my head on the concrete floor (1 meter down). Luckily my dad was here, so he took me to drs & they sent me for xrays.
No bones broken and no concussion But very sore so I need to rest & take ibuprofen & use heat packs...
It must have been dizziness from the xeloda, I've never experienced anything like that before!
Damn & I've got lots to do- the builder has got the ensuite to a paintable point, I was going to do that- might have to farm it out now. I have work on Wednesday too- hope I'm better by then!
Hope you all are having a good day- with no freak accidents!

Oh my KT that sounds awful and a little bit scary. Hope you're not sore for too long. I definitely prescribe a couple of days rest at least.
I haven't heard anything about my MRI so I'm going with no news is good news

jeepers kt that sounds sore and not nice at all. Did u remember feeling a bit dizzy or just remember falling? Good job your Dad was around to look after you.
Yes Shazza - hopefully no news is good news. Fingers crossed.
Feeling very tired tonight so time for bed for me.

Hope you had a good sleep, Kruise
No news is good news- yeah, Shazza
I think falling yesterday has shaken my confidence- I'm a bit scared it will randomly happen again. I don't remember how I fell- must have fainted I think- but I remember hitting the ground! The car had a dent in the passenger door so I must have smacked that with my head on the way down. Weird. Bit stiff & sore today, but I'll live.
I think I'll have a very quiet day- no work so I'll head back to bed & read for a bit

Hi all
scary stuff kt, you're right to take it easy, so is this a SE of xeloda?
fingers crossed for all the scans to be ok for everybody!

I read the long list of SE's after my fall & yes, dizziness & loss of balance are a SE. The weird thing is I don't remember feeling dizzy. Oh well, such is life.
I've swapped shifts with my friend & am working tomorrow & Friday, to have another day of recovery before I go back
Hows it going with you, Woody? Have you hopped back on your horse yet? We've just sent ours off for a trial with some other people- we need to find homes for our animals before we move (haven't put the house on the market yet- but soon). I hope the letrozole is going ok.
Its sunny here today Enjoy your day wherever you all are

Hugs to all.
Do hope you are all doing OK. It has been a hard week so far especially with the death of Rae's (Raeinnz) daughter in an accident in Wellington on the weekend. Just 24 I cannot imagine anything worse.
Big hugs for you Kt and do be careful.

Hi kt, still not back on the horse yet, she's quietly grazing away...haven't made up my mind if I should keep her or not, she's sort of my dreamhorse, lovely appaloosa x, afraid if i sell her, I'll never get on a horse again...on the other hand she is quite spirited. No hurry. Other than that things are not too bad, work has settled down, recently had a CT san, bonescan, mammogram & ultrasound and sofar all good. Spring's coming, just hope that the rain will soon stop!

Oh and had my first haircut last week since Iost my hair - felt strangely attached to all my hair and was hesitant to cut any off!

Hi everyone. Crappy day here in Auckland and I'm so tired I worry I won't be able to make through another day of work. However this time it's for a good reason - I went to Queen and Adam Lambert last night. OMG it was amazing (hehe I sound like a 16 year old). My boss went the night before and she loved it so much she shouted me and another workmate. She took us out for dinner in Auckland and paid for everything. Even dropped me home afterwards so I could have a drink. I had 3 wines which is a lot for me and was like an excited schoolgirl. I never ever go out so it was pretty special. I have always loved Queen and have been a big fan of Adam Lambert since I first saw him on American Idol. Needless to say he didn't disappoint. But I think I'm just too old to manage on 4 hours sleep. Up for work this morning at 5:30am. On the health front, my armpit is still bothering me and I am going to the Doctor next week because I've been having really bad tummy pains. I'm sure I have an ulcer, probably from all the worry but need to get it looked at. It's just so horrible having an overactive imagination isn't it? Also going to the Lymphedema clinic on the 16th, think it's just one of those appointments people get after breast surgery. Hope you all have a lovely weekend. I'm going to spend it in the garden and sewing two new tops for summer. Take care everyone. Donna xxx

At least your hair was long enough to need a cut, Woody! Well done Glad your scans are good.
Thanks, Ang... I'm doing ok just real tired. Trying not to think to far ahead right now. Hope you are well
I worked again today- still really sore, just have to walk slowly etc.
DH is going down to Taupo to go racing today, coming home early tomorrow night, late as we have a family lunch for Fathers Day. I get left to deal with painting the ensuite etc terrific! Another real estate agent coming thru for a look on Sunday...
Sounds like you had a fun night Fizzdon, despite being tired Hope your appts go well too
Have a good weekend

Hope you all had a good weekend. Yesterday was fantastic- beautiful, warm sunny day- we need more of those!
Today is overcast and cold
Our Father's day lunch was nice- all my side of the family (DH, kids, Mum, Dad, brother & family, sister & family & DH's dad). Turned up to pick up F-I-L & he was up a ladder (at 87 yrs) cleaning out the gutters! That's despite having it on the calendar & a phone call reminder the night before
Well, better go get ready for a walk/coffee with a friend. It might be a slow short walk as I'm still quite sore (mainly my pelvis where the ischium mets are)
Have a good day

Hope everyone had a good weekend. I went to Hawkes Bay to visit my father who is in a dementia unit down there.
Had some good news re my MRI it shows that my bone mets are stable. My pain is being caused by degenerative disc disease. So just a normal age related thing. I have a CT scan later in the month to see how my lungs and liver are going but I guess if my bones are stable everything else will be too.
I just can't seem to shake the cough that's run rampart through the household but my bloods say I'm well enough for chemo tomorrow .

Had MRI today. No results as yet - will get them Wednesday. Hoping for arthritis progression.
Loads of coughs around. Want to avoid such things as we are off to Brisbane on Saturday.
Big hugs

Hope your cough goes soon Shazza. Good news on the MRI
Alyson & Kruise, hope your scans went well today & you get good results.
Brisbane sounds nice, Alyson.
My son was off school with a cough today too, so it seems to be very common at the mo. Roll on summer!

hi ya - yep had CT scan today as planned. Had to start drinking that iodine glow in the dark water a few hours before - Ioscan I think it's called
Plus had the contrast injection during it too.
No results at all - will let you know when I do. Alyson hope yours all ok - was thinking of you getting yours done also today. Shazza good news about your MRI and bone mets stable. Yes hoping everything else is good therefore too.
Kt - your Father's Day sounded good - and good your house is coming along for putting on the market by the sounds of it. Great stuff.
I have an early start tomorrow as working for St John all day tomorrow. So night everyone. X

Phew- finished the painting. The builder is doing the finishing off in the ensuite (shower, vanity etc)- so just a few touchups when he's done. Good feeling, it was pretty tiring doing it.
Sounds like you had a busy day the other day, Kruise. I hope your CT results are good- how long do you have to wait?
Hope your results yesterday were good too, Alyson
Have a fantastic day all
