does anyone have problems with legs? I don't have tingling, numbness. General severe aches in thighs, knees, is actually have to stop after walking .

Pain pills help, but then I get constipated. Nausea at bay .....take Zofran for about three days after taxol

Doing glutamine, all b vitamins, magnesium , cranberry tea extract, coconut oil toothpaste and in coffee whe I can drink it, one green smoothie a day with flax

    Thanks warriors

Hi everyone-I did #4 out of 12 Taxol on Thursday plus Herceptin. Terrible metal taste in my mouth today plus heartburn and fatigue. Nails are getting odd-sore in corners and darkening. And a red, itchy rash on the back of my head. Help! What do you do about the rash?

Tobycc, I get general overall pain in my muscles and joints and where it is focuses changes over the course of the week between the treatments. My main aches are in my back and shoulders. I currently have not experienced any tingling or numbness. I also take the glutamine, all b vitamins, vitamin d and a mutli-vitamin.

April, I do have darkening of the nails but no soreness. I use tea tree oil multiple times a week, ice my nails during treatment and also use the nail strengthener and dark nail polish.

ladyb thanks for mentioning that some of your aches move around from treatment to treatment. Mine do too and I thought it was weird. I do consistently have some achiness in my hips/ upper thighs but usually just when I get up. My tongue is still fried which is driving me nuts.

    Hi all,

Just checking in to see how you are doing.

Tobycc, I had horrible muscle ache's while on Taxol! My thighs and calves hurt so bad I could barely walk. Every morning I woke up with my arms aching so badly, I could hardly dress myself. I am now twelve weeks PFC. and feeling better every day. No more muscle aches at all. Still dealing with neuropathy though.

April8, I took all the supplements my MO recommended...B complex, calcium, magnesium, Vitamin D 3, ect. I still had nail darkening and soreness. Nurses told me I would probably lose my nails. Well, my nails never fell off and as they are growing in, they look normal. They no longer hurt either. I also developed a rash, but it was on the back of my hands and up my forearms. He said take Benadryl...it helped! Rash was gone in a few days. But I still have a few toenails that are purple. They didn't even turn until a few weeks AFTER I was finished taxol! They don't hurt though.

I think the two weeks following my treatment was the worst for me. I assumed I would feel better, but didn't. Now I can look back and see how far I've come. It really does get better.

Nancy2581, I still use the Biotene mouthwash every night. It helped a lot with the dry tongue for me.

Wishing you all minimal SE's, lilyrose

lily rose I deem you hero for the day! I was so hopeful someone would validate this pain so I would not worry!!!!

Did it lessen throughout treatment at all? Would rather be prepared. No arms...legs, neck. Pain pills work....then constipation ;)

After 2 treatments then a skip for low numbers then 3 treatments of Taxol and herceptin they are stopping the taxol. I have been in and out of the hospital for the last 3 weeks.Taxol just didn't agree with me . All my numbers had dropped after almost every treatment and was admitted 3 weeks ago unable to stop throwing up with diarrhea. They got everything to stop and they finally got my numbers up after 4 transfusions to send me home to heal a little . 2 days later back to my local hospital with pneumonia .Finally came home Thursday. Seems like I have almost every side effect you can get with Taxol and it played with my blood pressure like a yoyo. MO figured since I had heart issues taxol was the best of the drugs for my chemo. Been 4 weeks since last treatment and finally starting to feel better pneumonia knocked for a loop too. Everyone is different I was an unlucky one will see MO beginning of December to start herceptin treatments. Hang tough one day at a time.

Just curious if anyone has bumped up or delayed weekly taxol by 24 hours?

The chemo nurses and the clerk said that I could bump up my infusion by a day so that I could go on a mini holiday with my friends. But I can't find anything on it?

PS Tomorrow is my third Taxol infusion. So far not too bad.

    Woohoo! Thanks Jean and Lady!

I'm selfishly doing some cross border shopping for Black Friday! We go every year and don't want to miss out! LOL

The best part is that this is #12! I'll be all done chemo! I'm getting my PICC line pulled out after the infusion, jumping on the ferry and crossing the border!

Islandmama....I have chemo this fri and then next wed before thanksgiving since infusion center is closed for turkey day. So that's five days apart. I thought if you can get dose dense, then getting weeklies a little closer together will not be a big deal.

The nurses give me a shot of Benadryl prior to my taxol.  They say it is to keep me from having a reaction as it is common.  I have a lot of the joint and body ache.

I had my third Taxol infusion this morning. The port really helps. Took a really long nap this afternoon as hubby and I had to leave a little after 5am to get down to Sloan Kettering by 8am. Long trip but totally worth it for the great care I get there. I also get Decadron (sp), Benedryl and Pepcid infusions before the Taxol. Along with Taxol I am getting herceptin/perjeta every 3 weeks and that will continue for a year! Possibly more lymph node surgery after Taxol then radiation. This is a long journey for sure. I am grateful for the support of God, my hubby, good friends and for you precious ladies. Love, Jean

I get Herceptin every week.  No more Taxol though.  The made the decision today to stop it due to the neuropathy.  I only had 3 left, so they said no big.  Herceptin weekly until next sept., then the 5-10 year pill.  Still waiting to see if rad will be done.

did anyone have to do neupogen shots on taxol? My absolute neutrophils were at 1.6 before taxol # 6. My MO thinks I will have to do neupogen next week after #7. I am having my blood checked on Monday (day before #7) to see if I have to have a neupogen shot before #7. I don't want to skip any treatments and be delayed as I am so ready to be finished.

    Nancy

Missing mercury when did your neuropathy start? Were you taking any glutamine?

    Hello Weekly Taxol Group,

Tomorrow, my first Weekly taxol occurs. We had it scheduled for last week, but because my doctor was out of town, and I'm pregnant, they cancelled me. I was really disappointed after being all ready to go. So fingers crossed, all goes well tomorrow. I am using the frozen mittens and booties for neuropathy, as well as cold capping. I'm afraid I won't be able to drink water or go to the bathroom for the treatment. I'll drink lots after the booties come off. It looks like we'll only get four or five treatments done before my c-section (second set of twins) and then my MO said I should schedule my lumpectomy after my section. That would give me maybe as much as nine weeks off in the middle of taxol. My MO says no problem, but it worries me. Has anyone had experience with such a long break in the course of treatments

Gato.....two sets!!! That is such a gift!!!!! My twins will be 20 on 12/4

So you think you won't be able to drink cause of the mittens?

I am getting red spots again. On legs. No itch, or pain. Really scared though because I got taken off taxotere due to reaction . That was spots, but then burn on bottom of feet and hands.

    Anyone else with spots?

Gato, will think and pray for you tomorrow!

The neuropathy started lightly after two or three weeks.  It just built up and, while it would go away in my hands, really didn't in my toes.  Now my feet slap the floor when I walk and there is numbness and also stinging all across the bottom of my feet.  My finger tips are all numb now also.  My last taxol was Weds. the 12th.  Yesterday I started getting joint pain all over to the point that by 11am I had to leave work and come home.  My fingers are so bad I had to get someone to push the button to unlock my car.  Every joint in my body hurt, especially hands and feet.

Gatomal, Wow! Two sets! What a blessing! Good luck with your treatments.

Missing mercury, I developed neuropathy around my fifth infusion. Had really numb feet and toes. I had to watch my feet as I walked because I couldn't feel where I was putting them. I'm 12 weeks out from taxol- and it has gotten a bit better. I can feel my heels and my big toes. So walking is easier. I'm hoping the rest of my feet will get better too. It's only been about two weeks since they have improved. My fingertips are still numb tho. :(. I have a hard time doing certain things because of that. The muscle aches in my arms and legs are completely gone. Yay! I took the supplements my MO ordered to help, so I tell myself it could have been worse. My PCP also said to continue the supplements for several months. He thinks the neuropathy will lessen as time goes on. That's what I'm icing for. Good luck
