pcranky, I was just wondering how you were doing yesterday! So sorry to hear that it's not going great. I'm actually at Perlmutter on Tuesdays for the AC, so I will keep an eye out for you next week.

Yellowb! I'm so excited that you might be there?
are you still on 5? I'm on 6 but maybe i can sneak down at some point on the way in or out. PM me when you'll be there and i'll do the same.
How are you tolerating aC?

Rockymountaingirl....Thanks so much for telling me about your driving issues. The therapy has helped me gain strength in my legs...it's just these darn feet. My right foot does not bend like my left one. I'm anxious to give it a try, but I'll wait until my daughter has time to be with me. Like you, I would not drive any far distance...just get me to the grocery etc.
Hope

pcranky, I will be on 5! And I'll send you my real name so you can ask the nurses -- I should be there from 11:30 to 3 or so (the AC takes a lot longer to infuse).
It's ... okay, I'd say. I feel worse than on Taxol, but there's a whole extra week to recover, so the second week is not bad. The worst of it so far has been digestive issues, and general weakness. And the fact I want to sleep all the time!

Just saw this.. I'll run down when i finish at noonish provided i feel better than I did after last weeks

I go for my 2nd Taxol treatment tomorrow. I woke up very congested yesterday and today. I’m just curious if congestion is a SE OF taxol. I was really congested with my other chemo regimen for melanoma a few years ago. It is hard to tell if it is a SE or if I’m getting a cold. I may just be a little worn down too. I’m a SPED teacher and we had parent teacher conferences this week. We had kids all day and then evening conferences so Iworked from 7am to 9pm 3 days this week and then normal hours today. Other then the congestion and feeling tired I’m doing pretty good

I felt like I developed a cold during chemo but in hindsight it might have been an allergy. I think I read about a lot of women having a cough.Whatever it was it resolved on its own before the end of chemo.
0 -
SisterStrong, I was congested for the first 3 or 4 weeks on Taxol. I'm not sure if it resolved or I just moved around my allergy regimen til it became unnoticeable. But I think that, and the cough, are common SEs.

yellowB and Ingerp, thanks for getting back to me about the congestion. I hate having a cough because I am so worried that I am going to pee my pants- sorry that is probably to much info but the truth. I think I was also a little worried that I was going to go and have them tell me that I couldn't have chemo that day but I was able to have it and happy to say I didn't have a bad reaction this time. My MO suggested mucinex so I will see if that helps.
I hope everyone is having a good weekend!

I made a bit of lazy days and I think my neuropathy is a bit better..... last cycle I made autumn garden work and then we were planting trees in the orchard and I forgot to bring gloves with me... my soles burned and fingertips too. This week I'm doing just the usual housework and only a bit of garden work (light pruning and leaves raking, with gloves) and the feet are much better and there's no problem with the hands. So I think I will have to play everything down a bit. My MO was speaking about stopping the Taxol, which freaked me out, I only got 5 so far. I hope she will be pleased with my being "good" and I will be able to get no. 6 and some more.
No other SE's so far. no bowel issues, no rash, nothing. I put on some 4 pounds, but I guess that's good, was a bit underweight

Hello ladies! I hope everyone is doing well and if you’re not, I hope you’re coping well!
Five more to go! I’ve started walking around the neighborhood now that it’s not 100 degrees anymore! I need to burn some calories! I had great plans of continuing the gym (haha) or at least doing regular exercise during chemo, and that has not panned out. I’m going to publically pledge to walk at least a quarter mile every day!
Anyone else doing or wanting to do exercise??
0 -
Hi Misha - I'm in Surprise so appreciate your heat problem. Even our dog wanted to walk less. I did manage to play 9 holes of golf 2-3 times a week all summer. In fact, am having more trouble getting my steps in and holding my weight during overseeing. But I know I feel better when I walk. A fitbit has helped. I am "friends" with some local folks but also 2 who were part of my "starting chemo Feb '17 group. I know I am more accountable to exercise when someone else is involved and I encourage you to try to find a partner. I think there is an exercise group here on BC.org. Your past the half-way point!

I was doing a lot of walking during AC, also garden work and such. But now during Taxol I am not able to keep up the walking - I have to restrict it in fact. The soles of my feet are burning when I walk a lot. It's deffinitelly from the Taxol. When I did 16000steps my feet were on fire. I bought a fitbit band as a reward after the last AC. But now I am using it to resttrict my number of steps per day 🤨
I am trying some light yoga instead. And I went swimming with the kids, which was really refreshing. (Mind you, going with the kids doesn't mean I got to swim. They are just preschoolers, so they need constant supervisoin in the pool. But still, the water was very refreshing).
AND after 6th Taxol I can dance: Hair is growing, wooow, I am growing hair, teeny tiny fuzz, but it's deffinitelly there!!!! 💃 (well, ehm, still totally bald, but a bit of tiny growth is there for sure!)

Put a fork in it, I'm done! Finito! Last Taxol Tx yesterday!!! WooHooo!!!!!
Met the RO this morning. Simulation on 11/2 and start on 11/15 so I'll be done by the end of the year.
What a year 2018 has been!!
Thank you to everyone on this thread for helping with questions and support!! See you on the rads thread.

Good afternoon
I had a not so good day on Tuesday. Bone, muscle pain, diarrhea and a headache all day. I felt malaise. My open breast wound was so sensitive to touch and painful. I just wanted to crawl up in fetal position, but I had to work from home.By Wednesday I was a bear to live with because of the pain. My husband found the Dilaudid I had left from surgery and said to take one.. I’m glad I did.. I awoke on Thursday feeling almost like new. Seen NP from plastic surgery on Thursday and I may need a skin graft to close the wound. That’s another surgery. I can’t have radiation if I have an open wound. They can’t do s skin graft while I’m on Taxol. I just had the 5th dose of Taxol and Herceptin. 7 more to go and yes I’m counting. I’m alive and blessed so I will have to take the good with the bad. I didn’t ice with this infusion. I got lazy and it was cold in the infusion unit despite wearing my cozy Chemotherapy fleece jacket, wrap in a fleece blanket. You can tell I don’t like cold

Cowgirlsdon’tcry. I finished my 4th and last A/C last week. I didn’t have any real problems. I tried to avoid yard work while blood counts very low but they always recovered. Next week I have CT scan to see if tumors, especially lymph nodes, shrunk enough for surgery or go straight to 12 weekly taxols. I hope they shrunk but I would almost rather get all the chemo out of the way. Anyone else have surgery in the middle

Hi Taco! Always good to see a fellow Arizonan! I will see if they have an exercise group on here, but I already feel energized from walking daily for 4 days! I hope to keep it up!
JaBoo-I swear I have fuzz on my head as well and I figured I just didn’t notice it before! Can it really be hair during Taxols?? Was filling in my brows last night and saw it. Anyone else have this?
Congrats kdrake on finishing chemo!!! Good luck with rads!
Taxol # 8 on Monday!

Misha - good for you! Some Y's have exercise classes just for cancer patients. I'm a senior and we have lots of classes in the community. Must admit I haven't made close contacts in the stretch and flex class I get to occasionally and don't seem to be as accountable in getting there. Keep walking.

Asknomore, sorry you are feeling this way! Taxol IS hard and I went through DD AC and still say this.
Misha, yes, hair is deffinitelly growing now! Teeny tiny, but dark, so it shows.
I'm thinking of going to yoga class tommorrow, but I'll just have to wait and see how I will be feeling
Taxol no. 7 today! I had a freak out in the evening, in front of a mirror. My whole face was covered in dark red spots, like a rash or something!! .... well, now I know why the kids were chuckling when I was putting them to bed!!! I cut a large pomegranade for dessert after dinner... so voilá, the rash was gone with a handfull of water. 🙂

Jaboo! I hope you weren't wearing white when you cut the pomegranate! And I hope you're feeling well enough for yoga. When all this is over, it will be so nice to make plans and be able to expect to really do what we plan.
I've just graduated to 12x weekly Taxol after fortnightly AC. One day after the first round, I'm feeling OK. Less nausea, and reduced sore mouth and nasal congestion, though I was pretty wiped out last night and then couldn't sleep. Every day a new adventure, eh? This morning I managed my standard 4.5km walk around our hilly suburb, and a bit of gardening (pruning a strelitzia). Which has made my arm swell a little, whoops. Luckily I'm off to see the lymphedema practitioner on Friday. Looks like I'll be needing a sleeve. Someone on the lymphedema thread suggested independent wealth is a good starting point for that, and I fear she may be right!
Like us all, I'm very anxious about neuropathy side effects from Taxol. They seem to be one of the most life-limiting effects, and I'm so sorry to hear of people needing to restrict walking as Jaboo has mentioned. I hope that resolves quickly so you can freely enjoy your walking again.
Greetings to all
Susan

Misha and Jaboo
I shaved my head October 1st and I actually have little hairs growing too!! Annoyed by the acne from the “roids” but love seeing hair growth. Makes me hopeful it will grow fast. I go for number 8 of 16 of taxol tomorrow. My nails are starting to lift 😭

Ginger...You're lucky you see hair growing. I had 15 Taxol infusions and didn't see any hair for 3 months after I was finished. I am 7 months out and my hair is about and inch or so out, but not evenly distributed.
Hope

JaBoo-Your pomegranate story was a hoot! Love it!
Ginger-Yes it is definitely hair growth! I’m glad others are getting it too!
Nonahope-I’m sorry to hear yours took so long to grow!
So, I have Taxol #9 on Monday and I see the breast surgeon on Wednesday. I thought I knew exactly what I wanted and now I’m not sure. It was BMX all the way with reconstruction; now I’m wondering if maybe that’s too much surgery. I’m just worried if I don’t, then I’ll worry too much about the other breast! I know I have at least one node because they found it on the ultrasound and biopsied it, so that makes me think I’m right about the BMX. Argh!! Any insights are appreciated!
Hope everyone’s weekend is good!

JaBoo I love the red rash story. I had the 6th dose of Taxol today. Not bad ,a little hype from the small dose of steroids. I did ice this time.As usual I sat there watching the clock counting the minutes until it was done.By Sunday they will wear off but in the mean time,I’m hoping to get the chance to sew a little bit. I hope everyone have a good weekend

I'm glad you all liked my pomegranade rash story! I knew you here would understand the first shock and then the relief 😀
SuefromSydney, welcome to postgraduate chemo 😁 Good luck with your walking! Be wary of neuropathy, but then - some people never get it. Walking is a great chemo-flusher.
Gingerobrian, you have some kind of different regime, don't you, with 16 Taxol tx?
Misha, good luck at your surgical appointment. I would suggest you to read a lot about your possibilities and then ask a lot of questions at the app. and also from your MO...
Asknomore, are you sewing as a hobby? I sew quite a lot for the whole family... And just recently, like 2 weeks ago, I started again. (The whole diagnosis and tx and appointments made me put that away for a bit). Luckily I feel just a tiny bit of neuropathy in my hands, it doesn't interfere with handiwork at all.
I am taking things very easy after the 7th Taxol. The neuropathy in my feet is almost constant, but not too bad. But when I walk a lot, then I would get horrible burning in the soles of my feet. I am icing my feet+hands during infusion and I think it is deffinitelly helping with the nails - they are quite normal and pink as usual. Both my thumbs have a tiny shade of brown in the middle and I think it's because they both keep slipping away from the cooling pads. Have to concentrate more on those two. I don't knoe if the cooling help against neuropathy, but who knows what would I get in terms of neuropathy without the cooling...
I went to yoga class and it felt wonderfull. But now my neglected belly muscles are aching

JaBoo...Just remember that Taxol is cumulative. My neuropathy got much worse after I was finished with my Taxol infusions.

Hope, I had the same experience. Neuropathy got much worse after I finished. My last Taxol was about a month ago and my neuropathy is at its worst so far. Hoping it doesn't get much worse. Good luck, everyone!
