Definitely need a like button. And agree totally with no guilt. Every life is precious and priceless. And we pay amazing taxes here in NZ. About 33%. And I remember what US insurance costs!

Bluefrog - good luck with the scans and hope your vacation is great.

50s - drum roll indeed! Congrats! That's a huge improvement!

    Hugs to all,

    Terre

50s girl, that drop in TMs is unbelievable! Good for you!!!!

Bluefrog, you have a very full day tomorrow! I hope you can take Thursday to kick back and relax, as I'm sure you'll be emotionally and physically exhausted and maybe not feeling so hot after all that scanning. You will be in my thoughts & prayers! And wow, you're disciplined to wait until after your vacation for the results! Hopefully the fact that you feel so normal means your results will be all good!

Cristina, I just took a minute to look up the SEs for the pain meds you're on and wasn't all that surprised to find depression on the list for Subsys. I suspect you're aware of this, but if not, it may be contributing to your dark moods -- as if having Stage IV bc wasn't enough to do it! Anyway, maybe something to be aware of or even discuss with your onc.

Deanna, I like that story since my ON said not to come back till the end of January. I saw him today to discuss my MRI of last week that showed regression of the larger mets but some progression of smaller ones in my lower spine. So--mixed results that really have no explanation. Bottom line is that we are staying on these meds and will do another MRI in late January. I am going to try and not worry about it.

Ellen - sorry for the mixed results, but anytime regression occurs, it can't be a bad thing. Seems like a lot of mixed results lately. Interesting. And this means you can get through the holidays without scanxiety!

    Hugs to all,

Ellen, I'm 100% with Terre on this. I like to be well-involved, even though my brain is mush, but youu deserve to enjoy your holidays and praise God for the many gifts you have received. I'm falling asleep, so I hope you are sleeping tight and warm. I have to tell you, I'm so glad my first group I joined here was this one. I joined one recently because I need the info. I feel about as welcome as a mole in a garden. Until tomorrow.

Also, didn't we have a member named Blondie? I know she wasn't doing well, but she still wanted to get outside and enjoy it. Her profile picture showed her with oxygen Has anyone heard from her?

Aurora, Thinking of you tonight and hoping you are resting well and recovering from your surgery.

Bluefrog, Good luck with all your scans tomorrow! I'm glad to hear you feel pretty normal most days, that is a good sign. Enjoy your vacation, results can wait.

Ellen, Mixed results are so frustrating! Hope you are feeling well on your current tx.

Lynne, Great news on those TMs! Pretty dramatic fall, got to like that.

KCM, saw your beautiful quilt on another thread! Good things come to good people. Won't it look lovely in your new to you house?

Dune, I know what you mean, but don't let it bother you. This group is just extra warm & fuzzy.

    Thanks to you all!

Hey Dune - you're always welcome here and on any thread I'm on. If they make you feel unwelcome, let me know and I'll come be obnoxious and make you look wonderful by default. :)

Blondie is still around...she posted here recently: https://community.breastcancer.org/forum/8/topics/...

She looks pretty good in her new profile pic! It's interesting that there are a few around the boards who I quite frankly figured were not going to be with us much longer (bad on me, I know). They just looked so sick, nothing was working, they were in hospital or hospice, etc. And then they pop up months or even a year later and they're doing great. A couple are now NED. Wowsa! Good reminder and lesson for me.

    Hi Everyone!

Long day out in the garden, but boy did I get alot done!

Linda, I get my ferry fare covered, not really transportation per se. And only if the Dr or appt isn't available on my island, so my PCP isn't covered because there are 4 of them here. But I'm surprised that you have to pay for Aredia, do you also have to pay for AI's? These are all provided through the hospital as part of my treatment.

Bluefrog, Best wishes for your scans tomorrow! I agree, try to enjoy your vacation, results can wait, but it's hard, kind of always plays on your mind.

Ellen, Mixed results are so frustrating, seems like there's a lot of that going around these days.

Lynne, those TM numbers are amazing! Let's keep our fingers crossed that they continue their downward slide.

Hi to everyone else on the thread, I've got to go to bed, I'm beat, I'll get caught up tomorrow. Take care, cheers, Dee

    Good morning all,

Dee, yes I pay for my AIs. Only IV chemo is given at the hospital and free. Aredia and the like are given in a clinic and we bring our medication. And I agree with what others have said, no guilt, we deserve the best.

Ellen - I know what you mean about mixed results having just experienced the same. Tx remains the same for now.

    Lynn - WOW on TMs!

Bluefrog - will be thinking of you today. That's a lot in one day.

Dune - I will pm Blondie but I think she's OK. She's been on oxygen for quite a while - she recently changed her avatar. Rest well my friend.

Patty - hope you're still feeling good.

Has anybody heard from tryn2staycalm? She hasn't posted here in a while.

Hello ladies! I'm so behind on reading. Wanted to check in. My antidepressants have really helped my mood oh my goodness Im better. I take cymbalta 30 mg twice day. My pain is finally under control and of course that has helped tremendously. I'm having trouble with severe constipation so we are trying v to get n a good regimen for that. I had mri yesterday of cervical and mid spine, shoulder, and brachial plexus. I think they believe the pain is jot cancer related but post surgical issues or vertebrae compression or something. The pain is severe in my armpit and down the outside of my arm. I see a pain specialist today and I'm nervous. Also ultrasound shows thickened endometrial lining and fibroid. So hysterectomy soon. I'm relieved! My phone doesn't want to cooperate typing! Peace and love!

    Good morning ladies

Terre you are right I haven't been here long enough to know these ladies but it gives me hope to know they are around and thriving. This disease is so unpredictable but if I make a few more years I plan to make them count. Every oncologist appointment I get prodded and poked and asked numerous times does this hurt or this and when I say no not yet they almost seem disappointed.

Dee yes wasn't the weather fantastic yesterday now all your moved plants will get the water they need eh? I find with gardening it's so nice to see results so fast. Used to live in White Rock had a great garden there too..was a lot younger though. Now if I think of moving a tree or shrub I'm like meh so good for you.  It's meditation with exercise combined.

I wish everyone else a super wonderful day as well 😊😊😊

Good morning to all, wow this thread moves so fast I'm having a hard time keeping up! Spent the day in nature yesterday as it was gorgeous here. I brought my girls and a friend of theirs to the pumpkin patch and we had a blast. The wagon ride was a little hard on my butt and lower back but alot of fun.

Lynne, wow on your tm's, that is nothing short of amazing and shows you are having a very good response to treatment.

Bleufrog, sending positive thoughts for you today, best of luck with all of your scans.

Dee, glad you had a nice productive day in your gardens, it sounds like it's a labor of love for you. It's pouring rain here today with extreme high winds so I'm glad I spent yesterday outdoors having fun.

Linda, I've been wondering about Cathy too, I think I will pm her. She was having some problems last time she posted.

HopeFaithCourage, so good to hear from you but sorry about what you're going through. Praying your pain is not cancer related and wishing you an easy recovery from your hysterectomy. Is your surgery already booked?

    Hugs to all, Annie

Good morning ladies. I definetly agree this thread is different than others. The major difference ,(IMO),is that we share our lives outside of cancer. We share pictures, grandkids, gardens, vacas, pets, life changes on and on which makes us connected through our wonderful, happy points in our lives instead of the miserable Big C.

Keep sharing, hugging and living! Myra

Myra, you are so right! I love that we can connect like that with each other too and because we all really are friends it's nice we can share things here to bring us closer. I genuinely get excited seeing what is going on in everyone's life. I'm excited for you that you get to see your beautiful granddaughter in 2 weeks and I can't wait to see new pictures.

    Hugs to all, Annie

hi Jobur and everyone else. Update: yesterday was the first day out of bed for a while worked 15 min in the stationary bike with my good leg and stood up for a few minutes. Still feeling a bit down with my surroundings. Daughter has found another nursing home closer to home and a lot more cheery, waiting to see if insurance will cover

Aurora, so glad you checked in. We're all thinking of you and know that we're sending you lots of love and hugs. Sorry to hear you're feeling down with the surroundings but I do hope you can get to a cheerier place close to home. How has your pain level been?

Thank you all for the good wishes. No official results yet, but the radiology doctor said I'm having an excellent response to treatment based on the mammogram and ultrasound. Everything has shrunk. The tumors in my left breast are gone and the 4 cm. tumor in my right is virtually undetectable. Hoping my bones follow suit! Too much to live for! image

    Hi everyone.

Rachel (Bluefrog), The news about your mammogram and ultrasound is wonderful and so encouraging. It sounds like your tx is hitting its target. That should help you relax a bit so you can have fun on vacation. Are you doing anything exciting? I hope your bones are healing, too. I have heard that bone healing sometimes takes longer to see on scans even though the cancer is no longer active there. You have a beautiful family. Thank you for posting the photo.

Aurora, it is good to hear from you. Getting out of bed and spending time on the stationary bike are big accomplishments. I am sure it too a lot of strength and energy. I will keep my fingers crossed that you will be able to more to a better nursing home closer to home. Surroundings can play a big part in our mood.

HopeFaith,Courage, I am sorry you are in pain. I hope they find the cause. When will you have surgery?

I agree with everyone else. This is a warm, friendly thread.

    This is my favourite thread.

    Beautiful family bluefrog!

Aurora - sounds like good progress! and I hope you can go where you will feel more comfortable. Hope the food is good.

Hopefaith - Good luck with pain specialist. You may want to bring up the constipation issue with them as pain meds can also be a cause. Very happy to hear your mood is better. I also rely on chemistry for my mood and could not do without it.

Thank you Annie for checking on Cathy.

Rachel - how are you feeling? Is your leg healing well?

Had my first shot of Xgeva this morning. The shot was given in my tummy, didn't feel a thing and so far so good. Blood is good even my calcium level. TMs stable. Went to get my hair coloured and awful hairs removed with electrolysis after the tx. I feel 10 years younger...or almost

Lindalou - how is your second day after Xgeva?

Linda, Xgeva in the stomach is wonderful - so much less painful than the arm, where they were given to me before.

I had two shots of Faslodex this morning - one on each cheek, thank you...I discussed their process and yes, the serum is at room temp, they inject for over 45 seconds due to the thickness and they recommend bending over a chair. I turned my toes in like someone else recommended and I hardly felt a thing. So far so good.

Getting ready to head to a small town just south of the Canadian border tomorrow so will waive to all my Canadian sisters when I get there. Going to do a little hiking and fishing but mostly catching up on my reading.

I have a quick story to tell. Because we will be gone over Halloween I made a little care package for my 4 grandchildren age 6 to 1. I put in their favorite full-size candies, stickers, suckers and in the Halloween cards (one for each) I taped a $5 bill. When they opened the festive box, they were of course delighted ,but my 6 year old grandson quickly ran to get his markers and paper to write a thoughtful thank you note - unprompted from my daughter. Then he put his $5 in his piggy bank, pulled out two $1 bills and taped them into the thank you note. I received the thank you note today and it cracked me to up to see his hard-earned dollars inside the note. I have covertly returned the money to his mom, but every time I think of this little gesture, it tickles my heart.

Snow in the forecast later this afternoon. I'm not even upset about it - we've had a glorious fall with temperatures well above normal so I'm just grateful for the extended warm stretch.

I've enjoyed the photos you all are sharing -so here's those 4 grandchildren of mine.

Amy, fellow Canadian here, whereabouts are you traveling to? Your grandchildren are so cute, what a beautiful picture! That story was heartwarming indeed, what a lovely gesture from your grandson.

Linda, you're welcome, will let you know if I hear anything. Glad to hear you have your first Xgeva shot behind you. Looks like I'll be joining you and Lindalou soon. Got a call from my onc this morning, tm's are stable at 12 and she wants me to fax the paperwork to her regarding coverage for Xgeva. Insurance company should comply as I've given pamidronate a fair shot, fingers crossed.

Bluefrog, I'm overjoyed at your news, that sounds so promising. What a beautiful picture of you and your children! Gorgeous smiles all around.

amy such a wonderful story and picture thanks for sharing.

HFC, so glad to hear from you and that your mood is. bettet. For what its worth I had a hysterectomy in 2011 and of my 4 surgeries that year it was the easiest with a pain free recovery. Wishing you the same.

Rachel beautiful picture I hope you continue to get good news from your treatment team.

Aurora So glad to hear from you. What a wonderful daughter I hope you are able to move. Sending you healing thoughts.

Annie and Dune I am also a big fan of this thread. It is well worth the time to keep up.

Linda E, Good to hear that your shot went well. I'm still doing ok, but have some stomach/acid reflux issues, so eating pudding, Yum.

Annie, I hope you get Xgeva. So far it has been much better for me than Zometa.

Amy, I swear I can hear all of them saying "cheese!" Enjoy your time away.

Bluefrog, your family is absolutely beautiful.

Auroaya, Here's hoping your daughter can get you moved quickly and good for you for doing stationery bike. Keep it up.

Lynne, Wow on Tm's is right!

A little oncologist humor today. He asked me if there was anything he could do for me. I said, "I'd like some estrogen please." He promptly replied, "I'll give you just one tablet to lick." Gotta love it.
